Light from Her Mirror

Rate this book
She thought her past was behind her. Then one day out of the blue, secrets long hidden come out to haunt Kenzie Reese.
But this … this is the biggest secret of all. Bigger than finding out she has a long-lost twin. Bigger than finding out their father is a criminal. This secret has the power to destroy her hard-earned sense of peace.
After years of trying to forget, this newest revelation has Kenzie desperate to remember even the smallest details of her past. As her life begins to unravel, Kenzie and her twin search for answers. This secret, after all, rocks even Makenna.
Now the sisters are on a mission to uncover the final truth about their past, but will their new obsession cost them the men they love? Hardin cannot get past the fact that Makenna lies to him in her quest for answers. And Travis… when Travis takes a promotion in another town, it jeopardizes the fragile relationship he and Kenzie are building. Always a stickler for rules, the Lieutenant with the Texas Rangers won’t be pleased when he learns how far Kenzie bends the rules this time.
The answers the sisters find are not what they expect, and bring with them more changes, as well as fresh heartache. But the old cliché is true- the truth will set you free. This final truth offers closure on their past, and the power to move forward with their lives.
Especially for Kenzie, this truth is empowering, offering her a key ingredient to happiness and the light of a bright future.
Light she discovers from her mirror.

Best-selling indie and hybrid author Becki Willis loves crafting stories with believable characters in believable situations. Many of her stories stem from her own personal experiences. (No worries; she's never actually murdered anyone).

When she’s not plotting danger and adventure for her imaginary friends, Becki enjoys reading, spending time with her family, unraveling a good mystery (real or imagined), dark chocolate, and a good cup of coffee.

A professed history geek, Becki often weaves pieces of the past into her novels. Family is a central theme in her stories and in her life. She and her husband enjoy traveling but believe coming home to their Texas ranch is the best part of any trip.

Becki has won numerous awards—including two Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Awards, InD’Tale’s coveted RONE, and been named Finalist for two Claymore Awards—but feels the real compliments come from her readers. Drop in for an e-visit anytime at beckiwillis.ccp@gmail.com, or www.beckiwillis.com.

The conclusion to The Mirrors Don't Lie Series. Even though it ends a continuation of the series in the first two books, the story is summarized enough that a reader can catch on to the plot line. Kenzie and Makenna are still searching down clues as to what happened to their family. The girls slip away from their security detail and return to New Hampshire to search for clues. Without the security team they are truly on their own and receive a less then welcome reception while asking questions. The girls start to wonder if they will ever get the answers they seek, and when will the parties involved in the scandal that their clue revealed be indited? Will both the girls get their happy ending? The perfect conclusion to a great series. I highly recommend it.

Light from Her Mirror is the third and last book in the series, and I am sad to see it completed! This was a great book. It made me laugh, made me cry, tied up all the loose ends, and left me feeling good about the entire story.
This book is about family and relationships, as much as about romance. Very well done, and every enjoyable!

Mirrors Don't Lie Series is composed of three books concerning twin sisters separate at the age of three. I dislike them both cause of their actions, reactions and stupidity. The story line is full of unrealistic events in order for the story to flow. The dialog sometimes borders on stupid. More thought should have been put into these books because they could have really been great reads. The books do need to be heavily edited. Mafia is uppercase when it refers to the Costra Nostra, otherwise lowercase is OK if it's like the "diaper" mafia wrecking havoc at the child care center. 3*

The Girl from Her Mirror #1 - Well written, but need to be better though through. I've read other books by Ms. Willis and enjoyed them. I was disappointed when she made the character stupid in order to advance the story. I would have found another way for the separation instead of believing a total stranger in a phone call; yep, no face-to-face. She also disregards her instincts about another character. She Googles everyone, but the Ranger after all he's done for and with her?

A few action scenes were awkward, but there's no reason for the author to have experienced what she put her character through, so take with a grain of salt or tolerance. (For example: they're speeding and he wants her to turn left in 100 ft, which by the time he tells her what he wants that exit is long gone.)

There's reasons explained for everything the character didn't do and some got a bit redundant. The flow of the story is continuous and doesn't bog anywhere. Other than a few unrealistic bits (action and dialog), the story is entertaining and the language is clean. I skipped what looked like a sex scene; written sex is so boring but sexual tension is fun. I like the family members and the roommates, all come across as likable. There's no cliffhanger, but the Mafia is still in the picture. 4*

Mirror, Mirror on Her Wall #2 - It's the other sister's turn and she's a terrible person. Not all the secrets were uncovered in book one and this book does well with the clues and investigation, and is fast paced. But too many things weren't realistic and wouldn't occur in reality. The main character is a meadow muffin; self-centered, selfish and irresponsible. She places others, and herself, in danger without a clue or though in her head. She's always so smart and thinks she always right. Of course, she comes out smelling like a rose because the unrealistic events that are written for the story line. In real life, she would have died and the others with her.

Kenzie also can't make up her mind between two men. She's already in love with Travis, yet when she mets pretty boy Craven, she doesn't owe T her loyality or her heart. Say what? She also confuses caring with controlling. He's trying to keep her safe and Ms. Stupidity goes feminist and insulting. SW? Travis the Texas Ranger in love with this twit needs his head examined. Where's his self-esteem when she's treating him like something on the bottom of her shoe after strolling through a pig pen? Texas Rangers are not stupid men and to see him treated as an eejit is an insult to all Rangers. I don't care what body part is thinking when he's around her, he or any self respecting man would not tolerate this behavior. 3*

Light from Her Mirror #3 - I couldn't read any more of this series. The second book just irritated me beyond tolerance. I have read other books by Ms. Willis that I did enjoy and were better written and thought out, so maybe this was an earlier effort before she hit her stride. Because I don't expect improvements, I'll just cheat and give it 3*.

Light From Her Mirror: Mirrors Don’t Lie Mystery Series Book 3 is by Becki Willis. This third book in the series is great. The series itself is fantastic and well worth the time reading it.
Kenzie Reese thinks someone is following her again. She thought this was all over now that everyone knew she had no ties to her Father, the Zaffino mafia or Bernard Franks or anyone else of interest. She decides to find out if the Texas Rangers were following her. Texas Ranger Travis Merka picked up the phone when she called him and he told her they had no one following her at her request. He told her to get off at Randolph and go to the police station there and ask for Sergeant Phillips. When she got off, she realized she had shaken the car following her so decided to go on home by the back roads. When she got to the top of a hill, she realized she had no brakes and was going too fast to stop. She managed to get her car stopped by hitting several curbs, running through several acres of grass, and taking out a gazebo. Someone had cut her brakes. Someone was still after her. She now has to figure out who and if her sister Makenna was in danger as well.
Will she and Makenna ever figure out what the mystery is about their family? Will she and Travis get back together or has she gone to far, even for him.
Well written and a lot of fun to read.

Family

This has been a very good and exciting series. This third book was a bit disappointing for me, however. Maybe the problems were rehashed too often but also there wasn't enough Hardin and Travis to balance what I disliked about Kenzie and Makenna. They truly made some bad decisions. The final secrets were guessed much earlier and left not a lot to look forward to. Still, the characters are well written and the story is well told.

All I can say is WOW! Powerful! Loved all three books. Ms Willis, you are one amazing writer. Once I start reading your stories I can't stop. So far I've read all of The Sisters and all of The Mirror. Makenna and Kenzie are perfect mirror images. Thank you for being such a great storyteller. Looking forward to more of your series.

Excellent Trio

I read all three books in 2 days as I couldn't stop. I loved trying to figure out the mystery with the twins and I love the ending. Before you can commit and be happy in a relationship you have to be happy in yourself.

Another great series by Becky Willis that I could not put down! The only thing that I did not like was this was only a trilogy and now I am left wishing there was more adventures of Kenzie and Makenna!!

Becky Willis does it again!

Miss Willis weaves an amazing series centered around twins separated when they were 3 years old; how they come together through fate and find themselves devoured in political intrigue, danger, love and mystery.

This is the conclusion of the Mirrors Don't Lie series. There is enough of a synopsis in the first chapters to make each book stand alone. I recommend reading all three though. I have to say this book is my favorite! These are well written books filled with realistic mysteries and surprises. I loved reading them!

Just amazing!!

Of course the entire scheme their father was involved in isn't over. Where is their father? Who keeps trying to hurt them? Is everything going to work out in the end? This book ties up all those dangling storylines with style. Excellent story telling with only a few editing blips. A keeper.
