Hackett Creek is slasher perfection wrapped in a blanket of the horrors of humanity! I was lucky enough to beta read this book and to say it has been rattling around in my head every day since then is an understatement.

Just a few things you’ll find in Hackett Creek:

🪓 Isolated Cabin
🌲 Camping Trip Gone Wrong
🪓 Family of Cannibalistic Hillbillies
🌲 Horror with a Romantic Subplot
🪓 FMC with Past Trauma
🌲 Protective, Heavily Scarred MMC

Raelle Lowe absolutely nails the beloved slasher tropes, while also weaving in my favourite parts of any good horror: trauma & mental health, social commentary, juxtaposition between good and evil, and realistic reactions and lingering effects to the terrors the characters experience.

One thing specifically that Lowe executes beautifully is Larkin’s inner monologue. The self-blame and introspection that she experiences as a result of her traumas is so realistic and well done; relatable to those who have similar experiences and offering a glimpse inside her head to those who don’t. It is visceral, realistic, and spot on. Larkin’s ability to remain tender in the face of atrocities, while still being tough and continuing to fight is yet another aspect of refreshing realism to her character. It adds such another powerful layer to her final girl arc – of not just survival and revenge, but also of redemption in her mind, leading Larkin’s story to resonate even stronger with the reader.

Lowe walks the line between raw and detailed in this book – highlighting events in a way that still wraps the reader in horrors without delving into the overly gratuitous, especially when handling some of the delicate subject matter included in this book.

The humanity that Lowe has written into the family of cannibalistic killers illustrates the juxtaposition of good vs evil of the different members raised the same into a family of sadistic killers. The exploration of nurture vs nature shows the reader the goodness that still has the ability to strike through their upbringing and makes us feel a connection to certain members of the family that we might not have expected to, especially when compared to the members of the family who very much do not and revel in their sadistic tendencies instead!

Hackett Creek showcases the powerful themes that lie beneath horror, which draws my mind back time and time again to this story. There is the top level horror (the gore, the atrocities, the dark & disturbed) which is, of course, superb, but there is so much depth lurking as well if you choose delve in further.

*Thank you so much to the author for an advance copy of this book! All thoughts expressed above are my own!

Make sure you clear your schedule. You will not be able to put this book down. If you have to put it down, it’s all you’ll think about, dream about, until you can pick it back up again.

Perfect blend of thrill, horror, with a touch of romance. The descriptions are the perfect amount of gruesome, shocking, twisted, heart-pounding, and brilliant! As a person who generally exclusively reads fantasy, this was a perfect transition to another genre. It’s definitely not for someone who prefers a slow-paced, gentle, rockabye story before bed, this is for readers that want to be taken out of reality and inserted into a slasher film.

It is so, so good. Highly recommend for your pleasure, book club, or for literature study, it is that good. I’m so sad it’s not a series. Can’t wait for more from Lowe.

Hackett Creek needs to be added to your Summerween TBR right now!

If you love Horror Romance or are wanting to try a new genre then I highly recommend checking out Hackett Creek by Raelle Lowe. This book is the perfect read for lovers of Wrong Turn , Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, this book truly captures the authentic slasher movie vibes along with romantic tension between our two main characters.

I knew from the moment I started this book I’d fall in love with it and I did, Hackett creek is everything I could have hoped for and more. The raw emotions that Raelle has captured with both Larkin and Isaac truly ensnared me from the beginning and at times I forgot I was reading altogether, I felt I was there with them both, enduring the torment that they went through.

I fell in love with Isaac the moment I met him, he’s the perfect blend of being soft and caring but also possessive and willing to do anything to keep Larkin safe. He definitely needs to be on all of our book boyfriends list.

Larkin may be one of my favourite FMCs ever, her resilience and strength to continue even when she thought she couldn’t fight anymore proved how much of an amazing final girl she really is. Larkin is badass!

Hackett Creek is full of grit and gore and really paints a picture of what it would be like to be inside a house full of cannibals and I can’t wait to see what Raelle creates next!

Overall I really really loved this book, everything about it and now is one of my favourite books. I’ve never read a book like this one!

Star rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice rating: 🌶️

Some tropes found within Hackett Creek:

🪓 Cannibalistic Hillbilly Family
🪓 Enemies to Lovers
🪓 cabin in the woods
🪓 Captor/Captive
🪓 Touch her and die
🪓 Forced proximity

-First things first, I have only had 2 books inspire me to wanna make a playlist, this is one of them. I had honor of getting an ARC of Hackett Creek and now I’ve been staring at the wall since I finished it.

-There’s just something about a horror that gives a southern gothic feel with a female lead who isn’t gonna wait around for God to save her. The nature vs nurture debate I feel is a huge part of this story because Isaac, who’s raised around evil and evil is all he knows, but somehow he can’t bring himself to let that evil in.

-There are some romantic undertones but it isn’t the main genre, this is definitely a horror but I love the relationship between Lark and Isaac, HE GIVES HER HIS FLANNEL!

4.5 stars!!!
I must mention this is the 1st book is quite a while that made me stay up late to finish! I stayed up until almost 2 am. reading, and I had work the next day!
It starts off a bit slowly, not boringly so. And the story spends a lot of time in Larkins head. But it really did have me thinking of Wrong Turn a lot!
Before I go on, if you choose to read this, please check the triggers!! it is a dark romance! and there are a lot of dark things that happen. I, fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, dont have very many triggers, so this was very dark, it was so good to me!
Larkin and a group of her friends go out to spend their long weekend at a cabin nestled dep in a Canadian forest. At first, Larkin is trying to keep the peace and try to have fun, but after there's tension between her and them, she starts to feel off and see things in the trees.
it doesn't take long for the dark and disturbing to happen.
Larkin is then thrusted into the disturbing and dark lives of the Hackett family, a deranged family cut off from the world. But there is one of them who has emotions not shown by any of the others. and who saved Larkin and claims her as his.
It's a book about a woman trying to survive and a man who isn't like his family.
The writing is pretty good. It's a lot of inner dialog and thoughts, but you get a good sense of who Larkin is and what she goes through, and it doesnt feel long and drawn out. She was a bit aggravating at times. Like you get mad at the way she reacts and does things. But then you remember that you're reading from the safety of your home, and the reactions she has are pretty much what you'd expect in those situations.
It is a dark romance. There isn't and "spice" between the 2 mmc/fmc. At first I was a bit disappointed with the no spice. But as you progress in the story, you appreciate it. With all the horrors that take place, the 1 good thing is that he truly cares for her and won't let anything happen to her, even sex because he doesn't want her to feel she needs to. You still get the romance and the feelings.
It lost half a star because I didn't really vibe with the very ending, it leaves too much open for me haha. Im not mad at it, just wish more was written and explained!
Does this mean maybe a novella??!?

Holy hell. This book was so damn good, I’m still struggling to put all my thoughts and emotions into words. From the very first page, Hackett Creek had me on edge—biting my nails, heart racing, and dreading what could happen next. It’s raw, intense, and absolutely unputdownable.

If you’re looking for your next Summerween read, look no further. Hackett Creek is perfect for fans of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Wrong Turn—but with a dark, emotional twist of romance that sets it apart. It’s gritty, gory, and terrifying, but it also delivers a surprising amount of heart.

Despite coming from a family of cannibals (yes, you read that right), Isaac is the most unexpected kind of hero—fiercely protective, deeply caring, and willing to risk everything for Larkin. The dynamic between them is everything. This isn’t a spicy romance—and honestly? It doesn’t need to be. When you're being hunted and held captive by a group of hillbilly cannibals who want you dead, there's not exactly room for steamy moments.

What we do get is something even better: a slow-burning, deeply emotional bond built on fear, survival, and fragile trust. Watching Larkin learn to trust Isaac, despite everything stacked against them, was incredibly powerful. Their connection felt earned and real.

This book is bloody, brutal, and a hellish ride from start to finish—but it's also about hope in the darkest places. I loved it. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your horror romance TBR ASAP.

Holy shit! This was one of the best books I’ve ever read. Gripping from start to finish, I could not put it down!!
Can you believe this is Raelle’s debut?! I can’t!

Spoilers below*****

Larkin is such a complex character. Her background and lore is just so intense, from one thing to the next, yet she remains so strong and compassionate.

Isaac too, proves that you are not a product of your environment, that you can be better. He is too good for that family, him and Ely. My boy Ely deserved so much better.

The hate I felt for characters like Jed, that is a damn sadist right there! He deserved a slow painful death. I’d say some of the family maybe didn’t know any better if they were brought up this way but some of them were just pure evil. And to hide behind God, oh I hate that shit

This book pulled such emotion from me, it was such a good story. From the build up of scenes, reveals, and having chapters that kind of took you back for a second, only to be thrown right back into the madness. My heart was pounding!!

The deliverance of the lines to Otis about both knowing what it’s like to lose a mother. Fuck yes girl! Burn it down! I loved her for this and the end.

The only thing I couldn’t stop thinking was way Larkin cared so much about Jason. Besides the reveal at the end, which I thought was pretty obvious because the guy is a dick! He was so cruel to her, I would have said fuck that guy a long time ago and left him.

The biggest shock was Carla! I did not expect her at all! And I was so sad for her. She deserved to be a final girl

Ugh so good! I hope Issac and Larkin got their HEA

Hillbilly cannibals

I was really luck to receive an advance reader copy of this book and will definitely be grabbing a paperback trophy for my shelf! This was my first horror romance and it was such a fun ride! As someone who is usually scared of horror movies, this was a completely different experience. Still spooky, still got my heart racing, but I wasn’t scared. Maybe it was the MMC that helped with that 👀 I had a really great time reading this and I know you will too!

About two weeks ago I finished Hackett Creek by Raelle Lowe, I had been patiently waiting for this book for I wanna say about a year and when she finally released her ARCs I couldn't pass it up. Unfortunately life tends to get in the way of things so I was pretty late to the party with posting my review, but when I was finally able to sit down with this book I was hooked with the first page and now that I'm done I literally can't get it off my mind. This book is a horror/romance/cannibal hillbilly slasher that's very reminiscent of Wrong Turn, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cabin in the Woods and even The Hills Have Eyes and it follows a young woman named Larkin and her friends into the deepest parts of the woods to stay at a secluded cabin near Hackett Lake. It just so happens that there's a psycho cannibal family not too far from where they're at and let's just say things don't go according to plan, but what saves Larkin from having the same fate as her friends is a man named Issac who decides that she's his for the taking. There's a few twists and LOTS of wonderful build up, I was hanging on to the edge of my seat at times! I DESPERATELY need this book to be turned into a movie! Although I will say make sure you read the trigger warnings, there was a couple of parts that had to deal with some SA and if you're sensitive to that or have PTSD I would tread very carefully. With that said though, Raelle is an amazing writer and is extremely descriptive so much so that I swear I was able see, hear, taste, smell and feel everything Larkin was it was crazy and I absolutely loved it! I can't wait for Raelle's next project and I highly suggest Hackett Creek to anyone who loves horror, thriller or even dark romance! You can get it on Amazon right now y'all! Happy reading 🖤🖤

That was pure insanity... I don't think I've ever read anything quite like Hackett Creek, and I probably need 5-10 business days to fully gather my thoughts on it.

The writing and overall storytelling felt very cult-classic/slasher film (think Cabin in the Woods meets The Hills Have Eyes or something). It also REALLY reminded me of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard - it was all I could picture for the parents and such... If I were to pick the genre(s), I would say it's first and foremost a Horror novel, but mixed with Thriller/Suspense as well, and a tiny splash of Dark Romance (just a heads up, there was While it took me 15-20% to really get into it (as the start of the book lagged a tad in the descriptions and such), once the plot picked up I seriously couldn't put it down and read it in a day!

Be forewarned, this book is DARK.

I mean...makes your tummy a little sick while you read kinda dark, and not really a "ooh come chase me through the woods, Mr. Killer *giggle" kinda dark. So please check out the trigger warning list before reading, if you have any concerns. This is NOT your typical dark romance - this has lots of gore and very heavy-hitting themes!

This is probably one of the most atmospheric books I've ever read. I felt like I was right there with Larkin, experiencing things that she went through. I felt like I could taste the air of the farm, feel the floorboards creek under my feet, and sense the suffocating stench of death and misery. Kudos to Raelle Lowe for her impeccable writing - I actually feel like I need to go stare at a wall for an evening now.

Out of everyone, I think Isaac was my favourite character. I wanted to know more about his upbringing and what led him to wanting something else for his life, compared to his family. I really didn't like any of the friends on the trip (aside from Carla of course), and even at the start of the book I was unsure if I even liked Larkin. She had to grow on me, for sure!

I have some questions that I need answers to: SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

My Fav Quotes:
"Sometimes, we just feel bad. Sometimes, good feelings get lost, and we have to find them."

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️

I’m floored. Staring at the ceiling, wishing this book didn’t have to end, floored. This is Raelles debut book, and my god, judging by the writing, the storyline consistency and the level of being able to dive into greater detail about certain scenes and surroundings, but not overly describe, but still is able to tell you everything you need to know, is truly the sign of a great writer. And that’s what she is, a truly great writer.

Hackett Creek tells the story of a group of five friends who have found a cabin for a fun time away. The plan is to drink, hike, drink some more and have fun….what they don’t expect is for three of the group to wander off for a hike and be gone for hours….wandering away along a trail to Hackett Creek. Hearing screams a few hours later in the woods, Larkin, our main girl and her new friend, Carla set out to find their missing friends, Lisa, Jason and Randy.

What they stumble on is something far worse than they ever thought possible. A Cannibalistic family that hates outsiders, her friends being murdered and meeting the one man in the family who hates his family’s ways and wants out and the promise of a new, better life.

Larkin is forced into a situation, as a survivor where she lives against her will with the Hackett family who never hide who they are and the only ally she has is Isaac, who claimed Larkin as his own and sees her as his gateway to escape…..and possibly more.

This book is written BEAUTIFULLY. The writing style is gorgeous and there was not one part in the entire book where the plot line stalled or lost my interest. It had me hooked immediately.

The gore was fantastic and nauseating. The family were abhorrent and Isaac and Larkin were an excellent duo. The ending had me holding my breath as I truly didn’t know what would happen….and it absolutely did not disappoint.

This book was atmospheric and a dark and depraved look at the other side of a depraved way of life or peoples idea of what depths people will go to to survive with or without a moral compass.

This book absolutely is going on my books of the year list. It’s that impressive. It’s that well written, it’s disturbing and haunting but even at 400+ pages, I wanted more.

Read this book. If you like horror that keeps the tension palpable and horror that has a gore that’s not your typical slasher horror, then you’ll love Hackett Creek. I did, so much, I bought the hardback already.

ARC Review

Waiting. Watching. Hunting.
They’re hungry.

Do you love romantic horror? Wound tending? Touch her and d13?
How about movies like Cabin in the Woods, The Hills Have Eyes, Deliverance, and House of 1000 Corpses?

Then you’ll love Hackett Creek!

Truly, this book is haunting, disturbing, heart-warming, and terrifying in all the best ways. I loved that it kept me guessing and each time I thought it couldn’t get any worse and everyone was gonna die…it got worse. I cannot believe this is a debut. It’s so well written and gripping from beginning to end.

Favorite Quotes:

“I have a knack for being consumed.”

“It isn’t the darkness itself that makes me uneasy, but the monsters my mind creates and houses in that darkness, the feelings that the absence of distraction lets meander.”

“No one is safe from death. But we can live so that when the time comes, when it’s the only door left open, we can say that life meant something.”

“Chance is neither an angel nor a demon. It plays its part and leaves the rest up to us.”

“I won’t leave you. Not after everything I’ve sacrificed to get you this far, to get myself here - Right here, right now. You have shown me more than I’ve seen in all my years. You are the softness that I thought the world lacked. And I won’t sit back and let that softness be destroyed. Not a chance. I’m not some lame horse, no use putting a gun between my eyes just yet.”

This concept is 10/10 incredible. Cannibal hillbillies who kidnap a girl who then falls for the not-so-bad son? Say less.

Unfortunately, it had some pacing issues that I really struggled with. We spent an enormous amount of time in the FMC’s head, and areas that were supposed to feel like slow-building dread just felt like meandering inner monologue.

I reeeally lost focus around the point that Larkin spends about five paragraphs contemplating whether or not to have a shower, and then decides not to. For no reason.

Lots of potential and I will read this author again, but I picked it up and put it down about twenty times because I just couldn’t get past the unnecessary narration of irrelevant things. By the end of the first act I was skipping entire chapters and didn’t miss anything critical (at no point was I confused later on).

This book is for readers who are okay with a lot of purple prose, and a ton of internal monologue without much action.

I was lucky enough to be chosen as an ARC reader for this break-out first novel by Raelle Lowe.
This story flows very well, keeps a fella's attention, and is definitely a page turner. Lotsa a** puckering moments where someone in the theatre would yell out "No! Don't go in there!" You will find youself wondering if you should trust someone, or risk it and run. Recommend to anyone that isn't afraid of a little blood and dirt violence, by which in no part is over done, just realistic and shocking when needed. You will feel the creaks in the old wooden floors, and smell the dust on the old picture frames. Hear the babble of the brook, and know the light of the window... fully immersive. I enjoyed this jaw-clenching ride, and look forward to more from this up and coming author. "Hackett Creek" powerfully delivers.

Can I give this book more stars because that is what it deserves!

Raelle blends horror with romance and brings all the vibes of wrong turn, texas chainsaw and more. Her writing is spectacular and her descriptive writing literally blew me away to the point at one part I literally thought I was going to puke.

I am so proud of this author and as someone who has read it from the begining of the publishing journey to the end I cant believe how amazing it is every time I read it. Definitely my favourite book of 2025 and I do not think anything will top it.

You will fall in love with the main characters which is everything you want in a book.

So we all know I’m a sucker for a cabin in the woods story so when Raelle was offering PR copies of her book how could I resist? Thank you so much 🪓 🖤
‘Where we’re going the words written on the signs don’t matter.’
A car journey from Hell. A booby trapped road. All the signs scream go home! But this intrepid group continue on.
A shadow unlike the others. Gunfire. Something gives chase and as I always say this is where this story really opens up. There’s something else out there…
The tension builds from the very first chapter. The world building is on point and this book kept me hooked. This is the perfect slasher for spooky season! It gave me the lamb meets house of a 1000 corpses.

This book was so unique, it was unlike anything I have read before. It also sent me on an emotional rollercoaster for most of the book. My anxiety was definitely high while I was reading, waiting to see what would happen next. Make sure you check the triggers, this book deals with some difficult topics. If you're ok with all the triggers, pick up this book, it was fantastic. I can't wait to see what else the author has coming out because this was a fantastic debut novel.

This book was a whole lot of “WTF” And “holy shit” and I honestly could not stop reading. Something this dark normally isn't my cup of tea, but the way it was done was so good, I wish there was a movie adaptation! The tension and terror were so palpable, I kind of want a sequel to see how they adjust into normal life after all of this!

Absolutely binged this horror. I love anything set in Canada, and being deep in the woods is even better. I only saw a few tropes going into this, and phew did it deliver.

It was giving Wrong Turn X Hills Have Eyes (also haven’t seen those movies in like 100 years, so I could totally be off)

I’m definitely going to be checking out more from this Canadian author.

What an amazing debut novel! It started off a bit slow for me, but I was still very intrigued and couldn’t wait to see where it took us, and what a journey it took us on! It had me feeling all kinds of feelings. My interest/investment in it was on and off throughout it though and I think I’ve just to realize that horror without a little spice just might not be for me, and that’s okay! It’s always fun to try out new genres to see what is/isn’t for you ♥️

”𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑. 𝑨𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒓𝒖𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅.”

The first time I heard about 𝑯𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒕 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒌 was back in June, 2024, when I first stumbled over the author’s account - and since then, I’ve been a pretty quiet (I think) lurker. Keeping my eyes open for the big day. 👀

So you can BET that when an opportunity arose which meant that I could get my hands on an e-arc.. I was all over it. Maybe it took me a moment to get to it, but babes. 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘴. Do you like horror? Gore? Body horror? Slashers?

Reading 𝑯𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒕 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒌 brought me straight back to my teens.
Back to a time when I would be sat with my childhood bestie, a fellow horror lover, watching movies like 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘌𝘺𝘦𝘴, 𝘞𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘶𝘳𝘯, 𝘛𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘦.. Maybe I didn’t even think of the idea of adding romance to the mix, but clearly adult me is not about to complain.

𝑯𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒕 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒌 is like a full meal where the side dish is a romance (𝘯𝘰 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘦) you didn’t know you needed. A romance that you know you should question (but babes, I think Larkin - the fmc - questioned it more than I did) but you still quite.. Can’t? Sure, his family are cannibals and they’re everything but sane - 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘪𝘹 𝘩𝘪𝘮. 🫣

However, despite there being romance in the book - I do wanna point out it’s not the main plot. It’s still a 𝒄𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒔 𝒙 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒓, where vengeance and survival is right at the finish line. And this book truly gave me the same vibe as watching those movies in my teens, only that here we have the addition of a friendship taking root, a seedling of romance and a mutual attraction and affection. But also the mutual desire to get the f–ck out of the woods.

”𝑰𝒇 𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌, 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆.”

“𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨. 𝘽𝙤𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨.”

I’m calling it: Hackett Creek has officially claimed a spot in my top 5 reads of 2025. The obsession is real. The nonstop suspense, the surprise twists, the sheer horror of the Hackett family 😱 One more chapter was never enough. It was near impossible to put this book down!

🚗 Larkin and her friends take a road trip to a secluded cabin in the Canadian backwoods. What starts as a fun getaway turns into a terrifying run-in with a family of hillbilly cannibals 🪓 The Hacketts are savage, violent, and unforgiving. But then there’s Isaac, the one among them who never wanted this life. And for Larkin, his claim on her is the only thing saving her from slaughter ☠️

Hackett Creek is so much more than a horror story. It’s the depth of the characters that makes it such a standout read. The cracks in Larkin’s friendships, her inner battles, Isaac’s torment over the family he can’t escape, the history of how the Hacketts became monsters. Beneath the blood and gore, there’s connection, a twisted sense of comfort, the drive for survival. I didn’t want it to end!
