Night was when the subconscious wandered. Sometimes it wandered into the path of a passing demon...

Britt Grayling is a 24 year old graduate student whose life, while not the stuff of legend, is comfortable and predictable. This peace comes to an end one night when she unwittingly attracts the attention of a hungry incubus. Far from being terrified, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to this mysterious creature.

Damian has been visiting sin and corruption on the unsuspecting for time immemorial, yet nothing has prepared him for his response to this woman. While Damian’s attentions awaken in Britt both dread and arousal – the two main ingredients in a demon’s sustenance – he finds himself uncharacteristically unable to feed from her. In all of his centuries, Damian has never found himself in this position.

Something is very wrong.

It soon becomes clear that their chance meeting has consequences that neither Britt nor Damian could have anticipated. As their lives quickly unravel, they come to realize that the cost of deliverance may be more than either of them are willing to pay.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and it was quite an intriguing read! Demon erotica? Well, sure... why not!

A reader might expect a smokin' hot single guy to have a few secrets, but the ability to shimmer his way into glowing eyes, ebony horns and a tail? Feeding habits that don't exactly involve a trip to the supermarket? That's all a bit much for even the most open-minded of college women to handle. Damian and Britt work through it with the help of Kat, Damian's sexy but platonic BFF of six or seven centuries.

Myriad "18 and older" erotica scenes are well crafted, steamy, and inventive (the tail of a demon lends itself to possibilities inconceivable in the romantic interludes of mere mortals...). Just as importantly, these scenes are not gratuitous, but instead are framed within a well developed storyline.

I'd like to see a hair more development of side storylines for that elusive fifth star - juicy bits about Britt's grad school girlfriends, her relationship with her parents, or perhaps a few more details about Damian's backstory with his Master. I'm excited to see that Incubus is part of a series, and optimistic that a few of these details might reveal themselves in future books.

K.T. McColl has created a convert. I am looking forward to including additional books of McColl's demon erotica in my reading rotation!

At the first glance the book is about lust and guilty pleasures, but, under the erotic layer there is a haunted world that wants to be taken into consideration. It is so embedded into our lives that, at times, you don’t know where the human part ends and the evil one starts; you don’t know what to like and what to avoid, as the author explores the fine distinction between good and evil, both having their place in any of us.
The first encounter with the ‘evil’ succubus was interesting, but went too fast and too far, narrowing the reader’s expectation. At the other side, the book should have ended when Britt took the decision to leave the incubus/succubus’ nest.
In the end, my understanding of this book can be summed up with two quotes, both coming from Damian, the incubus:
“Our teeny capacity to lead folks astray is nothing compared to what humanity is capable of doing all by itself without any help from us.”
And: “Sometimes it was a wonder that his (evil) master needed the likes of Damian at all.”
Well, if a demon designed to spread the evil thinks of him being useless in our world…

I received the book from the author.

*In exchange of an honest review*

Starting this, I had no idea where this book will exactly take me. Of course I’ve read about Incubi and their business earlier and hence I expected a little hostility or gore or possession or something evil- the way we normally think about demons. But tell you what this is one sweet and sexy book and the characters are just so adorable that you can keep thinking about them long after you finish reading. For demons, Damien and Kat are way too cute. Erotic scenes are sensually portrayed with author’s beautiful writing and come live across my eyes and that’s the reason I couldn’t read it, while on metro. So I just snuggled up with this book on my couch and enjoyed each moment of it.

To brief the story, Britt, a college girl unconsciously invites an Incubus one night and the next of her days get complicated in where she discovers a truth about her. The ending is exciting and just when things started to materialise between a mortal and Incubus, the book ends, perhaps my only criticism to the book. Maybe the next book will slake my desires.

Final Words: Wonderful, feel good book with angelic demons. Recommended to everyone with interest in erotica, and dark themes.

Oddly enough, I started this series at Book 4, so had to come back and see where it began. The author has once again delivered a steamy tale that is both easy to read, and shows the reader an intriguing take on our modern social scene.
The sex was well portrayed, not to timid, but well clear of the gutter. The story and characters also had enough attention given to them to keep me engrossed to the end.

I think I will definitely pick up another work by KT in the future. I believe her novels somehow give balance to my reading.

This was a truly interesting read. It wasn't what I expected, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. When I think of paranormal erotica, I don't normally think of something cerebral, but this story was just that. It was a surprisingly heady tale, a philosophical novel with main characters that just so happened to be an incubus and a succubus (and a human).

Reading this book, it became clear to me off the bat that K.T. McColl is a polished writer who writes with a sophisticated style. I later learned that she spent many years as a technical writer. In this story, she humanized her demons, making them more like people than monsters. I found the pacing to be slow at times, and personally I was wanting more action due to it being paranormal. But it's still a solidly written novel, and others may not find the pacing a problem. I recommend this one for people who like erotica that's a little different, that gives them something to ponder.

Eloquent and steamy hot, this demon tale is well written with a smattering of humour, peril, and impossible love. Yes there are some very steamy sex scenes, including mostly M/F, but there is also one each of F/F and F/M/F and they are an integral part of a compelling story.
The heroine Britt is feisty and likeable, and I had to laugh out loud at her trying to find a suitable word to be on the receiving end of a very talented incubus mouth. The hero, Damian is just what a incubus should be, very very sexy but with a surprisingly soft heart for a demon.
The book has a definite conclusion, but leaves you wondering what happens to the third main character, Damien's best friend a succubus called Kat, whose heart is far bigger that a demoness should possess. Book 2 looks like it's her story.
I thoroughly enjoyed incubus (Demonsong 1), and I'll be looking up the rest in the series.

I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review. The story follows a graduate student, Britt, who finds herself as the willing recipient of an incubus's, Damian's, attentions due her current unsatisfactory state in life but this attention has unforeseen consequences. I honestly expected sex to drive the story more having both an incubus and succubus in the story, but there was just enough and the scenes were very well done. What I really enjoyed as well was the touch of humor as Damian, Britt and Damian's partner Kat try to deal with what Damian did and how human, for lack of a better word, Damian and Kat were overall- experiencing confusion over love and trying to get emotions in order. I'll definitely be looking out for more books in this series and by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. You know things are going to be steamy when you have an incubus and a succubus in the story! The sex scenes were fantastic and left me wanting more. Britt was funny and likeable. While the story was pretty intense, there were smatterings of humor that literally had me laughing out loud. My one complaint would be that the explanation of the integral problem was lacking, as was what served as a remedy. How/why did that happen? How/why was that a solution? I'm hoping that some of this is answered in the next book as we follow Kat on an adventure. This was a great introduction to this author!

I enjoyed this book. I've never read anything with an incubus or a succubus, and this gave me both. I'd also never heard of a cambion, so I learned all sorts of new and interesting things. The storyline in the book was a real treat. I didn't expect the ending at all and I loved it! The steamy scenes were delivered well.

Our group, "Lovers of Paranormal", may have been wanting demons as per their halloween challenge. This book delivered that and so much more. It is a hot steamy read that I adored. Give this author some love and check them out!

I received a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review. This story was a sexy tale about a succubus, incubus and a human concubine. This story even entailed a f/f and a m/f/f scene.

I accepted a free copy of this book in exchange for my review. This isn't exactly my genre, but the author's worldbuilding made what was (for me) a very fresh take on an old monster/paranormal trope.

There are three main characters in the story: a human, a incubus, and a third one I won't reveal here (don't worry, you meet her soon enough). Hell is sort of a dangerous bureaucracy, where the poor earth-bound demons are trying to punch their clock and stay under the radar. This particular incubus prowls by night and has a woodworking hobby during the day! The mission of the incubus is centered around the temptation of mortals rather their outright violation, so their job description of "spreading evil" seems almost tame at first; however, there are references to demons who stray too far, and get into things they shouldn't, ultimately going insane and bringing chaos wherever they go. The demons in the story are "immortal" of course, in that they don't die due to the mere passage of time (they seem to measure their chronological age in centuries, though the absence of an aging process seems to make that academic except for their cultural outlook).

Of course, there's a lot of sex in the book, as appropriate for the genre. It's pleasant to see the author mix things up: there's some variety, but not so much that it becomes variety for its own sake. As the heroine, Britt, and the demons are all threatened by a sinister mystery that takes them all by surprise, the characters each learn a little bit more each chapter. These revelations are often (but not always) very close in time to the sex scenes, but there's enough variety to keep the reader guessing.

The character of the incubus is particularly interesting. He doesn't make the impression pop culture has led us to expect from incubi --- sometimes even coming off as rather passive. He's certainly just as confused as everyone else about what's going on.

The setting isn't explored very much, but that's okay. It's a college town, full of people who don't plan to live there more than a few years, and who are all pretty much wrapped up in themselves and their own plans. It serves its purpose admirably, without too much description or detail. I also liked the humor in the book. There wasn't buckets of it, but what there was was deployed thoughtfully and skillfully. (Some male readers may find Britt's mortal boyfriend reminds them a bit too much of themselves from their college years).

If I had to choose a part of this book I didn't care for, I suppose I'd have to go with the ending. The story seemed to wrap up too quick for me, and then take too long to end after all the conflict seemed to be over. I didn't see anything left unresolved that might lead to a sequel for this story.

I have no interest in erotica. I avoid it. I just find that intensely descriptive sexual activity slows down and gets in the way of the story. I’m far from prudish; it’s just not my scene …. man.

So, why am I reviewing Incubus, and why have I given it such a good rating? Well, for the first part of that question, I was asked to give an independent review and given a free copy to do so. For the second part, there is more than one answer. First of all it’s extremely well written. The pace, diction, speed and intensity are finely executed. The character development is great and, most importantly, it’s just a really good story. I engaged with Britt, the lead female character, as she struggles with the dichotomy of a powerful attraction to the demon of the title – is she just selling her soul to the devil for some very earthly pleasures, or is there more to it? But the story develops and becomes more dynamic than a simple tale of good and evil. There is some creative backstory (actually, I would have liked to have had more information about the demons’ – we meet more than one – history) and, whilst the legend of the Incubus and Succubus are a centuries old tradition, I enjoyed the modern day twists.

So, back to the sex. It still got in the way of the story for me, but it is, again, extremely well written. I think fans of this genre will rate this book very highly however, with the possible exception of your maiden aunt or your ten year old nephew, I think most people will enjoy this read.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is not a genre I normally read so please consider this while reading my review. What stands out for me with this story is the writing. The three main characters are well realized, the pacing is really good and the author does a great job handling the exposition especially considering how much there is. She also does a great job setting up an atmosphere and fluctuating between tones.

Where I had a bit of a problem was with the story itself. Though well realized, I found myself fairly detached from the characters and their blight. I had a hard time buying the primary romantic relationship. The book describes why the two characters care for each other but little was shown by their actions together that would suggest that the extreme sacrifices that were made were believable based on their relationship. By the end, I had felt a little empty and disinterested.

But again this isn't a genre I usually seek out so I have a hard time trying to sort out a suitable rating for the book. I think if you enjoy erotica literature with magical realism you'll find quite a bit to enjoy about this book. As for me, I've given this story a 3/5 because it is so well written.

If incubi are your favorite creatures than this is a book for your. Britt the hard working yet strangely unfulfilled and frustrated grad student unknowingly summons an incubi.

Damien a centuries old incubi prowling the night in search of sustenance from sleeping victims is unable to refuse Britt's sirens call.

Their stolen tryst has long reaching implications for both parties, pushing the boundaries sexually and emotionally. Risking centuries old friendships as well as their own lives. Only an invested succubus has the ability to save them.

KT McColl has written a well paced tale of forbidden love that is forbidden for a reason. Defying the nature of both species, they try and navigate the unchartered waters of their tumultuous relationship. She has a added a few special twists to keep the reader guessing the outcome and has captured sizzling love scenes with our main characters as well as our demons other victims.

Good Read!
