Three psychic sisters taken from their abusive mother as children reunite at their grandmother’s funeral. They inherit the family fortune, including the old mansion on the river in Florida. The estate called River Oaks is haunted by the ghosts of ancestors and family slaves. Sabrina, an interior designer, grew up in San Francisco. She’s the wounded sister, the one Mama tried to drown in the river. Police officer Shane Kagan runs into Sabrina the day she arrives and falls hard for the pretty blonde, but he’s uncomfortable with her psychic abilities. Sabrina loves Shane, but her visions make her terrified of losing him. In one vision, Sabrina and Shane are sitting on the porch swing when they’re old and gray. In another vision, he’s lying in a coffin. Can she convince him to find another occupation, one that doesn’t have him strapping on a gun and putting his life at risk every day?
I'm a grumpy old lady who lives with an even grumpier old man in a small town in Washington state. I have three grown children, all smarter and more successful than their mother, and one adorable grandson. My favorite kid!
I write mostly romantic suspense, women's fiction, and light paranormal romance novels. Although my plots get kind of involved and sometimes twisted at the end, I don't plot my books out before I start writing. I create characters, throw them into a situation, and let them lead the way. I'd like to think my characters are unique, yet familiar, people you'd like to get to know. People you can root for. People you'll remember after you finish reading the book.
I hope you enjoy reading my books. Please feel free to leave a comment or review.
I'm sorry, but I didn't like it. It seems so, I don't know how to explain it, but rather juvenile. I was surprised to read Ms. Fineman's bio. This read like a 15 year old wrote it. All the legal activities that went on were so unrealistic is was comical. I've read other reviews on Amazon, and those that disliked this book stated that Ms. Fineman's others books were so much better, so perhaps this author deserves a second chance.
What a story! When their Grandmother dies, 3 girls who were sent as children to live with 3 men and their families. Sabrina was sent to a man that used her grandmother's money, but he really wasn't her father. His wife was a real wicked step-mother of fairy tale nightmares. Sabrina can't believe she feels like she is home on the family estate, but without her mother's evil presence she wants to stay. "Officer Charming" as she calls the policeman that rear ends her car and knocks her into a ditch is another reason she wants to stick around. Her psychic powers have him off balance and the visions of him in trouble because of his job don't help her feel secure either. Can they make a life together when they are so different? Arson, corrupt official, drug runners, ghosts and old police shootings keep this team of friends and their families on the edge of their seats along with the readers.
WOW!!! I got so involved in Sabrina, I did not cook supper. What a horrible experience she went through with her mother. So glad that Shane came into her life and accepts her and all of her weirdness. Her grandmother is a grand lady who cares deeply for her granddaughters. Love her ghost as well as Bessie's ghost who takes such good care of Sabrina. Hope this series never ends..
Sabrina was abused for years by one parent and ignored by the other. Shane falls for Sabrina right away. Shane is dealing with crooked cops and psychic girlfriend. Sabrina learns some horrible truths. She is still loyal and loving after such a horrible childhood and upbringing.
Contrary to other reviews, I slowly began to enjoy the story as if the author finally began to enjoy telling the story. I started it with the first book and struggled to finish it. Each book got slowly a little better. Part of the problem is that its not a believable tale (in reference to the unimaginable wealth and fairy tale life that awaits each granddaughter as she inherits and discovers she has a grandmother who loved her - though some of the sisters knew more than others and each suddenly seems to also magically find love). Eventually, I got caught up in the stories and I just wanted to know how this all pulled together once the last granddaughter is united with her other sisters. I did not write a review for each book. The last book is "Amelia" (at least I think it is). Will write my overall experience with the series when I read the last book. I agree with one reader, it is rather a "young girl's" type story - possibly due to its fairy tale premise. However, once I start a series, unless it is just totally unreadable, I feel obligated to finish it. If I am going to invest the time and the money, I am going to finish with hopes that a book starts to develop its "voice". Sometimes, I have found, the author seems to find more enjoyment during the telling of the story and it begins to take on a life of its own.
Sabrina is one of three sisters. Each had a different father and were raised by their fathers after their mother tried to kill Sabrina by putting her in a leaky boat and pushing the boat into the middle of the river. The girls meet again for the first time in many years while getting ready for their grandmother’s funeral. Sabrina has always had a hard time trusting, but when a handsome police man hits her car from behind, she finds her heart softening Each of the girls has the ability to gaze into the future and what Sabrina sees scares her into closing her heart again This is the first book of Sue Fineman I’ve read but it won’t be the last. There is love, romance, drug runners, and ghosts involved. There are times the tears will flow and times you will laugh out loud. I’m already reading the second book in the series and can’t wait for the third one to come out.
There have been very few books that I have ever "put down" (especially one I paid for) but after struggling for a little after 1/4 way through I just couldn't do it anymore. The writing was very amateurish and choppy and the dialog was terrible. I would compare it to watching a really bad actor read lines. I never made it to the main plot so maybe it picked up. Also, I was annoyed with the fact that Sabrina meets "Officer Helpful" one day and then the next day they are talking, flirting and acting like they've known each other forever. Then the day after that she talks about wanting to sleep with him but not wanting to unless he's ready for a marriage commitment. There wasn't any build-up or a transition period.
This book is a secular romance/mystery. There is a minimal amount of foul language and situations that reflect the modern secular world. (This information for those of you who follow my reviews of Christian romantic suspense.) The characters are well drawn and the plot is engaging. My only tiny complaint would be that I feel that the situation with the character Nicole could have used more foreshadowing. As it stands, my reaction was, "What? Now?" But it was an enjoyable and satisfying read.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters and story! Great way to escape with something light and easy to read, believe me...nothing mind enhancing or anything like that, but just a good read...finished in 2 nights. Now, I'll move onto the next book in the series...holds my attention well and it's just a chance for down time for me without taxing my brain in any way, shape or form!
I found a new series by Sue Fineman! If you like ghosts, Physics, and mystery, this is the book for you! Great characters, romance and mystery. Something is always happening at River Oaks! I really enjoyed all of them!
I enjoyed this book enough to pick up the second in the series. But there is a choppy feeling to the flow of the story, almost as though someone hit the fast forward button.
This is a light paranormal romance novel, that I so enjoyed reading, some good guy & bad guys-characters, a fast moving plot, and lots of mystery and suspense throughout the entire read!
