She’s three months from her first shift… and one decision away from losing everything.
Cleo is supposed to be preparing to take her place as the next Alpha. Instead, she’s dragged to an Alpha meeting full of power-hungry wolves and forced to play nice for her father’s political gain.
That’s when she meets Alpha Zayn—cold, commanding, and the one man guaranteed to enrage her father. He’s her pack’s greatest rival… and the wolf who saves her life when Rogues attack the Venue where the meeting is held.
Now Cleo owes him a debt and when her father pulls pack protection and leaves her exposed, she makes a dangerous move. She turns to Zayn for help.
What starts as a forbidden alliance spirals into something darker. Hotter.
Impossible to ignore. Living a double life, sneaking across borders, hiding her connection to a man her father despises, Cleo knows she’s playing with fire.
What she doesn’t know is that Zayn is hiding a secret that could change everything.
She’s not just a girl he wants.
She’s his fated mate.
When her father offers her hand in marriage to a rival Alpha, Cleo faces an impossible reclaim her title and betray her heart, or lose everything she’s ever known for the one wolf who would tear the world apart for her.
This started off pretty good and the MMC screamed green flags. He was so good to her, and being the older and mature (traditional) wolf who was quite secretly a romantic, Zayn wanted to hold off from sleeping with Chloe until she got her wolf.
CHLOE would be the annoying bane of everyone's existence. I didn't believe the reviews at first, and now I understand why. She was great at the beginning, until she just turned into a walking mess with shit for brains.
ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. If she can't figure out why a full-grown Alpha Male would go to the ends of the Earth for her, then she's real dumb. Naturally, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt seeing how young (19 yrs) she was, but wow, with the amount of trust and affection that Zayn has been giving her - unconditional - by the way...I can't take it any longer.
When she started doubting everything he did and allowed her stupidity to take control, I called it quits. Also, the story was a bit too long.
Storylinenstarts strong and interesting but needs another review. Lots of repetitions of words *he watched/will watch me line a hawk" twice in a page. Also mfc was not as strong amd initially presented, then was week I general. Lots of plot hols and confusing aspects to it. Was a fun binge read.
Jessica Hall got me back into reading a few years ago, and I’ve read and enjoyed her whole catalogue. I’m not sure if i’ve grown to expect more as a reader or if this one was just a mess. either way, this wasn’t a fun time.
Jessica does it again, fantastic story line with great depth of characters and plot twists which keep you gripped from start to finish. Can’t wait for Vance’s and Maya’s story next.
I am outright obsessed. I ate this book up in one setting. Kept me on the edge of my seat with so many twists and turns. So dang, good. Can't wait for the next book.
