Three years after losing his father in a fire, thirteen year old Jethro Black (his friends call him Jet) finds himself embarking upon a mysterious adventure when, while attending his grandfather's funeral, a strange man walks up and gives him an envelope, and a key. As a mystery begins to unfold, Jet and his best friend Travis are about to discover that there is more to the world than meets the eye, and they just may have a crucial role to play in the outcome of humanity's future. Nebulous is the first release in the young adult science fiction book series, Jet Black.
Warning. This book series will take you on an adventurous ride through the world of Jet Black. Here you will inevitably find various religious and spiritual undertones woven into the story. Some of these are subtle, and some are not. Others are hidden as clues to a larger picture. While some readers may consider these as hidden treasures, others may choose to see them differently. If you are the type that chooses to be offended by religious and/or spiritual content, I suggest you turn back now.
I loved this story! I read / listened to this story in audio format via audible.com. I love audio books as the narrators tend to breathe life into the stories, thus giving them a heart beat. I also love how I can read my books and still get things done such as working, shores, walking etc...
This book is a family oriented / Young adult read. With a clean story into sci if/ fantasy meets the adventure /mystery!
Jet (Jethro) Black received a mysterious letter from his grandfather after he passed away. Jet had already lost his dad previously too. Together with his friends help, Jet finds all the clues he needs to discover what is happening. Also there has been a rash of missing children too. Could these missing kids be tied in with his new discoveries? This book reminds me of Indiana Jones. Lots of adventure, danger and suspense along with just the right kids to be nosy enough to figure it all out.
The author, TS Littlefield did a great job writing this story. The plot is fantastic and the story turned out to be way better than I thought it would be. I even cried a little when it came to the missing kids! The narrator, Ray Greenley delivered this story to us flawlessly with lots of different voices and even accents! This book would make a great family trip story for those long rides!
I found "Nebulous: Jet Black" to be an entertaining audiobook. It was a clean young adult story with a science fiction/paranormal theme. I think it would be great for any age group as well as teens. This was a great book written by T. S. Littlefield.
Jethro Black or Jet as he's called, finds a memory ball with interesting writing and markings on it. Then strange things begin to happen. Some out-of-this world characters begin showing up. Along with the help of his friends, Jet discovers more and more about what's happening.
Next he learns of a missing girl and other missing children and desparately tries to find them and rescue them. Another great thing in this story is how he and his friends learn to defend themselves against bullies at school. There was a lot of high adventure in this story which leaves me looking forward to the next book in the series.
The narrator Ray Greenley did a wonderful job voicing this book. He kept it at a steady pace and was consistent throughout. His delivery was flawless and his character differentiation was spot on. Overall, this was an exciting adventure.
AUDIOBOOK RECEIVED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN UNBIASED REVIEW.
My rating: 4 stars Audiobook narrator Ray Greenley rating: 4 stars
I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I liked this book and can see how it would be a fun read for teenagers. It has an interesting plot and has good characters in it. There were some stories that took place apart from each other than ended up merging in the end – some were a little unexpected , which was fun.
The narrator did a wonderful job of capturing the spirit and attitude of the book as well as changing his voice for different characters. I would definitely listen to another book of his. He was very clear in his narration.
My only complaint with the book is that I was under the impression that
Thanks again, Ray, for this copy of the audiobook!

I loved this little book, and cant wait to hear more about Jet and his little group of friends...and more about MIlo...This is basically a story about a younger teen boy Named Jet that has lost his Dad, and then Grandpa...and discovers some very interesting things going on that are other worldly and all tie to his Gpa..There is a magic glove, and some interesting ways of communication and a space ship...throw in some tele-porting and ..a helpful alien computer/guardian..oh and I cant forget a group of teen boy heroes and this makes for one interesting book that is suitable for all ages!!! Will totally continue this series! :)
First off, sci-fi fantasy is not my preferred genre but I know the author and wanted to try it. It's a great debut novel and I look forward to seeing where the series goes. It's an intriguing plot that I at first thought would cause a lot of disbelief in the characters but then as I pictured them being middle school kids, I decided they would be the best age for these events to happen. I listened to the audio and liked most of the voices, though the older neighbor lady and older man Milo were a bit hard to listen to. I'm looking forward to the next installment!
Nebulous is a great read for any family member! Jethro Black,Jet to his friends and anyone else who will listen,is given a key at his grandfathers funeral. What he finds will open worlds and may actually bring him closer to his father, who died three years earlier. There is suspense, mystery, humor and a bit of love tossed into this YA adventure. Ray Greenley does a wonderful job with narration. "I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com."
I had no expectations, going into it, as I was asked to review. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this book. Appropriate for young teens, to old adults, this book is a MUST for fans of the X-files! Seriously, if government conspiracy and alternative life forms are 'your thing', consider checking this title out. I can not wait to read more of this series!
Characters are believable, story entertains, narration not overlong, story keeps on going. Hope to see more of Jet Black in the near future! Good so;id imaginative fun! Ray Greenley does a great audio performance with excellent character definition. I received this book in exchange for an honest review, and I got the best of the deal!
This is a young adult science fiction story that is full of imaginative plot, likable characters, and a good pace that keeps the reader engaged. From mysterious artifacts, missing children, teleportation, techy gadgets from another world, and a good dose of humor, this book entertains from beginning to end.
I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.
Easy read, quick paced, sci-fi fun. Would be good for 6th-9th with only a few mild concerns (mention of drugs, kidnapping) but nothing that would stop me from recommending it.
I enjoyed the story line though I feel the book would have benefited by a few more rounds of editing. I listened to the audio version, read by Ray Greenley, who has a pleasant reading voice and helped to bring the story alive for me.
This is your classic coming-of-age store where, after a death in the family, our protagonist is bequeathed a piece of advanced technology that sets the stage for the rest of the book.
We follow our hero, along with a few secondary characters, through some interesting escapades, and learn more about the origin of the technology, along with what the story's antagonists are up to. We are left with a little bit of a cliff hanger at the end which presumably will lead into the next book and next set of adventures.
This was an interesting read, and at first I thought I might have my 9-year-old son listen to it, but it does touch on a couple of darker topics such as domestic abuse, drug use, forced medications on children, and child abductions that I don't feel I'm ready to expose him to just yet.
I'll start this again. It just happened to fall in a bad book cycle so I was only giving a book just a couple of chapters - or in this case- about 10 minutes ( in the Audible version) before I moved on. I was just wanting that great feeling where you are hooked and drawn in from the very beginning. I love that feeling. Thank goodness, I finally found it after about 7 bad books (4 absolutely horrible) and three that I'll probably go back and read at another time.
Life is made up of bad books, books that are okay and you finish, books that make you think, and then every so often.... the ones that come around and grab you by the arms and pull you along for the ride!!!
Got this on sale at Audible and finished it in a couple of days. It is a nice little Sci-Fi romp for kids and had some good ideas. But writing this a week later I find that I'm already forgetting much. The characters were fine and the story moved along well (although at times it could have had a bit more meat on its bones). I can almost stand on its own which is ggo for a first in series. If I'd have to point to a book that it reminded me of I'd say Maximum Ride by James Patterson. There was one religious reference that bothered me, but I guess the author wanted it there. So as I children's SF book it's fine, well written and an ok story, but I'm not sure if I'll read future installments.
What a WEIRD book. It was one of the more upbeat books I've ready, it was a little TOO upbeat. There were 3 "bad" things that happened in the book but everything else was overly positive. The people/kids talked to each other in ways people don't normally do. It was just bizarre. Plus the whole thing with the kids all trusting this alien thing. It was just weird all around, but wasn't awful. 2.5 stars.
It was a bargain Audible book so I gave it a try. Nebulous focused on several middle school boys and a visit from an alien ship that changed them. It was light and fun but for upper elementary more than middle school. It is the beginning of a series so there were a lot of lose ends to tie up by the conclusion of this volume.
Everything about this novel was crap. The audio version was terrible. I know it was a kid's book, but I'd be insulted as a kid if I heard this. THere are horrible cliches (the bullies have bad single moms. Both of them!) and at one point the main character and his friend make a joke about lynching. Just a dumb, awful book.
