When a book starts with the Hero having just finished banging his ex wife it can be a bit off putting. I wasn't sure I would end up reading all this book after that start.

Add into that the fact that there was no descriptions about what the characters looked like; the writing was probably the least descriptive I've ever read about - it mostly consisted of conversations and little else for a good deal of the book. And I was left on the fence.

Having said all that I ended up enjoying the book a lot more when we got more inner dialogue from the main characters and with that a more descriptive style of writing. I understand it can be a problem with novellas to add in details when there are so little pages, but the start of this would have been a lot better if more detail was added.

After the 70% mark I was hooked though and started to connect with the characters more. It was nice to have a female lead that was more concerned with keeping her job then messing about with her boss. But that can only last so long, now I want some sexy times in book 2.

I inadvertently selected two books in the contemporary romance genre about office romance that were more teasers for the next book than a fully developed story. As an author, I understand the strategy. As a reader, I'm not a fan of this method of marketing.

This was a fun read even though it ended with a cliffhanger but will continue to see what happens.
Billionaire, Will, who's more in love with his money meets Elle, a strong and determined female character, at a charity and decides to give her a chance at a job but ends up falling for her instead.

Tempted by the Boss is the first novella in the Tempted series by Hazel Kelly. In this book we are introduced to Ella and Will. Ella is out of work and had to move back in with her mother while she finds a new job. Ella's mother invites her to a charity dinner being hosted by Will who owns rather wealthy and invests in Ella's mothers charity.

This book is another case of I just really didn't care for the characters at all. Nothing particularly wrong with the writing but it just wasn't my taste.

Ella rubbed me the wrong way to start when her mother says it was her fault Ella needed money which Ella bitterly thinks to herself that her mother could've helped her pay for her "overpriced" college education. Her mother had used the money for the homeless shelter that she devotes all her time to and helping other people. Immediate dislike of the somewhat shallow and selfish way Ella seemed.

Will starts off his part of the story sleeping with his ex-wife and giving a general overview of being a rich jerk. Then when meeting Ella it's pretty much buy his way into her life with a promise of a job and rigging the charity giveaway for a date with her.

Not too much to the plot in this other than the beginning for these two as it seems to be a 5 book series but after the first I don't believe I'd have any reason to continue.

Overall, quick read, decent writing but not to my liking.

STARS: 5
POV: First
SERIES: Yes
CLIFFHANGER: Yes

First, I want to talk about Ella. I love her character. She’s strong and determined. Despite having to move back home after college and living with her mom in a cramped apartment, Ella is goal oriented and does everything she can to make a name for herself. She’s the type of heroine that I like to read about. She stands her ground and doesn’t take anything from anyone. So from the beginning, I loved Ella.

Her mother runs a charity organization and that leads Ella to meet the rich and sexy Will Abbott at the famous Abbott Hotel. Immediately, Will is attracted to Ella and not only for her looks. Will is enamored by the confident strong Ella and is hoping to get to know her very intimately.

Will is also a very determined man. He is used to getting what he wants. Unfortunately for him, Ella is not giving in to him. She resists his constant flirtation, especially after he offers her a trial job at his hotel. It’s a dream come true for Ella. Right now, all she wants to do is focus on her career and get out on her own.

The chemistry between Will and Ella is amazing. They each give and take. It’s entertaining to read their conversations and you can almost feel the sexual tension between them. The story had me on edge the whole time wondering not only if but also when would Ella finally give in to Will. She denies him for many reasons with the most important being that she wants the trial job to me on a more permanent basis. Her moral compass is leading her to not sleep with her boss. She wants people to know that she got the job on merit and not because she’s the boss’s new bed toy. (See why I love her so!)

Will Ella give in? Will Ella get the job she desires? You’ll have to read to find out! The story is truly addictive. Luckily for me, the second volume is out and I can go straight into it after this one. The book was well written and Hazel Kelly shows massive potential for this to be an exciting tale of Will and Ella.

Really?

Not fair that you cut off the story in the middle of the best part.
I never found out who Jackie was or what was she to Ella, I wish the beginning wasn't so boring by the way I almost quit the book because the starting was too slow and boring

Not crazy about this one🙃

Ella just graduated from college and gets a job at Will’s company. She needs a job because she hates living with her mom and has student loans to pay (Pretty much the story of any college graduate out there). I did not like her mentality that her dad’s insurance money should have been spent on her studies and not on her mom’s non for profit organization. She sounded entitled there IMHO. 😏 she was way too critical to her mother’s apartment and situation. I did not like her attitude and mentality, too self centered for my taste.

Will was also not my favorite. He’s still having relations with his ex, he basically uses her for sex because it’s convenient and handy. He says he doesn’t love her and probably never did. Then he meets Ella and hits on her immediately during his company charity party. Who does that? That’s a harassment lawsuit in the making in this day and age. The boy is not too subtle! He rigs the silent auction and guess who wins the super prize? Ella! He even sets a job interview that same night based on....I don’t know. He gets infatuated with her and can’t stop thinking about her, she does the same and in the end of this book they become very intimate for people that had no real interaction other than a handful of conversations.

The end leaves you hanging since there are four more books (I expected it) but I’m not interested in continuing the series. I realized that I did not even know how the characters actually look like physically after finishing the book🤣. This book was absolutely predictable, been there done that, formulaic and did not have very pleasant character development to sustain my interest. Meh!

Tempted by the Boss is the first book in the Tempted series and the first book I've read of this author. I love reading new books from new to me authors! Many times, I find myself wanting to read a truly great book that will entertain me and this book did just that! I loved the plot and the chemistry between the two main characters was sizzling! Not only that, but the story-line was so much fun to read!

Ella Riley is down on her luck. She needs to find a job to help both herself, and her mother, but not everyone is willing to hire a college student fresh out of school. When Ella gets offered her dream job at the prestigious Abbott Hotel, she can't believe her luck. She also can't stop thinking about her handsome boss, Will, and can't stop staring at him.

Determined to keep things professional between them, Ella vows to impress her new boss, even if that means pushing aside her desire and feelings for him. She needs this job to become permanent in order to pay off her student debts and to help her mother as well.

But everything changes once she realizes that her boss doesn't just see her as an employee. He never as.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It's a fast read, but the story flows well and the characters are very well-developed and entertaining. I really like Ella's character. She knows what she wants and won't stop until she has it. Not only that, but she's smart and very creative, which I really love!

And her boss, Will, is amazing! His character was my favorite to read about because his thoughts were both funny and honest. He always says what's on his mind, which I love in a main character. I also enjoyed the duo Pov's. This book does end in a cliffhanger, but nothing too major.

I highly recommend this book!

"He was staring at me like I was a unicorn or something, like he was as enchanted by me, as he was happy to see me."

"I'm sick of getting hurt....And no one's ever had more power to hurt me than you do."

There’s a reason I don’t like short stories. They either move too fast or they aren’t done right. Now, I admit, there are some that I like, there are a few exceptions but this one just wasn’t done right.

No description of the characters, I had no idea what they looked like, no visuals. I need visuals, I want a book that is written so well that I can see it like a movie in my head and I’m sure other readers want that as well. I had no idea what the characters looked like but I did know what the dresses, places, and the party looked like.

Hardly any action, mostly just pages of dialogue with a “she said” or them doing a little something while they talked but that was it.

I am giving it two stars instead of one because when there was action, it was fun to read, enough to keep me reading.

If it was longer, I think it would have been better.

The writing, when the characters weren’t talking, was alright. I can’t say that I was impressed but, I have two more books by this author from two more series, so here’s to hoping they’ve been written better.

I want to like it but, with no visuals of the characters and hardly any descriptions, I just can’t get into it all that much.

Thank you for reading my review.

intriguing read

there are so many "bosses and employees" books available so I didn't think this one would be any different. I started the book before I went to my granddaughters basketball game but I couldn't wait to see what happened in the book, so I read throughout the basketball game and into the night. I can't wait to get the next book. a very enjoyable read.

Total snoozefest, nothing to keep me reading, and very lame and tame for my tastes.

As I have not read this author before I wanted to give it a go.
It would have been good if the book was slightly longer so we could get a better sense of the characters, as well as descriptions. I also feel Ella needed to be kinder to her Mother. The insurance money that was used to set up a charity may have paid for her education, but her mother had lost her husband to get that money. She probably felt helpless and wanted to help others.
But other than that I really enjoyed it. I did like Will. The plot was predictable but a quick and enjoyable read. I did buy the rest of the series afterwards as I wanted to know what happened!

Good Start To The Series.

This is the first book in this series. I like the story. Not a fan of the way it is formatted. Just seems to take up more pages. This book is about Elle. She is a recent college graduate. Looking for her first job. Just moved back home after a bad break up. Her mom makes her go to an event fundraiser for her shelter where she meets Will. Owner of the hotel and very rich man. She catches his eye.

I really enjoyed this book – I thought that it was great!

It was really well written and even though it was a quick read it was a complete page turner!

I loved the storyline, the detail and the attention to that was great – the characters were strong and well developed and it was really easy to read.

It is a perfect start to the series and I can’t wait to read the next book

It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!

Great start

Great start to the series. I'm a little disappointed that there was so contact between them until the last couple of pages. I'm hoping the next book moves faster. They make a great couple and I'm interested in seeing where it all leads.

Wonderful read but Cliffhanger ahead

Really loved this book. Great story line, wonderful detail, and awesome chemistry. I’m not normally the type to like a cliffhanger but I have to admit already looking for the next in the series!

Ella was staying with her mother in a small cramped apartment. When you her mom asked her to go to a charity event she didn't want to. She never knew this be a big change in her life. After the Christmas party did she blow this and the thing with her boss Will.

This book doesn't give a discription of the main characters until chapter seven. When we learn Will's eyes are grey green, and chapter eight when Will describes Ella's eyes as dark, except they're very attractive. Not Impressed!!

O-Kay Now!

Thanks for showing all the other romance authors what sex appeal without taking off any clothes looks, sounds and feels like! This had all the feel-good, dirty, sexy thoughts without the dirty sex. Truthfully, it was all foreplay! How brilliant is that!

Tempted by the Boss

Sorry but this was a lot of smoke and no fire. Some series are stand alone for each book but this was not the case for this one. The story continues in book 2.
No cliffhanger at the end it just sort of fizzles out
