This one was cute. Very cute. A bit too cute at some parts, but still not unbearable. There were parts that I think was a bit too much, but overall not bad at all.

It read a bit like a fanfic, but not necessarily in a bad way. Just that dreamy way, meeting your idol and getting the chance to get to know them, finding your way to something deeper. Unrealistic, but still the kind of trope you can never really get enough of.

The characters were sweet, layered, and felt (mostly) believable. The way they found each other and learned to see each other's signs of when they weren't okay was really sweet and when they finally (Chase, mainly) admitted their feelings for each other it was just.. perfectly paced. I liked that.

However, as a dog trainer, I need to get said that calling a labrador/poodle mix a "smart breed"? Nope. Absolutely not. It is not a breed. Most of them ARE wonderful, but it is not a breed and you cannot give them general traits, because that's not how breeding dogs work. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. It's not actually important for the story, the dog is super sweet and I adore Brandon for adopting her. More adoption dogs, please! Love that.

Anyway. The ending had me conflicted. I loved the boldness of Chase and how it hints that he and Brandon will have their happily ever after. Not thrilled about Victor's open ending, though. I think he deserved better. He was a bit of work, but he was also afraid. I think he deserved more. Chase and Brandon, though? LOVE how brave Chase was, and I so hope they will be happy together in the future.

Buuuut if this is going to be a series, maybe there's a chance for more Victor in the future? I certainly hope so!

So overall. Very solid read. Definitely worth a chance if you want to feel all happy and giddy inside. It had a nice balance between sweetness and angst and until those last lines the ending had me grinning of happiness for our boys!

I received a complimentary copy of this book for free. All opinions are my own.

Finding the missing pieces

This is such a sweet romance. Both of these boys needed each other. They both needed to be seen and understood.

Chase may be famous but he was holding onto a fling that wasn't giving him what he needed. He just couldn't see it for what it was.

Brandon is absolutely in love with the bands music and Chase's solo written song speak to him even if it's different from the bands normal. Brandon has avoided getting involved since his last boyfriend.

Their first meeting did not go the way Brandon hoped but he definitely gets a second chance to make an impression and that moment is beautiful. Brandon is such an amazing character and they needed each other.

I absolutely loved this book. I devoured it in one day, because I couldn't put it down (RIP my to-do list, darn). Brandon and Chase have a meet cute when Brandon almost hits Chase with his car. What ensues is Brandon's dream, as he's had a crush on Chase for a long time. Once the guys spend time together, each develop genuine feelings for the other. This is definitely a fluffy, feel good kind of story. However, it still has a plot that kept me invested. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, and can't wait for the subsequent books!

I had the distinct pleasure of an early read thanks to the author.
Annabel den Dekker definitely has a way with romance. She is able to make the tenderness jump right off of the pages, drawing you in to the lives of her characters.
The emotional exchanges between both Chase and Brandon(idolizing a pop star and then getting to live out your romantic fantasy? Yes please) and Brandon and his bestie define Brandon’s character in ways that words alone cannot. I think I’ve fallen in “friend” love for the first time
And then he adopts Rosie! I always love the four-legged characters.
I waffled between a 4.5 and a 5 for this book. I wanted to know a bit more about why Brandon was so willing to pass up on the opportunity to love. I believe that Maarten is the reason. It is not Maarten’s story - I know that! We don’t have time for Maarten’s story / I know that! Selfishly, I want Maarten’s story.

“I was chasing sunshine ‘til I found you.”

Chase and Brandon’s story was so sweet and healing journey for each of them. Brandon is such a sunshine and you can’t help but smile at his enthusiasm. He is a big fan of boy band The Spectrum where Chase is one of the singers. Chase has grumpy tendencies and it has more to do with him trying not to lose himself not only in the music but in his identity as well. When Brandon goes to meet and greet Chase is not as welcoming as he could have been, which leaves Brandon feeling underwhelmed. After the concert they have a second meeting chance and Brandon is there for him and it is the start of their friendship. Chase is reeling from his relationship with Victor, Brandon has his own issues he has choosen to keep to himself. Most of the story is the growth of their friendship and how it naturally grows and presents itself as love. Very sweet some emotional moments and I cannot wait for the next story of this series.

🎼Looks like your life altering moment just started.
🎼He had bared his soul, and they hadn’t even noticed.
🎼Maybe their worlds didn’t align, but if Brandon was willing to try and make them collide, then so was he.
🎼He’d given back a part of himself that had been taken away.

This might just be my favorite from Annabel yet! (If only she hadn't written Just Like Christmas 🤭😉) Chase and Brandon are the perfect example of 'if he wanted to he would' and I absolutely love that. Offering a stranger a place to stay just because? Risking your career for the one you love? Swoon!

The story is full of soft, tender moments and scenes that feel real. Any book with the famous/fan trope is a book that calls to me and Stay With Me hits all the spots!

Both of them walk around with burdens, heavy on both their personal lives but also on the relationships they form. It's sweet to see how they deal with their own traumas, but also how they help each other by overcoming/managing them. The dynamic felt open, honest and left me wanting more! 💛

Stay With Me is a perfect summer read! ☀️ I can't wait to see what the other boys (in the band) have in store!

The Boys In The Band series
#1 Stay with Me
Annabel has written a beautifully emotive start to this new rock star series.
Stay With Me is set in the world of The Spectrum as they tour Europe. We are introduced to the band members, but this story focuses on Chase Logan.

Brandon is a superfan, and his first face-to-face meeting with his idol Chase was so endearing.
Their story is full of heart and about following your dreams. There are angsty moments that delve into the difficulties of being true to your nature when you're forced to be what others expect from you.

Brandon and Chase were so good and right for each other, and I loved how their relationship grew into one of trust.
Brandon had an amazing bestie in Emma... and it's only fitting that Rosie gets a mention too.

Such a joyful, compassionate, and tender story that brought me so much pleasure.

It's a light read and oh so warmly written. Reading this book felt, quite fittingly, like sunshine wrapping around you on a nice summer evening ☀️
I could truly feel the emotions the boys felt and was rooting for them while their relationship slowly developed from fan to friend to lover.

I cannot wait to read more about the other boys and I know Brandon and Chase will pop up then too 🥰
A little side note, the epilogue broke my heart though 😭

I’ve just finished reading the last few lines of ‘Stay With Me’ by Annabel den Dekker and just had to put pen to paper. This beautifully written and sensitive love story between Chase and Brandon gave me the tonic I so desperately needed. The author utterly captivated me, weaving a tale of a couple’s poignant journey of self-discovery, their healing from within, and ultimately, the powerful resonance of their authentic voices. Chase is a pop star in ‘The Spectrum’, an internationally acclaimed boy band, whose concerts are filled with a frenzy of screaming fans and flashing lights. Brendan works at a holiday park. And without wanting to spoil this stunning plot, a chance meeting leads to a dramatic collision between these two incredibly different worlds. Though a love story, the author fearlessly explores the depths of loss, the societal strain of conforming to hetero-normative expectations, and the insecurities surrounding body image. It’s hard to pick a favourite part; there are just too many. Reading the scene where Chase sought comfort from his mother brought tears to my eyes, connecting deeply with my experience as a parent. The phrase ‘Chase let her words sink in, the silence stretching just long enough for his heart to catch up’ is a testament to the author’s skill, poignantly written, and just one of many in the novel. Vivid descriptions painted a picture in my mind, the immersive dialogue felt so real, the rounded characters had depth, and the beautifully balanced plot gave me everything I needed. It’s an easy five-star review from me. ‘Stay with Me’ will be one of those novels that will leave an indelible mark on my heart, and will ‘stay with me’ forever.

Chase and Brandon completely stole my heart. Their story is soft, emotional and so full of love that it made me smile and tear up at the same time. The boy band setting brought so much fun and excitement, but what I loved most was how their friendship slowly turned into something deeper. Every little glance, every quiet moment between them felt magical.
Annabel’s writing is so warm and heartfelt, it made me feel like I was right there with them — backstage, on tour, and in those late-night talks that change everything. The mental health representation was beautiful and real, making their connection even more meaningful. This book has music, love, healing and the kind of found family that makes you believe in happy endings. I didn’t want it to end because Chase and Brandon’s love felt like the safest place in the world.
Thank you so much Annabel den Dekker for the free ARC!

I got to read Stay With Me as an advance copy, and it’s such an emotional, character-focused romance that stuck with me well after I finished. Annabel den Dekker does a great job exploring self-discovery, societal pressure, and identity, and the characters feel warm and real.

I really enjoyed the depth of the story, but the middle part slowed down a bit, and I think a touch more tension would’ve kept things moving, and than I might have given it a 5-star review. Still, it’s heartfelt, sincere, and an easy 4-star read for me. I’m glad I got the chance to read it early and can’t wait to see what she writes next.

This book was so so beautiful 🥹 and gave me so many feelings

This story is not only a story about love for each other and the acknowledgement of that love, but about getting out of what they know and discover their complete selfs and love and heal themselves.

Love how Brandon and Chase meet, Brandon energy and how it matches so well with Chase. Bella created such amazing characters, you can't just not love them.

This book shows such emotion you can feel how they feel and seeing them being volnurable and how they handle it as they go and show support for each other really makes it a wonderful journey to read about and with such a beautiful ending 😍

I just can't wait to get to know more of all these characters.

This was my first time reading Annabel’s books. It’s not my typical read because I love my smut. But I can also appreciate a sweet, fluffy love.

I love how Brandon was Chase’s safe haven to be himself. He helped him understand that it was ok to not be ok and that was ok too.

I’m glad Chase was able to find someone to love the real him. Not the famous person but the person behind the glitz and glamour.

At first I identified with Brandon; with Chase being a famous artist, which I am not. However, at the end of the book I suddenly realised Chase had become so much more relatable during the second half of the book.

Especially the last part of the book was incredibly wholesome, and I cannot wait to read more about the 'Spectrumverse'!

Such. An. INCREDIBLE. Read! I absolutely adored this book! There is just something about the way Annabel writes love in a tender and believable way that just gets me.

It’s was really cool to see a character not from America as a main character. Always fun adding that to a story and I like how it was utilized in the main plot.

Chase and Brandon were so cute. I love how both their past hard ships seem to heal the other without even knowing. Brandon has his sweet “sunshine” to compensate for a past lost love, allowing Chase to see a partner with no motive besides loving him. On the other end Chase has passions and finds the joys in Brandon’s life that he lacks to see in his stardom, allowing Brandon to share his “simple” life with him.

Overall, such a great read!

It's no secret I'm a huge fan of miss Dekker. I've read everything she's published and have loved every single piece. Stay With Me is no exception.

Her writing style is so easy to read but has enough depth to keep you engrossed in her words. It's fast paced with characters who are so sweet with such a tender romance at the heart of the story.

The emotional details highlighted throughout the book make you really fall in love with each character. I'm excited this is the start of a new series and can't wait to get to know the other boys better.

If you love sweet & tender romances, definitely pick this one up.

Stay With Me is a contemporary MM romance from Annabel den Dekker. I’ve read a few books from this author now and she never fails to create sweet romances where the pages turn easily.
Brandon, after going to a concert with his best friend Emma, meets his favourite musician Chase purely by coincidence. The two begin a friendship, Brandon getting to live out his fantasy of knowing Chase and being close to his celebrity crush.

I absolutely love this premise! I think den Dekker handles things fairly realistically. Fame isn’t something innately good for the human condition, in my opinion, and Chase is written with a lot of baggage. Brandon has his own of course – we all do, however, the impact social media and pressures of fame, are shown to have a deep, understandable, effect on Chase’s mental health. The romance and story builds at a steady pace too, allowing time for both reflection and fun.
I did think when reading that, if I’d read this book three years ago, I’d have found the ‘famous person can’t come out publicly’ trope a little dated. But right now, with the media in the US and UK demonising queer folk and rights being rolled back, it is a reflection on how we are backtracking and need to stand up now before it is too late.

"Stay with me" is a very sweet contemporary romance between,a member of a boy band, Chase, and one of his fans, Brandon.
I really liked how slow the romance was. Chase and Brandon first became friends and then their friendship grew into a beautiful romance. There were some angsty scenes in the book but they were necessary to help the characters grow and the hurt/comfort moments melted my heart.
I liked both Chase and Brandon, they were wonderful and complex characters that felt very realistic and relatable and I loved them together.
I'm looking forward to read more books in the series. I can't wait for Victor's book.
