Perfect for fans of Ilona Andrews and Nalini Singh, this debut showcases the next voice in paranormal romance. Eleven years ago, a magic virus hopped into the human population, forcing magic creatures and supernaturals to reveal themselves.
Christi rebuilt her life after The Reveal. A talented witch, she'll take any job she can get. Her fortune takes a turn when she finds a mysterious stranger instead of the tome she was sent to steal.
Nate left the pack behind him five years ago. The woman who turned him continues to hunt him down. Nate knows he should run again, but an unexpected visitor changes his plans.
Derrick had everything he could want as an a pack, a mate, a family. When he loses it all, he knows the only person he can turn to is the one who left him behind.
What brings them together might also tear them apart as they take a stand against the biggest wolf pack in the country.
The story follows Christi, a talented witch, who has struggled to find a job after ‘The Reveal’ eleven years ago. The magical virus dubbed ‘The Reveal’ forced magical and supernatural creatures to quite literally reveal themselves. Christi’s life gets interesting after she’s forced to come face to face with a stranger whilst trying to steal a book. Nate owns the bookstore, wanting a quiet life after leaving his wolf pack five years ago. However, the woman who forcibly turned him into a wolf is hunting him down. Christi and Nate work together to help put an end to this once and for all.
I really enjoyed this book, it was an easy read - no complex magic systems or numerous kingdoms to keep up with. The premise was really simple and executed well.
I like the 3 different POV’s we get throughout the book, it switches up naturally and doesn’t feel jarring when reading. The characters are really likeable and relatable and I thought the mental health representation was written with real attentiveness and care.
I would’ve liked a bit more background on ‘The Reveal’ and how/why it happened but that’s just because I’m nosey, it wouldn’t necessarily add anything to the story per se. I thought the romance progressed nicely and wasn’t rushed like you see sometimes and I like that they both had a past and were older characters rather than your typical 18-20 year old FMC & MMC.
Overall, I would recommend this book if you want an easy, interesting paranormal fantasy palette cleanser!
Can’t wait for book 2!
Thank you Kay Zempel for the ARC. I have read this book voluntarily and this is my honest review.
