A lady on a mission…
Lady Harriet Parrish never dreamed of having a London season. She’s been content to live a life of comfortable obscurity in her sleepy corner of Kent, but when her dearest childhood friend, the newly crowned Earl of Windham ends their secret correspondence and embarks on a ruinous path of debauchery, Hattie braves the grime and gossip of Town to snatch him back from the brink of destruction.

A gentleman without a home…
Cassian Fitzgerald has never belonged to anything or anyone. Born to an aristocratic father and a humble mother, he’s spent a lifetime straddling two different worlds. He only ever felt truly at home during the fleeting summer he spent in Kent picking wildflowers at Hattie Parrish’s side. But they’re no longer children, and he’s sworn to give her up forever rather than see her tainted by the notorious Windham wickedness that haunts his every step.

And a childhood friendship that grows into the love of a lifetime.
But Cass soon finds the past has a way of creeping into the present when Hattie appears unexpectedly in London, her deep blue eyes as hypnotizing as ever. When secrets, lies and an explosive scandal threaten to shatter Hattie’s reputation, Cass will do whatever he must to protect the only lady who’s ever been home to him.

Cassian Fitzgerald and Harriet Parrish have been friends since they were young children. They formed a close friendship and exchanged letters for twelve years. When Cass inherits the title of the Earl of Windham, he stops writing to Harriet and his behavior changes. Concerned about his scandalous behavior, she and her sisters find a way to get to London. But the man she loves and considered her friend, is hidden inside the rogue. Can she save him?

This is quick, charming novella anchored by a tender childhood friendship that deepens into lasting love. Hattie and Cassian have been quietly in love for over a decade, and that shared history gives the story real tenderness.

Hattie’s fierce loyalty shines as she chases down her old friend in London, determined to save him from scandal (and himself). Cass, for all his brooding, is soft where she’s concerned, but his awful father’s legacy casts a long shadow. Their love story is inevitable, yes—but it’s also beautiful and so sweet.

You can read this one as a standalone, but if you’ve picked up other books in the Games Earls Play series, you’ll appreciate the returning characters and emphasis on found family. Either way, it’s a satisfying read that hits the sweet spot.

This was not my favorite from the series. It felt tacked on for characters from book 1 (had to double check).

Anna Bradley is an excellent writer and I will still buy any future books she writes for this series but this isn’t one I’ll revisit. I felt there wasn’t enough page time to
Truly develop their connection which is where Bradley typically shines. The childhood played a huge role and there was a single scene and they didn’t even interact. There were crucial letters but we didn’t get to read them. Instead we just see a cold hero pushing the heroine away over and over and their love hinging on a relationship from the past not where they are now. Just wasn’t my thing.

This captivating tale beautifully explores the evolution of childhood friendship into an enduring love that defies time.

Cassian Fitzgerald, neglected by his aristocratic father, is left at the tender age of eleven in Kent with his father's friend, Lord Balfour. Feeling alone and unwanted, young Cass observes the lively trio of sisters next door—Margaret, Hattie, and Sarah Parrish. Initially dismissing them as frivolous, his perspective shifts when he befriends Harriet "Hattie" Parrish, forging a bond that transforms his lonely summer into the most cherished time of his life. Despite being torn apart when Cass is summoned back to his father, their connection endures through heartfelt letters exchanged over twelve years—until, without explanation, Cass stops writing.

Now the Earl of Windham, Cass leads a life shrouded in scandal and gossip. Yet Hattie, unwilling to let their friendship fade, bravely ventures into the heart of London society—a world she never intended to enter—to reclaim the friend who once meant everything to her. Determined and spirited, Hattie enlists her sisters and the indomitable Lady Patience Fosberry to help navigate this treacherous new world.

Their reunion is anything but smooth. Cass struggles with his feelings, convinced that his notorious reputation will taint the woman he secretly adores. Their encounters are fraught with tension, heartbreak, and unspoken emotions, culminating in a scandal that threatens Hattie’s honor. It’s in this moment of crisis that Cass realizes the depth of his love and the lengths he'll go to protect her.

The novel is a rollercoaster of emotions, enriched by a vivid cast of characters—from the malicious Lady Laetitia and her scheming mother to the loyal and endearing Lord Hayward. The Parrish sisters unbreakable bond adds warmth and humor, particularly through their protective brother Jonathan, whose reactions are both amusing and heartfelt.

This story is more than just a romance; it’s about the power of love, and the courage to fight for happiness. The author masterfully delves into themes of redemption and the lingering shadows of the past, crafting a story that’s as emotionally gripping as it is beautifully written. Prepare for laughter, tears, and an irresistible urge to keep turning the pages.

Oh, this series is wonderful, and the books can be read as standalone too. I have read them all but out of order and the books are still great. Cassian, the Earl of Windham was never supposed to be an Earl. His father was a mean, horrible person. After his first wife died leaving him only one son, he got one of his maids pregnant so he would have a spare and his estate would not be lost! He never had anything to do with Cass till his other son died, then he needed him. Cass was only eleven when his father took him away from St. Giles after his mother died. Even them he took Cass to Kent for the summer at other Lords house. Harriet and her sisters, Margaret and Sarah lived next door. He thought they were foolish country girls, laughing and playing silly games. The middle girl, Hattie was always busy with the flowers. Everything changed when his father ruined his life again, taking him away from Hattie and sending him off to school. They write letter for a long time till he just stops. Leaving Hattie wondering why. Now his name is always in the gossip rags and not in a good way. Cass has never fit in with the ton, they only put up with him due to the title and his wealth. Hattie knows she must see him and find out what happen to the boy she knew and loved. With the help of Lady Patience Fosberry , one of the Queen of the ton they all go to London. When Cass sees Hattie there the meeting is nothing like Hattie hoped for. Everything goes wrong, leaving her to worry she made a big mistake in coming. Ah, so much left unsaid and misunderstood between these too. The Sisters are a hit with the man of ton, fresh and beautiful. Cass is overcome with doing what he thinks is right and Hattie is determined to save him. This makes for some interesting reading let me tell you. There are the nasty Ladies of the ton, Lady Laetitia and her mother the worst and a villain too. I loved how both Cass and Hattie grow and see what is the most important to them. Truly a lovely read with romance, laughter and evil. Don’t miss this one grab your copy to see how it all works out and if the nasty people get what's coming to them. I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

Cassian "Cass" Fitzgerald life has always been uncertain. Born to a titled father, and a servant mother, the only time Cass felt seen was the summer he spent in Kent making friends with the Parrish sisters, Lady Margaret, Lady Harriet and Lady Sarah. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with Hattie. So much so they still kept up writing letters to each other for the last twelve years.

Cass ends up becoming the Earl of Windham and was living a life of debauchery just like his dead father. When he suddenly stops writing his letters to Hattie she becomes concerned. When word gets back to Hattie the type of messes Cass keeps getting into she feels like she needs to "save" her friend. Hattie enlists the help of Lady Patience Fosberry. Lady Fosberry has agreed to take the three Parrish sisters to London to try and help Cass but under the ruse that the girls are going to make their debuts. The girl's brother, Johnathan Parrish, Lord Melrose is away with his wife and what he doesn't know won't hurt him!

While in London, the Parrish girls are getting a lot of attention....much to the chagrin of Lady Laetitia Tremblay. Especially since Laetitia is the "Belle of the Season" and has her eyes on Cass. When Cass finally sees Hattie in London he is shocked and all those old feelings for her come rushing back. He may have only been eleven that summer but Hattie has always had a piece of his heart.

When Lord Egerton, a scoundrel starts to make a play for Hattie, Cass realizes that he wants her for his very own. Just when it looks like Hattie and Cass are going to get their happy ending, danger is lurking around the corner. Thankfully everything comes to head with the Hattie and Cass coming out on top.

I really enjoyed this sweet, kind of second chance at love story. Cass thought he needed to be like his father but in the end Hattie rescued him from himself so they could finally have their happy ever after. I loved all the sister interactions too. Overall this was a fun end to a great series.

An Earl Like You by Anna Bradley is the sixth book in the Games Earls Play series but if you haven't read the other books, don't worry. You can definitely dive into this one and still read as a standalone. There are references to other characters from other books but you don't need to know them to enjoy this book.

This book focuses on Hattie Parrish as the fmc. She is fine living in Kent and actually prefers it but when she learns from her sister (via a letter) that the man she has loved for years is having problems while in London, she devises a plan to go to London and try to save him from himself since he is no longer responding to her letters.

Cassian Fitzgerald, the Earl of Windham, has always been a cross between two worlds. Having grown up in his early years in St. Giles and then because he was found to be his father's heir, he was transported to Kent for a few months one summer before finding himself in London and growing up with the Ton, he never truly felt like he has belonged anywhere. Except for the time he spent in Kent...with Hattie and her sisters. As he kept up his correspondence with Hattie, he realized how much of a danger he is now to her reputation and decided he needed to let her go and that is the catalyst to the rest of the story.

As Hattie and Cass come back together, Cass realizes that Hattie has never given up on him and despite what his father wanted for him, he needs to do what makes him happy and the thing that makes him happy is Hattie. Of course, you have some obstacles that pop up for these two (in the form of two annoying people in the Ton) but they work their way through it with the help of their friends and family as well as their trust in each other.

If you're looking for historical romance that is a quick, light read, consider picking this one up. I enjoyed this one and will continue to read more by Bradley.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to Booksprout for a copy of this story and this is my freely given opinion.

Another historical romance in the Games Earls Play series. This is a sweet historical romance that starts as a childhood friendship in the country that brews between a boy suffering from the loss of his mother, and feeling very much at loss and rejected, when he stumbles upon a group of young sisters. One in particular, Harriet, breaks through the walls built up by resentment and sullenness felt by Cass. The summer he spends playing with the Parrish sisters becomes a cherished memory when he is taken away to be raised and educated as the heir of the Earl of Windham.

As the years go by, Harriet and Cass maintain a secret and affectionate correspondence. But that abruptly comes to a halt shortly after he gains the title, and all Harriet hears about her beloved friend is about his notorious rakehell behaviour in scandal sheets. Finally, she cannot suppress the urge to help her friend, and she and her sisters leave their country estate for London.

Cass, because of the circumstances of his youth, suffers a sense of imposter syndrome, and strives to live up to the example of his father, and his lessons, in spite of himself. But when he is confronted by Harriet, her sisters, and his past, he grows to realize that perhaps he does not need to follow in his father's footsteps or walk the path that others expect of him.

A generally sweet and nice historical romance, with a beloved childhood friendships and memories, that when revisited as adults, blooms into something more, as Cass, with Harriet's friendship and love, grows into himself, and beyond the constraints of other's expectations of him.

There are undercurrents of darkness in this romance, as Cassian Fitzgerald struggles with his birth and the rise to his status as the Earl of Windham. Left with his infamous father's friend in Kent, Cass becomes aware of the singing voices of the young girls on the neighbouring estate, disturbing his peace and making him even more resentful. That is, until the day he meets Lady Hattie's pair of bright blue eyes through the grass where he is hiding, and a friendship that stands the test of time develops. Years later, Cass is causing a stir in London, and not the pleasant kind. He has one long-term friend who looks out for him, but his misadventures finally filter back to Kent, and Hattie determines to rescue Cass from self-destructing. Together with her sisters, she arrives in London, and her first meeting with Cass does not go well. Unfortunately, in spite of his reckless reputation, his title and wealth are a prize to be won, and the claws of the ton are out to snag him. Hattie's appearance on the scene sets the cat among the pigeons, and she experiences the maliciousness that Cass wants to protect her from. An outright attack on Hattie causes a ruckus in society, but it becomes the pivotal point where Cass has to make his choice. The novel ultimately comes to a sweet conclusion, taking Cass and Hattie back to where it all began. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Oliver Heber Books and BookSprout, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This is a sweet story of two old friends finding the friendship they had as kids grow to love in adulthood. It's a rescue as well as a remember who you are at your core story. Poor Cassian has gotten lost after living with his callous and debauched father for twelve years. Harriet braves London to help him remember who he truly is. I enjoy Anna's stories and friends to lovers are one of my favorite tropes.

Lady Harriet "Hattie" Parish lives in Kent and really doesn't like London with it's snooty people, smoggy skies and dirty streets. She much prefers the countryside and all the lovely flowers that she studies. When her younger sister Sarah gets a letter from her friend Alice filling her in on the latest gossip. Harriet gets concerned about her old friend Cassian Fitzgerald. They've bee pen pals for years and he's suddenly stopped responding to her letters. He's now Earl and his life mirrors the vices of is father. Hattie decides she must go to London and help him see the error of is ways.

Cassian Fitzgerald is now Earl Windham and free of is cold, unloving father. Unfortunately he's lost, bored and has slipped into his father's vices. He's courting the "belle" of the season that his father favored for him to marry. Unfortunately they really don't even like each other, but that's a society marriage for you. His life is full of obligations and no joy. When Hattie appears in London he's horrified because she's not equipped to survive London society. This story is how Hattie helps him find his way back to who he is. Along the way he realizes she's the love of his life.

Enemies to lovers are all well and good, but I'm a firm fan of friends to lovers. This novella from Anna Bradley is a quick read that packs a punch, with a classic friends-to-lovers, reformed rake story. It features all of the regular pre-requisites: idyllic childhood romps in the countryside, trauma stemming from the actions of parental figures, and the transformation of something caring into something transcendent.

Hattie hasn't seen Cass in years, although until recently they have been faithful correspondents. She believes they know each other like no other, and is hurt when he stops writing to her. When she reads one too many exploits in the scandal sheets, she's determined to make her way to London to save him from himself. Cass is trying to protect Hattie from himself. She is goodness and light while he's...him. When she shows up for the season he's surprised and scared for her.

The subsequent proverbial dance is unsurprising but no less touching for it. Hattie proves to be more resilient than Cass believed, and gradually strips away his doubts until the possibility of them being together becomes a reality. The story is singularly focused on them making their way back to each other while facing Cass's demons, and is very sweet.

It's a fast, sweet read that delivers everything it's promised. Thank you to Anna Bradley and Netgalley for the ARC ❤️

Hattie deserves all the awards for putting up with Cass's behavior when they are first reunited up until he finally admitted (mostly to himself) how he truly felt about her. Because I loved Hattie as a character, I was willing to give Cass the benefit of the doubt that he was worth her going out on a huge limb to save him from himself. I especially liked how Hattie stood up to Cass when he was trying to intimidate her into leaving London. She may be soft-hearted, but she is not spineless. As for Cass, I honestly did not understand some of his thought process regarding his behavior - you would think given how awful his father had been to both him and his mother he would have sought to be the exact opposite of that rather than become the man's clone. Perhaps the sweetest aspect of this whole story was that Cass did not need some big intervention, just a reminder that there was someone out there who he really was and loved that version of him. The writing here so perfectly balanced between humor, romance, and drama - there is no wasted space here and the story moves very smoothly. In addition to being a good read, this is also a quick one.

Anna Bradley’s “An Earl Like You” is a well-written, nicely paced novel with wonderful characters.
Hattie and Cass are childhood friends. Their first meeting is heartwarming.
Cass, a lonely and neglected, child, encounters Hattie one fleeting summer while hiding under a tree. She gives him a cake, teaches him how to make a flower crown and gains his lifetime devotion. They correspond for years even though they did not meet face to face.
Cass becomes the new wicked Earl of Windham, a rakehell whose exploits are always featured in the gossip columns. When he stopped writing to Hattie, she decides to come to London to save him from this path of self-destruction . She recruits the help of her sisters and the famous lady Fosberry.
Their first encounter as adult doesn’t go well. Cass puts his foot in his mouth and order Hattie to go back home. But inevitably their childhood friendship grows into love. Anna Braden gives us an emotional love story of a man haunted by his past and a woman who will not give up on him.

I enjoyed hattie and Cass’s story and highly recommend “An Earl Like You“ to all fans of historical romance. This is the #6th installment in the Games Earls Play Series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Anna Bradley always transports me into this wondrous world where romance is spoken both in actions and words, and love is all encompassing. An Earl Like You is part of the series called Games Earls Play, and can definitely be read on it's own. Cassian Fitzgerald is thrust into the position of learnimg how to be the Earl of Windham at a young age when his older sickly brother passes away. His father is a mean spirited, not a very nice person kind of man. Cass' favorite memories of childhood are those spent in Kent with his neighbors, especially Harriet Parrish, who befriended him when he needed it most. A friendship like no other, they communicate via letters until one day everything stops to exist as if they are strangers. What Hattie does hear about Cass in London bothers her to the point where ahe believes she needs to try and save him from himself. Theirs is the kind of love that is precious, both wanting to save and spare the other from the nastiness of people's words and actions. I absolutely loved this story, where the characters are so vividly portrayed and their emotions so beautifully written. I can't wait to read more of Anna Bradley.

We have an Earl who believes the horrible things his father said to him! We are not our parents or the sum of their mistakes!
We have the Earl of Windham aka Cass and Lady Harriet aka Hattie Parrish best friends since very young! It is important to note they even had a correspondence as adults!
Cass has such low self esteem issues from his father and his origins!
Cass is living a life of debauchery and gambling that is often written about in the tabloids!
One scandal too many and Hattie and her sisters go visit their very good friend Lady Fosberry without the permission and knowledge of their brother Johnathan, the Earl of Melrose!
Cass has a decision to make could he continue the path that his father set for him? This would include marriage to a viper and a snake or could he forge his own path with his best friend?
When Hattie disregards Cass advise it could have devastating consequences! Hattie was injured emotionally and physically! Could this be the catalyst to a HEA? Hattie is also underaged could she get permission to even be courted by Cass whose reputation is in complete tatters!? Bravo well done!.

This story completely swept me up. Lady Harriet Parrish—Hattie—is the kind of heroine who feels real from the very first page. She’s content with her quiet life in Kent until her childhood friend, now the wayward Earl of Windham, starts making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Determined to save him from himself, she dives straight into the chaos of London, and what follows is a mix of heart, heartbreak, and unexpected courage.

Cassian Fitzgerald is the perfect example of a man torn between two worlds. His struggle with belonging—caught between his noble father and humble mother—makes him both sympathetic and frustrating in equal measure. You can feel how deeply he loves Hattie, even when he’s convinced he has to stay away from her. Their relationship unfolds slowly and beautifully, with all the tension and tenderness you could want.

What really stands out is how much heart the story has. It’s romantic, yes, but also about finding your place and holding on to the people who make you feel like you’re home. It’s the kind of story that leaves you feeling warm and a little wistful at the end—like you’ve just said goodbye to old friends.

A Summer childhood friendship that lasted for a decade of pen pal correspondence. Scandalous for an unmarried lady to write a bachelor but Kent and London aren't in the same social circle & things stay quiet. Until a friend who's not a true friend blows it all up.

Hattie has considered Cassian to be a dear friend even though they're separated by many miles. When he stops writing to her she's hurt and confused. Hattie is the kind of person who loves with her whole heart and never abandons a friend. When she senses Cassian is in trouble she's off to London to help him any way she can. It's sweet how maneuvers things & people to get to London quick. Cassian is a perfect example of a young being molded into a reflection of your father. He's been beaten down to the point that acceptance is his status quo. These two are an example of when it's meant to be it'll be.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Lady Harriet “Hattie” Parrish has always been content with her quiet life in Kent until her dearest childhood friend, Cass, now the Earl of Windham, cuts off their secret correspondence and begins courting ruin in London. Determined to save him from himself, Hattie braves the gossip and glitter of the Season to bring him back from the brink. Cass has sworn to keep his distance to protect Hattie’s reputation, but their undeniable connection only deepens with every encounter. As long-buried secrets surface and scandal threatens to destroy everything, Cass must decide how far he’s willing to go to protect the only woman who’s ever felt like home.
Whilst a novella, I found this book explored the relationship between Hattie and Cass such that I could understand the intensity of their feelings. I found Cass to be a torn soul, modelled by his father into a man that he himself isn’t quite sure of. Hattie, despite her innocence, is not swayed by others and is steadfast in her feelings for Cass. My only complaint is that I wished it had gone for longer. A delightful read!

Harriet & Cassian
*
He'd loved her before he even understood what love was.
*
Her dear childhood friend and her former letter correspondent is getting into gossip rags a lot with his behaviour. As a good friend Hattie decides to go to London and try to save him from it. That is just not the Cass she knows. She receives a cold welcome.
When she and her sisters attend some of this seasons event he is drawn to her. He ignores this season's belle and takes Hattie to a walk among the lillies where he can't help himself and kisses her.
Little do they know the letters might become a problem.

This was a cute love story that didn't have anything too dramatic in. If you need an easy read that doesn't toy with your emotions, this is it. And if you're one of the people that prefers a clean romance with just a couple of kisses this one is for you.
I adored the friendship he has. Even though Hayward lectures him, you know they care for each other alot.
His engagement with Hattie is long, thanks to her brother who is adamant Cass proves himself to him. This is probably one of the couples that actually takes it slow and waits for the wedding.

Hattie is upset. Her best friend has stopped writing to her and she doesn’t understand why. Cass is the friend and he is doing his best not to get her involved with his nonsense. I adored their meet-cute with his attitude anything but good. His reasons why are perfectly acceptable and his heart is hurting desperately. It was very funny how Hattie decided to go to London to “save” Cass and their initial meeting left a LOT to be desired. The villains are rather obvious, but that does not take away from the story. I adored Lord Haywood, Cass’s friend and support system. This is a well thought out story with wonderful characters to love or hate (as the case may be). I adored Cass’s rescue and poor Johnathon, the brother, doesn’t know what hit him when he finally makes an appearance. I really enjoyed this story, especially how the author wrote the “Lilac Walk” I love Lilacs and the way she wrote that scene had me right there in it!

I received this story for free and these are my own views.

Cassian faces the world alone after his mother dies until he is (finally) sent to live with his father, who already has an heir. Only after his step-brother dies does the Earl take any interest in Cass. What a lonely childhood he faces until he meets Harriet, the girl next door.
I enjoyed this sweet story of the young love that develops over time between these 2 young people. The story quickly moves from the time period when they meet, to 12 years later when they remake their acquaintance as young adults in London. How they find true love despite society’s pressures makes an interesting read.
The story has kisses, but no bedroom scenes. There is a villain, but he is stopped in his tracks before he can damage anyone—providing a bit of angst to spice up the story. A nice shorter story with its HEA a delight.

I really enjoyed reading this book by one of my favorite authors. Ms Bradley writes a totally awesome book that held my interest from first chapter. The characters were fully developed with thoughts and feelings of their own.
Lady Harriet Parrish has never thought of a season of London's bright lights and lots of fun stuff. She has heard that her childhood friend has turned himself into a rake and being outrageous acting. Since he stopped writing to her, it seems that Harriet needs to find out what the problem is with Cassian Fitzgerald.
Cassian was born to a aristocratic father and a humble mother, and doesn't know how to go about his life. But when Harriet and he get together, it's like they never parted. When Harriet reputation gets besmirched, he must be the hero she needs.
Lots of kisses and hot romance that make this book a winner.
I appreciate Net Galley for this ARC title in which I gave an honest review.

From Wild Summer to London Scandal
He stopped writing to her, so she left the safety of Kent to find him—only to discover he was no longer the boy she remembered. Cass grew up poor in St. Giles until his father claimed him and thrust him into a world where he never truly belonged. Soon after, he spent a summer in the country where he met Hattie—the happiest time of his life, and the first time he ever felt at home. But years of feeling unwanted eventually turned Cass into a rake. Could love reform him?
Hattie believed Cass was rejecting her, not realizing he only wanted to shield her from the London vultures who would see her as nothing more than a fortune to be claimed. Together they faced gossip, scandal, and challenges that tested the bond between them. Could love beat the odds?
I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to readers who like historical romances with childhood-friends-to-lovers, second chances, and rakes with hidden hearts.

THINGS I LIKED
1. The MCs, Harriet and Cassian
2. The book was fast, easy and simple, no drama
3. The amazing side characters

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE
1. The book was all about their long childhood friendship, but it was not really present in the book. There was not much about their childhood relationships, I really wanted more of that
2. They only spoke through letters for twelve years, I wish they had not fallen in love so fast.

I feel like this book will make for an easy comfort read. However, I wanted more from the characters and the storyline, but the book is okay.

Hattie and Cass were childhood friends. From the time he was brought to his father’s estate, she was his sunshine. When he left for London, they communicated, for a while. She continued to write, but Cass stopped responding. The gossip of his scandalous exploits in town causes her concern. He does not sound like the boy she knew. She is determined to go to Town and rescue him, from himself. When she arrives, Cass tries to convince her to go back home. He believes he is protecting her, from himself and the condescending cruelty of the Ton. This is a lovely story of love, persistence, and redemption. Cass is confused and living in the shadow of his past and his father’s legacy. Hattie is caring and compassionate. She encounters snobbery, jealousy, and spite. An unsavory episode at a ball finally opens Cass’s eyes. A well-crafted story with an interesting cast of characters, lots of emotions, well-deserved comeuppance for the bad guys, and a happy ending.

I enjoyed this second chance romance about Cass and Hattie, two children that met one summer and never forgot one another. Cass became the heir to his terrible father and he thought it changed his life making him like his father. He thought he didn’t deserve love because of his heritage, but he realized that he always had love. This second chance romance dealt with jealous petty women, fortune hunting scoundrels, past secrets, rekindled friendships, sisters taking on the ton, and faithful friends. This was a relatively clean story with heated kisses and intimacy mentioned through thoughts but not actual scenes. This was my first time reading this author, and I enjoyed the story and the main characters, but it did have a bit of a slow start. It took a while for the main couple to be reunited.

At age eleven, Cassian spent a summer in the country, pulled from the slums by his aristocratic father. The lonely Cass meets the three sisters next door and becomes friends with middle sister Hattie. He's sent away to school and they keep a twelve year correspondence. Suddenly his letters stop and Hattie reads of his debauchery in the gossip columns. She hatches a plan to go to London with her sisters and save him from himself. This is a sweet and gentle romance with childhood friends falling in love as adults. Even though it's book #6 in a series I think you can read it as a short stand-alone novella. My only objection is the the overuse of the phrase "I beg your pardon." It was constantly said throughout the book. I received an ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

The heroine gets concerned when she doesn’t hear from her childhood friend for months and then the scandal sheets start to tell tales about him that are disturbing. She decides her sisters need to go to London so she can help him. The hero was neglected by his father for 11 years and then he becomes his heir. His father wasn’t a very nice person and he feels that he isn’t either so that is why he broke off correspondence with the heroine. With the help of his friend and the heroine he starts to see that there maybe hope and love. I did like the storyline. It was a little of an emotional roller coaster.

What a perfect story to introduce myself to the writing of Anna Bradley! It truly makes me wonder why I've not read any of her work before. (Don't worry, I'm fixing that!)

I flew through this book swiftly, thanks to the deft pacing and wonderful characters that drew me in and held my interest captive from start to finish.

An Earl Like You is the sixth book in the Games Earls Play series. But if you're like me and haven't read the first five, fear not. It stands beautifully on its own. It might even inspire you, as it has me, to grab the first book in the series.
