The darkness spreads across Chrysanthemum, destroying everything and anything within its sight. Safe inside the rock walls of Gardenia, Princess Mor of the faire folk fights her own demons after choosing the long-lost Great Queen’s name. As the nightmares and visions begin, she meets pixie Michael.

Despite her inability to trust Michael, they team up to find the reason behind the darkness to end it once and for all. More than just darkness looms over Mor as a battle may be in her future, and she must be prepared. But she needs to be prepared for much more, as she realizes there is more than meets the eye in Chrysanthemum.

On the morning of her naming ceremony, the 16-year-old princess finds a gift in the form of a necklace. Thinking nothing more of it than a present, she puts it on. When asked what name she chooses, she gives the only one she can, Morrigan, the name of the Great, Lost Queen. Unfortunately, it is also the only name that is forbidden, but once said it cannot be changed. In compromise, she is called Mor. From that moment on, strange things begin to happen; nightmares, visions, disappearances across Chrysanthemum, and knowledge with no proof. Can Mor discover what is behind the disappearances? More importantly, can she find the Great Queen to help save them?

Michael was reborn as a Pixie. What he and few others know though, is that if he was reborn, that means his soulmate, Morrigan, has also been reborn. And if she has been reborn the prophecy has been put in motion, war is coming, and the end of all Faire kind as they know it is imminent. Can Michael find his lost love and help stop the war?

Getting the opportunity to read this has been extra special because it means that an old friend was able to achieve one of her dreams of becoming a published author and I couldn't be happier for her. I remember hearing Kitty talk about these characters when we were in school and she was typing on her typewriter. I remember her excitement as she tried to explain her vision to me. Overall I really enjoyed the story, it's the quickest I've read in a couple of months. The worldbuilding and characters are strong and relatable. The ending alludes to a sequel and I will be very excited to reenter the world of Chrysanthemum.

Amazingly written

The world building was done so well. For being the authors first book, it is perfect. I loved the characters and the story line was brilliant. I can’t wait to read more of her work.
