Fun fact: I went and bought all the Harada manga I don't have yet from a local bookstore before the lockdown and I only started reading them now. Harada's not the easiest mangaka to read--not because of how fucked up the stories are, like that's what I read Harada for--but because she tends to have a wall of text in her pages that's too much kanji for my poor literacy.
Hen-ai is a collection of one-shot stories, some of which are multi-part. It also includes 「止まり木」which is where 'One Room Angel' came from.
So the title is 'Strange Love' with the same 変 that's in hentai (lol), not sure if the word 'strange' carries the same uncomfy connotation as 変, which is why some people are surprised I guess. Reading other people's comments about the final story made me laugh. It's probably best to expect something similar from Harada.
It's all R-18. Not one chapter exists without people having sex. Anyway, the title story is easily my fave and those two appear in other collections so that makes me happy. Some of it's pretty old so the art style is a bit different. Don't read if you don't like non-con and teacher/student relationships. There's a lot more humorous stories in this lot, so it has a lighter mood.
I liked these for the most part, but none of them really jumped out to me except maybe Torch. That one's what One Room Angel used to be and it was more of what I was expecting when I read One Room Angel. I did like Torch as it's own thing, but I love One Room Angel as it is now. Kouki and Angel have come a long way since that story.
I did like the one about the two friends, that was kind of funny and when they were in the bathroom and got caught but somehow got out of it saying he needed to be watched to get over his constipation? Fucking hilarious especially when his friends were so supportive of his condition. Also the friend that caught him seemed so familiar? I feel like he was in another of the stories I've read. The roleplaying couple was good too. The last story was mostly sex and the messiah's bad day was whatever.
These were decent reads, but nothing that really grabbed me.
A man known as the Messiah whose tongue technique is said to heal impotence takes up a job to heal a nervous-looking man, but is quite surprised by the turnout.
This is my favoriteeeee series by Harada so far! It's sooo cute! Since it's Harada, I'm just praying it stays that way lol DONT HURT THESE TWO!!
Henai: 5/5...again, since it's Harada, when it started with some pretty strong non-con I thought "here we go..." but was sooo pleasantly surprised when it became a super cute comedy! I love the characters and their personalities too.
Henai - Maotoko Hen: 5/5. Such a good add on. Just as funny and steamy as the first!
Henai - Fomou Hen: 4/5. Who knew shaving could be so hott? Lol
The extras were funny too and I hope we get more of these characters soon! Loved this.
