Dumped by her fiancé and craving a fresh start, Vylette West retreats to the one place she swore she’d never return—her peculiar hometown of Driftwood Cove.
But instead of peace and quiet, she impulsively buys the town’s most haunted Briggs Manor, a crumbling estate with creaky floors, a ghostly sea captain who doesn’t believe in personal space… and a raven who talks back.
Now juggling home repairs and the launch of her new real estate agency, Vylette lands her first listing—the Henderson house, a property so steeped in ghostly gossip even the bravest buyers won’t touch it.
To make the sale, she’ll have to navigate cranky spirits, whispered secrets, and the suspicious stares of her not-so-welcoming neighbors—all while fending off Bas Matthews, a ruthless real estate mogul who’s made it his mission to drive her out of town.
If Vylette can sell a haunted house, dodge a shady rival, and keep her sass-mouth raven from live-tweeting her life mistakes… she might just survive Driftwood Cove’s real estate market—ghosts and all.
Welcome to Driftwood Cove—where the ghosts gossip, the raven judges you, and every listing has a skeleton in the closet.
A paranormal cozy mystery with hauntings, humor, and a raven that never shuts up.
Eva Onyx writes clean, small-town paranormal cozy mysteries where old houses, local lore, and second chances take center stage. She’s endlessly inspired by vintage places and the quiet stories they hold, and she delights in crafting feel-good whodunits that leave readers smiling at the last page. When not writing, Eva is outside soaking up fresh air, spending time with family, or tucked into a cozy chair with a book and herbal tea.
Meet Vylette West, she just moved back to the town she grew up in after a bad break up and is not sure what to do so she decides with the help of a woman looking to sell her haunted house, to open her own Real Estate business next to the competition. She just bought her own haunted house and now has the company of the Sea Captain who haunts her house and his friend who happens to be a talking Raven, if any of that sounds confusing and a bit funny then I suggest you buy this book and read about her adventures yourself. Trust me, you’re in for a fun read;)
I thoroughly enjoyed this quirky story and read it in one evening. After moving back to Driftwood Cove, Vylette West purchases Briggs Manor that has been empty for years due to its own resident ghost, Captain Briggs and his side kick, Edgar, the talking raven. Suffice to say Vylette was suitably shocked when she first met them. The well written narrative has lots of laugh out loud moments as Vylette aims to sell another house that also happens to be haunted by Harold who needs justice before he can move on. I look forward to reading the other books in the series and to see what mischief Captain Briggs and Edgar get up to!!
Vylette is back in Driftwood Cove . Although she grew up here there are things she didn't know about back then - such as haunted houses. Now she has one.
What a great read, I love both parts the she is a realtor and doing haunted properties Also how her life gets right side up after a bad relationship to a horrible man
The premise caught my attention because it’s reminiscent of The Ghost and Mrs Muir, but in a modern setting and a murder mystery woven in. An entertaining read.
