Lady of the Fire, Book Five in the Bonded Realm series by Regan Allen, is an excellent, quick read that has, once again, left me eager for more!
The novel follows Lady Dulciya Lutelyn, newly-elected Potentate of the Miners Guild in Lutelan, and Kadan Asanji, Khan of the High Peak. Despite their long standing acquaintance, neither could have foreseen that they would one day strike an unusual bargain: a marriage of convenience. And neither is prepared for the surprises or blessings that their new life together will bring—for themselves and for all the peoples of Alyna.
As a fan of Christian fantasy, I am always excited to find stories that point to the Creator and the truth of the gospel, and this one does just that. While the Christian elements are not overt, the novel’s major themes are undeniably Christian in nature. In fact, as I read Lady of the Fire, I was continuously reminded of Proverbs 16:9 (ESV): “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” In the words of the author, God “knows what we need when we need it,” and readers are invited to see how God works for the good of His people in ways they often cannot foresee. I also appreciated the reminder that we are stronger when we work and use our Creator-given gifts in unity with one another.
I have greatly enjoyed reading all five books in the Bonded Realm series—the world-building and story-telling is truly superb—and I cannot wait to see what comes next when Xan Alakar’s story is published!

Regan Allen once again delivers a captivating addition to the Bonded Realms series, filled with memorable characters and a story that is impossible to put down.
Dulciya is a remarkable heroine whose intelligence, resilience, and determination make her an inspiring protagonist. Kadan is equally compelling, a noble and honorable leader whose quiet strength and unwavering loyalty create the perfect complement to Dulci's fiery spirit. Their marriage-of-convenience relationship develops naturally, with genuine emotional depth and plenty of tender, swoon-worthy moments.
Beyond the romance, the novel shines through its rich fantasy setting, engaging political conflicts, and themes of trust, courage, and sacrifice. The pacing keeps readers invested as the stakes continue to rise, while the vivid world-building brings every scene to life.

This is Book 5 in the Bonded Realms Series and so far it’s my favorite.
I liked the loyalty and sharp wittedness of Dulci, leader of the miner’s guild, and the restrained strength of Kadan Asanji, Khan of the High Peaks. I was surprised to find a marriage of convenience in a fantasy book. It worked really well. I liked how they dealt with each other with forthright honesty merging their strengths to win the challenges before them. The romantic courting rituals of the Khorum remind me of the story of Ruth. The world building took on deeper dimensions with the addition of new creatures. The fire wyrm was a pleasant surprise, but I don’t trust it—which I think is a good thing. I would love to hear the conversation between and kryal and it’s rider!
I’m very much looking forward to the battle with Vanguard. I have pre-ordered Book 6: Outlaw of the Wildwood. Looks like Xan will get his turn…

An interesting continuation of the series, featuring a truly unique couple. I've said before that each couple has their own distinct feel, but Dulci and Kadan take the crown as the most singular of all. At times, it was a little hard for me to see those two making sense, but for the most part, and certainly by the end of the book, I thought they were indeed each other's match. Kadan heals from the loss of his first wife, while Dulci pushes him to grow in new directions. Even though they start with a marriage of convenience, Kadan commits to his role as husband and protector in an endearing way. I loved watching him embrace his role in the Blessed Lands, and it was a treat to see beloved characters from earlier books in Khorrum territory. Those interactions really enriched the story. And as for Dulci and her newfound friend... that might just be the best part of the book! A distinctive piece that still maintains the cohesiveness of Allen's world.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
If you like magic, intrigues, suspense and strong heroes and heroines…living in a world of strange creatures then this is the book… no! Series for you!
Regan Allen weaves such a tale that draws the reader into this new world. You cheer for the good side and want to see the invaders vanquished.
Each book builds upon the story of the invaders and the local people in their struggles and hopes. That being said I recommend that you read each in order as the subplot is building with each story.
Each book also focuses on a couple who need to find their place and purpose while finding hope and love.
Each book has been so good that I hated to put it down and so sad when it was over. I still wanted more!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series and book!
I cannot wait for the next in the series.

This is a good romantic fantasy though we are unfortunately not at the end of the series wide war yet, hopefully soon. This romance again takes a member of the clans and pairs him with one from the cities. In this marriage of convenience we get a good taste of both cultures. One interesting part of this book is that our heroine bonds with a fire worm – which seems a lot like a dragon – and she is a big part of the story. Our heroine also has fire magic that she has hid from her people her entire life. It was a nice read, and I am interested in finally getting to the showdown at the end of the war with the invaders. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 2. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Each time I read one of Regan Allen’s Bonded Realms stories, I tell myself this one can’t possibly be better than the previous one, because the previous one was wonderful. Each time, Regan proves me wrong. Lady of the Fire includes the tried and true trope of a marriage of convenience, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a story of discovering one’s place in the world, surmounting obstacles, and finding true love. As if that weren’t enough, Regan Allen introduces us to a new mythical creature. I didn’t think anything could surpass the kryals, but this new one did … at least for me. If you enjoy stories of love, drama, and fantasy, you won’t want to miss Lady of the Fire.

This was a very good book where it was hard to put down. Regan Allen has a way of getting you right into the characters where you feel as if you are friends with them. This is the 5th book in the Bonded Realms series. This one deals with the Dulciya (Dulci) Lutelyn, the newly elected Potentate of the Miners Guild and Kadan Asanji, Khan of the High Peak. They enter into a marriage of convenience for both of them, but is love in their future? What will happen when he finds out of her “gift”? These questions and more are what drew me in to continue reading this book.

This is the fifth book in Allen’s Bonded Realms series. I highly recommend that you read this fantasy romance series in order so that you can understand the worlds of the Khorrum and the Blessed, the animals, the cultures, the geography, the other characters, and the problem with the Vanguard.
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest addition to the series. There are new characters who join the ones from previous books, new locations we haven’t visited before, some new animals, and plenty of plot twists to keep things hopping. It was hard to put down, and now I have to wait for the next book!
