Toby never really left.

They buried him. They burned the house. They did what they could to erase him, but he came back…just for me.

I feel him every moment. I’m his. Every fiber of my soul screams for him. My brother. My twin.

He tells me I’m beautiful when I ache. He calms the pain when my body trembles beneath him, desperate, ready to surrender to him. Only him

The others don’t understand. They cry. They scream. They try to take me away, but I won’t go. I won’t let them have me, not when Toby fills me with the only thing I crave.

They say I’m sick. That I’m dangerous.

But Toby says I’m perfect. And when he holds me, when his lips burn on mine, when his fingers sink into me, I know he’s right.

His name is all I need. His touch is all I crave.

This body. This skin. This love.

It’s all just borrowed.

This book is going to the WTF did I just read list ……

It’s very short like under 200 pages but it packs a punch.

This is a PITCH BLACK EROTICA HORROR this is NOT a dark romance ! Don’t get it twisted!
It’s EXTREME TABOO with “twincest” and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IF YOU DECIDE TO READ THIS BOOK PLEASE READ THE TW ! This is not for the faint of heart! If it’s not your cup of tea turn around right now, this is definitely not for everybody.

THIS BOOK IT IS PITCH BLACK, IT IS MESSY, IT IS DISTURBING, IT IS HARD TO DIGEST AND IT IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE ! So why did I like it ? I need a doctor or a priest 😂😂😂

This is the story of Tabitha aka Tabbi and Tobias aka Toby, they are twins and have a very deep connection.
During most of the book I was just thinking what the fuck is happening, I am not understanding but why I am so intrigued and weirdly invested ? I was playing detective trying to understand as I was being bamboozled the whole time. To understand the book you NEED to be in Tabby’s mind because she suffers from Schizoaffective disorder, once you put yourself in this mindset you stop thinking ew and start to see things through her eyes, not that this will make you less uncomfortable, not at all. When you see and understand she is a very sick person you get it why the things are so disturbing!
The book is extremely fast paced and easy to read. THE ENDING had me checking my theories skills because IT WAS NOTHING I thought it was so my career as a detective died right there with the ending of this book. I honestly wish it was longer and the author explored more of Tabbi’s and Tobby’s mind, I would’ve loved to have their relationship, trauma, lives and illness detailed to me. But alas here we are !
But hey I somehow am disturbed to say that I liked it ! If you are looking for a pitch black dark erotica horror that is a mindfuck, this is the book for you!

*Check your trigger warnings*

This book is… heavy. Disturbing. Beautifully written. And unlike anything I’ve read before.

Borrowed doesn’t hold back, it dives headfirst into grief, trauma, fractured identity, and obsessive love, and it doesn’t stop for air. The prose is stunning, the storyline is deeply layered, and the pacing keeps you locked in even when you want to look away.

Make no mistake this is not an easy read. It’s graphic. It’s taboo. And it’s emotionally brutal in a way that left me feeling hollow more than once.

There’s no way to talk about the ending without spoiling it, but I will say it caught me off guard in the most devastating, twisted way. I had to sit with it for a while afterward. It’s the kind of story that makes you question everything you thought you understood and then turns the knife a little more.

SK Pryntz does a phenomenal job of making you see the story through a fractured lens. There were moments I could feel Tabby’s psychotic break like it was my own. You’re not gently eased into the madness, you descent straight into it. It’s a spiral, disorienting and relentless, and it keeps you teetering on the edge the entire time.

If you choose to read this—and you should— just know what you're walking into. It's not just dark; it’s pitch black and it will stay with you long past the last page.

Not sure I could even explain this story to you…however, do read the triggers.

It emerges through stages each one as dark, psychological, violent, suspenseful until the end 🦋If I was feeling generous, I’d give you a little tidbit but honestly, it’s a quick couple of hours read as such, just read it yourself and come to your own conclusions 😈

As usual with SK her writing is amazing, her penchant for ensuring you are immersed into the worlds she comes up with are brilliant, the visuals she gives means your own heads imagination is there within the pages 🖤

I’m just going to start off with read your triggers before reading. That being said wtf was that. It is so messed up and that mother of theirs 🤬🤮. While reading this you have to remember the fmc is schizoaffective with a lot of childhood trauma, if you can keep that in mind it is definitely a wtf am I reading but it makes more sense. Also wtf was that twist because I was not expecting that at all I was expecting something entirely different to happen. If you like horror, unhinged characters then give this a read just remember the characters mental state during the read.

Read this as our August LBR, in my group:
Midnight's Embrace

Author's Dedication:
" To those who 'dog-ear' the sex scenes and reread the violence... This one's for you, pervert. Enjoy the show."

This would have actually been a cool dedication if it applied to me.

I don't know what Ms. Pryntz was smoking 🚬 when she wrote this, but, no. Just no.. None of this darkness and gore was written in a way that blew my skirt up to want to return and relive it all. Let alone bask in it as I read it.. I actually spent a great deal of time looking away as I read this.

The ending wasn't a mind phuck for me either, cause I actually was finally able to figure out what was really going on, in chapter 19. So yeah.. Sorry.. No dice. It was actually kind of a let down to be honest, when the BIG reveal happens in chap 22😏

I will say this though, this book is backward. On all scales. No matter your bend, you will be like 🤮🤮

Maybe that was the point. But if it is, then I don't dig this author's writing prose at all. Plot/subject matter of the book aside, I just didn't like how disjointed this narrative is for the whole of the book.

I didn't like not being able to pinpoint if this type of writing was done by design, or if it was actually because the author was struggling to write such a fractured character, in a clear and precise way, that would still give structure to the internal chaos. You know.. written in a way where even though you are not in the know of the why's you're still able to understand what's actually being written??

Yeah.. that's not present here at all.
It's all jumbled. Then fractured, then scene continuum errors reign supreme.. Then you get a teensy bit of clarity, but you find yourself second guessing your comprehension skills.. Then you're back to jumbled chaos again..🥴

So the best thing I can say about this book is that I finished it.🤷‍♀️
Which is why it got the 2 stars.

Would I recommend?= Not my monkey 🙊 not my zoo.

Spice?= -0🌶

Horror?= 2 🌟

Plot and Plight?=Will have you🤮

And another thang.. Why is this 154 page book $5.99??? Ridiculous.

Now, I was the first to advocate for this book when it was banned, by getting the word out. Cause on principle alone, I feel people have a right to read what they want to read and write what they want to write.. But I find that the delivery of the content here, is what I have issue with and not the content itself.

So this one was a big disappointment for me.

I was really looking forward to reading this story. Hopeful that it lived up to the hype and controversy.

It didn't.

✨Thank you S.K. Pryntz for the ARC read ✨

This book? Unwell. I’m unwell. You will be too.

Before anything else, CHECK. YOUR. TRIGGER. WARNINGS.

Seriously. This is not a light read. This is dark & soul-wrenching. Pitch black. This is a taboo, graphic erotic horror with themes of deep, relentless grief, obsession, trauma and so much graphic content I started questioning if I needed an exorcism or a nap. The ending? Had me staring at the wall like it owed me answers. For ten minutes. 🧍🏽‍♀️

This book is written with a hypnotic, lyrical violence that makes the horror almost beautiful in a twisted way. If you’re looking for a comforting read, this isn’t it. But if you want to feel ruined in the best way, this book delivers. 🫣

One of the main reasons I bought this book (originally at $2.99) was because I learned after initially allowing it to be sold, the Zon decided to censor this book from their site, as well as not allowing Goodread members to look it up, add it to their TBR's, or rate/review it.

I will always support authors who I feel aren't being given their freedoms in this country, especially concerning books.

Thankfully, Amazon got their act together-allowing this book to be sold on their site and allowing GR members to treat it as any other book they wish to read or review. I will note, however, that a "glitch" of sorts has been discovered among members very recently that if you give this book 3 stars or more, it's "shorting-out" your notifications bell if anyone leaves comments on it. Trying to keep the book from being discussed maybe?🤷‍♀️

So......off my soapbox, and on to my review of this book..........In all honesty, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
The whole time I was reading this book, all I could think was......WTH?!? I felt like this story was one hot, disjointed mess. I always felt at a loss about MANY things, especially concerning the two main characters and what was reality and what wasn't. I think it's safe to say EVERYONE was crazy! I do think the mother got her proper end, though👍 I gave Borrowed two stars because I was actually able to finish it. To me, this story doesn't in any way define the description of dark romance (which is a genre I genuinely like). It's in a class all it's own, but I did NOT find it romantic OR sexy. Mainly I was just pretty grossed out🤮

This book was quite the ride!

Warning: Before you proceed… it is IMPERATIVE you check triggers because this book is basically a walking trigger nightmare. That being said, this book had me questioning everything until close to the end which I love in a book. At one point I had to message a friend who had already read the book and ask her why I am so confused lol. It’s the good kind of confusion though, it’s like a mystery you have to uncover and can’t put down until you do. I mean… I was reading this in the church parking lot while reading the church scene because obviously, I couldn’t wait to find out what happens. It’s a unique Dark Romance (maybe even pitch black) and written differently than any dark romance I typically read (and I read a lot). It is graphic and the trauma is heavy, but I really enjoyed it! If you are a dark/pitch black reader, grab this one!

I am going to go with, no. This was definitely not my flavor of tea.

I also think this is misleading in genre advertising, because this book does not fall in the realm of a dark romance novel. Not at all. It is certainly horrific insanity, but not even close to a dark romance story.

If asked, I would certainly not recommend this.

Dark? No, babe. This book is 152 pages of pitch black. Check the trigger warnings before reading!!! You’ve been warned.

Borrowed was a wild fucking ride. I didn’t know what was up, down, left, or right! It felt like I was reading the diary of mental patient, which checks out. Lmao. I was pleasantly(?) confused, it made me want to find out what was REAL. Immediately after finishing the book, I had to read the reviews and google the ending. Because… shit, what a twist. I kind of guessed it towards the end but it still shook me to my core.

It’s taboo, traumatic, and deranged. I usually don’t read taboo romances, cause ew. But idk SK Pryntz wrote in such a unique, chaotic, and beautiful way that the taboo relationship wasn’t what I was focused on. It was the mystery, the horror, and the need for answers that kept me going.

Idk… how I feel right now. But there are scenes that will stick with me for a while.

I received a copy in return for my honest review.

What did I just read and why do I want more of it?! No seriously, Sk NEVER fails and this one, whew! If anyone would have asked me “What do you think will happen?” Or “How do you think the book will end?” I would have looked them straight in the face with my jaw on the floor and unintelligible words spilling out. I still have no idea how to comprehend what this book was, the mental health and absolute mindf*ck ending shocked me to the core. PLEASE BY ALL MEANS CHECK THE TRIGGERS! P.s. for Sk, I might have to take back my FMK answers 🤣

Started this book and finished the same night, I literally could not put it down! SK Pryntz once again brought her exceptional writing to the table!

Tabitha & Tobias are twins. She is admitted to a mental facility by her parents after a fire in the home and Tobias doesn't make it out. Tobias aka Toby is only seen by her. Her mother despises her. We learn all about Mom too. Honestly, this book is one where you read through to the end because you can't put it down, then you sit and ask yourself what in the f*ck did you just read.

I will recommend this one over and over!!

4.25⭐️ 5🌶️ I devoured this.

Firstly, CHECK UR TRIGGERS, dear god please don’t read this before you do. This was Dark, Disturbing, but also Sad and Beautifully written.

The ending had me gaged, I just had to stare at my Kindle for a solid 5 minutes.

I don’t even have words to describe Tabby & Toby and their relationship. It’s Deranged & Twisted. The things that happened to them and by them were both tragic & insane.

(I think I might either need to try Church, or go to Therapy cuz I enjoyed this so much)

Well, that was a ride. Borrowed is full of so many twists and turns. You don't know what's real, who the main character is, nothing. I had my suspicions and it ended in a way I thought it would. The epilogue has me speculating more is going on.

Interesting!

4/5🍒
2/5🌶️

Tabby and Toby are twins. They were raised by a wicked woman. While residing with their wicked mother a fire breaks out and one doesn’t make it.

Tabby is thrown into a psychiatric facility by her parents after they feel she is a danger to herself and others. She sees things that aren’t there and talks to people specifically Toby who died. Her parents think she has lost her marbles.

But to Tabby everything she sees and hears is real and it all matters deeply to her. Especially Toby. He is the love of her life. She worships him in un sibling like ways. But is everything she sees and hears real or is she actually crazy?

Devoured in a few hours. Couldn’t get enough of the intense nature and was kept on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering what was really happening. This was very dark and I loved every second. The ending absolutely bewildered me and had me staring at the screen for a solid 10 minutes wondering what just happened.

I finished this book days ago and I’m still trying to process what I read. I’ve written and rewritten this review many times, because nothing feels good enough. First I just have to ask, SK are you okay? That was absolutely mind melting. I love the way your brain works.

From the very first chapter this book had me absolutely hooked. I read the whole thing in one sitting, as there was no way in hell i could put it down. Toby and Tabby will completely break your heart and soul with their story. The trauma is like no other. The way SK has written just emphasised it so perfectly.

This book is trigger filled, so please don’t take the warnings lightly. This is not a light read. It is DARKER than DARK, it is DEPRAVED, it is TRAUMATIC.. but it is amazing. If you’re looking for a pitch black book that will have you craving more after each page, then this is the book! In saying that, never forget, your mental health matters 🖤

A dark, addictive read with a twisted ending

S.K. Pryntz hit all the marks with this dark, twisted and oh so spicy read.

I was glued to the pages as I dove into the character’s descent into madness. S.K. wrote this with perfection, exhibiting not just the mental psychosis but the hurt, the pain, the thirst for vengeance. The nightmarish events that led to the unexpected ending had my jaw hitting my chest and I loved every single word.

Is this trigger happy? Yes. Is this dark? Yes. Is this taboo? Ohhh yes. Would I read it again? Heck yes. This queen wrote a story with characters that will forever be emblazoned in my mind and a plot that disturbed me yet drew me in like a moth to a flame. My TBR just got fuller with this author’s stories, thanks to this one.

After I read this, I had to go back multiple times to dissect the ending, the twists and everything in between. There were unique aspects about the plot that I haven’t read in other horror novellas, but the writing style was a bit disjointed and a mind bender, especially in the end during the final reveal.

I couldn’t figure out whose point of view it was in the last chapter which made me frustrated, because I wish the twist would have been revealed a bit more clearly.

Nonetheless, it’s safe to say that I am still stunned after everything that happened even if I’m not completely sure of what the story was leading to. This book is good but only in a mind bending way. Other than that, I wasn’t invested in the plot, writing style or characters.
