This book was just fun and entertaining all the way from the beginning to the end. I can gladly say that it was well worth my time and energy. The writing is very clear and easy to follow; the storyline is intriguing, original, and laced with both classic and modern elements, what a fascinating read indeed! I found nothing in it that would make it a bore. I was constantly turning its pages eager to find out what the three buddies will do with their treasure and will they withstand the crowd of dubious characters after them! I highly recommend it to readers of all ages! . I found out from the author’s description at the back of the book that he is a former teacher, principal, and children’s pastor so no wonder why the story felt so suitable for its targeted audience. I hope you give this book a try. It is a standalone middle grade fiction novel and I was very impressed with its cover art when it arrived in the mail. I have absolutely nothing to complain about it to you all. Easily, a 5-star book for me! Hope you get to enjoy it like I did!
This book is perfect for the middle grade and keeps you on the edge of your seat to find out what happens. I loved how the boys are always playing outside and get into (mostly) innocent trouble as kids should do. I was confused by the time period, though. While reading, I thought that there were many references that kids today would not understand; for example, The Three Stooges or many of the songs that were sung. Later on in the novel, it mentioned that the story took place in the 80’s. The pop culture references then made more sense to me, however, I was then confused as to why this was the decade that the story took place. It would be much more relatable to children if the setting was during modern times.
