A great sickness has washed over the world, and the only man who can stop it is the one man Ella truly hates. Lord Alec has taken out his twisted, sexual desires on her time and time again, and left his mark forever etched into her flesh. Though she has lost everything to him, she finds she must rely on him to save the world.
Dragged along on a crusade of faith, she is used against her will. Ella must wrestle with her conflicted emotions and deal with overwhelming loss. But when he threatens to gain control of everything, will she be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice? Find out, in FORBIDDEN!
I realize this series will not be for everyone. With the typos, grammar mistakes, constantly switching POVs, and with the crazy level of abuse that Ella goes through, I can see why people would not like this type of story. I know this will not be everyone's cup of tea. With that being said, I really enjoyed reading this book. I read it in less than 24 hours. Does it have a lot of problems? Yes, however the writing style is so addictive that I couldn't help staying up to 2 am on weekday to see what happened between Ella and Alec.
The violence gets maxed out in this second book, so the same trigger warnings apply: r@pe and domestic violence (among other things). I mainly read this bc I wanted to see if Ella ends up mercing Alec at some point or if Ella gets away from him. I also wanted to see what crazy thing Alec did next. The guy somehow kept surprising me even in this book in regards to the levels of craziness and darkness he would go to in order to keep Ella.
This book mainly builds up to book 3 "Desire", which by the way is total insanity. It takes the saying "Well that escalated quickly" to another level. Not much happens in book 2, but again it is there mainly to provide depth to Alec and his cronies (like a dark depth, but it's there). I actually appreciated the authors giving Alec, Adaline and Willard backstories since it helped me understand why they were such crap people. The authors do this in a way to not make the reader sympathetic towards them, but it makes the reader get a good understanding of their personalities.
This may be a spoiler, but if you are looking for Alec and Ella to develop a semi or fully consensual relationship, know that it doesn't happen in this book nor in the 3rd one. I get it though, Alec is a BAD dude and does totally irredeemable things to Ella, she shouldn't fall for him.
This book was even worse than the 1st. It was just a story of continual rape and abuse. It wasn't even like the main leads developed feeling for each other. It was just abuse over and over and then the lighting strike at the end. This story could have been done so much better. The author had potential but I just didn't like the story at all.
