As Jack’s walls begin to crumble, he must navigate the quirky characters that seep into the mystery of his foster sister’s disappearance. And in the sleepy community of Darrington, like so many things in this world, nothing is as it appears to be. The hidden mysteries that often go unnoticed begin to emerge as Jack and his new unpredictable sidekick begin to turn over the rocks. Following a trail that has grown cold, Jack must tread carefully to protect his job, his family, and his own life…
Jack Knifed Handsome Police Officer Jack Stratton is the “hometown hero cop with a heart of gold.” Constant nightmares have forced him to seek answers about his rough childhood, and the dark secrets that lay hidden there. With Replacement by his side, Jack travels to Hope Falls to solve a murder that occurred before he was born.
Everyone in the small town remembers the unsolved murder of Steven Ritter, but after 27 years, no one thought that someone would look into it – They don’t know Jack.
Jacks are Wild Handsome, white-knight, Police Officer Jack Stratton is back in this action-packed, thrilling adventure. When his sexy, old flame disappears, no one thinks it’s suspicious except Jack and one unbalanced witness. Jack feels in his gut that something is wrong. He knows that Marisa has a past and if it ever caught up with her – it would be deadly. Determined to buck the critics, and listen to his instincts, he and his young, feisty sidekick plunge ahead and start to track down leads hoping to find Marisa in time. The trail leads them into all sorts of trouble – landing them smack in the middle of an all-out Mob war between the Italian Mafia and the Japanese Yakuza.
When evidence surfaces that Marisa was kidnapped, Jack must navigate between the warring parties, assassins, and cold-blooded hit men to outwit the cunning kidnappers before it is too late. As the body count rises, the stakes in this game are life and death – with no rules except one – Jacks are Wild.
Jack and the Giant Killer Jack Stratton is back in another action-packed, thrilling adventure. While recovering from a gunshot wound and the loss of his job on the police force, Jack’s romance with feisty Replacement continues to develop. When Replacement gets a seemingly harmless private investigation job—locate the owner of a lost dog—Jack begrudgingly assists. Little do they know that it will place them both into the cross hairs of a merciless serial killer.
My name is Christopher Greyson, and I am a storyteller.
Since I was a little boy, I have dreamt of what mystery was around the next corner, or what quest lay over the hill. If I couldn’t find an adventure, one usually found me, and now I weave those tales into my stories. I am blessed to have written over twenty novels.
My love for tales of mystery and adventure began with my grandfather, a decorated World War I hero. I will never forget being introduced to his friend, a WWI pilot who flew across the skies at the same time as the feared, legendary Red Baron. My love of reading and storytelling eventually led me to write and it’s the best job I’ve ever had.
I love to hear from my readers. The books kept getting better. The writing tightened up as the characters got deeper. It was easy to root for the good guys. Can't wait for the next one.
I read the entire series of the Jack Stratton thrillers. I immediately liked Jack. He believes in doing what is right and acts accordingly. He loves his job and is good at it. Alice aka Replacement brings out the softer side of Jack and is an excellent partner for him. I read the entire series in order. I couldn't wait to see what they got into next. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series.
I couldn’t read more than 3%. So much of the opening in the book serves to insinuate what a manly-man the lead character is. The female characters are of the stereotypical shrew/narcissist/beauty and fashion obsessed or the tiny-yet-feisty either love interest or damsel in distress (or both). From the description of the police car’s “Hemi” engine to the “huge” machine gun(how many are really small?) I’m surprised there wasn’t a length and width of the male member in question.
I started the Jack Stratton Series with And Then She Was Gone and just had to see where Jack went next. Well I wasn't disappointed. Christopher Grayson has bought Jack to life and I am in love with this character. The story just pulls you along for the ride and the people you met along the way become friends and enemies. I also fell in love with Lady and owning a 220 pound Newfoundland dog myself I can relate. Lol excellent series.
Absolutely loved these books! I binge read all of the Jack Stratton series, and anxiously waiting for the next one. The characters jump off of the page and grab you.
I love how Jack and Alice grow closer with each book. And I love how Christopher Greyson continues to tie Marissa and Kiku into the stories.
I love this series! I have read the first four books and and now on #5! I have to read each book in one day because I can’t put them down! I love to read books where the characters can begin as victims and grow into heroes! Great series!
Well written book and as a dog lover , lady was a unexpected bonus. I loved the way Jack and Alice became lovers after all the stuff that almost destroyed their relationship.
I am enjoying this series so much! It's a wonderfully refreshing, well-written amazing story line! I'll read them all and I'll look for more books from this author. I've had them recommended to me many times, I'm glad I found the time. I'm hooked!
Have enjoyed the first 4 books, and the developing relationship between Jack and Alice. Do you suppose anyone at Scotland Yard got as mad at Sherlock Holmes as Sheriff Collins does at Jack?
Great book. Full of humor, suspense and a little romance. Enjoyed very much. Hard to put down. Can't wait to start the next in this series. Have enjoyed all of Greyson's books.
This is a great series filled with mystery, a little romance, and tons of action! How can you not love Jack Stratton and Alice Campbell after reading this series?!?!? Don’t wait, start today!!
Girl Jacked-4 stars-I’m hooked on this series. Jack is an intriguing character, with demons from his past and a bright future as a cop. This story is about him finding out what happened to his foster sister, Michelle, who disappeared from college. Replacement, Michelle’s sister, asks for his help, then goes off and does her own wacky investigating. I love their interactions and the surprise twist of whodunnit. Looking forward to reading more.
Jack Knifed-5 stars-Jack learns about his father from his mom, who’s in an institution. The tragic story of her life as a teen and his dad’s murder are slowly uncovered. Replacement keeps him on the straight and narrow when he gets overwhelmed. He meets Kristine, his dad’s ex from high school, his paternal grandmother, and his horrible maternal grandfather. Unravelling the tale slowly made it intriguing, and Jack’s history was interesting to read about. Great book.
Jacks Are Wild-4 stars-when Jack’s old girlfriend, Marissa, disappears and is likely kidnapped, he risks getting involved with the Italian mob, who are her family, and the Japanese mob, the Yakuza, to figure out who took her. Throughout his search, he has to manoeuvre around the Sheriff, who hates him, the FBI, who keep questioning him, and all the mob players. Replacement is great, helping him figure things out, and they meet and befriend Kiku, an assassin for the Yakuza. I love Jack’s history with Marissa, and Kiku is my favourite character in the series, except for Jack and Alice. It’s funny that along the way, women keep falling for Jack, while he keeps his hand close until the end. A true white knight, as Kiku calls him.
Jack and the Giant Killer-5 stars-there was a gap in me being able to read the series all at once, real life got in my way. I was so glad to have this to come back to. I savoured this last novel, so happy when I would look at my place and see I had more to read! Jack is a bounty hunter since he’s no longer a cop, and he’s kind of embarrassed to tell Replacement. Very funny way she finds out, through a few misunderstandings. There’s also a hilarious story where Jack looks for a guy who skipped bail, and meets his mother and her family in the process. In the meantime, a king shepherd is lost, so Replacement takes the case to find his owner. They then stumble into a murder, then a series of them. I had lots of theories, got close, but no cigar, and really, no idea who the culprit was. Well done! An excellent book, amazing series.
Wonderful way to introduce readers to a fabulous author and characters!!
After completing book two in the Dean Koontz “Jane Hawk “ series, I was in serious need of a mystery/thriller fix and embarked upon a search to find another author to bridge the gap until Koontz’s book three is released next May. Not only does Chris Greyson’s “Detective Jack Stratton” series fit the bill, but easily merits its own spotlight and devoted readership.
I decided to approach the collection as if it were one long text and was rewarded with characters who were unique and who were developed thoughtfully and creatively. Plot lines and prose remind me of another great author, Paul Doherty. My hope is that Greyson is as prolific a writer as Doherty; keep the books coming!
I’m happy to report that my insomnia has returned— in a good way. Long into the night, at chapter’s end, I fail to turn out the light. Instead, I turn the page and begin to discover...”what is next.”
Little to no actual cussing, really loveable characters :) good mysteries with all the info you need to figure things out just around the time jack does, but only if you pay close attention. Mr Greyson, Please write FASTER!!!
