At first, it was the title that caught my attention. The wordplay in 미묘한 메모의 묘미 was so creative and fun that I couldn’t resist picking it up. As someone who has been writing memos, diaries, and journals for most of my life, I was naturally curious to see how another person approaches note-taking and what it means to them. This book is about the author’s experiments with different types of apps, pens, papers, and note-taking systems. He explores what each tool offers, the pros and cons, and how the smallest choices such as the weight of paper or the feel of a certain pen can change the experience of writing. It focuses on the details that only someone who truly pays attention to the act of documenting would notice. What people do sustainably and develop over time is what interests me the most. I guess I wanted to see what the outcome would be if I persist in doing the things I do right now. The book itself is very light and not serious at all, which made me enjoy it even more. It reminded me that there doesn’t always have to be a grand purpose behind everything. Sometimes the quiet act of writing, just for yourself, is more than enough.
If you're interested in documenting and you're looking for some advice, I would highly recommend. The book was great, but note-taking and journaling are a very niche-based topic, so I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.
