The Getaway

Life was meant to be easy. At least that was the way he’d planned it ...
After completing a two-year exchange with the Royal Australian Navy, Lieutenant Aidan Grifford, RN, set off to see Australia. An experienced sailor, “seeing the sights” also
provides plenty of opportunities to engage in his passion ... yacht racing.
The top end of yacht racing is a rich man’s game. Aidan is not rich; not even close. All he has is his home - a twenty-five year old yacht that he has painstakingly restored - a group of close friends and a desire to find a woman to love and his place in the world.
When an invitation comes to race in the Whitsunday regattas, Aidan can’t refuse. But the best laid plans bring him more trouble than he bargains for. Crewing aboard The Getaway at Hamilton Island Race Week proves to be a life-changing experience, but Aidan soon discovers that the changes are not for the best.
When The Getaway is found drifting and abandoned seventy miles out to sea, Aidan’s connection to the yacht soon puts him front and centre in the police investigation and right
in the firing line of one of yacht racing’s richest and most powerful financiers. Sucked into a liquid quagmire riddled with lies, deceit, deception and danger, Aidan fights to keep his boat, his new girlfriend, his life ... and half a million dollars that he found hidden on board The Getaway ...

excellent sailing adventure but…

Enjoyed the first 2 books particularly the accurate description of sailing etc. This storyline is interesting but I found the hero’s actions a little inconsistent with his personality. And why he resisted police intervention so much seemed really out of sorts.
