As a child I buried myself in books both at home in Essex and at my grandparents’ houses in Cornwall, where I spent a large part of my time, and where many of my stories are now set. Books and later films were an escape not just from where I was but who I was, which, as I saw it, was pretty much a geek. They gave me the freedom to become someone else, from George in the Famous Five to Velvet Brown winning the Grand National to Baby dancing the Chachacha with Johnny Castle.
A speedy, suspenseful read about messed up families and the secrets they keep. I absolutely adored the setting of the little British seaside town in the off-season. I really connected with the main character too, and felt like I was walking the rainy streets of Seaton with her.
This was a fast-paced book set in England. Iiked how it was simple and everything ended up being solved and connected, mysterious and ordinary at the same time
So I bought this book after reading Nadin's book 'Wonderland' and something I have realized is that I love her writing. The plot twists, the characters, everything seemed to intrigue me more and more and i stayed until i couldnt stay awake anymore, just reading. I do admit, she could have included some other details to make it much better, but overall, It was wonderful. My copy of the book now has pencil writings from all the assumptions I made until the end. Increidible!
This was an interesting book and the characters and plot and setting drew me in but it soon transpired that to me the main 'twists' were a bit too obvious but I did like the way it panned out. Although I did feel that the ending was a bit too abrupt.
