Chyra, a lone, voluptuous elf, has embarked on a journey to avenge the party of adventurers she once belonged to. Her quest will be perilous, fraught with dragons, monsters, dungeons, and sex, as she fights her way through a richly detailed world. This Gold Compendium collects novellas 1-5 of the popular fantasy series into a single volume, complete with cover artwork, appendices, and interior art. Mature content. Mildly recommended for a male audience. Contains over 30 photo illustrations.
This book (collection) is what came up while searching online during a boring Fantasy RPG session:) Sounded like fun so I thought I would give it a try. Very surprised here as this turned out to be way better than I expected.
The author obviously started out just writing a fantasy sex short story as the first 'book' is only 41 pages. But the books get longer as the series progresses and the author does some decent world building and develops an intriguing overall story arc. As the books get longer, the number of pages of sex stays about the same so the rest becomes, surprisingly, story. The books are e-book only and they are hyperlinked with key words that open up to pages like encyclopedia entries. Among these are detail of the world, flora, fauna and history. Some of these also list possible random encounters at that location and thus read a bit like a game module. Also hyperlinked are a small number of black and white photographs of various scenes is the story. These have been decently photo-shopped to add fantasy backgrounds etc. (The same model was used for these as for the cover photos.) This is the first time I have came across an author who spent time and money to hire a professional model to help bring their work to life for more than just a cover picture.
It's not the best, but not the worst either. 2.5 to 3 stars, but I'm going to give it an extra star for the author's creativity in using the e-book only hyperlinking, world building and photographs. One thing I think the books really, really need is a map to put all the world background together.
FYI - this collection of books 1-5 is cheaper than buying them individually.
Ok, so hear me out - this has become a guilty pleasure. I read the first one for a laugh and then returned for more. Is this great literature? Not at all. It is, however, a bit interesting now that some semblance of a plot has developed.
After some introspection, perhaps I'm too into Tolkien and D&D that Elf sex has become a kink? Someone should have foreseen this being a thing.
If you grew up in the late 80 - 90 and played D&D with a hot elf and the encounters were randomly fight or fuck. Actually a decent story, from a fantasy perspective.
Lone female elf, last survivor of her adventuring group and she is trying to destroy a cursed sword. Anyone wielding the sword directly is taken over by a demon that burn out their body in a matter of minutes.
This is the first 5 books in the series with each book becoming a bit longer and better written.
