Some real estate agents sell homes. Vylette West negotiates with the dead.
Her latest listing—a charming yellow cottage with a rose trellis and one very restless ghost—should have been easy. But the dearly departed owner keeps hijacking open houses, whispering movie quotes at buyers, and knocking over lasagnas.
To make matters worse, her business rival is circling like a shark, the mayor seems oddly nervous about what’s on tape, and Morty—the nudist neighbor next door—is demanding she hand over a mysterious film reel.
Now the whole town’s secrets are unspooling faster than Vylette can keep up.
With a haunted VCR, a sarcastic raven, and a salty sea captain ghost for company, Vylette will need all her wits (and maybe a little duct tape) to solve the mystery before someone decides to cut her out of the picture for good.
Eva Onyx writes paranormal cozy mysteries and cozy mysteries set in the neighboring seaside towns of Driftwood Cove and Lighthouse Bay, where ghosts drop in uninvited, the locals know everyone’s business, and there’s always one more suspect than there should be.
Her series include the Paranormal Realtor Cozy Mysteries, about a realtor who can see the dead; the Daisy Sullivan Retirement Home Mysteries, where the residents solve crimes on red scooters; and the Lighthouse Bay Antique Bookstore Mysteries. Characters wander between the series, so readers often bump into old friends.
When she isn’t plotting murders, Eva is happiest with family, a good book and a pot of herbal tea.
📝 Story Review: I enjoyed this second installment just as much as book 1! There were a couple typos here and there, but they didn’t detract from the story. Also, I finally figured out what the mystery conclusions reminded me of! In my review of book 1, I said the ending felt wrapped up a little too neatly, but really what it is, is that it reminds me of the old detective TV show, Perry Mason! In those detective shows, the ending always gets wrapped up neatly and quickly when all of a sudden the perpetrator just confesses all, as if they’ve been pushed past their breaking point and suddenly they just have to confess! That’s what these endings remind me of! So that’s kinda funny!
In this story, Vylette has yet another haunted house to sell and a mystery to solve, amidst her, now married, ex trying to get back into her life. Some comedy, some drama, suspense and amateur sleuthing at its finest!
Genre: Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series: Paranormal Realtor Cozy Mysteries, Book 2 POV: First Person; Single My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

Vylette’s ghost-seeing real estate business is finally gaining traction, helped along when one of her rival’s mistreated employees jumps ship. The haunted realtor concept is still the strongest part. The new hire previously went on a date with Vylette’s secretary, and despite it sounding more boring than anything else, she now razzes him mercilessly, which feels more forced than funny. The small town mystery centers on an older man filming everyone, meant to be quirky but coming off intrusive instead. The conflict never feels weighty enough to match the seriousness of what happens, making the mystery feel off in tone rather than tense. Still, it works as a light, comfort read in between heavier books.
Vylette West is back again and this time she is asked to sell a house that a man called Harvey still hung around in, the only problem with that is he had died awhile ago. Obviously it is up to Vylette to find out why Harvey is haunting his house and how to get home to move along so that the property could be sold, but I believe that may be easier said than done. Come on and pick up this next installment of the paranormal realtor, I believe you’ll enjoy yourself my friends;)
2nd in the series, and I'm stopping here. They are very inconsequential. It's odd, the stories work well enough it's the relationships that just seem entirely flat and unrealistic
