Dream of You is a novella featuring Reece's brother, Colton, who we meet in Reece's book, Fall With Me. Colton is also a police officer, well, detective, and he shows up to investigate a murder that Abby witnesses.

Turns out they went to high school together and each secretly had a crush on the other. Abby had a boyfriend through high school so things never progressed with Colton. Abby ended up marrying her boyfriend but unfortunately he died in a car crash four years ago.

Colton is also just out of a long term relationship and is thrilled to have a second chance with Abby. He gets frustrated that she doesn't believe he wants to be with her and isn't just with her to protect her and solve the crime. I would have loved to have his POV.

description

Things get a little dramatic with all the criminal investigation but I loved how Colton was always there for her, as well as, Reece and Roxy.

I was happy to have most of the couples we've come to know in this town all become friends. We didn't get much of Katie's "weirdness" and nothing of Nick which was a little disappointing since his book is next. I did enjoy getting to know Jillian who seems like she will be with Brock in his book.

The next book is Nick's titled Forever With You and is coming out September 29, 2015. And then Brock's Fire in You coming out sometime in 2016.

description

Favorite quote:

♥ “I’ve dreamed of you for so long.”

Colton picked up my hand and brought it to his mouth, kissing my palm. “You don’t have to dream anymore.”

Sweet, sexy, and romantic, this Wait for You novella simply enchanted me from the start. Colton steamed from the pages of the previous book, I couldn't wait to see what he had lined up for us =)) Abby, holy cow Abby. A girl that has dealt with the ultimate losses. The worse kind of pain. Yet she's a strong independent woman, that has some tweaking to do to her self confidence levels. After dealing with so much loss in the past, she never expected to find someone special. Could Colton Anders really be her dream come true??? He was sure close to being mine ;-)

I liked seeing the author addressing self-esteem and self-confidence issues with her female hero. You rarely find that in the romance genre today. You have to learn to love yourself, flaws and all, and in doing so, you can shut that ugly voice up in your head for good. The sizzling, gorgeous Colton Anders forces sweet Abby to take a deeper look and see what he sees, a beautiful person, a caring person, a person he will do anything for. Even though it was insta-love, a bit too fast, but hey, life is short and these two experience some crazy intense circumstances and tragedies in their lives, I really did enjoy this novella. It definitely left me with a huge smile and yet another couple I can't wait to get more of in this series.

Lloro.

***Warning: this is an adult book, and for the eyes of mature readers***

Official Summary:

Abby Erickson isn't looking for a one-night stand, a relationship, or anything that involves any one-on-one time, but when she witnesses a shocking crime, she's thrust into the hands of the sexiest man she's ever seen - Colton Anders. His job is to protect her, but with every look, every touch, and every simmering kiss, she's in danger of not only losing her life but her heart also.

What I Liked:

I haven't read a book from this series in quite some time! Well, in all honesty, all I've missed is Reece and Roxy's books, Fall With Me. I'm not big on New Adult contemporary romance - it starts to sound the same, over and over, and Armentrout is yet another author that falls in this trap (at least, in my opinion). This particular work by her is ADULT fiction - not New Adult. The protagonists are in their late twenties, I believe. The romance and chemistry is definitely adult-rated, not New Adult. Maybe that's why I liked this one more than I expected? I love adult romance!

Abby isn't expecting her date to end in her witnessing a murder. She was on a date with a guy she didn't even like, and she left in a rush - but then heard something and saw three men surrounding one man, and one of the three man shoot the lone man. When Abby is taken to the police station for a statement, she discovers that one of the detectives is Colton Anders, an old high school crush. Colton is even more sinfully handsome and wickedly sexy than he was years ago, but his job is to protect her from further threats. But the real threat lies between them - are either of them ready for a new relationship, with so much at stake?

Abby is an interesting protagonist. She is different from most of Armentrout's other characters. She is very insecure about her appearance and her body, and knows that she isn't of "average" proportions or beauty (whatever that means). Basically, she's insecure. Her husband and high school sweetheart died four years ago and in a way, she is still grieving. She still loves him. Meeting Colton sparks a fire in her that she has not ever felt. Abby's insecurities and self-doubts are common among many women, and it was gratifying to see that type of weakness in fiction.

Colton is your typical alpha male - gorgeous, sexy, wicked. He's also sweet and kind, and dotes on Abby in a yummy way. He brings her desserts for breakfast! Yes! But he's very one-dimensional in my opinion. Still, I liked the idea of him. I think he could have been more fleshed out. Abby is really fleshed out. Colton is not. This could be due to the length of this novella.

The story is on and off, honestly, in terms of the murder and the aftermath. Like, it doesn't seem to go anywhere at times, like it meanders. And then pops back up, and then tapers off. There doesn't seem to be a general climax in the book involving the murder. Yet that is what brings Colton and Abby together. It's like the murder was used to bring them together, and then it disappears. So, meh.

The romance is pretty hot, though I think it has a touch of insta-lust and insta-love. Abby and Colton say "I love you" very quickly... I don't doubt love, but hmmm. Still, the chemistry is sizzling and the interactions between Abby and Colton are sweet and hot.

I liked this novella, overall! It was a bit too short and the non-romance plot was lacking, but I still thought this book was okay.

What I Did Not Like:

Like I said above, I found Colton to be one-dimensional. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of him. He sounds like a hot guy, with a sense of honor and chivalry, and a certain sexy charm about him. But he seems too "godlike" and perfect and sweet. Can we see some of the "bad" sides of males in romance novels, too? Like, when they get angry, with the female protagonist? Real couple fight, real couples argue, real couples get angry with each other. I'm not saying anyone has to get hurt physically or something, but real relationships are this perfect.

The non-romance plot was a bit lacking, in my opinion. This sounds weird because there is plenty involving the murder and the aftermath and the retaliation. But mostly, I was feeling pretty meh about the story outside of he romance.

Insta-lova runs rampant in this novella. It's simply too short for me to both 1) get a good feel of Colton and his personality - he's too flat a character at the moment, and 2) really dig into the romance and the relationship between Abby and Colton. They reconnect for a few weeks and BAM! They love each other? I guess it's possible but ehh...

Would I Recommend It:

I suppose so! It's JLA, and most people who like one or two of her books like them all. This one isn't her best, but the romance is pretty hot and the book is short and enjoyable. It's an ADULT novel! Not New Adult or Young Adult. Just a warning.

Rating:

3.5 stars. I haven't decided if I want to round up or round down. Either way, this one wasn't JLA's best by far, but it wasn't her worst. It was a decent novella, and I liked the 1001 Nights theme going on. Makes me want to try the other 1001 Dark Nights novellas!

Another book of this series(Wait for you) by J.Lynn that impresses me.

 photo giphy_zpsa41yaimh.gif

It´s about Abby and Colton. Abby it´s an editor, she is a widow, her husband,Kevin, died 4 years ago and since then she has never tried to find someone who makes her alive, until Colton, a cop, enters in her life. They have known each other in high school, and they suddenly meet in the police station where Abby is reporting a murder. Suddenly,Colton begins to show interest for her, but she doesn´t believe that `happily ever after` exists in real life just in books.

``Or maybe it was the fact that I spent every day caught up in the fictional worlds of the authors I editged, experienced their love, their heartbreak and everything in between that I hadnt , in the last four years, experienced anything in the real world or taken any time for myself.``-Abby

She enjoys reading books and likes to eat chocolates and drink coffe.

``But he didnt get it. He didnt understand that there was a part of me, no matter how much attention or attraction he tossed in my direction or what he said, that couldnt truly believe he really wanted all of this with me.``- Abby

They spend time with each other, and she suddenly starts to fall for him.

``There was a good chance that in such a short period of time, I´d fallen for Colton and I ... I might have already lost him.``-Abby

The passion builds around them as they try to know each other. . .

``There was nothing soft or gentle about the way he kissed me. It was fierce and passionate, a kiss of pent-up desire exploding the moment our mouths fused together, a kiss of need.``- Abby

``I´ve dreamed of him-of someone like him-for a long time.I´m in love with him . I dont know if he feels the same way, but I know . . . I know how I feel.``- Abby

"I leaned down and kissed him,.There was barely a space between our lips when I spoke.``I´ve dreamed of you for so long.``
Colton picked up my hand and brought it to his mouth, kissing my palm.´´ You dont have to dream anymore.``
My lips curved into a smile.
He was right. I didnt have to dream anymore."

FANTASTIC!!! So glad that I read it.

Dream of You is an e-novella. It is #4.5 in the Wait for You series. I would suggest definitely reading it after book #4 (since the narrators of Fall With Me are connected to this story) and before book #6 (because one of the main characters from Fire in You is introduced in this story).

This book is more Adult contemporary romance vs New Adult.

The narrator is 28 year old Abby. She lives in the same town as Mona's bar. Some of the characters from the Wait for You series have minor parts in this story. The main characters from Fall With Me have the biggest part. And Reese's brother is in this novella.

Something happens to Abby at the start of this e-novella. She witnesses a crime. I liked how this set-up the rest of the story. However, I wish that there was more related to the crime in this story. I just really wanted more.

Abby is a widow. She works as a freelance editor. I liked how much Abby liked books. It was also interesting that Abby wasn't a perfect size 2-4. She had body issues like many women. And it was different to see this addressed in a book.

I liked getting to meet Reese's brother Colton. He was a good character. However, I would have liked to know more about him (what were his faults?).

The story is short, but it felt complete. I think that if you like this series then you will like this story. I enjoyed it and I'm very glad I read it before Fire in You (because Jillian is introduced in this novella).

***4.5/5 Stars***
I was the kind of woman who got the guy in the books.
But not in real life.
Never in real life.

Dream of you was a playful book that I devoured way too quickly.  It had elements of intensity, sexiness and reality laced throughout the pages, which made for such an enjoyable read!  Abby and Colton were people that I easily became attached to and cared for deeply.  They were a wonderful addition to the Wait For You Series!  And while I may be wrong, this book felt as though it was the sexiest in the series!  And that’s saying a lot, since it was only a little over 100 pages long.  Or maybe it was because there was so much crammed into such a short story.  But looking back over Dream of You, I love how the banter and sex scenes were written.  They were scorching hot from the beginning until the end!
Oh goodness, I had only ever read about men staring at women in a way that it felt like a physical touch before. I hadn’t really believed it possible.
It was.

Abby is a character that you must meet!  She was a breath of fresh air and so many people will be able to find little pieces of themselves in her.  That’s because not only does she fan-girl about books/authors that we’ve heard of, which was amazing, but she was self-conscious about her body.  She definitely didn’t have the best self esteem in the world, and I have rarely seen that portrayed in books that I’ve read.  It was interesting listening to Abby’s inner ramblings and negative comments about herself, because those are the things that so many of us do.  At times, she knew that she shouldn’t be thinking those thoughts, but she couldn't stop them either.  But that’s not Abby’s only issue.  Four years ago her husband passed away, and in the meantime she has consumed her life with work which is editing books.  Fun!  But since her husband passed away, Abby hadn’t been interested in a guy, let alone thought about wanting to get naked with one.  So when Colton stepped into her world, her insecurities flared to life.
Our gazes locked, and in an instant, a horrifying connection was formed. He saw me. I saw him.
I saw him shoot someone in the face.
And this man, this killer, knew that.

The way that Abby and Colton met was definitely not desirable.  She was a witness to a homicide, and Colton was one of the detectives at the police station that was to interview her.   The moment that he stepped into the room, I fell all over him.  Because Colton is another male, in a long line of guys that Jennifer Armentrout has created, that I am in love with!  He was protective, sexy, sweet, caring and did I say sexy?  I loved his brother Reece, in Fall With Me, and Colton was every bit as desirable!  There has to be something in their blood, because any words that would spill out of Colton’s mouth made me want to throw myself at him.  Want to see proof?  Nicknames or terms of endearment can easily rub me the wrong way, I know, I know, I can be way too picky.  And I never thought that I would be a fan of honey, but when it came sailing out of Colton’s mouth, it was perfection!
Closing my eyes, I exhaled softly. “You want to see me, but I’m not sure you really want to. I don’t look like—”
“I know what you look like,” he said, his voice low as his gaze met and held mine. “I have two eyes and I’ve been checking you out often. Enough that it would probably make you uncomfortable if you knew. I fucking adore what I see.” He drew my hand to his groin, folding my palm over the rigid length. “I want what I see.”

So even though this book flies by way too fast, it is a definite must read for fans of the Wait For You series!  The sparks between Abby and Colton, even during a basic conversation, were hot, hot, hot!  I loved it!  Oh, and I can’t forget Abby’s dirty thoughts.  The things that would pop into her head, my gosh, she had me giggling and covering my mouth while shaking my head no way.  I loved her!  So please do yourself a favor and pick up this book!  So much fun and sexiness is packed into such a quick story, and I loved every minute of it!

More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives

Everyone knows JLA is my favorite author, so it was kinda guaranteed that I would love this one and I did. Everyone has that author that their books just always seem to be a hit for them and JLA is that author for me. Her writing just pulls me in and I always love her books.

My favorite thing about Dream Of You was Abby. I related to Abby in so many ways and I loved that she was realistic. First off, her love of books will be relatable for any avid reader and this book has one of the best bookish quotes ever. I have re-read this quote so many times it’s not even funny. I want to have it monogrammed on everything. But other than that, I just liked her. She has self-confidence issues, but she tries so hard to fight them but she doesn’t always win and I so so got this. I really like how this was presented because it is so common. Every woman feels like this at one point and I really liked the way this was handled.

Of course Colton was incredibly swoony and he was such a great guy. He is an adult and he knows what he wants and he isn’t looking to mess around. He really is a good man and he was perfect for Abby. I love how he liked her for who she was. He liked her and her quirks and she didn’t have to pretend with him. It was really sweet and their chemistry was intense.

I also liked the suspense angle and thought it fit in nicely considering Colton’s career. I really like the way JLA subtly weaved in the suspense element and how it affected the characters. The way they were reunited may have sucked, but something good came out of it and I think they both deserved something good.

Dream Of You was a good read and fans of this series will want to check it out. There were some cameos from our favorite characters, which is always fun and this was another good addition. I am really glad we got Colton’s story.

Original review from my blog Julalicious Book Paradise

rating: 4.5/5

I really enjoyed this book for many reasons:

1. I really love Jennifer Armentrout's writing.
2. The MC reminds me so much of me with her insecurities.
3. Hot guy ;)

I really liked that story and I would have gone for a full book on them. Abby Erickson is the one of the most realistic characters I got to read lately. I could relate to her on so many levels that it scared me and made me love her even more.

Colton Anders is obviously too good to be true. He's good looking and obviously, he's a perfect gentleman. I know in books, they always seem so far away from reality, but my thought lately? I think that if authors write about guys like this, they must exist somewhere hahaha Okay, maybe not as they are described, but it just gives me hope that a good guy could come into my life and make me feel like Colton makes Abby feel.

Overall, this story is really adorable. It's touching and I laughed beeach time she mentioned an author or a book. The bookworm in JLA is at its highest in this book.

Of course, the event that brings these two together might seem less realistic, but when you think of it... We never know when love will give us a second chance.

The suspense plot was boring and predictable. The romance happens very fast, I understand it's a short story that's why the author had to do it.

Overall, It was okay, nothing interesting.

I loved it, another new favorite from this very talented author. Thematically, this was quite simply the perfect read to follow my last heavier read.

Minor spoilers alert!!!

We met Colton only briefly in his brother’s full length novel, Fall with Me (Wait for You #4). Like his younger brother Reece, Colton is a detective who happens to run into his old high school friend, Abby the night that she witnessed a murder after leaving a bar date with Rick the Dick.

I could truly relate to Abby’s body image insecurities. At one point, she and her friend, Jillian had a really interesting conversation about what heroine types romance readers seem to prefer. Unlike the popular heroine types, Abby is just your regular contemporary woman, and I found that refreshing. I also loved, loved the fact that she was an editor and fangirled over some well-known romance authors publishing now.

Colton was admittedly a huge flirt but also an all around sincere and good guy. He completely won me over when he encouraged Abby’s fangirl ramblings and promised to be there to not only protect her from the killer on the loose, but to also help her overcome her insecurities.

“I don’t think less of you because you don’t see what I see, what I know, when I look at you. That’s the issue I’m more than willing to work with.”
~
“I can tell you where this relationship is going. Or at least where I hope it is. We’re going to spend more time together. We’re going to really get to know each other, and I’m going to chip away at that low confidence shit until you see what I see,” he said, and a shiver curled along the base of my spine in response to his steely determination.

My breath caught as he took a step forward and lifted his hands, gently holding my cheeks once more. “I want this to work,” he said, his voice low. “Because like I said before, I believe in second chances and I don’t believe in coincidences. There was a reason why you and I reconnected, and I don’t want to pass that up.”

Surprisingly, Colton had noticed Abby in high school. He always liked and admired her. Abby in turn always harbored a secret crush on him but never acted on it because she was already dating her future husband. Now fate has given them a second chance. Wisely, Abby put on her big girl panties and took advantage of it, now able to live out her romantic dream.

‘While Colton had a role to play when it came to the changes I was making, the feeling of self-worth and confidence had to come from within. Yeah, the external stuff helped, but using a guy’s attention to build your confidence wasn’t something that would last long. It would be dependent upon him, a strength that could be flimsy.

The strength needed to come from me.

And the best way I could gain back the stronger part of me was through actually experiencing life.”

And I loved the glimpses we got of just how Abby went about doing exactly that.

Next up is Stephanie and Nick's love story in the full length novel Forever with You (Wait for You #5) expected out on September 29, 2015.

Alright I just re-read this and damn I forgot HOW MUCH I LOVE Colton and Abby's story. It's true that I would have loved for Abby to be more confident, but still, JLA makes an excellent job with her character. Abby has a lot of flaws, all of them because of her lack of self assurance. But sadly, that's the reality for a lot of women. And it's also true that a woman doesn't need a man to gain confidence and love herself, but in this case I can't help to fall for it. That's the truth, just this one time.

As a reminder for all the Wait For You lovers, do not skip this novella. Or you know what? You better do, more Colton for me *greedy hands*

Okay, why in the world did we get a whole book on Reece and Roxy and just this novella for Colton and Abby!?

I mean... COLTON! Did you feel this something special for Reece? Well, good news, Colton is like the improved version of his brother Reece *sigh*

Yep, JLA did it again.

I liked this! I could have done without the suspense story line, which felt unnecessary, and a couple of other variables (like over the top author shout outs), but the romance itself is swoony. It's a second chance love story only with a slightly different spin. What I really appreciate is that Jennifer addresses self-confidence and the importance of learning to love your body. It's actually a topic I've wanted to see more of in romances because we all have our insecurities. Abby is not model gorgeous. She has "flaws", and sometimes she lets her low self-esteem get the better of her. I found it completely realistic. Now, if only we all had a Colton to tell us how beautiful we are whenever we need to hear it...

Definitely pick this up if you're a fan of the Wait for You series!

I loved Colton and Abby's story. Seriously the first sentence I knew this was gonna be another awesome average(ish) girl and Hotter than Hot guy. Seriously the guys in the series are all AMAZING but Colton is Hot and Charming. I seriously don't think I've used charming to describe a book guy yet... Abby is perfect, she is flawed and beautiful and strong and normal. And I don't mean normal in a bad way I actually mean in the best way ever; the way that at the end of the book you think "Hmmm, maybe I could catch me a Colton." The whole story flowed freely and kept me riveted until the end. Now to hold our breath until Forever with you comes out!

Here's the thing - women are not perfect. Even at the best moment of our lives we are not perfect. And while I love reading about perfect bodies coming together, it's fiction. That's why this book is such a breath of fresh air.

Abby Erickson is not model material and she knows it. She beats herself up about it. And the douche date she has that tells her if she'd lose some weight she'd be hot is a jerk I'd like to backhand. Because that attitude is what has women always worried about how their behind looks in these stupid jeans. I LOVED that Abby walked out of that date. And thus sets the stage for a second chance of sorts.

Despite having had a boyfriend, that she later married, Abby noticed the hottie Colton in high school. Who wouldn't? Of course, even if she didn't have a boyfriend, she didn't feel like she had a chance with that boy. Thing is he noticed her too. Now, with Abby widowed and Colton very available, they meet under less than great circumstances. But Colton believes in second chances and he's on it.

I love this guy. Colton likes what he sees and hates that Abby doesn't see herself the way he does. He's on a mission to help her get it. And he's determined to protect her.

Yep, someone's wants her out of the way. She saw something they didn't want her to and that's not a good thing. So there's a suspense element to this story and I loved that. It drove this story from their meeting to helping them see things how they are between them. Really added a little something to this novella.

Of course it's a JLA book so it's hot and sexy. Colton plays the gentleman only so long before he shows his skills. And talk about skills, yeah the guy has them.

And because it's a JLA book, it's well written with great characters. Of course, some of our favorite characters from the other books in this series make a brief appearance. I was very happy to meet Jillian and I'm thinking she may show up again in Brock's book (Fire In You). I loved her bookish ways and her shy self.

I read it in an afternoon and really enjoyed it. It was great to see a heroine that wasn't perfect, that doubted herself and yet figured out how to accept herself. Very nice.

This novella stand alone, so if you need an afternoon quickie, than this is a great one. It's also a must for those who have read the series. You'll love it.

My Thoughts:

Dream of You was a great novella, but I expected nothing less from one of my favorite authors! I was happy to get back in to the Wait for You Series. It's always such a great experience to revisit favorite characters.

Abby Erickson is leaving the date from hell when she witnesses a murder. The sexy Colton Anders is one of the detectives on the case. Abby had a huge crush on him in high school, but didn't think he noticed her. Now that Abby's life is in danger, Colton is keeping a close eye on her. He also makes his attraction and interest towards her known. However, Abby cannot begin to comprehend how such a gorgeous and sexy man could be interested in her...

Dream of You was a very entertaining, sexy, and sweet story. I enjoyed Abby's character. She was down to earth, and easy to relate to. She had some issue's with self-esteem, and didn't feel beautiful or attractive enough for Colton. I appreciated Ms. Armentrout giving her readers a woman with curves, and the typical insecurities that most woman face.

Colton Anders was downright scrumptious! He was sweet, attentive, gentle, and made me swoon over and over again. When he saw Abby, he saw beauty, and he made it his mission to make her see what he did.

The suspense of the plot was an added bonus, as was being reunited with Reese and Roxy from, Fall With Me. We even get a little bit of Jax and Calla, and I loved the interactions between Abby and her good friend Jillian. These two loved reading, and discussing their favorite authors as well as attending book signings together, which I could relate to. It just so happened that many of Abby's favorite authors, are mine too!

My Rating:

I give, Dream of You, by Jennifer L. Armentrout, 4.5 Decadent Kisses, Consuming Desires, Second Chance at Love Filled Stars! All of you readers who love the Wait for You series will love getting Colton's story! He is just as dreamy as Reese, and I look forward to learning more about him and Abby in future installments of the Wait for You series.

Who could ever turn away a Jennifer L. Armentrout romance? Certainly not me! Sweet, sexy, and romantic, this Wait for You novella simply enchanted me. I don't think I've ever related so much to a character, as I did with Abby Erickson. Her Happily Ever Afters lives in the books she reads. After dealing with so much loss in the past, she never expected to find one of her very own. Could Colton Anders really be her dream come true?

I can appreciate the author addressing self-esteem and self-confidence issues with her female lead. I rarely find that in the romance genre today, and I feel there needs to be more of it. You have to learn to love yourself, flaws and all, and in doing so, you can shut that ugly voice up in your head for good. The gorgeous Colton Anders forces Abby to take a deeper look and see what he sees, a beautiful person, a caring person, a person he will do anything for.

If you are brand new to this author, DREAM OF YOU gives you a great look at what great writing style and character development you can look forward to in her work. If you are a die-hard Armentrout fan, what you think you are going to get, you will get it and SO MUCH MORE! This quick and sexy novella packed a punch in the romance department, leaving me wanting more of the Anders brothers. Total SWOON ALERT ladies!

A feel good, sexy, and sweet romance that will leave you with a huge smile and fantastic dreams!

I'm finlly getting to this 2nd novella in the Wait for You series that I'm rereading with the Deity Island read-along group.

I love that I recognized Rick and Jillian more quickly this time around.

Previous read count: 1

***UPDATED***

I loved it all over again! I wish I had Abby's editing talents and even her tragic past. Her present got crazy overnight, but her new realizations about herself in addition to her developing love with caring, sexy and charming Colton made up for it.

A favorite Abby aha moment:
'I needed to tell Colton how I felt. It could be risky. Hell, it could scare him off, but the words were burning the tip of my tongue and twisting up my heart. And I wasn’t a coward.

Worst-case scenario, it was too soon and Colton ran for the hills, but if he didn’t feel the same way now, would it really change later?

It wasn’t like people couldn’t grow to love one another, but I was a firm believer that you knew pretty quickly if love was in the cards.'

Happiness is rereading and having the same moments ring true or tickle my funny bone. And sometimes discovering new ones. This is why the Wait for You series is one of my top favorite series.

This book Needs to be EYE Read.

Normally I say get the audiobook… not this time. I loved the story but not a fan of this narrator.
First I thought maybe it’s just me because I was used to another doing this series so I stopped it took a break and came back.
Nope just not a fan of this narrator she sounded like she was trying too hard to put emotion into her words.
Also, her male voice was meh.

Now the story was great, so I say buy the book and eye read it because it’s a great addition to this series.

I was intrigued about Reece’s brother Colt and he deserves a HEA. So does Abby, she has suffered so much loss. And now she is in danger after being witness to a crime.
Enter in Colton, swoony Colton. These two together make sense.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I actually had to stop reading Dream of You for a bit because it touched me very personally, and I needed to catch my breath and cry it out. This absolutely was the book I needed to read right now, and I really hope this book inspires many other writers to tackle similar topics. Excited to post a full review for the blog tour next week!

Review posted here.

You all know I adore Jennifer's Wait for You series, but honestly, other than the fact that Dream of You is a JLA novella, I didn't have a particular NEED to read it the way Fall With Me and Every Last Breath were/are I NEED THEM LIKE YESTERDAY. I liked Colton, sure, but I was okay with him just being a side character. So I went into Dream of You with very few expectations, and honestly, that blank slate state of mind can be the best way to go into a book. I was completely blind-sided by how much Dream of You, specifically Abby's internal character arc, spoke to me. I was so overwhelmed by my emotions while reading Abby's story that I had to put my phone down (it's on my Kindle app) to cry. I do have a bleeding heart, and I also do tend to relate to some aspect of the books I read....but never, NEVER have I read a book at the exact moment I needed to read it without knowing.

Plot-wise, I thought Dream of You was fairly similar to Fall With Me. Like Roxy, Abby is in some serious trouble of the deadly kind and is also going through some personal issues. In Roxy's case, it was wondering about her future and her best friend; in Abby's case...well, we'll get to that. And rescuing our damsel in distress is a sexy Anders brother, but this time is the surprisingly simple older brother Colton. I say simple because Reece also has some personal demons in Fall, but Colton is probably the most easy-going guy in the entire series, despite his intense job as a police detective, and I really appreciate that. I love that there's a guy who knows what he wants and just...GOES for it. He's so straight-forward. No games. No bullshit. Done. I like that because he and Abby have both done serious long-term relationships so it makes sense that they don't have to play all the games it feels like you do the first time around.

The thing was, Colton was confident and self-assured, maybe even a little cocky, but he wasn't arrogant. He was like a unicorn. (DRC, 48%)

Now for Abby. Oh, boy, do I love Abby. I love her because she's so...normal. She's a regular girl on a bad date and then her life gets all crazy, but most of all: normal. And part of that normalcy means Abby embodies, if not all, then quite a few of the significant fears and insecurities I have in my own life, and that's what hit me so hard when I read Dream of You. For instance, THIS:

I'd never thought of myself as someone who had self-esteem issues. I had my body hang-ups, like any normal woman, but the lack of intimacy and the reintroduction of it shined a really harsh light on the way I viewed myself, on how unconnected I was with my own body. (DRC, 55%)

Uh, watch where you're dropping those truth bombs, Jen, because that's hitting it a little too close. And then also this:

"It wasn't like I never wanted to fall in love again. I had hoped that I would, but it wasn't something I had imagined happening in a long time. For one thing, I really didn't put myself out there to even meet anyone. To do that, I'd actually have to go out more often." (DRC, 55%)

*chin wibble*

Even in a book which would be considered primarily a "trashy romance" or "chick lit" as I'm sure all those obnoxiously high-brow readers and critics would call Dream of You, Jen manages not only a deeply intense internal character arc but one that hits on very real and terrifying fears of mine and I'm sure many other women as well. Bonus points for the feminist part about needing the strength to come from yourself. There are so many days when I almost tweet out that I need an emotional boost from my friends and followers on Twitter, but I almost always stop myself because even when other people tweet me nice things.... it doesn't mean much if I don't believe it myself. It's amazing that Abby recognizes that. Colton is a great guy, but if Abby doesn't ever believe she's beautiful, she'll always think he's "just saying" nice things instead of meaning them. That's not a good foundation for a relationship and it's not a healthy mental place either.

And yet, I like that while Abby is having these emotional eureka moments about how there are worse things than confidence issues, in NO WAY are these issues trivialized. I think that's very important. Too often people try to downsize another person's conflict....but why? Yes, we all laugh about how Hermione once mentions that being expelled is worse than being dead, but school (especially HOGWARTS of all places!) is important to her. Why do we have to tear her down for her priorities? Abby is quite literally fighting for her life during certain scenes in Dream of You, but I still think she's allowed to worry about her stomach and her thighs. Are there "worse" things like possibly dying or having a cinder block thrown through her window? Yes, but to Abby, her body issues are also a major conflict in addition to the bad guys threatening her every move. I love this play of internal and external conflict and the differences between them. It's not always about just one or the other; not only can you have both, but sometimes even a seemingly trivial internal conflict can take over your life until you're not really living anymore AND it will happen with a gentle slide you don't even notice. This, more than anything else, is what hit me so hard. I don't have people trying to kill me, but my own mind plays these cruel tricks that affect me in a different kind of life-threatening manner.

So thank you, Jen. Thank you for writing the book I really needed. Thank you for giving a voice to a different kind of conflict. Thank you for writing a character in whom I can recognize myself. Thank you thank you thank you. (also thank you for Colton's abs because those are important too)

Oh, and bonus point #1: Publishing info. Jen has written it all: traditional, small pub, indie, and Dream of You, through editor Abby, has tons of interesting and helpful hints about the biz we all love.

Bonus point #2: I LOVE when authors love each other, and it's pretty cool that Jen name-drops her friends in Dream of You for Abby's clients. That definitely put a smile on my face!

"Śnij o mnie" to dodatek do serii romansów Zaczekaj Na Mnie Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Myślę, że jeśli ktoś szuka książki z wątkiem romantycznym, którą pochłonie w jeden wieczór, to "Śnij o mnie" będzie idealnym wyborem.
