Callie Clark is determined to start fresh after her husband's death—if only she could shake the guilt, the fear, and the sense that strange things are happening around her house. One thing she knows for certain—even if she wished for a love like her best friends have, she's never falling for a man again.

Ryan Lundy couldn't be happier that his latest job brings him to Red Ridge and his gunslinging friends. He's significantly less thrilled when his quarry leads him straight to a beautiful widow's doorstep—and the inconvenient feelings she's stirring up. This was supposed to be a simple assignment, now it’s anything but.

When danger comes knocking and Callie becomes the target, Ryan discovers that saving her life means breaking all his own rules about keeping things professional. Now he's racing against time to rescue the woman who's turning his world upside down. Can Callie trust her heart to the man risking everything to save her? And more importantly—can Ryan find her before it's too late?

These kisses only books can be enjoyed in any order, but are best read starting with book one.

I enjoyed the book! Ryan was a tracker who was hired to find a pearl necklace and some gold coins. Callie became a widow after her abusive husband died. Their paths crossed as Ryan searched for the items. This book is part of a series but can be read standalone. There are a few references to the previous books in the series but they do not impact the story. I highly recommend reading this book!

I’VE GOT TO TURN THIS INTO A STORY

The story is part of the Red Ridge Chronicles series, set in the area of Red Ridge, Oregon. This is a clean, historical Western tale that explores the good, the bad, and the evil in people. The story takes place in the 1870s, a few hours outside of Red Ridge, Oregon.

“The gunslingers had worked separately and together over the last ten or so years. They kept in touch, always ready at a moment’s notice to join in a job or help a friend.”

Ryan Lundy has earned a reputation as a tracker. He even helped his friends in Red Ridge recover kidnapped victims and bring the kidnappers to justice. He will be contacted by Kyle Woods to help him recover the missing gold coins and his wife’s heirloom pearl necklace. One of the criminals has ties to Red Ridge, so that is where Ryan will be going.

Ryan: This the man you think robbed you?
Kyle: Yes. I know for a fact he runs a gang. A half-dozen men. I have it on good authority that about six months ago, Clint passed the gold and necklace along to a man in Red Ridge, a few hours from here. I just don’t know the fellow’s name who ended up in possession of it, or even what he looks like, only that they are associates. I understand you’re the best tracker around. It sounds like this man might still be there, and that means my wife’s necklace is too. If it’s not, maybe you can pick up the trail.
Ryan: I will. I remember you saying I’d need to head toward Red Ridge. I’ve got friends there. Former gunslingers. One’s the sheriff. You fine if I let them know what’s happening?
Kyle: Sure, sure. Anything that gets my gold and my wife’s necklace back. Her necklace means a lot to her.

The story will have Ryan going to Red Ridge and finding his friend, Gavin Jefferson. He will fill him in on his job and show him the picture of the one man, Clint, that he knows about. It won’t be long before he learns that Clint had a brother, George, who died during the epidemic outbreak. The one factor that Ryan hadn’t figured on was George having a widow, Callie. But it won’t be long before he learns she is oblivious to his late husband’s criminal past, much less where the stolen items would be.

Callie is a woman who feels guilty in some ways that she doesn’t grieve the death of George. The truth is, he changed after they married, and he made threats and even hurt her. Now, she feels like she is being watched, and that when she leaves the house, someone is coming into her home, moving things around, and even taking food. If she shares that information, will she come across as a crazy woman? Meeting Ryan Lundy is surprising and disarming, too. How could one man affect her as he has? Will Ryan, the sheriff, and the other gunslingers be able to solve this crime before someone is hurt? What will happen between Ryan and Callie?

I’m enjoying this series and seeing cameo appearances from people from the previous books. The story is a page-turning tale of good versus evil, along with a sweet, clean love story, and the coveted happily ever after ending. It was another wonderful addition to the series, and this reader is happy to know that there will be at least one more book in the series.

NOTE: I read this book with my paid subscription to Kindle Unlimited.

The Tracker is a story that pulls together mystery, emotional healing, and slow-building romance in a way Sarah Lamb does so well.

Ryan Lundy is a quiet, observant tracker who prefers the shadows, watching rather than being seen. Hired to recover stolen valuables and locate a dangerous gang, his path leads him to Red Ridge—and to Callie Clark.

Callie is a widow carrying complicated grief and unspoken trauma from a marriage that was far different behind closed doors than it appeared to the outside world. She has no plans to marry again, focusing instead on surviving independently and finding solace in writing, though a small part of her still longs for genuine love.

When Ryan realizes that the outlaw he’s tracking looks just like Callie’s late husband, the story takes a tense and unsettling turn. As strange disturbances begin occurring in Callie’s home, the danger feels personal and immediate. Ryan’s role shifts from tracker to protector, even as his feelings for Callie deepen and he begins to question whether a settled life might finally be within reach.

With twists, emotional depth, and a strong sense of danger, The Tracker kept me fully engaged. It’s a really good read and another reminder of why I enjoy Sarah Lamb’s books so much.

The Tracker is a beautifully written historical Christian fiction novel that delivers the perfect balance of adventure, romance, and heartfelt faith. From the very first pages, I was drawn into Ryan Lundy’s mission to track down stolen gold and a priceless necklace for a wealthy client. What begins as a straightforward assignment quickly turns into a meaningful journey of purpose and redemption. Ryan’s search leads him to Red Ridge, home to his loyal bounty hunter friends, adding depth, camaraderie, and excitement to the story. But the true treasure he discovers there is Callie Clark. Their connection is tender and compelling, and Ryan's desire to help mend Callie’s broken spirit adds a powerful emotional and spiritual layer to the plot. The romance is sweet and sincere, perfectly complementing the action and suspense. If you enjoy historical fiction with strong Christian values, engaging characters, and a satisfying mix of romance and adventure, The Tracker is a must-read. I couldn’t put it down and would gladly read more stories set in this world!

The wonderful Red Ridge Chronicles series just keeps getting better with each heartwarming addition! I thoroughly enjoyed the first four installments featuring the gunslingers, and I was excited to see their tracker friend Ryan get his own story. It absolutely lived up to my expectations! The well-paced, captivating storyline packed with action, emotion, and a bit of suspenseful danger drew me in immediately, and along with wonderful characters and a tender, slow burn romance, kept me reading to the end without interruption. Ryan and Callie are a beautifully crafted pair. I love them individually and as a couple who are truly meant for each other. I highly recommend this engaging, satisfying read and the series. I look forward to the next Red Ridge adventure!
I read an early copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such an exciting, adventurous book! Callie married a man whom she really didn’t know very well. He abused her every day, so, she really couldn’t be blamed for being glad that she was widowed, suddenly. But, someone or something is banging around the outside of her house at night. She catches sight of two men one night.
Ryan Lundy, a tracker, hired to find a pearl necklace and silver, is glad when his current job takes him to Red Ridge. His old friends live there and it just feels like “home” when he comes to visit them. The exact spot that Ryan believes might be the place where the collection is stashed is Callie’s house! When Ryan and Callie meet they each feel like they’re meant for each other.
So much adventure, the thrill of real love, the perfect story. I was on the arc team and am not required to write a positive review. This review is my own personal opinion. 📕♥️

What a great story! Ryan is one of a group of men who have traveled together and been long time friends. When Ryan's job takes him to Red Ridge he is reunited with his friends who have all married and settled down. Ryan is a little jealous and starting to feel like he might like to have a home of his own.
Callie is a widow who had a rough marriage and has vowed to never remarry. Unfortunately she lands right in the middle of Ryan's job.
such a good read. There is plenty of danger and lots of light hearted moments. I throughly enjoyed this book.

I love the characters in this story, especially since those from previous books are included. From the very first page, I was captivated by Callie's journey. There's a swoon-worthy love interest, dangerous men, and a chance for someone who has been deeply hurt to start anew. Sarah Lamb effortlessly draws the reader into the story and the lives of the characters. Each book in this series is outstanding and just as good as the one before it. I can't wait for the next installment!

Good Guys, Bad Guys, and Beautiful Women

You certainly do not have to read this series from the beginning to enjoy each individual tale, but it does put things into context as you meet new people. However, each story is better than the last, no matter what order you read them in! Sarah Lamb has a deft touch with characters and feelings and, in a few words, she puts you right in the middle of the action. Short and sweet, the perfect bonbon to start your new year!

Callie doesn’t know her husband had a brother but about to find out. Will Ryan find the necklace? Will Callie get away from her ex-husband family? I love this series, lot of great characters. The Tracker brings us back to Red Ridge and some familiar friends. Callie is a widow and hides the fact that she is happy to be one. Her husband George was a bad guy. Ryan is book in town, tracking down a lead for stolen gold and a cherished necklace. Ryan loves his job, but has been thinking he wants more, when he sees his old friends in Red Ridge. He meets Callie and he is blown away. He has a job to do first, but could she be the one. Callie is ashamed of herself and has sworn off love. What happens next? You have to read the book to find out, but you won't be disappointed.
I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review.
