A Girl's Girl

Rate this book
There is nothing I wouldn't do for my girls. Throat punch a man for being disrespectful? Check. Uplift them during difficult times? Absolutely. Murder men who prey on women and children? Without hesitation.

I started an organization with my best friends to hunt down the monsters that profit off of snuff films.
Despite my questionable ways of dealing with these depraved individuals, my friends and all the women working alongside us have my back no matter what. We cultivated a safe space that's thriving, and anyone who gets in our way will be dealt without mercy.

A year ago, we tragically lost our dear friend Sophia to the same scum we hunt, and her gruesome death still haunts me to this day. And her killers are still out there … taunting us …

Well, I'll give Deathly Rose a lot of credit. I read some really nasty, aggressive content on a daily basis. However, I'm not sure that a penis being excised on the first page has ever happened for me, so kudos for that. The body horror in this book was really incredible, in both the volume and detail. Splatterpunk all the way. I cannot give any details on my 10th and final book project set for 2029, but there are some plot points in this that are comparable. So, naturally, I was a bit of a mark for this story. Unfortunately, the pacing was a bit quick and it slipped into having more of an emphasis on the gore, as opposed to providing more context for important parts of the story. Nothing that necessarily ruined the experience but definitely left me wanting more depth on certain aspects. And that would have really elevated from this from a very good showing to a great one. Still a very enjoyable, ugly sort of story for gorehounds like Peter Topside.

Do not know what posessed me to think I was able to bring this novella to work and smash it out before work started.

As soon as I started it I knew it was a mistake (but in a good way) because I got 70% in and i only had a bit left to go and then i had to start work!

I dont know what it is about Deathly Rose and her novellas...but every one I have read previously have been real goers and Deathly Rose really knows how to grab her target audience from the first page, and it was off to a great FKN start!

Let's just say the whole concept of women Empowerment was brought to new levels but boy oh boy that plot twist sealed the deal and made this one of the best extreme horror reads ive read in a long time!

So thank you, Deathly Rose, for giving me a copy of this ARC ❤️ I absolutely cannot wait until this arc is released into the big bad world because it's absolutely brilliant!

Bianca, along with her best friends, Camila and Jess, run a very important organization. They have a strong team behind them and they all help out women and children in need. They torture men who hurt women and they do it well.

Bianca is the torturer and prefers to do it alone due to some guilt. They lost their best friend Sophia and Bianca has felt guilty ever since. Her main goal is to find the men who killed her and take revenge for Sophia. Little do they know that the person in charge is right under their nose.

Wow. What an emotional and strong story. This is the type of friendship everyone deserves. The torture in this was chefs kiss and the solid friendship was even better. Feeling Bianca's pain and guilt hit home. If anyone has ever felt grief, you will feel it through these pages. Another impactful story by Rose! I absolutely loved this

Three best friends and their organization doing what most of us wish we could do and get away with.

This story jumps into action from the very first sentence and doesn't let up.

Bianca, Camila and Jess not only let us come along and watch as they take care of the predators who are harming women and children, they let us witness their unbreakable bond and unwavering support for each other. A true friendship.

In addition to the grotesque and detailed revenge, there's loss, grief, trauma, and the process of healing.

Bianca states that she is not Super Woman. But she is.

Deathly Rose writes like how a spider weaves its beautifully intricate web. I can't wait to see what she creates next.

I cannot begin to express how deeply my psyche needed the catharsis that this story provided me today.

Bianca and her crew operate an underground business operation that hunts down and deals with the disgustingly wretched individuals responsible for snuff films, and other horrific instances of human trafficking.

The crew has been working together with much success, but there is one white whale that Bianca and the girls just can’t for the life of them seem to locate to deliver their just desserts. The men who captured and brutally tortured her best friend Sophia to death.

Bianca has spent an uncomfortable amount of time reviewing the tape that relives her friends last moments… but all the men wore clown masks, just adding insult to injury.

During the story, several terrible people meet their entirely well deserved and brutal end, but when the opportunity to finally face the captors that took her best friend away arises, this team of badass babes are not about to let their fearless leader go it alone.

This story starts out with absolutely blissful brutality on page one, and hardly lets up, but when it does, you get a glimpse into these really wholesome and beautiful female friendships. The balance was absolutely chefs kiss.

Easy 5 ⭐️ on this one.

I love it when women stick together and have each others backs like this. I think this may be the first extreme horror featuring women that have banded together to get revenge on the shitty excuses for men.
I hope that there will be a duo logo or even a trilogy in the works as I love some good old feminine rage.
Deathly has written something magnetic here and I’ve never been more willing to zip up my boots and join a band of fictional characters for some good old torture.

ATE AND LEFT NO CRUMBS (literally!)

i devoured this. in one sitting (pun intended)

my heart. no more of that😏

a splatter. that i rate so highly? go me. this is fem rage in its more extreme form but oh my goodness. a girl's girl, count me in.

although deliciously dark i really loved every part of this. all of it. some of it was GROSS but it wasn't disgusting all the way through which i love with splatter if done right. plot is vital and it is important even in disgusting, splatter filled stories & deathly did this perfectly, literally. the plot is delicious, built on protecting women, girlhood, extinguishing those that plague our society. safe to say,if the purge was real, this book would definitely give you some incredible ideas.

categorically i think up there with one of my best splatter reads,my second of deathly's work aswell as i appreciate the non inclusion (really, ish?) of heavy child @buse,i notice this comes up a lot in splatter but im really glad this didn't have any brutal child scenes in it. i also think it wouldn't fit for this story, this is literally about the girls! the girls are so good and i love them so much! bianca is my favourite of course! our crazy final girl! she has a thirst for revenge and i love her for it!

a twist i didn't expect too. i was floored. i literally gasped.

anyways less of the puns & more of the ratings?

okay,let's do it!

characters? 5⭐️ each of our three main fmc's i loved them all, they are the perfect trio & honestly it made my heart VERY happy that they all got everything figured out (im not spoiling that's all you're getting) also the inclusion of each character was actually really well executed,it didn't feel like anyone got outshined, they all had like their bit? which i think is hard to execute in case of multiple mc's! but done perfectly here! development is up their too, especially with our main girl! she comes into her own so beautifully towards the end,let me tell you i was rooting for her the whole way through!

plot? 5⭐️ for a novella of just over a 100 pages the plot was packed all the way in there. categorically one of the most plot heavy splatters i have come across! and i have read & dnf'ed a lot! deathly although a newer author,a true artist and to write a splatter so well,a testament to the talent.

spice/gore? 🧠🧠🧠🧠 i don't know if you can do a spice rating for a splatter but what spice was in there was disgusting,so i mean point taken and achieved lol? i expect spice to be gorey and uber gross and you defintely get that here. + CANNIBALISM? HELLO? but honestly i loved it. like i said it ATE. pun absoultely intended.

overall?? 5⭐️ me reading splatter and it's 5 stars? i know it's great isnt it? i love it here. deathly did amazing with this and honestly a really enjoyable read, that probably says a lot about me but hey what can i say,i came to reading for the romance and ended here,i welcome it🖤

Another banger by Deathly Rose. 🌹 Sometimes in the extreme horror and Splatterpunk universe we get saturated with revenge stories and repetitive retellings of a snuff film story. But Rose says.. nah, I’m going to have those tropes but make them original and fun. And devastating. And brutal. Maybe traumatize you a bit. There’s only one other author I say “no one is safe in their books” but I think I need to start saying this for Rose’s books, too.

The trio of friends in this book (Bianca, Camilla and Jess) will surely have you feeling warm and fuzzy and thankful for your girlfriends or maybe has you wishing you had those types of friends in your life. When you run an underground vigilante snuff film business, you can’t do it alone. Like anything that is this extreme or risky or located on the dark web, eventually you will upset the wrong people. Although this target falls upon Bianca, she sure has the support from her friends. The next mission involves family and she has no idea what kind of abuse and torture she’s about to walk into…

Thank you to Deathly Rose for another chance to read the ARC for one of your books. Keep them coming! This book releases tomorrow, 07/16! Grab it and happy reading!

A girls girl out 16th July

Women taking care of women…brutally getting payback for all who’ve been abused at the hands of them AND letting the victims watch as it happens… F YEAH this was perfect for me👌🏻😌

Bianca is a girls girl through and through. Setting up an organisation to bring justice (in the most savage way) to women & kids who have suffered at the hands of the worse kind of men in the worse kinds of way.

After the gang of men that tortured her bestfriend for a snuff film come for her father, it’s time for Bianca to finally get her revenge!!

Oh this was brilliant! I LOVED the fact the organisation was run by all females & that they had each other’s backs, alongside getting rid of the scum in the best ways! Bianca is someone I’d love to be like. Bad ass & getting rid of all those monsters whilst having your girls supporting you!

Honestly deathly never fails me, I knew it would be another 5⭐️ The natural talent she has is just 👌🏻 Thank you so so much for sending me the ARC I feel so bloody lucky everytime that email hits 🥺🤎

Side note: can we take a moment for the beautiful cover art too 😍😍😍 I can’t wait for everyone to read this 👏🏼

First off that opening! A brutal but excellent start. Bianca, Camilla & Jess have created their own unique safe space for women. A space for women who have been violated by men.

The three friends makes this a tale of womanhood and empowerment. Their banter is infectious.

The girls will do anything to protect what they have. The torture scenes are wildly inventive not like anything I have read before.

Bianca is hellbent on revenge following the torture and murder of her friend Sophia, and then her dad goes missing. The story unfolds from here and I won’t go any further as I don’t want to spoil this for anyone. Prepare yourself for a feminine rage induced gore fest!

"Don’t be a pick me girl; that’s fucking gross."
The dedication is chefs kiss 😙🤌🏾

This book follows some baddies making the world a better place by ridding it of the dregs of society.
You know the saying, not every man but always a man... and the pathetic pick me's who are a stain on everything great that is being a woman.
Feminine rage- I'm so here for it ❤️
I think this is gonna be my theme for this spooky season ☺️

My first Rose book but definitely not my last. Would love for her to team up with Yolonda Olson... THAT would be a scary good combo.

"Don't be a pick me girl; that's fucking gross."I cannot tell you how many emotions I went through reading this book. I was expecting a brutal and action-packed revenge story, but Deathly gives us that and so much more. Some parts of the book and the things Bianca endures are absoutely gut-wrenching.

I’d love to see more of this incredible team; whether it's a prequel, a sequel, or both!

4⭐️ Deathly Rose writes some of my favorite gory scenes. She’s so inventive and brutal, which is exactly what I want in my SP and EH. This revenge story is filled with emotion, as it centers around grief and friendship, which added some depth to the story.
With that, I selfishly wanted this to be longer in order for the story to be more fleshed out and not feel rushed in some bits.
Overall, super entertaining and intense!

Thanks to the author for the eARC!

Thank you to Deathly Rose for providing me with an early copy of A Girl's Girl. While I did receive this book free of charge, these are my honest thoughts and opinions.

A Girl's Girl is a refreshing take on female rage and empowerment in the splatterpunk and extreme horror space; it's not just another revenge tale. The story is told from the perspective of Bianca, a young woman who heads a small group of women who target very bad men.

There are a lot of things I liked about A Girl's Girl, but I think it could use some development. The writing was well done and I like Rose's style, but the plot fell short. There's a lack of tension and the ending conflict felt rushed.

We do get a main villain, but there's very little setup for that plot point. We're reading a long, and all of a sudden, oh yeah, he's the big bad of the story. I'd also like more back story on how Bianca started the organization, how she found the women who work with her, and more story about the process of finding these people they target. There's mention of some evil groups, but we aren't really given much detail.

Overall, I really love the concept, but it's about 200 pages too short. A Girl's Girl really needs to be a full-length splatter action novel. There's so much world-building and character development that Rose could explore. I kind of feel like this book would benefit from either a multi-character pov or a third-person narrative.

Do I recommend that you read this? Yes, I still think this is totally worth reading, but just know, you're going to be left wanting a lot more.

Firstly, thank you Deathly Rose for allowing me to read an advanced copy!

Now this book starts off with quite possibly one of my favourite opening lines ever and it helps really set the tone for the rest of the book. These 87 pages contain some of the most brutal, graphic, violent and disturbing writing and wow, I just loved it. Bianca, her friends and her organisation are set out to rid the world of those inflicting all sorts of evil on innocent women and children and they get very… creative with it. I’m not going to go into too much detail regarding that, but it’s definitely something you need to experience for yourself. The rage you feel as you go through this book just spills off the pages and it is impossible not to root for Bianca and her team. The action doesn’t stop either which leaves the book impossible to put down.

Once again, Deathly Rose has not disappointed with her writing. She takes you on a journey and then somehow manages to take you even further than you ever thought you could go. She is an absolute gem in the horror genre and deserves every bit of success that comes her way.

Deathly Rose reminded me why I love reading splatterpunk and extreme horror. The plot sold me, and the extreme violence (good for her!) kept me glued to the pages. I’m a girl that needs both a good story and painful violence in her EH and SP!

My one critique is that some things happened too perfectly to Bianca (ie availability of security cameras at her dad's home and the ability of her team to recover deleted footage, and therapy post the traumatic events at the end of the book). She deserves all the greatness for her work in protecting and avenging women/kids that were harmed, though.

Check this out if you’re in the mood for a revenge story with an extreme plot and a twist that will have you clenching your ass.

Thank you to the author for an epub of this! All thoughts are my own. This is my first time reading this author and will absolutely be reading more.

Here’s the thing, if Deathly Rose writes it, I WILL devour it. Just when I think I’ve seen it all with her, BAM— she swoops in and makes my jaw drop. I seriously thought during one scene in A Girl’s Girl that she wouldn’t dare.. oh y’all. did. she. ever 😈 But my favorite part, it was such a simple line… but our FMC pounding on house to ensure all critters escape before she unleashes an inferno… yesssssss! Give me all the fvcked up shit, but leave animals out of it 🥰💃
Want a plot heavy on feminine rage? A group of women looking out for each other? Ridding the world of scum? But need that violence and gore? A GIRL’S GIRL is it! Coming soon 💃🩷😈

Here's the thing if Deathly Rose writes it I'm going to devour it! She NEVER disappoints!

This book starts off brutal. But who doesn't like a book with that type of intro? (Cause I do🤭)

"Stay with me, dude. My viewers don't like quitters,"

You follow Bianca and her two bad ass friends who have organization to protect women from men.
Women that have gone through the most horrible things. Bianca and her friends seek out revenge and protect these women. and let's just say the way they destroy these men is absolutely perfect. I can't say much because then I'll spoil the book for you, but this is a MUST read.

Bad people doing bad things to other bad people will always be a vibe, even if it test my own inner morals. A Girl’s Girl is “good for her” splatter and the right kind of women’s wrongs I adore. Deathly Rose never holds back in her writing or her on page brutality.

Now, I’m a “Girls’ Girl” or—at least—I try very hard to be, but the camaraderie in this story is a little too cheesy at times.
The plot twist is very predictable.
That aside, this is a decent splatterpunk that I ate the f@#k up. Very enjoyable!

If there’s one thing about Deathly Rose, this author does not shy away from trauma nor gore and I absolutely love it! A Girl’s Girl is no exception. Bianca, Jess, and Camila use their individual strengths, intelligence, and drive to come together and brutally (and I mean brutally) avenge those who are hurt by the hands of evil men. I absolutely ate this novella up, and am counting down the days to my next Deathly read!

in a world fill of pick mes, be a bianca!!!

When the world is full of disgusting men, who view women only as objects they can use and wield, there will always be women like Bianca and her friends.
Women who will stop at nothing, to make sure that these men and the women who support them, understand that they do not hold all the power and that there will always be someone willing to fight back.

Deathly Rose strikes again. This novella was a great homage to feminine rage and revenge. For those of you who are sick of being pushed around by by men and belittled by the pick mes of the world. This one's for you.

So I will say that I am new to splatter punk horror and I honestly don’t know if this genre is for me, but as a reader I am willing to try out almost anything even if it’s once. I’m giving this book 5 stars because I really like this authors writing style, it’s to the point without unnecessary fluff and because of that it was easily a page turner because I needed to know what was going to happen next. This is a short read but in a short amount of time I grew to really enjoy the characters. Even the villains….. even though everyone is sick in the head lol they were written well. There was just enough depth to the characters back story to where you felt like you could understand why they are the way that they are and why they do what they do. This is so sad because I’ve been watching horror films forever but reading the graphic & horrific ways people died and were brutality violated made me want to gag but simultaneously I was intrigued on how things would play out next. That right there is a weird feeling but I’m not mad at it. I truly believe this author has a promising future ahead with writing books and I can’t wait to see what they come out with next.
