She needs a safe place to hide. He needs a reason to believe again. Neither of them expected fake dating to feel this real.

Joy never meant for anyone to hear her made-up boyfriend excuse. But now a nosy neighbor’s gone and volunteered a rugged, widowed cowboy—the single dad who’s absolutely not looking for trouble.

Shiloh Moore has his hands full with his son, the ranch, and the bookstore his late wife left behind. The last thing he needs is a pretend relationship with a celebrity, but saying no to Joy might leave her exposed. “You can choose whatever dream that makes you come alive.”

Joy Cross’s story was worth waiting for! It’s worthy of all the stars.

It’s a story about second chances, redeeming grace, pivoting to refocus, and fighting for what makes one come alive.

Joy has returned to the family ranch for her friend’s wedding, but the truth of the matter is that Joy is exhausted and torn between what she thought she wanted and what brings her the most joy. She soon finds that returning doesn’t mean that everything is rosy and easy; in fact, it’s dangerous.

“Her love of music and of the ranch were at war, and she was caught in the crossfire.”

This story resonated with me because I had someone like Joy’s manager in my life. Jodi nailed the manipulation, the emotional drain, and the mental mind games perfectly. I wanted to yell at Joy to be mindful of his tactics and was thankful, that like me, she had someone watching out for her well-being. It’s good for us all to be aware that there are others out there who wish to take the reins of our present and future. Being forewarned and prepared is half the battle.

When I read that Joy was worried that if she “didn’t allow herself a life beyond music, she’d forget what she sang about”, it stopped me in my tracks. I was just at that junction, standing at the crossroads of continuing with my career or taking early retirement. Joy’s predicament resonated with me in more ways than one ~ perhaps that’s why I love this book so very much! It's my new favourite of the series.

I also appreciated Jodi highlighting:
✔️That sometimes the future doesn’t always look like what you imagined
✔️the importance of focusing on the next right thing
✔️that disappointments that come when we focus on single stitches rather than trust in a God that can see the whole picture
✔️the danger of disappearing into someone’s idea of who we should be
✔️that pipe dreams are worth fighting for
✔️the pitfall of seeing ourselves as the weight of someone’s burden
✔️that sometimes the path forward requires sacrificing something precious
✔️the risk in taking responsibility for something that isn’t within our control and why we do it

If you haven’t read a Jodi Basye book, what are you waiting for? This one can stand alone, but you’ll want to read the Cross Creek Ranch series from the beginning so that you see the dynamics between the siblings and appreciate their growth.

I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

It was a joy to revisit the wonderful Cross Creek Ranch and embark on another adventure with the Cross family, one of my favorite fictional families. This series just keeps getting better! The well-paced, emotion-packed plot kept me reading attentively with its breathless suspense offering one dramatic twist after another. A couple of humorous scenes had me laughing out loud. Wonderful, memorable characters with real life struggles touched my heart and ignited my imagination. I enjoyed the simmering romantic chemistry between Joy and Shiloh and that mistletoe kiss--WOW! The beautifully portrayed small town Christmas setting, brimming with a sense of belonging, wrapped me in its warmth and charm. I greatly appreciate the inspiring faith thread especially the soul-searching advice from the older generation--Morgan, Rachel, and Virgil! I loved this story and highly recommend it. I can't wait for the next book in the Cross Creek Ranch series.
I read an early copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh Wow! Joy, the fourth installment of Cross Creek Ranch is another amazing book.

What a story! Joy is filled with so many emotions, you will find yourself on an emotional rollercoaster (in a good way), I was sitting on the edge of my seat and didn't want to put the book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next, I couldn't turn the page fast enough. I might have stopped breathing a time or two.

Joy is filled with so many amazing and realistic characters; The story is so well written you felt like you were part of the family and could clearly see all that was going on as if you were there.

I would highly recommend this book and a fresh box of tissues.

Also, I love the cover.

I had the privilege to read Cash by Jodi Basye as an ARC book earlier this year. It was amazing and exceeded my expectations. The same can be said for Joy.
Jodi Basye does such a good job of bringing these characters to life and holding the readers' attention. I feel such a connection to these characters and their stories.
This book captures a beautiful and captivating story of Joy coming home to her family from her busy life in Nashville. When she arrived home, she realized how much she had missed out on. Renutited with her siblings and friends, Jodi takes the reader through Joy's time back home. Along the way, Joy is battling her fears of the future, her relationships with her family and friends, and her career. This book pulled me in and kept me invested. The details of Joy's emotions and thoughts made it feel so real. Jodi Basye has an amazing talent with words, and I highly suggest this book for anyone who loves country romance.

The storyline was well written and kept you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed the humorous and endearing moments. Wonderful characters, page-turner, some questionable occurrences, and still a mystery to solve. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This, the fourth book in the ’Cross Creek Ranch’ series is my favorite. You don’t have to have read the previous books in the series but it would definitely make this one more enjoyable. The characters are well drawn and the book captivates one right from the first chapter. I appreciate the way the author reaffirms the Christian faith and personal relationship.

This is book four in the Cross Creek Ranch series, which follows the six children of Morgan and Rachel Cross. Joy has come home for her sister's wedding and creates a fake relationship to hold off her possessive manager. Unfortunately, her tale is overheard, misunderstood and repeated. Shiloh steps in to be her escort and finds himself protecting Joy. Being home reveals to Joy just how far she has been manipulated from the roots of the music she loves. The family is struggling financially and she wants to help. But it looks like the dream she committed to, which can help to provide for her family, has become her nightmare. Meanwhile, Shiloh sees his son bonding with Joy, and feels his own heart drawn to the woman who will be leaving in three weeks. None of this is going to end well.
This book is well written, with excellent descriptions of the beauty of the Colorado mountains and the small town characters and activities. The love story is tender and real, the emotions ascribed to Joy and Shiloh will really tug at your heart. The bad guy is an accurate depiction of a seriously controlling character, who has learned just how to manipulate Joy. The scene where he gaslights her reaction to the way he had grabbed her earlier made my blood boil and the way the family pull together and support each other is heartwarming.
This is an HEA, so things work out, but there's a lot packed into this book. Besides the current story, there's foreshadowing for the final two books, and additional development of the ongoing backstory that hints at someone secretly attempting to destroy Cross Creek Ranch. This is a standalone and not a cliffhanger, but since it's book four, there will be some spoilers if you haven't read the earlier books. I recommend all the books in this series, each one is packed with love, action and some suspense. I have been an advance reader for the entire series and enjoyed each book. Every one is different and exciting.

This is a clean romance book with a touch of faith. It is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone.

Joy is an up-and-coming music star who has gone home around Christmas-time for her sister’s wedding. Her manager, Scott, does not think it’s a good move and wants her to stay in Nashville and obtain a record contract. But, she goes anyway. She’s in town and just leaving a bookstore when the town gossip starts bugging her. She accidentally says she is dating Shiloh, the town’s widower. However, it gets out of hand and she asks him to help her. He won’t lie, so says they have to date for real. He hasn’t dated since his wife died. Her manager follows her and acts possessive. Can Shiloh and her family keep her safe especially since they don’t know what’s at stake? What will happen to Shiloh and his son when she has to leave town?

Great book. I liked the characters. There were a lot of twists and the suspense of what was going to happen next. There are references to things that happened in past stories of this series, but the author was able to explain them in the book. But, I believe I’m going to read the other books as this story was really good.

I received an ARC from the author and am leaving an honest review.

This story was everything I was hoping it would be and officially my favorite of this delightful series full of family, faith, heart and the perfect blend of suspense and romance. This is large family story telling. Sibling relationships that are so endearing. A family that lives and struggles together.

Shiloh, our main character in this one is a solid, head screwed on straight, boots on the ground kind of man—the very best kind. Grieving husband and father just trying to do his best and live content with the hand life and God has dealt him. He was so endearing and so easy to relate to.

Joy was delightful. Homesick, confused and a bit battered from her time away from home chasing her dreams and so easy to root for. I loved that her success didn’t change who she was at her core and her sweet way with Chase. Her devotion to her family and the place that made her made her so easy to love.

So much to love here and more than enough teasers to keep this reader excited for future books in this series.

This long anticipated book has not disappointed.
Joy and Shiloh is a beautiful story of second chances in life, finding one's place and allowing oneself to change your expectations and dreams. As with all Jodi Basye's books, faith is woven through a story that is full of family and a beautiful ranch setting. It is great to catch up with this family again.

This book can be read standalone but is best read in series order. This is a sweet, clean book (no blushing required, marriage & God are honoured).

For those of you who like to read a series through and therefore wait for the full series to be published before reading, do yourself a favour and start this series today already. These books are so good, you can just re-read them when the full series is published (and you won't regret reading them again!).

A suspenseful cozy Christmas read that will keep you up all night.

I, once again, stayed up way past my bedtime reading "Joy", Jodi Basye's latest release. I didn't want to put it down! Through heart pounding suspense that will leave you on the edge of your seat, a slow burn romance, strong and protective family bonds and of course faith, "Joy" more than lives up to the name. Add in a strong heroine, protective hero and his adorbale little boy and this clean Christian romance will leave you craving more! I've loved coming home to visit our Cross family through each of the books from Morgan (the series prequel) to Brant, Maddie Jo, Cash and now of course Joy! I'm excited to continue the story with Joy's final two brothers in the future.
Keep up the excellent work, Jodi!

What a wonderful story! Although Shiloh and Chase appeared in previous books, I enjoyed getting to know them better. They were such a great father and son team. I also enjoyed getting to know Joy, but I felt so badly for her that she was torn between home with her family and continuing with her career. There were a lot of fun times, sweet Christmas celebrations, and romantic encounters all woven through the book with some scary and dangerous twists and turns. Shiloh and Joy had some ups and downs, but I loved their interactions and honesty with each other through them all. It was also good to visit with the other members of the Cross family and to get glimpses into their lives. I’m looking forward to more Cross family romances!

Another great book in the Cross Creek Ranch series.
This is a clean romance, which starts as fake dating,
There’s a wonderful December ‘snowtime’ small town
Wedding and Christmas setting. It’s Maddie Jo’s wedding and sister Joy has come home to celebrate with the family. She needs a break from the pressure of her music career, but her manager comes to town too.
Shiloh and his fun son Chase get to know Joy better.
It’s a captivating well written romantic suspense, that sensitively deals with the topics of stalking, emotional blackmail and manipulation that leads to dangerous situations. There’s tension and suspense, with a touch of Christian faith. Highly recommend this book, and all the books in the series, as well as prequel Morgan.

When Joy returns to her family's ranch, it's not just for Christmas and her sister's wedding, it's to get away from her overbearing manager who is starting to scare her. She never expects to fall into a fake relationship to thwart her manager's antics but that's exactly what happened! Neither are looking for a relationship since she is working on her music career in Nashville and he is a single father to his son. Come along for the ride as Joy faces perils she never expected and Cillian faces a future full of uncertainty.

I received an ARC from the author; however, my review is my own opinion and done of my own volition.

Great addition to the Cross Creek Ranch series by Jodi Basye.
Shiloh is a single dad raising his eight year old son and working for Cross Creek Ranch.
Joy is heading home to Cross Creek Ranch from her tour as a famous country singer.
Shiloh hasn’t been interested in a woman since his wife died five years ago but Joy stirred up emotions he wasn’t sure about.
Joy’s manager is coming to town and seems to want more than a business relationship so in desperation she tells him Shiloh is her new boyfriend.
How will this pretend relationship end up?

Joy: Cross Creek Ranch Romance

Joy Cross, Shiloh and Chase Moore have a wonderful story. Joy is a musician with a chance at becoming a star of country music but she needs a break and her sister is about to be married so she is heading home to Cross Creek ranch against her controlling manager’s protest. Shiloh is a single dad who lost his wife years earlier. He has never opened his heart to another since her death. When Joy discovers her manager is following her to Cross Creek, she makes up a story of a boyfriend and Shiloh is the only name she can think of when asked who. I recommend you read their story.

I have to say Joy is now my favorite from the Cross serries. You don't need to have read the earlier books to enjoy this one, but I loved how we gained more insight into some of those characters as we followed Joy and Shiloh's journey.
Joy is struggling with making choices between her family and career and Shiloh thinks he must devote himself to caring for his son after his wife died and not get involved in a new relationship. Their story will keep your interest with the perfect combination of suspense, family drama and, of course, romance.

I just finished Joy, I know I’m late, but I did receive it late due to email mix up. This is the third book in the series I’ve read, counting the prequel.i really have to go back and read the ones I’ve missed to catch up.

Jodi has written a family that you root for and can’t help but love. Each character is complex and brings an interesting story to the series. The research she has had to put into these characters and the details tells of her dedication to her art.

I received this book from the publisher and was not required to leave a review. The opinion is my own.

A breathtaking story that you won’t want to put down. Joy and Shiloh agree to date to help keep Scott from getting too overbearing. Unfortunately neither is immune to their growing feelings for each other. And their relationship doesn’t stop Scott. I really enjoyed reading this book with all the diverse and wonderful characters.

WOWZERS! I just thought the other books were great but this book takes it over the top in bringing in the depth and character of the Cross Creek family. While troubles are constantly haunting them, they are pulled through by the power of God in their lives. Their challenges and struggles bring hope and love. "Joy" just makes you smile ... constantly! She is someone you want to know, want to be part of her life, want to see her dreams lived out.

Joy is an entertaining and heartfelt story that pulls you in right away. The characters are incredibly lovable, each with their own personality, making it easy to feel connected to them as the story unfolds.

The book does a wonderful job balancing excitement and suspense, keeping you curious about what will happen next while still offering moments of warmth and hope. It’s the kind of story that makes you smile, worry, and cheer for the characters all at once.

Cross Creek Ranch and Joy is front and center. Where else would a singer about to breakout be? Shiloh has adjusted to being a single dad but not to the loss of his wife. Jodi writes another remarkable story with exquisite layers in the characters and the story line. What happens “when kids and grief and real lives are involved.”

This was a great read with all the feels of a slow burn romance. Loved the characters and the mystery plot that is building around this family. A holiday story with a bit of faith, lots of family, a bit of love, and a troublesome manager makes for I couldn’t wait for the end. Not going to lie I am already ready for the next one.

Joy, the latest Cross Creek Ranch story is an exciting and fun read. Joy needs a break from her singing career and road trips. She decides to come home for her sister’s wedding and the Christmas Holidays. Sounds like a restful and enjoyable time, but things go sideways when her overbearing manager, Scott, shows up. Joy asks Shiloh to be her fake date for the Christmas Dance to keep Scott away from her. Joy didn’t expect to become so attached to Shiloh’s son, Chase and maybe, just maybe to his father. However there is a record deal in Nashville and the bonus will pay the families mortgage payments. The harrowing adventure that befalls, Joy, just when she thinks things cannot be worse will take your breath away! You feel like you are in the middle of each scene. Joy’s story is one you will find hard to put down. The Cross Family is like an old friend and you want to join them for afternoon coffee and dessert.

I loved the continuation of the Cross family saga and getting to know Joy and Shiloh better through their story. What happens to Joy is so scary, and brings to light how easy it could be any woman’s story. I hope this isn’t the last and that there is more to come about the Cross family in the future!

Wonderfully written book by Jodi Basye. There are many characters in the story because this is a large family. I loved how there was a solution to the main problem. God, in His infinite wisdom has everything planned out for us, sometimes surprising us.

I love Jodi’s way of writing that brings in real life trials and remind us how God has a plan and He sees the full picture. God even cares enough to not only validate our dreams but also validates us.
