This isn’t a book about keeping rats; it’s a book about enjoying keeping rats. With quick makes and ideas for reusing and redefining everyday objects, plus step by step instructions for bigger projects, it’s a practical and inspirational illustrated guide to entertaining your pets and enriching their lives.
Annette's adventure into the world of colouring books for adults began with a book of imaginary butterflies, prompted by the memory of drawing them for her children to colour when they were young. This was followed by a book full of 'fanciful rats', the keeping and breeding of pet rats being Annette's ongoing pastime and passion. The Doodle Artist collection will continue with a mixture of topics, but with many featuring various small furry animals.
This is a book mainly about how to have fun with your pet rat. There are lots of ideas for making homemade toys out of toilet paper tubes and other such inexpensive items. There is also a pattern for a cute wearable rat sling-- we made two of them. The pattern alone is probably worth the price of the book.
Immediatly starts off with tips and ideas for your rat cage and how to make your pets happy. This isn't a care guide at all, its for example for what materials to use to make home made hammocks or use random items for their houses (eg.plastic bucket/plastic flowerpot) and other interesting tips. There are a few tips about feeding but it does not go into complete detail, its mostly examples. This breeder does have another rat book called rat care guide that has more indepth details on how to care for your rat which is also a good read. The only reason this idea sparking book is four starts not five is due to how short it is, wish for more content!
This is my go-to activity guide for my ratties. It is mostly pictures with instructions, which is great because most rat books you have to read 4 paragraphs of them describing the activity/toy and then don't have any pictures. It is a great idea guide for new rat owners and a quick reference source for people who have had rats before. So many great ideas in an easy to understand book.
Whether you want to use this visual book for inspiration or a step-by-step guide for affordable projects, the author provides easy instructions and plenty photos. Also, she dips into fun activity ideas, for example, pea fishing.
