It is time to Dance Dance Dance! With a dose of magic of course!
I was delighted to find another Unicornia book at one of my library, I had fun with the first one (despite some weird things that happened) and I was eager to read this one!
🩷 Seeing some more of Unicornia! I just love that place it sounds like such a dream and I would love to pop by, ride an unicorn, eat some yummy foods (though not that candyfloss spaghetti, no thank you), do magic, visit the sights, and more. 🩷 The Merry Music Day! Which meant not just students performing but also fun classes and workshops (which btw I would have loved to see). 🩷 The friendship between the girls was just chef kiss. I love how they haven’t know each other for that long but it felt like they have known each other for years and years. They are so sweet together and I love how they try to be there for each other. They have so much fun together and I love that one moment when they all had bumps and were just giggling at how it looked like unicorn horns. 🩷 Alfie! The potion class’s lizard! He was such a fun character, super cute. 🩷 I loved what happened after the dress rehearsal, I thought it was really sweet of that girl to include our girls and to propose what she did. 🩷 I had a lot of fun seeing the girls work hard and see the actual event happen (with chaos but also a lot of fun and happiness and glitter). 🩷 I love love the art, it is so cute and adorable and sweet and I love that in this one the colours were orange/black/white. So much fun. I am looking forward to the other books colours! 🩷 And I know I mentioned the art, but the cover needs a separate mention, I just love how glittery, sparkly, and fun that is. That was also what got me to reading this series. I saw the first book’s cover and I just wanted to read it. And the same happened with this one, I was already planning to, but seeing that colourful and glittery cover? Sold even more!
🤔 I know dinky as a word that means shabby/unimportant/ratty, so I am bit confused about when it was said about the magicophone. 🤔🤔 These kids are like 9-10, right? I am not sure about you but most kids probably won’t be listening to The Wheels on the Bus or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with such fervour as our trio of girls at that age.
😖😡And I didn’t like how the girls turned to cheating instead of working hard for something. I am glad they learned a lesson, but I am a bit tired of this trope/this thing in children’s books. Too many times kids will get bored/not want to do the effort/whatever else and just try to steal and cheat. I get that kids in real life may do this as well, but does it need to be so often featured in their books? Why not that one of them gets the idea and the other shoots it down? That would work for me if you so desperately want to involve an element like that.
But all in all, I had fun reading this one! It was a cute addition in the series and I would like to read more the books.
I have read the whole uplifting brilliant series of Unicornia, and can’t wait to see if there will be a new book in the series. Every girl loves to dance, will fall in love with Unicornia The Dance Show. In Unicornia land anything is possible. In the Unicornia Academy of Magic, it’s Merry Music Day. Claudia and her friends Sara and Pippa are practicing a dance routine. It can be quite nerve racking dancing in front of the school and parents. Claudia and her friends make a magic potion to drink before going on stage, which doesn’t go right. Can Claudia get her confidence back without any magic potions to help her perform with her friends dancing on top of the rainbow stage? This whole set of Unicornia are absolutely beautiful with amazing adventures in the magical land of Unicornia.
Further sweet adventures in being brave in the magical Unicornia.
I've read a few of this series as my son's friends adore them at school and clamour for them (aged 8, girls, definitely the target market). I would probably have enjoyed them at the same age, but as an adult they do feel twee.
I hadn't realised until this volume that the books are translated, which helps me understand why the language sounds a little 'off' in my ear at times. Nothing that puts you off, but some phrases seem non-native in their construction.
To the book though. There are less magical aspects than in previous episodes, there's only a few mentions of all the magical elements of Unicornia that readers have come to love. It's much more about Claudia and her friends preparing for a dance show, feeling underprepared and lacking practice. With lessons in.... well, needing more practice! And also working together.
Everyone in Unicornia is so gosh-darned nice. Supportive. Helpful. It is definitely a fantasy wonderland of pink fluffy loveliness that readers can melt into and escape.
Sweet lesson in working hard to achieve something and working in a team and helping each other.
For ages 6-9.
With thanks to the publisher for providing a sample reading copy.
Even the unicorns are ready to show off their moves in this twinkle-toed adventure sure to enchant little dancers who can’t get enough of a certain magical creature.
The Unicornia talent show is almost here! At the last minute, Claudia and her friends Sara and Pippa have decided to create their own special dance routine. The stage is designed as a big sparkling rainbow with singing flowers and cotton-candy clouds. Can the friends get their steps in sync to perform for the school and their parents in time for the big day? Welcome to magical potions, glittery hiccups, and unexpected friendship in this fourth Unicornia adventure.
Claudia and her friends want to enter the school dance show, but they can't come up with a dance routine. They stumble around and bump into each other and clap on the wrong beat. Claudia says they just need more practice, but she worries that they will make fools of themselves in front of everyone at the dance show. Should they look for a magical short-cut, or just put in the work and practice more?
This was such a cute book! I love all the magic in the land of Unicornia and the sweet characters. It's so lovely how Claudia's friends rally together to rise to the challenge, and they learn about the value of hard work. They are tempted to cheat with a magic potion that could magically make them good dancers, but in the end they learn that cheating is not the answer. Although this is the fourth book in the series, it can also be read as a stand-alone.
I loved the adorable art work! It really brings the magic to life, and I loved seeing all the cute designs. All the clouds and animals and even the food has cutesy faces. It's so funny and whimsical!

This book has been marked on the Screen It First website for a scene where the girls sneak into the school to take some potion ingredients from a classroom. https://screenitfirst.com/book/unicor...
My least favorite of the five English-language versions of the series published so far. While it explores important themes like cheating, forgiveness, and forging friendships in a pretty good way, the writing suffers from feeling very redundant and monotonous. There's only so much that you can write about practicing dancing, and Ana doesn't do a good job here developing the story out into anything more.
The other Unicornia books are absolutely worth it for younger kids, though.
a fun story about Claudia and her friends taking part in a school dance show. there is magical elements in this fun world. But it mainly about working together and practising. its fun and cute.
I have been reading Children's books to better recommend them when working at my library.
I read this with my 6 year old daughter and she loved it. I could think of other literature I'd rather read. This doesn't translate for adult enjoyment very well.
