The work of Hokusai offers an opportunity to undertake a journey through Japanese style, traditions and culture. The exhibition, held in the Palazzo Reale, Milan, and catalogue feature five disciplines of work: paintings, prints, illustrated works, drawings and applied arts. These are grouped into six main phases, moving from the Shunro period to the Manji epoch. The final section of the publication considers Hokusai's influence on artists such as Degas, Manet and Lautrec. Hokusai offers an artistic mirror on the Japanese way of life.

Bello. 4 stelle.
Saw a documentary - ordered the book. An extraordinary collection of intricate and powerful art. Hokusai is someone I knew nothing about. This is a fabulous, comprehensive introduction.
