Rate this book
In a small coastal town where the waves never forget, two hearts get a second chance at love.

Sarah Riley's life is pretty close to being perfect.

She manages Galleons, her parents' pirate-themed café in the heart of Port Emerald, the small coastal town she's always called home. It's cozy, predictable, and hers.
Until Tate McKellar shows up.
Her first love. The boy who crushed her teenage heart when he left town to chase pro-surfing glory. Now he's back, retired from the spotlight and opening a sleek new restaurant just a few doors down on the boardwalk.
She thought she was over him, but she was wrong.
The sparks are still there, and so is the pain. As their worlds collide, Sarah must decide if she's brave enough to risk her heart a second time...or if Tate's return will wipe her out all over again.

Perfect Ten truly lives up to its name. As a debut romance novel, it hits all the right notes—emotionally rich, beautifully written, and completely unputdownable. I was swept away by the charm of this story and found myself fully immersed in Sarah and Tate’s journey from the very first chapter.

Sarah and Tate are the kind of characters that stay with you long after you finish the book. Their chemistry is undeniable, but what made their relationship shine was the emotional depth and authenticity. I loved watching them navigate vulnerability, trust, and second chances—it felt real and beautifully human.

The seaside beach town setting adds an extra layer of magic to the story. The author paints it so vividly, I could practically smell the salty air and hear the waves crashing in the background. The beach town isn’t just a backdrop; it’s part of the heartbeat of the story, shaping the mood and enhancing every moment. It’s a place I want to visit!

As a debut, Perfect Ten is a standout. If you’re looking for a romance that balances heart, heat, and a strong sense of place, look no further. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next—I’ll be first in line.

Perfect Ten by @stephanie_ritchie_author is an absolute treat for anyone who loves second-chance stories with a whole lot of heart.

Sarah and Tate’s journey hits all the right emotional notes. Teenage sweethearts who never quite got over each other, they collide again a decade later when Tate, a surfing legend who had his career cut short due to injury, returns to Port Emerald to judge the surfing contest. Little does anyone know that he is also looking at opening a restaurant in his old home town too.

Sarah now runs her family cafe which has recently undergone an impressive refurbishment turning it into a pirate themed cafe called Galleons.

Their reunion isn’t smooth or convenient; it’s raw, tender, and shaped by all the unspoken things they left behind. And that’s exactly what makes it so gripping.

Ritchie paints Port Emerald with such warmth and texture that the town becomes a character in its own right—salty air, crashing waves, and all the memories Sarah’s tried to bury lingering just beneath the surface. The chemistry between her and Tate sparks instantly, but what really draws you in is how they navigate the gap between who they were and who they’ve become.

The tension feels real, the longing is delicious, and the emotional payoff is totally worth the ride. This isn’t just about falling back in love—it’s about forgiveness, growth and recognising the moments that shape us, even long after we’ve walked away.

A beautifully written, nostalgic, and deeply satisfying romance. Five stars, easily.

Perfect Ten is exactly what its title promises—a heartfelt, captivating romance that hits all the right notes. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into Sarah and Tate’s story and didn’t want to put it down.

At its core, this is a beautiful second-chance romance set against the charm of a small seaside town. Sarah, reopening her parents’ café after a renovation, is focused on a fresh start—until she discovers that Tate, the one who got away, has returned as a judge for the town’s surf contest. Their reunion is filled with vulnerability, chemistry, and the kind of emotional depth that makes their journey feel raw, real, and deeply human.

The setting is its own character: a vibrant beach town brought to life so vividly that I could almost smell the salty air and hear the waves crashing. It’s the perfect backdrop for a love story about trust, healing, and second chances.

Stephanie has delivered a standout debut—balancing heart, heat, and hope in equal measure. If you’re someone who loves small-town romance with authentic characters and an atmosphere you can sink into, then this will be an unforgettable read. I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

I absolutely adored Perfect Ten. From the first chapter, I was hooked, and it only got better the deeper I went. This book has so much heart, warmth, and charm that it completely swept me up and didn’t let go.

Sarah and Tate are the kind of characters you can’t help but fall for. Their chemistry is undeniable, every interaction carried meaning, and I loved watching their relationship unfold.

The setting is stunning. The seaside town feels vivid and alive, and it adds such a beautiful atmosphere to the story. It wrapped around the romance perfectly and made the whole reading experience feel immersive and cosy. I could picture everything so clearly, it honestly made me want to pack my bags and go there myself.

This book gave me that warm, happy, completely content feeling that only a truly great romance delivers. It’s heartfelt, romantic, and deeply enjoyable from start to finish. Perfect Ten is an easy five-star read for me, and I’ll be picking up anything Stephanie Ritchie writes next without hesitation.

Perfect Ten captured me from the start. The writing was easy to pick up, the author had beautiful and vivid descriptions, and all the characters were well developed.

The story was about a second chance romance, with a rom-com/Hallmark feel. It definitely hits the spot for feelings of happiness and hopeless romance.

Sarah and Tate are very relatable and likeable characters and I found myself rooting for them throughout the book. Without spoiling anything, they met at a young age, life circumstances split them up and then they met again in their adult years to see if what they had was still there.

One of my favourite quotes from the book: “I spent years chasing waves around the world, but nothing compares to what I feel when I'm with you.”

Absolutely loved this book
Small town romance
Second chance
Beach town

Sarah is reopening her parents cafe after a renovation. The town is getting ready for a surge contest. Her cafe is providing the catering for the event.

Rumor has it that one of the Judges is none other than the one that got away! Tate. He had come back to judge but he’s also interested in buying a restaurant that is up for sale.

Will they be able to put the past in the past and move forward to get a HEA? Tate’s ex girlfriend surfaced to cause trouble. Can she get Tate back? Can Sarah really trust him again?? You’ll need to read to find out.

Adored this book from cover to cover!!! A really sweet small town romance, easy read summer vibes book with a touch of holiday magic! ;) a second chance romance follows Sarah and Tate in Port Emerald as they navigate the differences that many years and distance has brought about. I loved how cosy and comforting this book felt, it’s left with loads of scope for more stories in the series based on other characters and their development which left me super excited. I cannot wait to read the next one!!

Perfect Ten is a sweet small town romance that hits all the emotional notes you want your romance to hit. The main characters, Sarah and Tate, have the kind of chemistry that leaves you buzzing and smiling. But they also treat each other with such tenderness and respect that their whispered conversations melted my very soul.

In addition to a sweet second chance love story I really enjoyed the whole beach town setting. Port Emerald felt like an important character in itself. Perfect Ten gave me an escape from reality and delivered one of the swooniest happy endings I've read in a long time. Such a perfect ten ending for our lovely couple!

I recommend Perfect Ten for readers who enjoy small town stories, lovable characters, banter, heat and the crash of waves in the background.

Also how perfect is this sentence: "So long as there's coffee, I'm in."
