Leah has never been close to her younger half-sister, but she’s not surprised to get a frantic phone call late at night, asking for a ride. Amanda’s life has always been a snarled mess of bad choices and boyfriends, and it’s common for her to resurface mid-crisis.
But this time is different. Amanda is adamant about getting to the neighboring town of Belmont but won’t say why—only that her five-year-old son is in danger. But Amanda doesn’t have any kids.
Before Leah can get answers, Amanda runs into the road and is killed by a passing car.
In the days that follow, Leah convinces herself that Amanda was confused that night, especially after the coroner finds hallucinogenic drugs in her bloodstream. But that doesn’t explain the nameless boy at Amanda’s visitation. Or the middle of the night phone calls with no one on the other end. Or the unshakable feeling of being watched.
Erik Therme has thrashed in garage bands, inadvertently harbored runaways, and met Darth Vader. He currently resides in Iowa City, Iowa—one of only twenty-eight places in the world that UNESCO has certified as a City of Literature.
A tragic accident takes the life of Leah's half-sister, Amanda, sending Leah into a cat and mouse game with a killer. After Amanda's funeral unexpected things start happening to Leah. Every time she thinks she is on the right track to find who is behind the acts she winds up two steps behind. I was sure I had things figured out but when the creep finally makes themselves known I was not prepared for the fallout! Excellent twist!
Typical of Erik Therme's books, Got You leans heavy into family drama, giving readers insight into Leah's past and what makes her vulnerable. There are characters in this book to love and dislike. I have my favorite, but you'll have to read the book to find out who it is.
For fans or Erik's books, be on the lookout for the Mortom reference!
I always feel spoiled when an author reaches out to ask if I’d like to read and review their book. To me, it’s also a sign of appreciation — it means (or at least I like to think so!) that my reviews actually mean something and aren’t just random words thrown onto a screen. (This, of course, applies to all the authors and publishers who trust me to take a closer look at their books. 😉)
So when the email landed in my inbox, I didn’t hesitate for a second — it was an immediate and enthusiastic yes.
This author writes books that are just the right length to include everything I love in a story. No wasted space, no unnecessary words — just straight to the point. There’s always a good dose of confusion too, which keeps the reader’s brain working hard to piece everything together. But of course, you’re constantly led astray, analyzing every character without being able to figure it out.
And just when you think you’ve finally identified the culprit, you’re left stunned when the real villain steps forward and explains why everything happened the way it did.
So no, it wasn’t predictable for me at all — I was left groping in the dark until the very end. Absolutely delightful.
If I had to pick a favorite character, it would be Parker. He proves that first impressions can be deceiving — people are often so much more than what they seem.
I thought this was a very good book with a surprising twist. (4.5 stars)
Leah and her half-sister Amanda have never been close, but when she receives a call from her in the middle of the night asking her to come pick her up, she does. Amanda seems distraught and says things that seem crazy, but this time, Leah believes she is telling the truth, even though it can’t be.
Amanda looks scared for her five-year-old son, but Leah believes she has no children. Leah keeps asking Amanda questions to see how true her story might be. Amanda appears agitated and jumps out of the car. Leah tries to get her back in, but before she can, Amanda runs into the street and gets hit by a car.
Someone blames Leah for Amanda’s death and wants her to pay. Everywhere Leah goes, she finds small gifts waiting for her. Who is leaving these surprises, and why? Who is harassing her? What do they want? Can Leah solve this mystery before she becomes the next victim?
I truly enjoyed reading GOT YOU by Erik Therme, and that's been true of every one of his books I’ve read. He keeps you on your toes, and just when you think you've figured it out, bam! Another twist hits, leaving you stunned and confused. You’re right back where you started, wondering what’s really going on.
I’m eagerly awaiting his next story. I highly recommend GOT YOU to anyone who loves a good mystery full of surprises. Get a copy of GOT YOU and any of his other books today for another exciting mystery to solve.
Sisterhood can be fatal… and Erik Therme proves it once again with another gripping psychological thriller.
Leah has never been close to her younger half-sister Amanda. So when she gets a panicked late-night phone call asking for a lift, it feels like history repeating itself – Amanda has always had a knack for messy situations and bad choices.
But this time something feels off. Amanda is frantic, desperate to get to the nearby town of Belmont because, she insists, her five-year-old son is in danger.
There’s just one problem – Amanda doesn’t have a son.
Before Leah can get any real answers, tragedy strikes.
Amanda runs into the road and is killed by a passing car. From that moment, the tension ramps up fast.
Leah blames herself for not simply taking her sister where she wanted to go, and the guilt eats away at her. But it’s what happens next that really hooks you in.
A nameless little boy appears at Amanda’s visitation, Leah starts receiving eerie phone calls in the middle of the night, and she can’t shake the feeling that someone is watching her. Someone blames Leah for Amanda’s death – and they want her to pay.
I’ve read a few of Erik Therme’s books, and I really like his writing style.
He’s brilliant at pacing, pulling readers in with short, punchy chapters and ending each one with just enough of a hook to keep you turning the pages.
Got You is no different – full of twists, tension, and moments that make you second-guess everything you thought you knew.
Leah is a character you can really connect with. She’s flawed, loyal, and shaped by a complicated family background that adds emotional depth to the story.
I especially enjoyed her friendship with her best friend and roommate, Em. Their relationship brings a welcome warmth and humour to the darker parts of the novel. Parker also came into his own towards the end, and I found his storyline unexpectedly touching.
At several points, I thought I’d worked out who was tormenting Leah – but Therme is the master of the curveball. Just when you think you’ve got it sussed, he changes direction completely. The result is a twisty, fast-paced thriller that I absolutely devoured.
Got You is tense, emotional, and full of unexpected turns. From the shocking opening chapter to the satisfying conclusion, it’s a gripping exploration of guilt, grief, and family secrets. Erik Therme’s ability to keep readers on their toes makes this another standout read.
With thanks to Erik Therme for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Erik Therme has become one of my favourite writers. I always wait with anticipation for his next book. His first chapter never fails to grab me. Got You's first Chapter was a hard hitting beginning. Where was this event going to take us? it seemed like all was over in Chapter 1. Not so. The remaining read was truly an adventure. Intense, Fast Paced, Mysterious and Thrilling. The characters were varied and interesting as was the complicated Family Dynamics. I never knew who or what would be the final culprit. A most surprising ending. Very Clever.
A tragic accident took Leah’s half sister, Amanda’s life which sent Leah into a mouse and cat game… 😕 After the Amanda’s funeral takes the place, strange things started to happen to Leah and she starts to question why all this is happening and whether it’s to do with Amanda’s death. Leah is not quitting until she finds out who was behind all this! 🤔
Wow! What the HECK did I just read?! 😳This is BANGING!!!! Know why? This story got me completely HOOKED and I need to find out otherwise I wouldn’t be able to rest! 🤯 Erik done AMAZING and I’m definitely going to invest in more of his books! 📚👀
Thank you to Zooloos Book Tour and Erik for letting me participating in this tour. ♥️
Got You was a gripping and thrilling read. I was hooked from the start and it was a page turner, I read this one quickly. I loved the short and snappy chapters, it made the story gripping and with every twist it made the plot more complex.
Leah, who has never been close with her younger half-sister Amanda, receives a frantic call from her in the middle of the night. Amanda asks Leah to take her to a near by town because her son is in danger, the only thing is, she doesn’t have a son. Due to Amandas frantic behaviour, she ends up getting killed by an oncoming car. Leah starts receiving strange phone calls and thinks someone is watching her. Someone wants Leah to pay for Amanda’s death.
This book built up suspense and the pacing was amazing. Just when I thought I knew the direction of the book, there was a curveball that threw me off. I loved the characters in this book, some I thought were suspicious, others surprised me towards the ending. This book dealt with some difficult emotions about guilt, grief and family struggles. I have loved all the books I have read by Erik Therme so I highly recommend this one.
This book has all the right elements. The characters are interesting and well developed. The plot is relatable and keeps your mind working right along with it. Why is this happening? Who did what? Why? Are these people REALLY who they say the are?
It's a great short read with only about 220 pages. I recommend it to readers who enjoy mystery and suspense.
A thriller wrapped around a family, its struggles, secrets, anxieties, weaknesses and strengths. Leah receives a late night call from her half-sister Amanda, and reluctantly goes to rescue her. Her sister is unhinged as usual, screaming about her son who is in danger, and Leah attempts to calm her down. It doesn't work and Amanda runs off. Lean finally catches up but it's too late. Amanda is hit by a car and is dead.
Leah, with the help of her best friend Em, sets out to find out who killed her half-sister. She encounters threats, lies, and family members she's never heard of. Leah realizes that she'll have to talk to her estranged father if she wants to find out the reason why Amanda died and who killed her.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this suspense thriller that was full of tension and verging on being psychological, as well. Leah had been brought up as an only child by her parents when one night, her dad confessed to Leah and her mum that he’d had an affair. Also, he had another daughter, called Amanda. Leah and Amanda didn’t see eye to eye plus it ruined Leah’s relationship with her dad. She rescued Amanda when she rang for help though. Even the night she died, although she didn’t make any sense and was talking about a son which Leah knew she didn’t have. She hadn’t even heard from her in six months. That’s when strange things started to happen to Leah. She had strange phone hang ups. Couldn’t get hold of her dad to tell him about Amanda. Then there was the strange bouquet of flowers and gift left outside the flat by someone. The doll was seriously creepy. Did someone blame her for Amanda’s death? Did they want her dead? This story was brilliantly written from the start and had me hooked so I couldn’t put it down. I had to carry on reading during the night as I needed to know what happened next as I couldn’t wait a few hours! The plotting was excellently done and it was certainly well thought. The characters were well thought out, intriguing and seemed very realistic when they were well described and their traits were listed. The descriptive writing was excellent and everything was described perfectly. The synopsis drew me to read this story and I most certainly wasn’t disappointed by the full story. It was my type of story which I enjoy reading. I haven’t read this author before but I would like to read more of his books in the future.
Blurb :
Sisterhood can be fatal.
Leah has never been close to her younger half-sister, but she’s not surprised to get a frantic phone call late at night, asking for a ride. Amanda’s life has always been a snarled mess of bad choices and boyfriends, and it’s common for her to resurface mid-crisis.

But that doesn’t explain the nameless boy at Amanda’s visitation. Or the middle of the night phone calls with no one on the other end. Or the unshakable feeling of being watched.
Someone blames Leah for Amanda’s death.
And that someone wants Leah dead.
Leah slowed her step as she approached her apartment. Two things had been laid at her door. The first was a bouquet of flowers in cellophane paper—the cheap kind you’d grab from a gas station or grocery store. The second was a red gift bag. No card; only white tissue paper poking out from the top.
She bent for a closer look and found a slip of paper taped to the bouquet. SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS was handwritten in neat capital letters.
They had to be from Neil.
She shot a glance down the hallway, half expecting him to materialize. He’d already shared his condolences twice, so why leave a gift with the flowers? Sorry your half-sister died; here’s a box of chocolates to ease the pain? Leah didn’t want to believe he’d resort to using Amanda’s death as a way back into her life, but she didn’t really know his character. A few dinner dates wasn’t enough time to know anyone.
Against her better judgment, she spread apart the tissue paper and looked into the bag. It was a cloth doll, maybe eight inches in length, bent in half at the waist. Leah lifted it out and dropped it with a gasp.
Someone had drawn two black X’s across the doll’s eyes. Even worse, a single word had been written in the corner of the doll's mouth.
There's something unsettling about family dynamics we can't quite fix, and Erik Therme captures this perfectly in Got You. When I picked up this psychological thriller for the 3Ps Virtual Book Tour with Zooloos Book Tours, I wasn't prepared for how personally it would resonate.
Leah has never been close to her younger half-sister Amanda , a reality that hit close to home for me as I am not close to my half-brother . Amanda's life is a chaotic tangle of poor decisions and toxic relationships, and Leah has learned to expect late-night crisis calls. But when Amanda phones frantically demanding a ride to Belmont, insisting her son is in danger, Leah is confused. Amanda doesn't have any children.
Before Leah can unravel the truth, Amanda runs into traffic and is killed. What follows is a masterfully crafted descent into paranoia and grief that had me questioning everything alongside Leah.
The coroner's report reveals hallucinogens in Amanda's system, which should provide closure. Leah receives silent phone calls in the dead of night. The feeling of being watched becomes inescapable. Someone blames Leah for Amanda's death, and they want revenge.
Amanda reminded me so much of my own sister ,that frustrating mix of chaos and vulnerability that makes you want to both help and keep your distance. Leah mirrored my own response to such relationships: dutiful but emotionally guarded, always bracing for the next catastrophe.
However, Parker absolutely stole my heart. I have to admit he became my favorite character. His innocent, childlike happiness made me want to scoop him up and protect him from everything dark lurking in this story.
The pacing is relentless, with Erik Therme layering mystery upon mystery until the shocking conclusion. The atmosphere drips with dread, and the psychological tension never lets up.
Got You is a gripping exploration of guilt, family dysfunction, and the terrifying lengths people will go to for revenge. It's perfect for fans of domestic thrillers who appreciate complex sibling relationships and unreliable narrators. Erik Therme has crafted a page-turner that will keep you reading well past bedtime , just maybe leave the lights on.
her half sister from her dad having a one night stand calls her from a bar to tell her its a emergency that her son (she never had a son) is in danger and to come get her. she wants a ride to a town she never heard of and said no she would take her home but she got upset and left the car barefoot in the night. she went after her but before she caught up her sister was hit by a car and died. she had drugs in her system
she feels like its her fault
she doesnt want to speak to her dad , but leaves a message and he never answers anyone she went to his house turns out he got remarried to the neighbor he only knew a few months. she has a half brother she thinks might be sweet and slow
someone did graffiti on her dads house and left her a creepy doll and flowers at her apt door. shes trying to figure out what is going on
the boy her sister claimed as her son who would be in danger is really her boyfriends son who he is afraid he might be in a dispute with the boys mom about custody. her boyfriend had the neighbor call her that night to try and scare her into stopping the drugs which was a stupid idea
the stepbrother gave her her moms necklace (her mom died 3 months after the dad confessed to the affair) and she forgot to take it out of the car. a girl she met at the funeral was driving her from the bar where she was supposed to meet the person texting her stepbrother and pretending to be her. now she knows shes in danger and has been kidnapped.

✦ 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 - This book follows Leah, who loses her best friend Amanda in a shocking accident. Everyone thinks it’s just a heartbreaking tragedy, but Leah can feel it in her gut that something darker is hidden behind that night. Mysterious threats, slashed tires, a creepy guy always watching he4 and a secret child nobody ever told her about. One by one, she discovers truths that cut deeper than the grief she’s already drowning in. Someone wants her to suffer. Someone is not done with her yet. And the scariest part is - the danger comes from someone she once trusted with her whole heart. The pacing starts slow but once the pieces begin falling into place, it becomes a full thrill ride. That twist when the real villain steps out of the shadows made me freeze for a moment. I felt Leah’s fear, her guilt, her confusion… but most importantly her strength. Watching her heal and fight back made me genuinely proud of her. The relationships are messy and raw - especially the emotional moments with her dad that gave this story a lot of heart. There were parts where I literally sat there like, “girl what is going on” and then suddenly everything made sense. Dark, twisty, addictive. A perfect psychological thriller vibe that keeps you suspicious of everyone till the very last page. Thank you so much Zoe for the free ARC
Got You drew me in with its tense, unsettling atmosphere and the constant sense that something wasn’t quite right. I found myself turning the pages because I genuinely wanted to know who was behind the torment and how everything would tie together in the end. The mystery is layered, eerie, and full of those little moments that make you stop and question what’s really happening. Interestingly, I didn’t form strong attachments to the characters — and in this case, that actually worked in the book’s favour. Their distance and flaws added to the overall unease and kept the focus firmly on the unraveling secrets rather than emotional investment. While the writing style didn’t fully pull me in, the story’s tension and pacing made this an enjoyable read, especially when I was in the mood for a thriller that leans more into intrigue than obsession. A solid, suspenseful mystery with an ending I definitely wanted to reach.
This was a super fast paced, easy to read, twisty thriller. Family dynamics and trauma are front and center. The story is told from Leah's POV, and following the sudden death of her half sister Amanda, Leah begins feeling as though someone blames her for Amanda's death. Is she being watched, followed, harassed, stalked? The things happening to Leah in the wake of Amanda's death continue to escalate until we come to an unexpected, yet satisfying, conclusion.
I honestly found every single character unlikeable, but enough had redeeming qualities that it didn't ruin the story for me. I thought I had this one figured out multiple times. Every. Single. Theory. Wrong. So many twists and turns. This is a great option for a fast-paced, quick read over a holiday or weekend.
Thank you to author Erik Therme and Zooloo's Book Tours for including me on this book tour and for the #gifted digital review copy! All thoughts expressed are my own.
Thank you to Zooloo's Book Tours and the author for this ARC!
I thought this was a pretty decent thriller, with a great range of suspicious characters to make it more fun for the reader. I was really convinced by one theory I had, which was so far from what actually happened in the end!
I found most of the characters pretty unlikeable, which totally works in a thriller but did mean that I wanted the ending to have a bit more bite. That being said, it was very neatly finished with a fully-tied-up conclusion and nothing left unanswered, which was satisfying.
I liked the author's writing style, and found it very easy to race through the book. Definitely one for an easy holiday read!
I really wanted to like Leah, but I found it quite hard. It’s probably the way her relationship with her father has deteriorated since she discovered that he had fathered a child with a work colleague over twenty-five years ago. That child was Amanda – her half-sister. Her mum forgave him but Leah can’t. I know she’s hurt, but Leah, it’s not all about you. I think that’s my problem. She makes everything about her. And I’m not the only one who thinks so, but that comes much later.
So on to the story. Amanda has always been a bit of a loose cannon, so when she calls Leah saying she’s being threatened and needs a lift to a place Leah has never heard of, Leah refuses. Amanda is either drunk or high and Leah doesn’t want to get involved. But when Amanda runs off and is knocked down by a passing car, killing her outright, Leah is drawn in whether she likes it or not.
Then all sorts of scary things start to happen – Leah is being watched, but by whom, and what do they want? And someone blames her for Amanda’s death. And that someone wants her dead. It’s only the beginning, as Leah gets pulled into a web of deceit, where she no longer knows who to trust. Apart from irritating best friend and flatmate Emma of course. And then there is Parker – her father’s stepson from his recent marriage to the dreadful Nikki next door.
Erik has a very recognisable ‘voice’ in his writing. It’s hard to explain what I mean by that. It’s a no-frills, no-nonsense, fast paced style which is sometimes quite shocking. Like starting with a row between two of the main characters – then one walks into the road and is immediately mowed down by a car. But don’t let that fool you. It goes from simple to twisty and complicated very quickly and will keep you on your toes and probably up half the night reading.
Many thanks to @ZooloosBT for inviting me to be part of this blog tour.
I won this book on goodreads. Here is my review. I really enjoyed the book. My money was on Em just because of the title. Boy was I wrong. It keep me guessing up until the end. Was it Jake, Parker, Neil or even Amanda's mom. Never thought it was .... Sorry not going to spoil it. I did enjoy the book. Would like to see more of Damon, Parker, Jake and Em. I enjoyed the guessing games. Keep them coming.
There were loads of great twists in this read, it certainly keeps the reader on their toes as to what is going to happen next. A heart in your mouth cat and mouse chase that keeps you guessing and also keeps you reading, it’s a hard book to put down, fast paced with a great plot. A new author for me but I loved the writing in this book it really makes me want to read more.
I found this book very confusing. Between Leah, Emma, Parker, Rena, Neil, Jerry, Damon & Jack/ Drew. And then there’s Amanda. Amanda was a junky and a confused person, who got killed. Leah, her sister was trying to find the truth, of what happened to Amanda. To many people to keep track of.
Incredible and suspenseful, so much so that despite it being the day before Christmas Eve, I was unable to put it down. Characters felt like you really knew them. Great book, great author !!
No thanks. Main character was dreadful and the narration was about as monotone as could be- she didn’t have any life in the words she spoke. Wanted to walk away but it was only 200+ pages so had to finish. Bummer end of year choice.
This is the first book I have read of @eriktherme and I found it quite enjoyable. He has a very easy reading writing style with short snappy chapters each one ending with a little nugget to keep you turning the pages.
It is full of twists and turns and on occasion leaves you second guessing everything you might have thought along the way.
The characters are well developed throughout the story all coming into their own as the story unfolds. Each adding their own little bit of depth to make the story what it was.
Got You is a tense yet emotional ride. From an exciting start to a very satisfying conclusion, Therme is very good at throwing curveballs just when you had it figured out.
Overall a fast paced enjoyable read.
Thankyou to @zooloosbooktours and @eriktherme for the arc and for having me along for this tour.
This is my third read by Therme and is once again a brilliant standalone read.
Now ,I'm not too sure how I feel about our main character, certainly not one I was invested in and not one I was exactly rooting for - but for some reason this added a layer of intrigue to the storyline for me.
When Leah picks her sister up from a night out, they end up arguing and Amanda is then Run over and killed pretty swiftly as the story gets going - but she leaves Leah not only coming to terms with what happened, but also wondering why she was talking about a son she doesn't have!?
This definitely sets us off at a fast pace and had me hooked on the premise despite me not loving Leah herself.
What follows, leads us to many twists and turns and had me unsure who to trust and wondering what was going on.
I love a thriller that keeps me guessing and has me on edge and with the stalker vibes and the creepy atmosphere throughout, I was drawn into this one until the last page.
