William Laine, a 78 year old Vietnam and army veteran, wakes one morning and decides that he’d like to go for a walk while he still can, nothing out of the ordinary in that. It’s just that the walk is more like a trek at over 1000 miles. His daughter and granddaughter think he is mad and the sooner he’s tucked away in the residential village the better, but he is determined and packs his army issue rucksack regardless. He has a ‘smart phone’ what else does he need? This is the story of that walk, the people he meets, new friends made and Vietnam ‘family’ visited. William shares his ‘story’ and that of his father, separated by age but bonded by duty, with those that ask, "why you walking"?
