Rafe the wolf and Karo the human. This was kinda like 'old school' paranormal. No pack or hidden society. Just Rafe and his family history. Rafe has lived his whole life in a small town in Texas on the edge of a national park. But modern life is making it harder and harder to for him to shift and run as a wolf. Hunting cameras, the web, and the usual asshats that don't care. It's not an anti-hunting book though. Rafe himself is a hunter in his spare time, but the kind who is respectful of his environment. He meets Karo at the local bar and it's instant lust for both of them. It was a great scene with just a few lines and they are on their way like they are under each other's spell. Karo is a zoologist who works in Alaska but is visiting because of rumors of wolves migrating to East Texas. Rafe is an awesome blend of beta and alpha and Karo is a woman who walks her own path. I liked that they were just regular people. No secret billionaire bullsh*t. For only 100 pages, it's a full and fairly unpredictable read.
Rafe has always been both man and wolf and no one has ever known his secret, it'd be too dangerious for him if anyone knew. But when he's accidently spotted in wolf form everything hes ever known could change if the wrong people learn he's the wolf.
Karoline lives to protect wolves, so when a report comes in about a wolf in Texas of all places so goes to invistigate. But what she finds there is nothing like what she was expecting.
This was a short quick read about Karoline and Rafe and their journey to finding each other and Rafe learning to trust others with his secret.
Karo is full of sass and spunk and when she cares about something you can see the passion she has for it in the way she talks and acts.
Rafe has been alone for so long, it's all he knows and trying to figure out how to allow things to be different is quite the task for him.
Their love story plays out pretty fast, but the story itself is interesting. My only wish was for there to have been more to the story!
This was a great read. I am a huge fan of shifter novels but unfortunately so many authors turn them into ridiculous drivel. I'm glad Sable didn't make her wolf shifter super powered like other authors do. Some other things I liked. It had a little bit of comedy which I love in the books i read, even suspense books. It also had just the right amount of suspense and it had off the charts loved scenes. I have read just about every book Sable has written and I have yet to find a book of hers I didn't like. The ending of the book has me hoping she will one day write another shifter novel. She obviously has a knack for them. Thanks Sable for the books you write that take me away from my reality and give me a litte peace while I am enjoying them. Take care & God bless you and your talent.
Bought and read this one yesterday and I have to say it's probably one of my favorite books written by Sable Hunter! It's a bit different than she usually writes (probably why I liked it more?) I love her books but they can all seem the same after a while. So I love that this one was so different.
Add this title to the long list of Sable Hunter novels I've been unable to put down until the wee hours of the morning. My only complaint is that I wish it could have been even longer.
