Dr Jim Smith is not happy living in the AI Generated utopia the Commonwealth had become.
When cracks begin to appear in the perfect society, Jim is eager to investigate. But when he is kidnapped, has he taken a step too far?
Jacob Brown has been a loyal servant of the Commonwealth for years, so when Jim disappears it is he who is sent to find the missing doctor.
But when Jacob's search reveals evidence of Jim's collusion with the enemy he doesn't know who to trust.
Amelia, as an AI simulant, still feels guilty for not revealing her true identity to Jim before they were married. She hopes that encouraging him to pursue the enemies of the Commonwealth will give him a new sense of purpose, but has she just sent the Commonwealth on a path to its own destruction.
When Jacob discovers Jim in a fortress in the Caucasian Mountains the truth is revealed about Jim's past and the origins of the AI stimulants.
Can the enemies of the Commonwealth be stopped or will the new society they have strived to create dissolve into chaos?
Abundance is the fifth and final book in M J Dees' dystopian series, Collapse, and can be enjoyed as a stand alone novel or as the dramatic culmination of the series.
At a time when Artificial Intelligence is on everyone's lips and in everyone's thoughts, the author proposes a debate on the ethics of using AI. How? Through a dynamic and dramatic story, like a war diary. Because the story begins with a country in crisis, fighting an unseen enemy. The adventure of those who try to neutralize the disaster that threatens the entire world takes them far from their homeland. The epic ending is as good as the action and... But I don't want to spoil the surprise for the reader.
Personally, I liked the foray into Jim Smith's past, written with sensitivity and humanism. It's about a man who receives more than he can bear.
Good story This was a good story, a bit hard for me to follow, as I had not read the previous books in this series. This is a hard AI story that begins in the middle of major fighting issues. Thank you, M J Dees, for a good book. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest review.
A really good fifth part to this intense & exciting series! Fast paced, high tension moments, a well written apocalyptic adventure, a good continuation of the series! I do recommend!
