Blood is the first book in The Trish Vampire Series by K.T. Rose. I was drawn in by the cover. This dark tale hooked me from the beginning. It is a supernatural horror tale of struggles, desires, and instinct being in constant battle.
The author did pull it together, but there were moments when we either had too much dialogue or I felt like the narrative was being rushed; so, it was a battle for me to rate. Don’t get me wrong, the story was engaging and I did enjoy the story, but I wanted to love it; there is so much potential in this author's work - I liked the premise, and the writing style.
Trish is a mum and a vampire, a mother and an ancient monster living in suburbia, hiding her true self. But one night is all it takes for it all to unravel.
Blood is a convincing, quick, tension-filled dark horror
I look forward to seeing what the second book brings.
Trish’s existence is a fragile balancing act between predator and pretense. She is a wife. A mother. And a vampire with a growing trail of bloodless corpses behind her. When a hunt at Miller University goes disastrously wrong, leaving witnesses instead of bodies, her carefully constructed double life begins to unravel. What follows is not a slow burn, but a tightening vise of consequences closing in around her.
The story escalates when Trish targets a pure-hearted professor, a choice that proves fatal in more ways than one. His death draws the attention of a vengeful cousin and a group of violent accomplices, leaving Trish captured and facing a terrifying ultimatum: escape and protect her family, or lose everything she’s fought to preserve. All the while, the looming threat of her husband discovering the truth adds a suffocating layer of tension.
What truly sets Blood apart is its emotional depth. Trish is not written as a distant monster, but as a deeply complex woman shaped by trauma, loss, and survival. Chapters exploring her past, particularly how she was turned at a young age, are haunting and unexpectedly tender. These moments humanize her in ways that make her violence unsettling rather than gratuitous, allowing the reader to empathize even when they recoil.
The present-day chapters are where the horror sharpens its teeth. Once Trish’s hunger takes center stage, the narrative becomes relentless. The violence is graphic, unflinching, and absolutely not for the faint-hearted. When everything goes wrong during her next hunt, the novel plunges into chaos, bloody, desperate, and breathless. Trish is cornered, and she fights back with ferocity fueled by maternal instinct and pure survival.
The final act is intense and shocking, refusing neat resolutions. It leaves the reader unsettled, emotionally bruised, and eager for what comes next.
Hunger. Desperation. Terror. A mother's love knows no bounds— neither does her appetite.
Blood is the first book in the Trish Vampire Horror Series by K.T. Rose. This is a dark and suspenseful dive into a supernatural horror story, blending maternal instincts with a monstrous nature, but in a way that felt both chilling and yet still somewhat relatable. The story follows Trish, the seemingly perfect suburban mom who hides a deadly secret - she’s actually a century-old vampire and a seasoned killer. Her carefully constructed double life begins to unravel when a ‘hunt’ goes wrong, setting off a chain of events that threatens her family and her very existence. Trish is a well-developed and complex character, torn between her predatory instincts and her fierce love for her family. The tension between these two sides of her personality creates a compelling internal struggle that definitely added an extra element of interest and depth to the tale. While I did enjoy the story, there were parts that felt quite ‘wordy’, which slowed the flow and pulled me out of the story. I did have a little trouble connecting with the character/s, but I got there in the end. I felt that the ‘villain’ could have used a little more depth and development to make more of an ‘impact’. But, overall, ‘Blood’ is a thrilling start to what promises to be a great series. Bring on Book #2. Happy Reading…
Love the design of the front cover and although i have read alot of vampire books i still really enjoyed this.
Meet Trish the vampire and the daily life and her challenges, i read a few sample chapters before requesting this and the first few chapters was enough to hook me into requesting this book from Booksirens.
I feel as a reader you really do get to know Trish really well and her inner monologue is done really well, i think there is a good contrast in her everyday life and trying to keep it together as well as her darker side and how she survives. The challenges that Trish faces in one evening is quite astounding and jam packed. This takes on a whole new level of a story and we actually forget what she really did intend to go out for, bet Trish wishes she had stayed in.
I like the fact that its a series as it is something that i would read more of as i think it was interesting and action packed. The writing flowed and was very easily readable i felt at times i wanted to binge it in the middle of all the action and thinking oh whats going to happen next.
Blood is a horror thriller novel that blends supernatural horror with serial killer vibes. As the first book in Rose’s new series, The Trish Vampire Series, this book worked really well to set up much of the back story, full of violence, tension, and the feeling that your safety, even through the pages, isn’t safe. Following the story of Trish, she is more a force of nature than your traditional MFC heroine. She is portrayed as morally complex (sometimes dark) and leaves you feeling a driving need for survival in all her actions. The horror was very graphic, leaving blood smeared across the pages, and kept you guessing if you were the hunter or the hunted. I loved how quickly this book pulled me under its spell. With short chapters and the visuals turned up to 11, I couldn’t put this one down for anything. So far, this is book 1 of 3, so I’m eager to get my hands on the next two books to continue this series. If you are looking for a good horror novel that will make you want to sleep with the lights on, then this is the book for you!
I went in REALLY excited because, mom vampire fiction, ummmm, yes please! I wish I loved this one, I liked it, but I wanted to LOVE it. I think the author is very talented and has a very engaging writing style. I really liked that they didn't try to make the dark side super glossed over. I LOVED that Trish isn't a Twilight vampire (no hate to Twilight.) I felt like the book was heavy on telling and not showing, there was a lot of exposition that wasn't really needed, particularly in the first half. Even the fight scenes felt pretty drawn out. My other issue is that most of the side characters felt pretty two dimensional. I will say, my favorite parts of the book where Trish's flashbacks to her previous life. That being said, I am not sure I will follow the series, I wasn't left with a sense of burning need to know.
I received an advanced reader copy, this is my honest and voluntary review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5 stars) I’ve always had a soft spot for vampire stories and I’ll read them in just about any form. Blood gave me what I was craving: dark vibes, family drama, and that eternal tug of war between monster and mother. Trish is one complicated vamp, and honestly? I liked her messy, torn between two worlds energy.
There were moments where things felt a little rushed, like I wanted more time to soak in the world before everything went sideways. The pacing had me flipping pages, but sometimes I just wanted to pause and feel it all more.
I loved the fresh twist of seeing a vampire juggling motherhood and secrecy. It’s not your typical fangs and forbidden romance setup. More blood, less brooding, which I appreciated.
A solid 3.5 for me. Dark, quick, and sharp with potential for the series to really sink its teeth in.
Blood: The Trish Vampire Horror Series by K. T. Rose is one of my favorite books that I've read this year. This story held my attention captive from the moment I met our main character, Trish. Her story is one of tragedy due to a circumstance that she never asked to be put into. She lives her eternal life regretting not listening to the advice of her wise mother, leaving her to live a life of worry and fear of being discovered for what she truly is, a monster. Now, as Trish reflects on her past, as she lives in the here and now, she must fight to protect the one thing that means the most to her, the love of her family, and protect them from finding out who and what she is. What a magnificent twist on a classic tale, where motherhood meets a fantastical creature of the night. I cannot wait to get started on the second book in this exciting new series! @Brandy Rymer 11/2025
This book kept me on my toes. It was definitely horror and dark and a different spin on the typical vampire stories. Good story line as well as nicely developed characters. Definitely a thriller and kept me wanting to know what was in store next as well as wanting to know more about Trish and her history. Excited to read the second book.
I'm ALL for vampire books! any kind really! the cover got me interested and from the first sentence, I was HOOKED! I've never read anything like this. A vampire that's married to a human and lives a "normal" life? She cares more about her family than feeding herself? I can't wait to read the rest of the series and more from the author!
I am a vampire girl through and through and I had no idea how much I needed this book for my collection! The unique twists to this book was perfect! Vampire Serial Killer, enough said!
And a mom to boot! Absolutely am adding this to my favorites list! Moms can be monsters but also, Monsters can be moms!
Excited to read book 2 and 3 and Highly recommend this unique and awesome vampire horror!
Thank you BookSirens for the copy to read, and review. I really liked this one. It was both fun and unique. I am a big fan of vampire stories. Books with fantasy elements are what got me into reading years ago. I will definitely read the future books of this series. I am invested.
I was really enthralled with this book. Most fascinating to me was even though she is a vampire she still had a human child. I can not wait to read more from this author. I’m absolutely in love with this series. It’s very fascinating that a ring hides her true nature and she is able to blend in.
Can you say hooked from the beginning? I loved everything about thins novel from the gore, to the flashbacks, to Trish’s love for her son and husband. Reading about how she loves a double life and the need to protect her secret kept me on the edge of my seat. What a wonderful start to the series.
The author did a great job making sure you got your know Trish. The first few chapters had me hooked! This was my first fantasy horror type story and I did enjoy it! I plan to read that rest of the series.
