The Prince and Me meets Scandal in this royally high-spice, forbidden romance, from Amazon bestselling author Cleo White.

Not every Once-Upon-A-Time ends in a Happily-Ever-After.

My fairytale, for instance, didn’t come with a handsome Prince Charming, a night at the ball, or a magical pumpkin carriage.

Instead, I got a bearded, bad-tempered king, a sex party for rich people, and a driver waiting to take me home after the royal asshole was finished with me.

And they lived Not So Happily Ever After.

The End.

That should be it, right? Even missing some conventional fairytale elements, it’s clear no one is riding off into the sunset in the tale of the grumpy king and the naïve, much younger actress.

Except, a positive pregnancy test just proved that, in this fairytale, the end isn’t the end at all.

It's the beginning.

Cleo White's affinity for all things dramatic and hopelessly romantic began the day she was born, which happened to be in the middle of a record-breaking snowstorm on Valentine’s Day. Her love of literature came soon after, and she spent the better part of her childhood with both a book and a notebook full of unfinished stories in hand. Later in life, she found a love of writing spicy books with complicated characters and dysfunctional family drama. Cleo currently lives in Vermont with her husband and two daughters. When not writing, she can be found hiking, gardening, painting, and consuming excessive quantities of caffeine.

The way that this book was everything. Let's get into it 😋:

First of all, let me start by saying I was going absolutely feral when I saw the tropes and promo for this book:
👑 Age gap
👑King x Actress
👑Fake dating
👑 Accidental pregnancy
👑 Grump x sunshine

HELLO?!?!?! It's literally my dream. And now, having finished it, I can confidently say that it delivered in all the ways that I needed it to. This felt like if 'Second Edition' and 'Actor' by this author had a baby 😭.

∘₊✧─── The writing & Plot ───✧₊∘

"It's dangerously easy to forget it's all fake."

If you look at any of my reviews for CW's book, spanning years back, I always say that I wish that they were longer. And let me tell you this, it was exactly what I've always hoped for. I feel like this book is the epitome of what I mean when I say I want 'more' from a book. It was so detailed and genuine, and CW's writing style suits full-length novels so much it's not even funny.

She always manages to put so much emotion into such short stories, so the fact that we got to see it become fully fleshed out like this is so amazing, and I literally need so many more books like this.

To be honest, I was a bit nervous when I saw the second chance trope, because if you know me, I don't mesh all that well with it- but I'm so surprised how much I adored this story and how it played out. I think one big thing about it was how the conflict was written.

It's been a hot minute since I've read a fake dating story, but I really liked how differently the 'conflict' was approached in this one. Typically with the trope, you have a misunderstanding that usually ends with a third-act breakup, or drama towards the end of the book- and I've never really liked it because it usually feels very out of character (depending on the story), or just added for the sake of it.

But in this one, it was really interesting because the conflict happened in the beginning, and set up the dynamic for the relationship, and stayed very true to the second chance aspect of it- because there was no other conflict at all, and instead just focused on reestablishing and rebuilding the already existing relationship. They only went through one main hurdle, and didn't overcomplicate the story more than that.

And let me tell you, I LOVED it. Everything that happened made SO much sense for the characters individually, and I really appreciated it. Did I get frustrated at times? Yes.
But did it make sense why the characters acted in the way that they did?
Defintely.

I also loved how the royalty part to the story felt, and how prominent and detailed it was. It was so fun reading about the country's (Stelland's) traditions and all the articles. The easiest way to put it is that it just felt so fun.

∘₊✧─── The Characters ───✧₊∘

"He's a king, and I'm a Hollywood nepo baby."

In terms of the characters, I wasn't ready to become as obsessed as I did 😭. Zelda was an absolute sweetheart, and I wanted nothing but the best for her. I loved that although she was a 'sensitive' person, she protected herself and stood her ground, and in the cases that she didn't, she was always honest with herself. She was flawed, but realistically so.

And then there was King Benedict.

"...everytime I look at her, I find myself wanting to look longer."

Do not even get me started on the things I have to say about him 💀. I'm claiming him right now, he's a new book boyfriend. I'm actually obsessed with him, it's not even funny. He had so much weight on his shoulders, and the way that he cared for Zelda was everything. He made a big mistake at the beginning of the story, but his regret and how he approached it really made up for it. He was very silent with his struggles, but the way he opened up throughout the story was so worth it.

"It is one thing to find the love of your life, but entirely another to see yourself as deserving of such happiness."

He reminded me a lot of Cash from 'Actor' by this author, with how he felt about himself. Aside from him being a literal king, his thought process and the way that he would self-sabotage at times felt so relatable. And to see the pain and regret of those actions, and realizing what you thought was a good idea in the moment was all for nothing, was so genuine.

Also the mouth on him 🙂‍↕️. He literally had me-

With the side characters, I really liked them. Like I said earlier, the story felt really fleshed out. I loved how comedic the story felt at times, and the relationships in this book. From friends to family, it felt really full.

∘₊✧──────✧₊∘

Overall, I fell in love with this story. The characters were everything, and I'll definitely be rereading this again. It has to be a new favourite of mine by this author. I need more books in this world, I'm completely obsessed. ZeldaBenedict completely altered my brain chemistry.

Lots of love and thanks to Cleo White for the ARC 🖤

safe-ish?!

MMC (41/42?) is a newly appointed King {a year}
He also came from a very public divorce more than a year ago {ex-wife had few appearances; did not cause any ruckus}
FMC (25) Nepo Baby, full American rising actress

Kinda Fake Dating

MMC is very experienced;
- Frequented private orgies/sex parties during his bachelorhood
- Had lovers, Had his "more than a fair share" of women.
- Tried to produce an heir with his ex-wife who he had been for ten years.
- It has been "so fucking long" ever since he has been with a woman according to him
- Best sex for him was FMC he said
- First love is FMC
- Asshole
- Everything he does just rubs me the wrong way
- Too much pushing away from him
- Annoying, old-hag
- He is not as attractive as he and fmc thinks he is
- Has too much baggage (of course)

FMC is inexperienced
- only has been with two or three men in her life
- only had mediocre sex
- it has been years for her
- according to her, neither of her previous partners were as well-endowed as MMC
- of course, he is her best sex
- Pushover, spineless, weak asf. easily gives in to MMC. Never even put on a fight or showed a bit of sass or fangs
- Almost a blank canvas

Congratulations to the Ex-Wife for dodging this manchild.

To the FMC, giiirl he is not the catch you thought he was.

No one writes a forbidden age gap romance like Cleo White! And throw in a King MMC and I am HOOKED. From the beginning, these two had absolutely undeniable chemistry and I was so in love with them. The hero, though, doesn't think he could ever deserve love and happiness, especially with a divorce and running a country that he doesn't want to run. But when the public gets wind that he hooked up with a young actress, they are actually excited and the media wants more. So his team proposes a fake dating situation. Little does he know, she's actually pregnant from their weekend of passion...I loved how the surprise pregnancy was handled in here and I never felt like the hero was settling or only having feelings because she was pregnant. He was a bit of a jerk at first because he never thought it could work between them, but he falls SOOOOOOO HARD by the end of the book and I just loved that so much. This definitely gave Prince & Me vibes and I was so here for it! I definitely recommend picking up this one!!

Coronation might be my new favorite book by Cleo White! I’m a sucker for The Prince & Me, and this gave me ALL of those feels! Coronation follows the chance meeting between King Benedict and Zelda. Influenced by their respective friends, these two attend a highly secret, exclusive sex party for the rich and famous. Zelda, being a famous American actress from a known family, gets an invite from a co-worker, and ends up catching the eye of the King, who needed a chance to get away from the pressures of his newfound royal duties. From here, what was supposed to be a night of lust turns into a surprise connection between two people that didn’t quite end how she planned. Especially when she turns up with a positive pregnancy test.

I absolutely ADORED Ben and Zelda. Their connection was an intimate one (both in and out of the bedroom), even when Ben has to work hard to regain Zelda’s trust. The fake dating aspect of this book was the perfect opportunity for them to spend time together and truly see what a relationship could be like. Zelda is a woman who has been told she loves too hard and too much, and Ben has been told he’s not lovable enough to even warrant the love of his country. Both things couldn’t be further from the truth. Their respective upbringings affect who they are, and seeing them bring out the best in each other made me swoon.

Don’t even get me started on the spice. I’ve said before that this author has a special talent for writing her steamy scenes in a way that elevates the emotional intimacy between the characters. Zelda and Ben’s love for each other was clear to the reader before it was clear to the characters, and it made you root for them even more.

I HIGHLY recommend reading this book! I loved Zelda, Ben, their journey, and the entire cast of characters who supported them along the way. I can’t wait to see who is up next in this series!

What to Expect: royal family (he’s the King), age gap, fake dating, unplanned pregnancy, grumpy/sunshine, second chance, forced proximity

holy airball, wtf was this whole mess,

book stars our fmc here Zelda is an actor who can't act a sensual scene because she doesn't have orgasm never (PLEASE STOP WITH THIS TROPE I AM ON MY KNEES BEGGING) so her friend recommends a once a month sex club 🙂🙂🙂 and imminently our mmc can make her come so they spend whole weekend together and he lovebombs her then leaves her in his cottage without saying bye while she is sleeping. Now he does this leaving thing THREE TIMES like are you kidding me she never says no to him btw never a scene where she has a resemblance of a spine and even two or three times she says to us example

This is hardly the first time, but the frustration gets a little more acute each time King Benedict pushes me away, because— dear god— will I ever learn?

like i don't understand authors purpose of doing this (mmc thinks he wants her/in love with her, but cant marry, if I'm reading a romance book i expect mmc to be an active doing whatever it takes persona he is literally a KING) after third time of her being a fool someone takes a photo of him looking at her yearning, so his approval rate goes high, and he wants to fake date her yada yada it just made me so mad, if you write three scenes of rejecting after sex write a bigger grovel there was no grovel at all!!! i did feel his love that's why 2 stars but like bare fucking minimum.

Safety both been celibate for a while, he was way more experienced, but he didn't come across as manwhore, never loved anyone before her. There is a scene where they go to his ex wife's art exhibit but nothing happens, theirs was an arranged marriage.

Quotes

I was married for ten years and didn’t experience even a shadow of the raw devotion which fills me now, illogical and confusing as it may be.

I don’t look at her as I dress. I don’t look at her as I stride to the door. I don’t look at her as I leave. It’s better this way.

A foul taste fills my mouth. I’ve thought about that morning a lot, as well as my motives for doing such a wretched thing in the first place, and keep coming to the same conclusion: I didn’t see a way forward for us, and I was furious. Not at her— god no, I doubt I could ever be truly angry with Zelda Flowers— but at my own damned life. In that anger and frustration, I did something I can’t take back, and fate has done a truly outstanding job of throwing it all back in my face. “It doesn’t matter now,” I say tightly, not looking at my brothers. “What’s done is done.”

Honestly, I was drawn to this by the marketing of "The Prince and Me" meets "Scandal," (two of my absolute favorites) and while this was very different in many ways, I still had fun! This is my first time reading Cleo White and I'm looking forward to reading more!

Coronation is centered on the whirlwind romance after a one night stand turned short term hookup results in an unplanned pregnancy—between King Benedict I, 41, of Stelland, and American actress Zelda Flowers, 25. Being in both characters' heads as they worked and navigated their lives made this very fun and interesting! The writing was very entertaining and engaging, and I thought the side characters were very substantial and present, which is always good to see.

Whenever I see a royal romance between a royal and an American actress my mind obviously goes to Meghan and Harry, but this is not like their love story at all, which I didn't mind! If for whatever reason you avoid royal x American actress romance novels for that reason (please be normal and resist the urge to say you don't like them) you have nothing to fear here! Overall I really enjoyed this and want a series? LOL! I need to see what the brothers and Davina get into—if that is together or apart, I won't mind either way!

When it comes to the romance, I felt like it was very lust-based. It starts off instalust and gets more and more lusty each time they meet. I didn't completely feel like Ben and Zelda had a solid relationship where I felt like they knew important things about each other—or at least the barebones things one should know before they get married and have a baby together. While I didn't mind the spice and thought it was well-written, I also wanted to sink into a romance where I felt like they were solid and held each other up. Ben felt somewhat flighty, and Zelda was very likable but she did a lot of hand-wringing/internal monologuing instead of communicating. I did wish Stelland felt less like England, but that is something I feel about a lot of royal romances I read, so I can't stand firm on that critique.

I also felt like Zelda's name was nuts LOL. Zelda Moon Flowers? I can see how this is by design because she's a nepo baby, has a hippie mother, and is an actress, but it also was hard to ignore. I knew this was grumpy x sunshine, but Ben felt grumpy just to be grumpy and largely had no reason to behave that way because he was decidedly resigned to/okay with his charge in life, but was randomly a jerk in a way that didn't make sense at his big age.

Thank you to Luna's Literary and the author for the ARC!

Coronation by Cleo White
4,5/5⭐
3/5🌶️

I've always been a huge fan of Cleo's books, and this one definitely lives up to my expectations! When I heard it was going to be longer than her previous works, I was so excited. I just knew I would fall in love with this story, and when I saw the tropes involved, my excitement skyrocketed!

The story revolves around Benedict, who unexpectedly has to step into the role of King after a tragic plane crash takes his brother and his whole family. It's a big change for him since he never wanted the crown and the responsibilities that come with it. One day, his sibling nudges him to go to an exclusive party, encouraging him to meet someone and unwind. That’s where he encounters Zelda, and instead of just a quick fling, he finds himself wanting to spend more time with her.

Zelda is such a charming character—an American actress from a wealthy family who's been focusing on her career after a rough breakup. When she struggles with an intimate scene for a movie, a friend encourages her to join the exclusive party, leading her to Benedict.

The chemistry between Ben and Zelda is electric from their first meeting! They quickly realize there’s something deeper connecting them. I really loved how smitten Ben was with Zelda. When he realizes he's made a mistake, he’s determined to win her back, and his groveling moments are just the best! Zelda keeps him on his toes, letting him woo her and proving his commitment. Let's not forget the spice—there's this one particular kink that normally isn’t my thing, but Cleo changed my mind and made that scene super hot!

All in all, this was another fantastic read from Cleo! I've enjoyed every single one of her books, and this one is definitely a must-read, especially if you're into the forbidden romance vibe between a grumpy reluctant King and a bright, heartthrob actress.

The first half was a mess of epic proportions that almost had me quitting this. The second half redeemed itself to decent even though the author wants you to suspend all kinds of belief to go along with the story and character motivations. Like a King who is not publicly liked going to a sex party and meeting the heroine where they have filthy sex with a tad of voyeurism but hey he's not worried cause all the attendees signed an "NDA". 😐 Where he pretty much falls in love with the younger heroine who he knows nothing about beyond her government name and takes her straight away to one of his estates for the weekend where they continue to have hot dirty sex and act like a happy giggly couple. Ok fine. But if you seriously expect me to believe on top of all that that any country with a ruling monarchy would accept

That's way too much suspending for one story for me. I mean 48 hours after meeting the heroine, having your King hero have a vivid dream about being married to her and asking him to impregnate her? 😕 Way too much. The idea is sweet but Cleo White's delivery ruined it with all the slap dash insta-love and insta-smut shoved into the first 50 pages of the book. It just took away the emotional angst for me. If it's a royal romance stop asking me to suspend belief in every damn thing. I can go along with a wild plot but let me at least believe in the love story.

The blurb teased The Prince & Me and what made that romcom so great was the slow burn and the heroine actually trying the Royal life on for size and realizing how vastly different they are. Here it felt like the plot was backwards. I honestly felt like I was reading a novella at times which made no sense and highlights the bizarre plot choices made here. Also, what kind of coronation procession has their King and Queen walking barefoot in the streets? BAREFOOT? 😳 In dirty ass streets? For what reason?? Sorry it's minor but my brain was cramping at that absurd visual. lol I know this is an imaginary European country and the author wanted to get creative with country traditions but this made no sense. And the nepo baby heroine being a famous American actress from California who is vegan with famous parents and overachiever famous siblings was a little eye-roll inducing. The fact that she broke the news of her marriage to her family during their "monthly zoom meeting" was just....yeah. 😬🙄

But I will give credit to Cleo White for actually using the "fake dating" trope fully. You know where we actually get to see the couple go on public outings and dates and ham it up for the cameras/press and building up the sexual tension with lingering touches and the hero trying to actually romance her. That was cute. I don't know why this trope is always such a misfire. It will forever be a mystery to me why so many authors struggle with this particular trope. But here it was nicely done. And note to self cause I know I'll forget: I may just come back to this series again when/if the hero's younger brother Leo gets a book. A royal prince having a speech impediment sounds very intriguing.

Thank you Luna Literary for this eARC

An American celebrity meets a king in an unconventional way and begins a steamy affair. The Prince and Me x Scandal vibes. I quite enjoyed it!

Cleo always does steam extra spicy which made for a great read. Things of note: some aspects dragged on and I found myself a little bored in areas.. this was dual pov, and for the Zelda’s chapters, hers were written with British slang (for example, sodden was used for wet) .. also her name being Zelda Moon Flowers cringed me out. Made her less likely to be taken serious, downgrading her “celebrity status”.. although I did really like her character and her likability, the name was a no for me.

Other than those two piece of details, this is a good read. I love anything royal family written and ate it up!

Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Spice: 3.5/5🌶️
*spice ratings are relative to similar books in the same genre*

The Catalog: F/M, age gap (16 years), actress FMC x grumpy King, sex party meet cute, insta-attraction, one night stand to fake dating, opposites attract, forbidden relationship, mutual pining, idiots in love, accidental pregnancy

Kink: exhibitionism, praise, cock warming, breeding kink, spanking

Synopsis: Famous actress, Zelda, is on set in beautiful Stelland feeling insecure about her ability to act sensually. When her friend suggests the go to a highly confidential sex party for the elite, Zelda takes a chance and goes outside of her comfort zone. King Benedict was never supposed to be king, and the weight of the responsibility has been too much to bear as of late. So when his brother offers an invitation to Europe’s premiere sex party, he takes a chance. When he sees Zelda for the first time, his entire world shifts.

Thoughts:
Full disclosure, I picked this one up because it promised cock warming, but omg, I stayed for the hallmark feels and deep longing between the characters as they navigated an impossible relationship. They want each other, but Benedict thinks he can’t have her due to his position, and Zelda is frustrated with his hot and cold act. Things get extra complicated when she realizes they’ve done something that will inexplicably tie them together for the rest of their lives.

The smut portion of this was very good. I really enjoyed it.

The only reason this didn’t get a full 5⭐️ is because, while Benedict has a full character arc, there were times when it was really hard to like him. In addition, his purposeful miscommunication regarding his feelings felt a little dragged out.

Such an enjoyable read! I loved the premise of this grumpy king with all the pressures and a Hollywood star meeting in a very naughty way, ending up in a total whirlwind romance.

This is quite a spicy book and starts out with a bang, lots of bangs, pretty much right away or close to it anyway. This continues on - so if you don’t like very spicy, don’t go for this one 😄

Their automatic connection was believable for me, they kind of just got each other and had a bit of banter but mostly there was this intense attraction. When I say this is a whirlwind romance, it really is! However, it was written well. I never felt like “ok but WHY do you like each other?” as I often do in insta-lust/insta-love romances, the bantery conversations and vulnerability moments were balanced well to make me really feel like I could understand how they felt this way.

Prince-and-Me-meets-Scandal in the blurb may be overselling it a bit, especially the Scandal part. It’s not as much drama as it could be around all that and the royal duties, though it plays a part. But it’s nothing major or shocking. Some of this story fits in line with a lot of milder royal romance stories, so not particularly groundbreaking but it is still a really captivating story and well written. I devoured this book in two sittings, reading over half in one go. So, I was really into it and didn’t want to put it down even if it’s nothing particularly new. The characters and the intensity were just great!

4/5 ⭐️ for a very enjoyable read that draws you in

This was a great read, a modern regency romance between a King who never wanted the throne and an American actress who becomes his world.

I’m a fan of Cleo White’s writing already, but this surpassed expectations. I loved the build up of the relationship, the drama, angst, and don’t even get me going on the spice 🥵

I very much enjoyed seeing Ben and Zelda’s relationship evolve, and even through there is a surprise pregnancy that isn’t what this whole book is about. It’s more of a plot point that add’s a little sweetness of anything.

Well done.

As always, Cleo has knocked my socks off with this book! I was lucky enough to beta read this for her and, honestly. I was a little anxious as pregnancy typically is an auto no for me, for personal reasons. However, I wanted to give her take on it a chance...and im so glad I did! If you're like me and don't always enjoy the pregnancy trope, try this one out.

First of all, thank you to Cleo and Danie for the ARC opportunity - what a privilege to be part of a permanent ARC team :)

Having been an avid reader of Cleo's other works, I was SO excited when I heard what the word count on this book is, and having even more pages to fall in to was wonderful.

Zelda and Ben were wonderful together. I loved the fact that they were both famous within their own right, it made them more unique and more equally balanced. Their instant attraction provided some brilliant spice early on, and we were rewarded the rest of the way the way through - no complaints here!

I also wish Stelland was a real place, although I could imagine it exactly as described.

The Flowers Family definitely intrigued me (esp Sybil), and seeing Cleo mention we'll learn more about them has me excited for future books!

6 freaking stars! Cleo did it again!! The Queen of age gap romances! This is by far one of the best books I’ve read this year! She never fails!! This book had me hooked, I finished it in 24 hours and I need more immediately 😮‍💨

I couldn’t put this book down, I absolutely loved our main characters and I’m a SIMP for King Benedict!! I’m obsessed with them and their love story! This was so different to my usual reads and Queen Cleo absolutely smashed it 🤩

King Benedict might have taken my number one stop from Ellis which I never saw coming but I’m not mad about it! I love a man obsessed and Ben was definitely this! I’m addicted to this man and I can’t say I blame him for being head over heels for our girl Zelda!!
Zelda has my heart, I loved her character so much. She has a heart of gold and I loved seeing every side to her character. I want to be her 💅🏻 Cleo writes the best FMCs!

I desperately wish I could read this story again for the first time, I had so many favourites moments and the spice is HOT 🤭 It’s always a good time when it’s a book by Cleo! I can’t wait for more! Take me back immediately please!!

Thank you so much for the ARC Cleo! I’m completely and utterly obsessed with them and this world 🤍

I absolutely love the grumpy/ sunshine trope and Ben is the grumpiest King while Zelda is all smiles. Gahh I loved it! Zelda & Ben are polar opposites, grew up quite differently, and years apart, yet they have that instant chemistry you can feel as you read. I thoroughly enjoyed how they both fell into playful banter from the beginning like they knew each other already. I couldn't help but smile as I read. My favorite part was how Ben chose to open up for Zelda, something he doesn't do, but he did for her. Instant swoon 🥰. Definitely recommend this!

I've been really excited to read this ever since it was announced, and I absolutely couldn't put it down. And while I might not be a fan of the accidental pregnancy trope in general, this book, however, is one of the exceptions. It's been a week since I finished this as I write this review, and I'm still not over them.

King Benedict and Zelda Flowers have a chance meeting when they're urged to go to a highly secretive and exclusive sex club. Zelda, who is looking to put an end to her dry spell, and Benedict, who is in need of an escape from his royal duties. What was supposed to be a way for them to meet strangers to let off some steam turns into more when the two seem to form a genuine connection. It was supposed to be just one night, but all that changes after a positive pregnancy test.

Benedict had the whole "I hate everyone but you" perfected to the T. You can't not love this man who has so much going on under his aloof demeanor. The kind of bond he shared with his brothers was proof of how much he cared but just wasn't too great at expressing himself. However, when it came to Zelda, he felt himself opening up in ways he never had before.

Zelda is a character you will fall in love with. She's kind, compassionate, and hardworking but also doesn't put up with bullshit, even if he's a literal king. I loved that Zelda took her time and was very clear about her stance on everything with Ben. Even though she was reluctant about getting on board with the fake dating arrangement with Ben, it was also exactly what she needed.

The relationship between Ben and Zelda just clicked right from the moment they laid eyes on each other. Everything between them felt so right, natural, and effortless. This was one of those books where the connection wasn't told, but you could actually feel it in the way these two interacted with each other. They did have a tumultuous relationship for sure, given that Benedict was a literal king, but the lengths he went to to make up for his mistakes and to take care of Zelda were swoonworthy. The conversations between them, the banter, and the looks(iykyk) all just cemented how well they fit. I also loved how the fake dating and second chance tropes played out in this scenario. My heart went out to both these characters for everything they endured while making sense of their feelings for each other. I loved both Benedict and Zelda as individual characters and as a couple.

The spice??? OMG!! I devoured every single second of it and still wanted more. Benedict and Zelda couldn't get enough of each other, and neither could I. I always love the spice in Cleo's books, but this one took it up several notches. King Benedict has quite the mouth on him because, good lorddddd the things he said and did with it. Zelda met him every step of the way. What I loved is that though there was quite a bit of spice (I definitely wanted more), it still didn't take away from the genuine feelings and relationship developing between Ben and Zelda.

I loved the side characters in this book. Both had complicated families, to say the least, but they were all endearing in their own way. I am very much looking forward to seeing which character gets a book next.

Thank you to Cleo White for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Leave it to Cleo White to completely change my mind on two tropes in one book 🤣

If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably know Cleo is one of the authors I talk a lot about and recommend for anyone who is into age gap or wants to get into age gap. But real talk y’all, when I heard she was writing an unexpected pregnancy AND royalty romance book, I got legit scared. While I don’t dislike these tropes, they’ve never called to me like other tropes. HOWEVER, I can safely say that is no longer the case!

Cleo did such a fantastic job creating Ben as a King but also a totally normal man!! At no point did I feel like he was overly pompous or what I thought a King would act like. He was a very guarded man whose background of growing up as the spare heir who ascended only added to the complexity of his character. There were many times I wanted to slap him for pushing Zelda away, but then turn around and hug him for realizing why he was so precious with his emotions and who he let see all of him. That man needed more people to see the real him and love the real him, and he found that in Zelda.

Speaking of Zelda, she was incredibly sweet and humble, especially given her background and coming from a wealthy Hollywood family. Cleo White writes the sweetest FMCs and never disappoints with how genuine they come across and how likeable they are. I also loved how she was very understanding of Ben and his need to keep others at arms length, but she didn’t let him get away with tearing her down the couple of times he tried. She stood up for herself and everything she said, letting him know that he has mucked up right away. I loved how she was able to display such strength while also being very poised. Sounds perfect for a queen 😉

I love a good fake dating scheme, and I especially love it when the couple already has history before the fake dating starts. It was so fun to watch them go on all their dates and see when they crossed into real feelings territory every time!

This may have been Cleo’s spiciest book to date!! Good Lord this thing was fire!!! From the c0ck-warming to the slapping not being limited to Zelda’s bum to the filthy and delicious things Ben said, the spice was phenomenal!

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Ben’s brothers Dam and Leopold. I am certainly hoping this is the first book in a series that follows these brothers and I’m calling Dam as my man now! Sorry all, it’s in writing and I’m officially claiming him 😉

Thank you to Cleo White for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

Cleo White’s Coronation is one of those dreamy romances filled with steam, humor, and a King who epitomizes all book boyfriends. I loved the age gap. Benedict is 41, and Zelda is 25. He’s a King, and she’s an actress. He’s a bit of a grump, but she’s fun, a bit snarky at times, and bold. The two had a great time together, and those spice scenes that kicked in early were quite good.

I like the accidental pregnancy trope and how Cleo White wrote this one. I absolutely adored Benedict's response to the pregnancy, or Ben, as Zelda called him. As I mentioned earlier, the spice scenes were great—the sp@ñk!ng, him being big and barely fitting, a little br33ding-ish moments—all good, all hot. Spice scenes aside, I was entertained and found the story fun to read.

Thank you to Author Cleo White and Good Girls PR for the gifted e-copy of Coronation. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

“i didn’t know it was possible to feel so many good things until i met you.”

a swoony royal romance!

i don’t think i’ve ever read a royal romance to this degree before, so it was something different for me. while i enjoyed the fmc, zelda, the mmc, benedict, fell a bit flat for me. he gave off a certain vibe that i didn’t necessarily vibe with, and i didn’t really connect with his character very well at all. zelda, though, i loved that she was an actress and that we got to see a little bit into that type of profession, not to mention her costar davina, who i’m very intrigued by. i’m also not a huge fan of unplanned/accidental pregnancy, but i do think this book handled the trope well, and i’m glad that the main characters got their happily ever after!

thank you so much to cleo for the e-arc!

This book came in hot! The spice was spicing! Underneath it all though, there was a cute love story about a one night stand turning into finding someone that brings you happiness and fighting for that happiness.

You can't help but feel for both characters as they interact with each other and the world around them. Zelda, the FMC, is trying to let loose, by attending a party that is out of character for her. Ben, the MMC, is overwhelmed by the weight of responsibility of the crown and his entire country strongly disliking him. One night together doesn't end the way they expect.

I enjoyed the growth development each of the characters go through to achieve their happily ever after. The magnetic pull, the tension between these characters, it jumped right off the page. It was fun to be pulled into this whirlwind romance.

Coronation features Benedict, King and Zelda, movie star. Benedict and Zelda meet at a private spicy party and have the deepest connection and all the instant lust. They have to work out how to remain together, even as duty pulls Benedict away.

I couldn’t put this book down. It had all the melodrama and I ate. It. Up. I loved the spicy party and the instant connection that Ben and Zelda had. I teared up at how casually cruel he was, not on purpose but for a lack of understanding how to have any sense of happiness. Zelda was so resilient, even after dealing with whiplash after whiplash from this emotionally unavailable hot, rich monarch. Loved the growth he had and how she was basically his sunshine.

Overall, excellent spice and a book I read in one afternoon.

This feels like a broken record, but if the shoe fits, and it definitely does... Cleo White knocked it out of the park AGAIN! And this time in a full-length novel! ❤️👑

King Benedict and actress Zelda Flowers meet at a secret party, and one night of lust turns into a surprise connection... and a surprise baby! The fake dating, the incredible chemistry, the way they heal each other's past hurts... I was OBSESSED. I've actually never read a book with the royalty romance trope before and was a bit hesitant going in, but Cleo's writing has a way of sucking you into the story and holding on with a death grip until the end. It's almost abusive, but like in a good way - LOL!

But really, this book has everything: swoonworthy romance, emotional depth, and it wouldn't be a Cleo book without some seriously spicy scenes that will get your heart racing (and would probably have grandma clutching her pearls). This girl truly knows how to write a damn good romance. I can't wait to see what she does next in this series!

👑 Forbidden Royal Romance
👑 Age-Gap
👑 Accidental Pregnancy
👑 Second Chance
👑 Fake Dating

Cleo White has done it again, with another fun and sexy forbidden romance that has a royal twist. Zelda,
a beautiful young American actress and Benedict, who’s older, hot, and has inherited the crown from his late brother, hit it off with a bang, literally! 🔥

The chemistry is on fire when they both meet at a secret club where the wealthy, rich, and famous go to fulfill their desires. Benedict is instantly smitten with Zelda, sweeps her off her feet, and she spends the perfect weekend with the King at his countryside estate all for him to leave her with no goodbye or explanation.

This book brought all the royal drama, celebrity gossip,
and a lot of delicious spice! I loved how Benedict seemed so cold to the outside world, but only softened for Zelda and treated her the way she deserved to be loved. If you want a forbidden romance with all the drama,
impeccable spice, and that will have you swooning, definitely give this one a read! 👑✨

Thanks to Cleo White for this ARC! 🫶🏽💚

✨ARC Review✨

Not every Once-Upon-A-Time ends in a Happily-Ever-After.

My fairytale, for instance, didn’t come with a handsome Prince Charming, a night at the ball, or a magical pumpkin carriage.

Instead, I got a bearded, bad-tempered king, a sex party for rich people, and a driver waiting to take me home after the royal asshole was finished with me.

And they lived Not So Happily Ever After.

The End.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

This is my second book by Cleo White and it further solidified my enjoyment of her storytelling. This particular story, despite being a Royal tale that I might have typically dismissed as too unrealistic, was crafted so well by Cleo that it felt genuine rather than a mere “Cinderella” narrative. The main characters were undeniably relatable and felt like real people, not just figures from a fairytale. Cleo knows how to add some spice, and although I usually don’t comment on that aspect in my reviews, this one was truly sizzling! I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between Ben and Zelda; when they became engrossed in each other, it was palpable. Overall, I loved how this book gave me that fluttery feeling, compelling me to keep reading just to discover what would unfold next. Plus, it includes all the best tropes: Fake Dating, Age Gap, and Forbidden Romance.
