Filled With Mercy

Rate this book

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is a central doctrine in the plan of salvation, and individual experiences and understanding are crucial for our personal growth. Whether offering cleansing forgiveness through repentance, providing the enabling power of strength in times of need, or building a stronger foundation of faith, the Atonement touches every part of our lives.

Filled with Mercy is an invitation to spend a little time every day pondering the transcendent doctrine of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and its role in our individual lives. Each page contains bite-sized insights of daily wisdom from dozens of trusted authors and Church leaders, including Joseph Smith, Eliza R. Snow, Brigham Young, James E. Talmage, Truman G. Madsen, Neal A. Maxwell, and others.

As Elder Richard G. Scott explained, "There is an imperative need for each of us to strengthen our understanding of Christ's Atonement so that it will become an unshakable foundation upon which to build our lives." Filled with Mercy offers guidance, hope, and prophetic insight for those seeing to draw closer to the Lord and to deepen their understanding of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

I have loved reading these daily quotes on Christ's atonement throughout the year. Some quotes touched me deeply, and every day I had a page to read that would at least momentarily focus my thoughts on my Savior.

This book is a daily read book with quotes about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It was a nice spot in my day when at the close just before retiring I would read a passage from the book and ponder on the thoughts presented. Often Mr. J and I would discuss things brought to our attention that we hadn't known before. The book is powerful and comforting at the same time. Each quote reaffirmed my faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ and his ability to rescue me from my sins.

Here is a quote from September 29

In an ultimate sense, of curse, we cannot earn salvation by our wise choices or our goo deeds. We do what we can, but the goal is far beyond us. Someone else must bridge the chasm . . . Jesus reminded his disciples, 'Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you' (John 15:16). We seek to follow the Savior, adhering to his teachings, emulating his virtues, enduring whatever burdens may be placed upon us, bearing his name, accepting his great sacrifice, and calling upon his grace. We then have to hope that he will reach out and draw us to him, making us more than we have made ourselves.
