I live in a beautiful river town in North Carolina with my husband, kids, in-laws and fur babies. I love to travel and books. If I am not reading one I am writing one. I love how a book can give you an escape from our normal world. You can be anywhere and become anyone.
I want anyone reading one of my books to remember this.... you are worthy, you are loved, you are wanted!
I had such high expectations for Callum and Laceys' story coming off of reading the rest of the Rizzoli series. But I have to agree with others in saying this book fell flat for me. At times, I also felt very confused reading this book. We go from reading that they were secretly in love with each other, co-parenting their daughter, and next thing we know, it's discussed that they had a prior intimate sexual relationship. But we didn't have anything indicating that they had. So that left me a little puzzled and having to skim back to make sure I didn't miss something. I feel like this book would have shined if we got to see more of the early stages of their relationship building and more of Lacey healing from her past trauma. Overall, this is an arranged marriage Lacey (fmc) with Callum (mmc) trying to break her free. I recommend reading the series from start to finish.
I loved Callum and Lacey's story It's the kind of love story that’s born in the dark, clawing its way into the light. Callum and Lacey’s journey is intense...emotional, haunting, and beautifully told.
Jennifer doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff, but somehow still weaves hope into every heartbreak. The romance is fierce, the stakes are high, and the characters feel real...flawed, human, and fighting for something more.
If you love mafia romance with soul, depth, and a love that refuses to let go, this one’s for you.
While I enjoyed Lacey and Callum's story, I feel that with their journey already being developed prior to their book it halted the anticipation build up for me.
FMC is dealing with an arranged marriage while MMC is working to jail break her. Lacey has to overcome her family and past in order to accept what is right in front of her for her future. This is a second chance romance with a forced marriage.
If this were to be read as a standalone, the prologue would give some background for their development.
With the tension between Lacey and Callum starting early in the series, I had extremely high hopes and was anticipating this read. Unfortunately, I feel like it fell a little flat. Callum is the tech savvy Rizzoli so I wasn't expecting too much action by him but I was expecting the other men to be included. I did enjoy the relationship development between Callum and Layla.
As always Jennifer's writing style is so clean amd easy to follow. Her covers are absolute perfection.
Another amazing Rizzoli! Their love will start a war, but man, oh man, is it worth it. He falls first and he'll do anything for her...even if it means kidnapping her to keep her safe. This story is full of second chances, healing and quiet strength. The emotional depth...100%. I couldn't put this down!
