Once high school sweethearts, they are now separated by seventeen years of silence, and she still doesn't know why.
Tyler Brady has been living his teenage dream as the lead guitarist of the scandalous band The Deviant. But now that the band is on hiatus, a summons from his mother brings him back to his hometown in Coachella Valley. He's finally forced to face the one person he hurt most—Naomi Medina, the woman he left without a word seventeen years ago.
Internationally acclaimed chef Naomi Medina returned home a few years ago to care for her ailing father, trading the spotlight for the quiet comfort of running her restaurant at the local casino. The last thing she needs is Tyler Brady showing up at her father's funeral, stirring up feelings she thought she'd buried forever.
Tyler knows he doesn't deserve forgiveness, but he's determined to make amends and prove he's not the same selfish kid who broke her heart. Naomi wants nothing to do with the man who shattered her world, yet the chemistry between them burns as hot as ever.
With old wounds reopened and undeniable attraction pulling them together, Tyler and Naomi must decide if love is worth the risk of getting hurt again.
Can seventeen years of pain be healed by second chances, or are some hearts too broken to mend?

Resurrection is the third installment in The Deviant Hearts series and can be read as a standalone. The book deals with sensitive subjects like bullying, substance abuse, and gun violence.
N.N. Britt is a Los Angeles-based music journalist and photographer. Her photos have graced T-shirts, billboards, and CD covers. She pens realistic, thought-provoking novels about today's world of art and music and the flawed people who live in it. When she's not writing or drinking coffee, she's probably reading or attending a heavy metal show.
Resurrection is a second chance rock star romance. Naomi and Tyler have been apart for seventeen years so their first meeting gave some good tension. Tyler has to make up for how and the way he left Naomi. The story switch between present time and flashbacks. Overall it’s a great story but I needed more resentment or that the tension between Naomi and Tyler lasted longer. I felt she gave in too quickly. Still the chemistry was fab. I also needed more depth to the characters since I felt I only got to scratch the surface of their story. Both their parents were awesome and Naomi’s brother added some light drama. If you’re into a hero who fight to get his childhood sweetheart back and doesn’t give up then this is the book for you. It can be read as a standalone.
Before I started reading Resurrection I had high expectations. I’ve read other creative novels by N.N. Britt before and love The Deviant series (and characters)! So, the bar was pretty high already. As I expected, I loved Resurrection! It’s the third book in the Deviant series and can be read alone, but I do recommend starting from the first book or prequel. This one tells the story from both the present and the past; each chapter indicates which period it is.
From the first page, Resurrection, is interesting and entertaining. It begins with us officially meeting Tyler. His style and personality are shown clearly from the very beginning. Then we meet Naomi, and side characters — her brother Adri, their parents, and Tyler’s parents. Again, their personalities shine through. Each of the characters, even the parents, are well-built and develops throughout the novel.
There’s not a specific timeline but right away I was able to tell that the past was in the nineties when grunge was insanely popular. The way the author indirectly describes Ty’s room in the past is so relatable! I love it when an author shows instead of telling. I remember my own bedroom full of posters of many different bands like boy bands, Metallica, Pearl Jam, (my fave) Nirvana, and more. So it gave me a nostalgic feeling. As well as the clothing the characters wore in the past and present. I could visualize it easily, especially since I wore similar clothes in the past haha. I was able to relate to the two main characters as teens and as adults since I’m in my thirties as well. I like novels more when the characters are relatable, so she did a great job at that.
The story is very interesting and a page turner. I married my high school sweetheart, so I’m a sucker for stories that are about first loves and if they reunite exes. I like the way the novel progresses. It’s a smooth pace and doesn’t feel rushed or anything. The characters grow at a good pace as well. I love how well NN Britt shows readers the awkward firsts in a relationship, as teens and adults too.
I love the smooth writing. I was able to play out the novel in my mind like a movie. I felt many different emotions while reading…happy, sad, mad, shocked, and even teared up a bit. If you’ve read anything by NN Britt you know she is great at making you feel your emotions while reading. Ty replaced Chance in the band and while that was only mentioned a few times, I love that she included it in the novel and expressed Ty’s emotions about it.
I first read NN Britt’s writing more than 6 years ago when I read an advanced reader copy of Rapture. She has evolved as a writer throughout the years. She has left me wanting more with each novel in this series and again with Resurrection! I love the characters, the storyline, the shocking part near the ending had me on the edge of my seat—I definitely didn’t expect that!!
There is only one negative thing that kind of bugged me throughout the novel, and I think this is more of a personal bug than anything. I don’t understand why Ty uses Naomi’s full name the majority of the time when thinking about her. More than 25 times I read “Naomi Medina”. But, as I said, it’s just a personal bug.
Resurrection was another page turner and it made me like all of the characters even more than I did from the beginning, especially Ty and Adri! It left me wanting more from Ty and Naomi, a book about Adri, and it would even be neat to have a spin-off about Phoenix Down! When you have readers wanting a book about the side characters (even the small ones), you know the author is just that great!
I absolutely look forward to reading more in this series and many more novels from the amazing NN Britt! Needless to say, I highly recommend reading this novel, and the others in this series!!
I loved so much about this book. Such a great second chance/rockstar romance. The perfect amount of tension. The right amount of drama. Chemistry was on point! My favorite part of any second chance romance is when the character that is holding out finally turns to towards the other and gives in. That moment in Resurrection between Naomi and Tyler was well deserved and felt so right. It was tender and I felt it in my bones. Highly recommend!
Rockstar romance and second chances blend together in NN Britt's amazing Deviant Hearts series, book three. Resurrection is guitarist Tyler Brady's story with snarky international chef, Naomi Medina. First loves, first everything, and first heartbreak for both. But even so, there's so much more of their story to discover here.
I was curious about Tyler and his backstory and loved reading his POV the most. His thoughts on the life he left home for, and the parts of it he could have done without. The tangled artifical web that was LA, the music scene and becoming a famous musician when his big break finally came after being chosen to replace the iconic, original Deviant guitarist. Now on hiatus from his band, he's free to explore his own interests outside of their tight-knit circle. First up, going back to his home town to face the consequences of his younger self's actions and see what his next move should be.
"It’s like she tied me to this town with some invisible rope. And I don't plan on leaving until we figure things out. The main question is, where and how do I start?"
How he was going to repair his broken promises to Naomi had been circling around in Tyler's mind for 17 years. Could the girl he still loved ever forgive him for leaving their dreams behind to chase his own? Can damaged hearts be healed when trust has been lost?
I enjoyed learning about them through their own POVs in present time and in flashbacks to the past where it all began. Naomi's strength, determination, and resilience have guided her through tough times and heartbreaks in life, Tyler being the biggest one of all. There's someone else who seemed to dislike Tyler even more- his former best friend- Naomi's protective older brother, Adrian. He was an angry, puzzling, broken guy, which had me thinking he might need a story of his own one day.
Tyler and Naomi's second chance to get it right is slow to catch fire again after so much time and distance has passed between them. They may be older now, but all those raw, angsty emotions are still waiting to be acknowledged and soothed. For Naomi, it's hurt, anger and unexplained broken promises, while Tyler's been living with the guilt and regret for his actions since he left his 18 year-old life behind.
Leaving LA and heading back to another time and place started a chain-reaction rekindling that was hot and sweet and felt meant to be. Naomi put Tyler through his paces with much needed groveling that took quite a few unexpected fun, entertaining turns, but brought them closer together. Shockers and suspenseful twists I didn't see coming rounded out their second chance romance. Tyler and Naomi's slow burn turned up the heat and their HEA, years in the making, finally found it's way back home again.
Will there be more books in NN Britt's Deviant Hearts world? I sure hope Resurrection isn't THE END! This author writes from the heart and I've really loved getting to know these characters in the many stages of their lives and the stories she creates around them. She's been a go-to author for me for many years and a new book from her always feels a gift I can't wait to open, especially with another smoldering hot cover to drool over as I read along!
* I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest and freely given review of Resurrection.
I really have loved this author’s rock romances in the past and this book was another great addition to my five star reads from her. It was a great second chance romance that was written in the past/present form which this author brought out some great authenticity of the time. Naomi had her heart broken the last time by Tyler now they are crossing paths again and things are about to change on the way to their HEA.

Resurrection is the 3rd book in the Deviant Hearts Series by N.N. Britt.
There's always something so special about reconnecting and rediscovering that there's still a spark of love with your first love that you thought you had lost and would never see again. The one person you've always known as well as you've known as well as you know yourself, even after almost two decades apart, your reminded that the heart never forgets. The connection you feel again, it's so comfortable it's like you've come back home.
From childhood throughout high school Tyler and Naomi had always been neighbors, and more than that they had always been drawn together. They started off as friends and allowed their relationship to more into something far deeper and something far more special.
Tyler would have given Naomi anything she wanted or needed, and Naomi knew that she would have followed Tyler anywhere on earth including to the end of the very earth. As is the way with so many teenage relationships, Tyler and Naomi end up going their own separate ways and in separating both their hearts are shattered and they drag the pieces of their shattered and broken hearts into adulthood, working to build their individual lives on their own.
Resurrection takes place as Naomi and Tyler are slowly brought back together through forces neither of them see coming and a fate that is working to correct a wrong that happened so many years ago. The twist of fate that neither of them can or would prefer to ever ignore.
N.N. Britt has managed to perfectly captivate all the struggles that come with a first love. From all those awkward firsts, the heartwarming moments, the judgments and well-meaning parents pass on to their kids. Britt is able to enthrall her readers in as Tyler finally opens up to Naomi and swears that he's not going to make the same mistakes over again. The way that Tyler grovels and yearns for Naomi is stunning. And even after 17 years apart you can still tell that their chemistry is as strong as ever and that the foundations of their relationship that had been there all those years ago has weathered all the storms of time and distance.
Britt has given us a beautiful and heartbreaking second chance romance that is balanced with teenage heartbreak and a hard-fought hope interwoven. While reading this I could feel the very ache Tyle and Naomi were feeling, and it's a stark yet soft reminder that while feelings can fade, love is eternal and everlasting. The flashbacks to the past were a brilliant addition to the story and I found the pacing spot on perfect. And after being reunited I could completely understand why Naomi would want to take things slowly. (I would have felt and acted the exact same way).
I found Resurrection to be this dazzlingly emotional story focused around forgiveness, time, and a love that will never crumble.
This book is perfect for anyone who love a second chance story with real chemistry between the characters. I look forward to reading what ever N.N. Britt writes next. I love her literary voice as it is tender and so very easy to connect with.
"What if I fall for him again?" "...But what if this time is different?"
"What if I fall for him again?" "...But what if this time is different?"
There's something extra sensual about rediscovering an old spark in a love that was lost. You know the person almost as well as you know yourself - even after all that time away, your heart never forgets. In fact, it feels comfortable, like coming home.
Naomi and Tyler were drawn together as neighbors throughout high school. Their relationship grew from neighbors to friends to something far more. He'd have given her anything, and she would have followed him to the ends of the earth. As many teenage relationships do, they separated and dragged their broken hearts into adulthood, building their lives alone. This story takes place as Naomi and Tyler are drawn together in a twist of fate that neither would prefer to ignore.
The author perfectly captured the struggle of a first love. The awkward firsts, the heartwarming moments, and the judgment that well-meaning parents pass on to their kids. She draws the reader in as Tyler opens up and vows not to make the same mistake again. I love a man with a guitar who also knows how to grovel and yearn. Their chemistry is undeniable; the foundation of their relationship weathered the storms of distance and time.
In this second-chance romance, Britt's writing balances young heartbreak with hard-fought hope so beautifully. You may feel the ache of the young couple, but also a soft reminder that feelings may fade, but love never will. I loved the flashbacks to the past but felt that the pacing could have moved a bit faster knowing the characters already had a strong history. Still, I completely understand Naomi's need to take things slowly (I'd have been the same way).
Resurrection is an emotional story about forgiveness, time, and the kind of love that refuses to crumble. Perfect for readers who love second-chances with real chemistry. I look forward to exploring Britt's other works and seeing what she writes next - her voice is tender and easy to connect with. I appreciate NetGalley, N. N. Britt, and Victory Editing Co-Op for the opportunity to read and share my honest thoughts!

ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This story moves between the past and present, and I was definitely getting late 90’s / early 2000’s The All-American Rejects vibes from it. I really enjoyed the beginning of this book!
We follow Tyler, the guitar player for The Deviant, who travels back to his hometown after a phone call from his mom. There’s Naomi and Adri - siblings. Naomi was Tyler’s high school sweetheart (and now ex) who he left 17 years ago to pursue music in L.A. Adri and Tyler were best friends back then, but now that Tyler’s back in town, there’s no love lost in that friendship.
Can Tyler make up for the past 17 years and prove to Naomi that he’s changed, or will he once again choose music over her? There’s just one secret she doesn’t know about the past…
Once the truth was exposed, it completely threw me off. I think it was just the wrong place and wrong time for that reveal it shifted the tone and pacing for the rest of the story. I also found myself skimming or skipping through some of the spicy scenes.
Overall, I love The Deviant series, and Tyler’s story gave us more insight into what shaped him into who he was while on tour with the band. It was nice to finally be inside his head a bit and see things from his perspective.
Quick Summary: A sealed with a kiss, second chance, rocker romance
My Review: Resurrection by N.N. Britt is book #3 in the Deviant Hearts series. It was released on 11/13/25.
About the Book: "Once high school sweethearts, they are now separated by seventeen years of silence, and she still doesn't know why."
In My Own Words: Going back to face the first and only woman he ever loved, a rocker puts his heart on the line.
My Final Say: Tyler and Naomi were two people who had a great beginning, a messy end, and an up and down reconciliation story. The reason for their split was not simple, but it was not majorly complicated either. Based on the clues involving their relationship and with regard to associated events, I figured out, pretty easily, what happened, contributing to the three-way rift that was present. The third act activity was unexpectedly expected.
Thank you to the author, to the publisher (Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op), and to NetGalley for granting access to a digital ARC of this title in exchange for an honest critique. I appreciate the opportunity to review this work.
"What if I fall for him again?" I ask, feeling the knot in my stomach tightening. "What if he breaks my heart all over again?" "But what if this time is different?" she counters, ever the optimist. "There must be a reason why you two keep crossing paths."
Resurrection is book 3 in the author's Deviant Hearts linked standalone series, set around a rock group and their life and loves. This is Tyler and Naomi's story.
What To Expect:
❣️MF rockstar romance ❣️Second chance ❣️First love ❣️It was always you ❣️All the chemistry ❣️Spicy times ❣️Angsty ❣️HEA
Tyler and Naomi have a long, complicated history, and now Ty is finally back home. He’s not sure how long he’s staying, but he’s determined to see Naomi and apologize for walking away seventeen years ago. Throughout this very slow-burn story, Ty keeps saying how much he missed her—yet he never reached out, even while he was in other serious relationships. Naomi, now a chef with her own restaurant after working in New York, seems to have never truly moved on the way Tyler did. The narrative shifts between past and present, but neither timeline offers much momentum. The present is filled with family dinners, conversations that circle the same topics, and Adri—Naomi’s older brother, a drunken cop with serious anger issues about Ty’s return. Halfway through, I found myself a bit bored, waiting for something meaningful to happen. Eventually, everything comes out, the tension resolves, and Naomi and Ty finally move forward. The ending is satisfying, and overall, I’m giving it three stars.
This was an emotional rollercoaster ride that had my heart breaking only to mend it back together again piece by piece. Rockstar romance is angsty in general but N.N. Britt takes it to a whole new level of hurt. With unexpected turns the story held my rapt attention eager for the HEA.
Tyler and Naomi's story flows in a dual timeline we get glimpses from their past to the present which elevated the angst and overall heartache from their young first love and the time and distance doing little to reignite their passion and love for one another.

Thank you NetGalley and N.N. Britt for the opportunity to read this eARC.
Rockstar romances are my favourite. Tyler had lots of grovelling to do and I was glad that Naomi didn’t let him off the hook easily. At times I felt the story drag, but the steamy scenes made up for it. I didn’t read the other books in this series, so I’ll have to go back and read them.
Tyler and Naomi were high school sweethearts and planned to move to LA after graduation, but Tyler ended up going by himself to pursue his music career. Seventeen years later, Naomi is a chef at their hometown casino. Tyler became a rockstar and while his band is on hiatus, he returns home to try and make things right with Naomi. Will they be able to overcome the secrets of their past? Or will they go their separate ways?

Second chance rockstar romance with ‘the one that got away’… or was it ‘the one he threw away’…
Splitting between past and present, you get an idea of the timeline, but the separation is loooonnngggg… 17 years, and he didn’t even try??? A phone call, and that’s it?
I liked the secondary characters, but Adri…. you did her dirty, and I kind of lost all respect. Add in the quick ‘forgiveness’, and I was kind of annoyed.
I did like the epilogue, but seeing what they were doing and how they were doing would be welcome.
Resurrection is the third story in the Deviant Hearts series. It is a second chance rockstar romance.
Naomi and Tyler were neighbors in high school. Their relationship grew from a friendship to a relationship. They separated and grew into adults who were both broken hearted. Tyler had left to pursue his music career. He is back home for his mom.
Will Naomi and Tyler get back together again after so much time apart?
Tyler left Naomi years ago chasing his dream of becoming a famous rock star. Seventeen years later he returns wanting a second chance with his high school sweetheart. After a rocky start and some twists and turns their dreams do come true. I liked this book and how the author gave us insite to the past as well as the present.
I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed this one. Second chance romance with all the heartbreak that goes along with it. I liked all of the characters and was rooting for the MMC & FMC to work through their issues for that HEA. This author has a way of making me feel completely immersed in the world of the characters and this book was no different. Add in rockstar and family drama to add to the story and I was happy.
I like reading second-chance rockstar romance. 17 years before they see each other again, Naomi and Tyler had a lot to work out. I was with this couple every step of their way. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I'm getting ready to read the beginning of this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Enjoyed Ty and Naomi's story. How 2 people who were high school sweethearts can get together after 17 years of being apart is amazing, especially when Ty left Naomi waiting to leave with him for LA and him never saying goodbye or anything else. Quite a few twists and turns in the book.
What a wonderful story. True love is beautiful. We all need a Ty. There were quite a few twists which made for a very delightful read. All turns out well in the end. Thank you BookSprout for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you like a second chance romance, then you need to add this book to your TBR! It’s a really good second chance story, with a plot twist that I didn’t see coming. One of my top reads this month.
A second chance rockstar romance - count me in! This did not disappoint. I liked getting glimpses into the past to see how Naomi and Tyler got together and what happened to split them up. Naomi made Tyler work for it and he was happy to out the work in. A great second chance romance - I would have liked an epilogue more in the future on how these two were doing.
