I found this book on a random shelf on my grandparents wall, by pure chance, I picked up this book and gave it a shot. Typically, I am not a reader of nonfiction or books pertaining to the readers daily life. Only a short while after walking into this book, I feel as if I had come out of it truly seeing. As a younger reader, it is untrue of me to say I understand all the points made and advice given, but I suppose that can only come with time. It is true to say however, that after reading this, my perception of time and friendship and relationships has changed greatly. It is the sort of book that makes you have a sense of hope for not only other people and the world, but also for your own self improvement. So i must thank the authour of this timeless book that can affect people of any age over 100 years later
This small book penned in 1893 was life changing for me as a woman. It was written for the group of women graduating from college and the challenges they would be facing as they entered adulthood. It has been a frequently referenced book in my life and can't recommend it enough.
A must read for anyone interested in depth of thought, freindship, and lasting advice. One of my favorite quotes from the book is, "Let us be slow to make friends, but, having once made them, let us pray that niether life nor death, misunderstanding, distanc, nor doubt, may ever come between us, to vex our peace." One of the current versions of the 1893 classic is on 31 pages of jam-packed inspiration and motivation. It's worth while!
