This was not my favorite installment to the series and not my favorite book by Jarica James. I felt like it was not long enough to really flesh out the relationships between Aries and her men. Also Aries came off as wishy washy with her feelings and too stubborn for her own good. I still liked it and will continue on with the series.

Aries is book four book In the Beware Of The Widows Series, which is a multi-author, interconnected series. It is a dark, contemporary, second chance, why choose, omegaverse romance. The story is told in first person with multiple POV.

Aries entire life has been one huge hellscape. The only bright spot in her life was the memory of her alpha, Nikolai. While she heals from the trauma of her past in the town that her and her friends founded to help traumatized omegas and betas, she finds her scent matched beta, Leon. But what happens when her alpha, who has been looking for her for over a decade, finally finds her? Will she accept him and his pack? Or will she reject them and have her HEA with her beta?

Aries is a strong FMC, that I absolutely loved. The relationship between her and Leon was so sweet. The trauma and healing aspect of the story was heartbreaking and emotional. The connection that Aries and Nikolai had, that stood the test of time, was amazing. Nikolai and his pack's, Ronan and Luca's, persistence and determination in finding Aries was truly heartwarming. The chemistry and spice between them all was sizzling, and the relationship development was fabulously done. The accomplishments by Aries and her friends, the sanctuary that they established, was amazing and I loved how protective the guys were with Aries and the town.

This was such a terrific omegaverse read. The writing, pace, plot, and flow of the story were amazing, as were the characters, storytelling, storyline, and world building.

If you are looking for a great omegaverse read with trauma and healing vibes, and a HEA, then I'd definitely recommend this book.

Thank you so very much to Jarica James for the ARC; all thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

I am irrationally angry about this book. It started off so good, and I was really enjoying it… until they actually met. It took half the book for them to meet up, and instead of happiness and love, we got a whole lot of poor communication, stubbornness, and misplaced anger.

There was no romance or relationship building, just occasional moments of lust and then more fighting and pushing away. Luca was the only one who seemed to be decent, and he legit didn’t interact with Aries for more than a moment until at least 80% of the way through the book.

The side plot line with the Crows was annoying and stupid. I felt like things worked out way too easily with the dad and them being able to stay in Widows Peak, and I’m baffled how none of them considered Alessio being the mole. Also, for a town where Syrus the sheriff checks out every newcomer, how were all these random men (especially alphas) able to just waltz in, go to the gym, and do recon so easily? That didn’t make any sense to me.

Lastly, I really disliked the final chapter being from Nikolai’s POV. That was our only group / heat scene, and we just watched it from the outside since Nikolai wasn’t even part of it. Plus, it diminished the moment of Ronan and Aries bonding. I love Nikolai and feel like he kind of got a raw deal once he was reunited with Aries, but I don’t think that was the right choice for closing out the book.

I loved the first two books in this series and have been pretty let down by Aries and Lark, but I’ll try again with the next one to see if it comes back!

Pieces clicking into place.

A dark RH omegaverse.

This book tells the story of a young couple who are suddenly and unfairly torn apart.
Instead of finally being able to move forward together, they have to fight to find each other again. When they finally reunite, everything has changed except for the powerful bond that first brought them together.

But now it’s no longer just the two of them — after so much time apart, life has brought a few blessings along the way, and they’re very well deserved.

In this RH, we have very different MMCs: a survivor Beta and three Alpha MMCs — the fighter, the brain, and the boss.
Our Alpha MMCs are the right kind of wrong. Even though they’re morally gray, they have strong values and don’t hesitate to get their hands dirty to uphold them.

We also have a fierce Omega FMC whose life has never been easy — she has faced a great deal of cruelty and injustice from a very young age.
She decided she would never allow herself to feel helpless again and worked toward that goal, while also becoming someone who could offer strength and support to others in need.

I’d consider this book a medium burn — you have to keep in mind that they’ve been through a lot — but once things start heating up, it becomes wonderfully steamy.

The book gives us an ending “this is only the beginning”, but one of the wonderful things about this series is that, in the following books, we could get glimpses of the HEA of our MCs.

Book four in the Beware of the Widows shared world series gives us Aries’s story and while it’s still dark, it’s definitely the least dark of the series so far.

This story explores lost love, second chances, trauma bonding, found family, and learning how to live and love again after everything falls apart. It starts at a slower pace, taking time to establish character history, backstories, and the reconnection between everyone, but it really pays off once everything comes together.

It also felt a little different structurally, as we spend quite a bit of time exploring Nikolai’s story before shifting back into Aries’s POV. But honestly, I enjoyed getting that extra depth.

And Aries? I loved her. She may be timid and anxious, but she’s also an absolute badass when it counts. The girl can seriously kick ass.

I also loved the pack dynamic. The banter, chemistry, and connection between everyone was so good, and the spice was perfection 🔥 I honestly would have loved even more of their pack life together or an epilogue because I wasn’t ready to leave them yet.

Such a great addition to this amazing series, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

✨What to expect:

💞 Second Chance Romance
🖤 Found Family

This one lands solidly in 4-star territory for me.

There’s something quietly comforting about returning to Widows Peak, like stepping into a well-built sanctuary where you already know the layout and the emotional stakes. The premise had all the ingredients I usually devour, protective dynamics, healing from past trauma, complicated bonds, and that pull of fate threading everything together.

That said, this story just… didn’t quite spark for me the way I expected. Nothing was wrong, but nothing fully grabbed hold either. The romance simmered more than it sizzled, and while the emotional beats were there, they didn’t hit as deeply as I wanted them to. It felt like watching a storm gather that never quite breaks.

I did really enjoy the dynamic between the characters, especially the foundation of trust between her and Emmett. That friendship to more thread had a lot of heart, and the addition of Aiden and Sloane brought in some intriguing tension and softness. I just wish those connections had been pushed a little further emotionally.

Even though this one didn’t hit as hard as others in the series, I’m still fully ready for whatever comes next. Jarica James is an auto-read author for me, and her worlds always have a way of pulling me back in, even when a particular installment doesn’t completely click.

Not my favorite, but still a worthwhile read, especially if you’re already invested in the series.

When Aries was a newly presenting omega, her mother arranged for her to be sold for her own gain and never gave her a second thought, leaving her scent matched alpha Nickolai to scour the earth for her for years. He never gave up on her. He doesn’t realize she has escaped her own hell and found a group of friends who work together to protect others like them. She’s now a survivor, teaching others how to survive and fight back. Nickolai buries himself in fighting/boxing while he searches, ultimately discovering he has a half-brother named Roman and connecting with Luca through his brother. These men provide him the family he has always needed and lacked. Their energy is unique, sometimes funny, sometimes serious in light of the criminal work they are involved in. Their moral compass may be a little grey, but they are not involved in human trafficking, and it’s the discovery of a group of victims that leads the men back to Aries when the women need a safe place to settle. They’re surprised to find she’s not alone, and they’ll also have to win over Leon, a reluctant beta and the final member of their pack.

This book needed more

I have been enjoying this series and Jerica is a new to me author. Unfortunately for me this story was probably an 3.75 rating.

I loved Nikokai and Aries bond when they were younger. He was so good to her and their life would have been hard but beautiful. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. Him ending up with the crows kind of weird but it was okay.

I absolutely understood the quick bonding once they were reunited but unfortunately there was not much relationship building in this story. There was confusion, miscommunication, and sudden bonding but with nothing to build on.

How in the world would did an unknown b alpha get into Widows Peak because that has never been possible before and no one brought that up. From the time these men showed up till the end of this book felt rushed. I also think the last guy got a pity bonding because it was barely spotlighted.

I am left with a lot of questions about how this is going to work and how the father was just like yeah sure move to Colorado I don't care. At least Lark's men made their situation v work for them this one just waved a magic wand so everything was suddenly fine.

Aries, like her chosen sisters, has turned her pain into purpose, Her childhood and early adulthood were centered around frequent and continued abuse. Tortured by her mother and ripped away from her scent matched alpha on the cusp of her designation awakening, Aries has long felt vulnerable and helpless. Determined to be her own savior, she channels her anger and fear into learning to defend herself; she then channels that knowledge into teaching others the same.

Fates align and just as she finds a new scent match, her past shakes the foundation of her future. It is a story of second chances and new beginnings. And I had a really good time watching this brave and confident omega putting the men in her life through their paces.

I do wish this had been a bit longer, as the brevity diminished the emotional impact. I wanted to dive a bit deeper into the Crows and the fledgling bond that grows with their omega. Regardless, this was a fun time and was a very sweet story with a lot of heart. I hope you will take a chance on Aries when her story releases in April 30th.

Aries is part of the Beware the Widows series and is written by Jarica James.

💜 hurtful pasts
💜 found family
💜 alphas, omegas, and betas
💜 scent matches
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

Aries stood in horror as she realized that she finally presented the day before her eighteenth birthday. There was no doubt, she was an omega. And that was going to be a problem if her mother figured it out, because she already threatened her if she was an omega. Aries knew she needed to get out and to her best friend as quick as she could. He would know what to do. Would it be possible? Could she make it out before her mother realized that she was now an omega? What will she do to keep herself safe?

This was a good addition to this series. Yes, I loved how the world building continued with this omega’s story. I also love how we got to see her backstory along with Nikolai’s story with it. I feel like it made this so much richer. This series has proven to be really fun and you never know what’s going to happen. I kept coming back to read this book as much as I could because it kept drawing me in.

Second chance

Check triggers before reading.

Aries is an omega. Leaving her life with her drunk mother who beats her, her friend Nikolai (alpha) decides to run away with her.
Aries and Nikolai have been friends for years but he feels more than that to her.
Aries whilst working at the diner before fleeing with Nikolai, gets kidnapped by alphas and taken. The day she designated she was taken.

Four years later, Nikolai is still searching for Aries and finds out he has a half brother, Ronan. He also meets Luca, Ronan’s best friend and pack mate.

Twelve years later, Aries fled Gideon’s mansion with the girls and planted roots in Widows Peak. She owns the gym and gives self-defense classes to omegas and betas.
She meets Leon who is a beta and realises they are scent matches. Taking it slow they have a relationship.

Nikolai, Ronan & Luca take some omegas to Widow’s Peak after a job saving them and they see Aries.

Loved the characters and the second chance relationship between Aries and Nikolai. Jarica is a new author to me.

Amazing Read

I love this series as a whole so far. The first two books give you a good idea of the relationships between the women individually and as a group. Aries is always the one everyone comes to to learn to protect themselves and it is one of those really nice niche parts of their group. I like that while Silva has Lexi as her best friends, Lark has Luna as her best friend and Aries is tighter with Briar.

Aries struggle is one many women know all too well. Trafficked, missing their past, being forced to grow and wondering what happened to those they used to know. Nilolai's struggle is also one many people know when their loved ones are kidnapped and they pray the cops or authority have information or that they find them. Their story together is one many people know, manipulative parents who get away with abuse, wanting a better life for each other, plans to leave at legal age and never come back, only for circumstances to change on a whim.

This book was great. I look forward to Luna and Briar wrapping up the series well ❤️

Aries

Aries is the 4 installment in the 6 book series Beware of the Widows. Each book is about a omega who survived the cruelest world and comes out on top as a bad*** female lead.

Aries just presented as an omega while her childhood best friend Nickolai presents alpha. These two are scent matches and what should have been the happiest time turns dark. When her own mother sells her to a trafficking ring. Once she and the others are free becomes a path of pain and struggle. Aries rebuilds herself piece by piece and becomes the fiercest, strongest, sassiest female omega. Re-entering her life is Nickolai bringing with him Roman, Luca and Leon. These 4 help Aries remind love and light in ths dark world she lives in.

This is a reverse harem omegaverse featuring brothers. There is mentions of trafficking, trauma, spice, and lots of action for this found family to get their HEA.

I cant wait to see the next Omega in her book.

So this story starts out before Aries is k!dn@pped and becomes part of the Widows of widow Peak.

Her story in the beginnig made me want to cry. What she goes through is just so sad and tramatizing. I felt like she was delt one of the worst life with a mother that was trash.

Her bestfriend and Alpha Nikolai was just a good Alpha who wanted to help her escape. While he is trying to get them a place she is at work when she is k!dn@pped right behind her work.

Nik went through so much to try and find her and never gave up. Met his half-brother and became pack with him and his packmate.

more foward and Aries now runs a defince place and meets Leon, who also has been through he!!. I absolutally love Leon and I am glad Aries and Nik reunite.

This was a good short read

I am absolutely loving every book in this Beware the Widows shared world. The authors make it all so seamless and every books flows well together as we all get to meet each and every one of the Widow omegas, learn their story, meet their pack and just enjoy this wonderful town that they built.

In this book we meet Aries. Aries story hurt me a little. She came into her designation as an omega and then she’s gone. Her best friend, Nikolai searched for years to find her. Years later they’ve found each other seemingly by accident and their story on developing from friends to lovers was quick and very on brand with Jarica’s type of storyline.

Jarica’s omegaverse stories always hook me in from beginning to end and this book is no different. Slightly dark but more dark themes throughout as the guys are mafia.

The Widows strike again, this time with Jarica bringing us Aries' story!

Aries and Nikolai have a traumatic shared beginning, and I really liked that we got so much depth in the backstory. Nik struggles for so long while trying to find his omega again, while she survives Gideon's plans and works to build a life alongside the other Widows. Ronan and Luca are the other alphas in the pack and they are both adorable in their own ways! Leon is a beta that came to Widow's Peak looking for a safe, new start. I really enjoyed getting to see different aspects of the guys' personalities come out in different circumstances, and I loved seeing Aries overcome her trauma to accept that she could have a happy pack.

This book is part of the Beware of the Widows series. There are 6 books in this series. If you love strong and sassy omegas, this is the series for you!
The beginning of this story had me in tears, I felt so sad and helpless, I just wanted to reach in and help the FMC in any way I could. She is just so strong and I love that about her. I want nothing but good things for her. I really love the MMCs. The first love, the leader, the protector and the traumatized one. This was a wonderful read and I was sorry when it ended. I would love to have a glimpse of what their future holds.
Thank you, Jarica James, for this traumatic, dark and smexy story. I loved this introduction to your writing. I also look forward to exploring other books you have written.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I just loved this book so much. I love when authors come together like this and create a world where you can read one interconnected standalone or all of them. Aries was my first book in this series and wow , i loved every second of it. It was action-packed and filled with plenty of steam , twists and got me so excited for the other ladies that I have met in this book. I am so intrigued by them all and I can't wait to see more of them and this amazing world that is in the beware of the widows series. I fell for all of Aries guys but I definitely have more of a soft spot for Leon. Amazing five star read that I would definitely recommend if you love your omegaverse with a touch more d@rk themes , I loved every second.

Aries is a super strong omega who runs a gym and teaches self defense. She’s not meek and defenseless.

I honestly would’ve been happy with just her and Leon having their own story but the Alphas were obsessed and devoted from the moment they finally found her.

I loved that Aries leaned on Leon after meeting her other scent matches. She leans heavily on him even though they haven’t known each other for long.

We got a lot from the alphas, there were so many different sides to them, the dark brooding, quick wit, good laughs all of it came together.

Can’t wait for the next in the series!!

Oh my heart! The second chance nature of Aries was amazing, and the way it was written resulted in a very slow burn for the book overall but with very high levels of anticipation for the reunion! I really liked getting to see Nik’s experience and how the events that took place shaped him. I would have liked to see more 1:1 connection between Aries and the members of her pack. Some of it felt a little glossed over despite the typical fast-nature of omegaverse scent matches. The angst was perfect and I loved seeing how bad@ss Aries was and how her tough-guy pack members were absolutely in awe of her!

Aries was another win for the Beware The Widows series. I enjoy everything Jarica writes, this was no different. Aries was just trying to make it through one final shift at work then she could escape with Nik. Of course even the best plans don’t always go according to plan. I could feel Nik’s anguish over Aries disappearance. Aries made it her mission to become a strong woman who could fight back then teach others how to do the same. I admire her strength. I loved her friendship with Briar and Leon’s possessiveness. This is a standalone, but I do recommend reading the others in this series.

Aries❤️❤️❤️

I absolutely loved Aries….I’m not sure if I’ve read anything by this author before, but I will certainly be adding her to my list of authors to read🙌

The story grabbed my attention from the start. As I am quite into fitness and boxing myself, I really enjoyed the aspects of the story that included this. The alphas and the beta were perfect for Aries and really captured the essence of a pack which I would expect in an Omegaverse story😊

Highly recommend and I’m looking forward to the last few books in this series❣️ I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️‍🩹

Aries’s story

Just like our other omegas, Aries’s life has been hard. An abusive mother, presenting as an omega, and being kidnapped just before fleeing with the man she loved.

Ten years is a long time to look for someone, and after awhile, you start to lose hope, but you can’t give up.

This book kept you in the feels, up and down. You think you’re in happy town, then you’re not, and we don’t know what’s going to happen.

Aries and her guys are going to fight hard to be together.

I am over the moon about this book. It was so freaking good. Happy reading, because you have to read this one and all the other widows’ stories.

This is the next book in the widows peak series and it does not disappoint.

Aries is such a good omega character. Her past while not as dark as some as the others is still heart breaking in its own way. Her mother is just plain awful.

The Crows, amazing and such a good dynamic.

Leon, my heart broke for the sweet beta who hasn't had the greatest of starts either.

This is a good quick read and my only negative would be there wasn't enough of it.

Looking forward to the next book, I need all their HEA now.

Aries by Jarica James is book four in the Beware of the Widows Interconnected series. In true Jarica fashion, Aries, was an Amazing story that sucks you in from the start. Her storytelling always gives you the weight of the emotions throughout the whole story. I absolutely LOVED Aries' story. This series has been Amazing so far and with each book I can't help but feel for each FMC. I'm excited to get my hands on the next one. I really wish there was more. Absolutely loved the beginning, the build up and back story was fantastic. It was the second half when the pack met that felt so rushed. I wish it had been slightly longer, just to get a more in-depth view of the pack building. The plot was absolutely amazing, I wanted to 5 star this so much, but I am here for the romance, and it just was a bit rushed, in my opinion. Still and incredible read and a great addition to this series. Aries got her happily ever after, and we got her back story.

I did not want to out this down!!! Absolutely dreaming of how badass Aries is!! I adore that as an omega, she refused to backdown to anyone and taught herself until she was strong enough to teach others. I was really curious how this interconnected series was going to continue after the main bad guy is removed so early in the series. But these have not let me down!! 1 Beta and 3 Alphas - this dynamic was absolute perfection! No one was left out, everyone rallied around Aries - I just adored this story!

Aries and Nikolai were childhood friends. When they both presented as omega and alpha, they planned to run away together. Aries was abducted outside her job before they had the chance. Nikolai looked for her for years with no luck. Even being found by his half brother, Ronan, and Ronan’s pack mate, Luca, doesn’t change Nikolai’s focus from Aries. Years later still, Nikolai finally gets a lead of where Aries could be. They finally reunite, but things are far from smooth sailing. They have plenty of issues to work through, including Aries’s scent matched beta, Leon, but the guys are all determined to be what Aries needs and to help care for her. Loved it!!!

What a ride, seeing Aries go from abused to the heroine was a story in itself.
Here our FMC and Nikolai the first MMC to fall under her spurri but was pulled apart when she was kidnapped

For years he hunted her, finding a half brother Ronan, and his best friend Luca. While they searched Aries herself got out, and met Leon

The whole series is so good but this book really was sweet in a traumatic way in how they all find each other
