Tilly's Bar #1

Finally Home

Rate this book
Spending the weekend celebrating my brother’s engagement is the last thing I want to do. Especially when my ex is the best man, and my family’s favorite pastime is judging my life decisions.

I need an escape, a distraction. Which is how I ended up in Tilley’s Bar. I didn’t expect this one spur-of-the-moment decision to change my life, but it does, all because of Oliver Mosby.

When the cute bartender hears my woes, he heroically offers to be my fake boyfriend, and I’m desperate enough to agree. But then one weekend turns into two, and lines begin to blur. What’s supposed to be fake sure feels like more.

I’ve spent years searching for that missing piece—a place where I belong. With Ollie, am I finally home?

Ok Stefanie has been one of my favorites and when I saw she was writing again and had a new book coming I immediately ran to sign up and let me tell you this book did not disappoint!

Ollie and Hollie, gosh I just ate them up. First of all from the very first meeting they had this instant attraction to each other that just had me turning page after page.

But Ollie I adored his outgoing and sarcastic personality, with humor and banter but he also had this extremely protective nature towards Hollie and fully supported her dreams that she wanted.

Hollie may have issues with her family, but family isn’t always blood and how Ollie’s family welcomed her with open arms and became her support system was just amazing to see. We can’t choose what family we are born to but we can choose who we call family.

This book will have you laughing and then turn around and being angry, then happy but it will have you in your feels till the very end.

I’m glad Stefanie is writing again and look forward to book of this series.

I am so excited to have a new book from Stefanie Jenkins!!! I love her writing so much and this story was just what I needed!

Holland has to attend her brothers engagement party and she is dreading it, she doesn’t fit in or feel accepted by her family. She stops in a small town and Tilly’s Bar where she meets the charming bartender Oliver. They get to talking and Holland confides in Oliver about dreading her trip home, Oliver shocks them both by offering to be her fake boyfriend for the weekend. One weekend turns into a week that turns into a month.

I instantly liked Ollie, he was charming and flirty and lovable. He became a solid presence for Holland against her family and gave her support when she didn’t have any. I also loved the transformation of Holland while she was with Ollie. In the beginning she was anxious and didn’t stand up for herself, the more time she spent with Oliver, the more she started to lean into who she was and be proud of that.

Oliver’s friends and family accepted Holland into their world so effortlessly and I’m excited we get to stay here for a couple more books 😍. They gave Holland what she wanted the most, a family and a place to belong.

This was such a sweet and spicy read from beginning to end.

“Finally Home” by Stefanie Jenkins is everything my tired mom-heart needed.

As a thirty-something mom juggling life, work, and keeping a tiny human alive, reading is my ultimate escape.. Finally Home delivered exactly what I didn’t know I was craving.

This book feels like curling up with a warm blanket, a cup of cocoa, and your favorite Hallmark movie playing… except this time, the small-town charm and emotional sweetness come with a little extra spice. 👀 Jenkins strikes the perfect balance of comfort and cozy vibes, but she doesn’t shy away from the chemistry between her characters, which I fully appreciated. *wink*

The writing is smooth and the characters feel like people you’d actually want to sit on a porch swing with—real, genuine, and lovable.

I laughed, I teared up, and I may have blushed more than once.

If you’re a fan of second chances, small towns, and romances that feel like a warm hug with a wink, this romance is one for you!

Five stars. 100%. I am already recommending it!

Weiner bandits, unite!

Fascinated by my headline? If you want to be in the cool kids club and learn the Elmhurst lore of the Weiner bandit, then you're going to have to read this book.

You will also get a chance to meet the warm and amazing Mosby family, the rigid and less than amazing Armstrong family, and catch up with a couple from a previous book.

There were plenty of laughs, a few blush inducing scenes, a couple of tugs on my heartstrings, and a unique twist to the "HEA".

I'm already looking forward to the next book, I know it will be fantastic.

This was such a fun read. Ollie and Hollie’s chemistry was so good from the very beginning and had me hooked.

Ollie and his family were everything she needed in her life and I love how quickly he became her ride or die. Their love is so pure and swoon worthy. The simplicity of their romance (in the absolute best way) and fun of this story was everything I needed and more.

I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series.

I’m so happy that Stefanie Jenkins is writing again! She has written some of my favorite books and I’m pretty sure I’ve read them all! I loved this one! Ollie and Hollie are the best characters! This book has some sad times and happy times, lots of joking and of course lots of steamy scenes! I love everything about Ollie and his family! And I’m so glad that Hollie found a family and a home to settle down!

Stefanie’s writing has been missed, but this made the wait so worth it!

I instantly fell in love with Ollie and Hollie. The connection between the two characters will instantly have you hooked, ready to consume all the words.

You will totally laugh, of course you will cry, but it’s the love of the words that will have you turning the pages and then not wanting the story to end.

The most sincere love is within these pages! Well done Stef, welcome back! ❤️

Fans of Stefanie’s Promise series are going to want to read this series too! I was fortunate enough to be able to Beta read this book and I was absolutely hooked reading it in a day and then dying to talk to someone about it. When it came to the official release day I had to come back and re-read it but this time I savoured it and found myself reading it every spare moment I could.

I think it's safe to say that I was partly in love with Ollie by the end of chapter 2 and declaring my complete love for him by chapter 10. He was not just your typical sexy and flirty bartender, yes he had that effortless charm and non arrogant confidence we readers love from heroes like him but it was his humour I loved the most. He was sarcastic and lacked a filter at the best of times, whilst it was obvious it was often for the reaction, there is no denying his timing was often superb. He was also protective and I really enjoyed the dominating side that came out when it came to the interactions where he was determined to make Holland see her worth while remaining that free spirited individual, she was, that balanced with his own carefree attitude.

Holland (Hollie) initially was an anxious and almost timid individual that just sunk into herself when around her family. Though the true Hollie was a sassy and sarcastic free spirited individual with a love of adventure. Her character growth centered around finding her voice and using it to speak up for herself and learning how to be openly proud of who she was and the things that she had accomplished amongst the people that always put her down. Like Ollie I very quickly was infatuated with her and it wasn't long before I was rooting for her and if I’m honest by the end of the book I had a little bit of a girl crush on her for her regained level of confidence.

Overall they had a fun and easy dynamic. There were obviously some awkward moments that came from fake dating a stranger in front of an audience but it quickly and seamlessly gave way to their effortless chemistry and building tension. Ollie and Hollie fell hard and fast for each other, as did I for them as a couple. I enjoyed the scenes where they got to know one another and shared vulnerable moments (especially of Ollie’s heinous past - if you know you know). The sexual chemistry between them worked as it was a good mix of flirty fun and intense chemistry with just a little bit of praise and a light powerplay dynamic to further develop their physical connection alongside their emotional one. My favourite thing about them though was the excitement they got from not only being in one another's company but from their decision to give things a real shot. This was a fun and engaging romance with plenty of feel good moments throughout and lots of swoon. Now depending on how you look at it there was unfortunately a third act breakup for these two but honestly it worked. It allowed us to see how the short time they had spent together affected them and how deep emotions ran and I did find it to fit with their characterisation and character arcs up until that point. I don't want to give it away but the grand gesture to resolve the break up was beautiful and I am so happy with how Stefanie wrote it because it's not often that you get the female characters making the grand gesture and what was done was *chefs kiss*.

Finally Home is a lighter book with a mild rom-com feel to it. It had Stefanie’s signature take on angst and heartbreak however it was not as prominent a theme as it is in other books by her. The theme of complex family dynamics, depicted through Hollie’s family life, was thought out and well developed. It was another engaging element to this book and provided an enjoyable contrast to Ollie’ family and served a well executed purpose to drive individual character’s actions and the developing relationship between Hollie and all characters who were local to Tilly’s bar. My favourite part of it however was its resolution for the opportunity it gave Hollie to stand up for herself as it showcased her character development and gave that chapter of her life a satisfactory conclusion.

Stefanie does a wonderful job in all her series when it comes to creating a cast of characters you want to read more about and this book is no different. The banter between Ollie and his family is the obvious highlight but there is plenty more to talk about. Rhyland (Ollie’s best friend) was a likeable and funny character who shared a close bond not just with Ollie but the rest of his family too. The sibling dynamic between Ollie, Payton, and Archer was fantastic and I cannot wait for more of it. Connie (Ollie’s mum) was a warm character full of love and I liked how quickly she took Hollie under her wing. The quick friendship that developed between Payton and Hollie was also fun. Stephanie writes female friendships beautifully in all of her series and it's obvious that this series is going to be no different - it gave Dani/Haylee/Lauren/Kate vibes from the I Never series whilst also having its own unique feel and development and I look forward to seeing how it will evolve with future books in this series. And of course I have to mention the fun easter egg appearance from Brynn and Cal from ‘Pinky Promises’ as getting to see where they are now and how they were still head over heels in love with one another was such a welcomed moment.

I really enjoyed this book and Stefanie has kicked off her next series with a beautifully written and executed story that feels unique but also showcases her writing well. I was already excited for book two but with Stefanie telling me that I have made some crazily accurate predictions to what is going to happen I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. Bring it on!

Favourite Quote(s):
“...but, I’m me. And I’m sorry that’s not enough for you. But it’s enough for me.”

“When it comes to Hollie, it’s always my business. I’m not the idiot who didn’t realize he had the best thing in his life before she was gone.”

"So, Hollie, when I tell you that you look stunning and that you will be the most beautiful woman in the room, you smile and say 'thank you."

What I confessed may have been true, but if I'm being honest with myself, here, wrapped in Oliver's arms, for the first time, I finally feel that this could be home. And I just don't know what to do with that right now.

It's necessary for me to remember this is only temporary. We are temporary. But for as long as I have her, I'll treat her like this is forever.

"Someone told me that home can be a person, not a place. And Oliver Mosby, I want to make you my home.

How do you feel about golden retriever heroes who not only fall first, but defend her against her family and help her to develop her confidence in both the bedroom and in daily life?

⚓1-Click: https://mybook.to/tb1fh

⚓Excerpt⚓

“I suggest you get your hands off my girlfriend before I make you,” a deep voice rumbles from behind us, and Brett freezes before he can reach the center of my breasts. My chest heaves up and down as I try to steady myself.

Brett chuckles, and I never realized how slimy his laugh sounded. “It’s none of your business. Why don’t you run off and see if they need another server or someone behind the bar? That’s what you’re good at, right?”

This time, Ollie laughs, and there’s a darkness to it I’ve never heard. He steps up closer to Brett. “That’s where you’re wrong. When it comes to Hollie, it’s always my business. I’m not the idiot who didn’t realize he had the best thing in his life before she was gone.” He all but snarls the last word.

Before more of a scene can unfold, and possibly a punch or two thrown, I step up between the two of them. I glance around, seeing we haven’t gathered a crowd, but it’s only a matter of time.

“Ollie,” I say, placing my hand on his chest. “He’s not worth it.” I stare him straight in the eyes, and when his eyes drift toward Brett, I grip his chin and turn his focus back on me. “Come, dance with me, baby, please,” I plead.

With a still tight jaw, but not answering me, Ollie takes my hand, linking our fingers, and leads me to the dance floor.

Fury radiates off him in waves. I lace my fingers through the strands of his hair along his neck. I can tell that he’s lost in his own head, and I try my best to anchor him.

“Hey, come back to me. Be here with me,” I whisper. But nothing changes in him. So I do the one thing that he’s been doing when I need to get out of my head—I kiss him. We both get lost in the kiss, and I don’t give a shit that we’re in the middle of the dance floor kissing. All I know is that I need him grounded here with me.

Man am I so excited that Stefanie is back writing!!! Stefanie Jenkins did it again!!! Finally Home was fabulous, definitely the best fake dating book I have read yet!!! I absolutely adored Hollie and Ollie’s chemistry right from the beginning of the book. I cannot get over how perfect Ollie is starting out as a fake boyfriend and acting like they have been together for a long time. Even his family are so sweet and take Hollie in as their own! I love a good HEA and that’s just what you see at the end! I cannot wait for book 2 in this series!! Thank you so much Stefanie for allowing me to get an ARC!

Finally Home is exactly the kind of book I love reading. I really enjoyed Hollie and Ollie. You can't help but feel for Hollie. Ollie came in to her life at exactly the right time. Ollie... swoony sigh! I loved him so much! A true cinnamon roll hero with that sexy edge we all love. Finally Home had a great story that kept my attention and I couldn't wait to get back to after I had to put it down. Can't wait to read more of Stefanie's books. Next up is To Build A Home.

I absolutely loved Hollie and Ollie. I mean the names alone are freaking adorable! Ollie is such a gentleman who sticks up for Hollie when it comes to her family. Any man who defends his woman's honor is an automatic green flag for me! Plus he's a hot bartender. What more could you ask for?!
