About the author

Going Against the Tide is a journal charting a path for communist revolution in the US. To that end, we publish analysis of contemporary political developments and the deeper history of capitalism, articles addressing the strategic challenges of making revolution in the present, and polemics against ideologies and politics that hold the masses back from overthrowing the system. Other features of Going Against the Tide include revolutionary art and songs, pamphlets analyzing various social questions from a communist perspective, reports of social investigation among the masses, and summations of communist political work. While our focus is on the contemporary US, Going Against the Tide will also engage with the views and experiences of revolutionaries outside the US and throughout history.
Going Against the Tide publishes documents, statements, summations, and training manuals from the Organization of Communist Revolutionaries (OCR) in the US. While the overall politics of this journal are informed by the ideology, politics, and strategic direction of the OCR, not every article should be taken as the official political line of the OCR. Going Against the Tide is open to submissions, even some with substantial differences with its politics, so long as those submissions meet its standards and advance its revolutionary objectives. We welcome correspondence and critical feedback, and we especially want to hear from those with a desire to join up with others dedicating their lives to revolution. For more about our journal, read our opening editorial, “Introducing Going Against the Tide, and picking up where kites left off.”
Going Against the Tide journal is published quarterly. In addition to our journal, Going Against the Tide also publishes reprints of some of its content, and selected content from the journal kites, in book form. The journal kites was the predecessor of Going Against the Tide. A strategic collaboration between communists in the US and Canada, kites published eight issues from 2020 to 2023. Selected material from kites, as well as other documents of interest to our readers, can be found in the library section of our website, www.goingagainstthetide.org.
