I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. Start of a new series. I can’t wait to jump into it. Ms. Bonds gave readers a great opening to what seems to be an exciting series. Up first is Mr. Ricco. Plot twist there are two Mr. Riccos. Angelo and Matteo Ricco are Irish twins. They were in high school together now they are at their 10-year class reunion. Imagine their surprise when the classmate that had vanished right after graduation resurfaces.

Brook Simons used to be Brook Prescott in high school. She was adopted by her stepfather after her father disowned her and had her blacklisted from every prominent law school. Brook took two years off to care for her mother while she battled cancer. Things were rocky for them and Brook had a pile of medical bills to show for it. She finally got a job as a lawyer when she was fired not even a week out. Somehow her father had found her again. He refused to let her live her life and now Brook was out for revenge. She needed to find a job first though.

In high school Brook and Matteo were close. They competed against each other. Forced each other to be better. Brook had a crush on Matteo. Something changed right before graduation. Matteo abandoned her when she needed him the most. Her mother had just been diagnosed with cancer, and her father had left with her mother's inheritance. Brook was determined to get her father back. After celebrating with her mom and stepfather, Brook ran into Angelo Ricco. He convinced her to join the reunion. While there, Brook spilled the beans about needing job. Matteo decided this would be the perfect way to get back at her for choosing Angelo.

Though Matteo wanted to get her back, he could not deny the attraction. He still wanted to get her back but he also wanted to take from her. He would make Brook his and then leave her so she would know how he felt all those years ago. Good plan, huh? He convinced Brook to sign vague employee contract. Brook would not be hired as a lawyer; she would basically be an assistant to his assistant. The lowest of the low. He could treat her anyway he wanted to. The problem is, he wanted her. He wanted her bad. He was committed to the plan until the plan changed. Brook was his and would always be his. Mr. Ricco had finally met his match.

Matteo and Brook were high school rivals academically, but they were also friends. At least until the day Matteo suddenly shut her out when she needed him most. While Brook’s world crumbled, Matteo’s skyrocketed; he became a billionaire, while she was left picking up the pieces of her life. Fast-forward eleven years, and fate throws them together again, right after Brook loses yet another job, courtesy of her vindictive father. Matteo, still nursing the sting of betrayal from their teenage years (for reasons deliciously revealed later), sees her downfall as the perfect chance for revenge. I adore these kinds of “misguided revenge” romances that have you torn between yelling at the characters and fanning yourself from all the tension. It’s that sweet torture of waiting for the moment when both finally realize how wrong they were, and I was on edge the whole time. Matteo sets out to make Brook’s life miserable, but she’s tougher than he expects, matching him blow for blow. Half the time, I couldn’t tell if he wanted to kiss her or kill her, and honestly, that’s what made it so addictive. Their banter was hot as Hades. As the story unfolds, Matteo begins to see cracks in the narrative he’s believed for years. The more he learns about Brook, the more the pieces stop fitting and the undeniable chemistry between them only makes things more combustible. And let me just say, for all his talk of making her beg, it’s Matteo who’s the first to crumble, and I loved every second of it. If I had one gripe, it was Brook’s father. His obsessive need to sabotage her life after kicking Brook and her mother out felt unnecessarily cruel, and I would’ve loved a more satisfying payoff for his character. Still, that’s a small complaint in an otherwise captivating read. After everything Brook endures, watching her finally get the happy ending she deserves was the perfect reward. A fiery, emotional rollercoaster of love, revenge, and redemption, this story had me hooked from start to finish.

This one goes back a few years with a broken heart and fate putting things in place for the one person they never thought they would every see again giving them a second chance. Matteo and Brook high school rivals academically, but they were both friends he wasn’t there when she needed him most basically ignored her leaving her broken trying to piece her life back together and nothing from Matteo. Matteo became a billionaire often thought about his friend but not enough to reach out, beat himself for not being there when she needed him but so many years between them and he is sure she wants nothing to do with him. Fast forward Brook is still dealing with a father whose cruelty knows no bounds fate allows them to meet where Matteo wants revenge for leaving him broken hearted willing to use her downfall as the base his place is the only to get a job and yep you guessed it his goal is to make her life as miserable as possible but she fights him every step of the way. (They say it is a thin line between love and hate) we see that, but we also see how outside people kept issues going) Matteo couldn’t decide to kiss or kill her or both 😊. Matteo finally starts to see bits and pieces of the truth behind their separation realizing he has pour so much revenge into the wrong person but to fix it she may never allow him to fix it , will she be honest with him about happen all those years ago, will he fully understand what she has been through at the hands of the man who was supposed to be a father to her, and will they find their way back to each other giving each other a little grace the will lead them to happiness?

Matteo is a billionaire who feels rejected by brook 11 yrs ago in high school. She ends up back in his life broke desperate in need of a job as a lawyer after her nasty father had her black listed from law school and jobs. After she gets drunk and he rescues her he offers her a job but it’s because he wants revenge for his past hurt feelings. He will make her his then reject her. Brook has struggled to get thru law school care for her mom with cancer and pay her student loans. She’s worked multiple low pay jobs then got hired as a lawyer only to get fired within days because of her father. When Matteo hires her and gives her stupid meaningless aide jobs instead of legal cases she’s determined to persevere for the pay but also not give in to the burning desire for Matteo because she doesn’t trust him. Matteo can’t stay away he’s on fire for her and the more he finds out the more things don’t add up. Maybe revenge isn’t what he needs. Maybe he just needs brook and her love. But she’s stubborn determined and won’t bend easily until finally thru give in to the fire. But then afterwards everything spills out and Matteo finds out just how badly he’s screwed things up by jumping to assumptions and never just talking to her 11 yrs ago. And brook isn’t ready to forgive or let him make amends. It’s ten yrs too late. Matteo’s not giving up he’s going to be whatever she needs him to be and win her love forever.
Good plot detailed characters nice spice.

Matteo and Brook had a crush on each other in high school, but something happened, and they ended up rivals/enemies.... and now he is her boss! He broke her heart 10 years ago, but she has no other choice but to take his job offer - even if it's as a secretary and not the lawyer she's fought tooth and nail to become. Her father is not kind, and she feels that he is very similar to him. She's not sure why Matteo is humiliating her and trying to make her life hard, but she's not going to let him bring her down!

Matteo was def a jerk at first, and he did whatever he could to make her life difficult, but they still had that strong pull between them. The steamy scenes between these two were on fire! The connection they had was intense, and I was rooting for them the whole book! The banter was amazing. Brook had an inner strength, and she wouldn't let anything or anyone bring her down.

I did find this was a little slow at times, and it takes a while for their story to come out and for the real steam to begin, but I did enjoy the suspense and mystery that it brought!

She has fought hard to make her life her own. At the end of high school her dad left her and her mom and blacklisted her from law schools, and her best friend dumped her just when she thought they might be something more. Now that she has her degree she can't find a job until he agrees to give her one. He being her former best friend and owner of of one of the most influential companies. But his offer doesn't seem to be altruistic, he seems to have an axe to grind with her and she doesn't know what, but she can't afford to not take the opportunity. He is angry about how things ended, he thinks that she was using him to get to his brother so he turned away from her. He thought he knew who she was but now that he has her under his thumb he realizes that things are not at all what he thought they were, and she has been fighting alone all these years. He is determined that ends now and she will be his just the way she was always supposed to be, which means her enemies are now his enemies. This is an enemies to lovers story. He is a dark brooking billionaire who pursues what he wants with singlemindedness. She is tough and resilient and keeps fighting even when the hits keep coming. She is not used to having someone in her corner and finds it hard to trust, but he keeps showing up and letting her know he isn't going anywhere. They are spicy and sweet as he protects her.

Bonds gives us another of her intense couples in Ruthless Mr. Ricco. I liked the way Brook and Matteo reconnected: a high school reunion that Brook inadvertently stumbles into. That leads to an inebriated confession that she needs a job, which Matteo is all too happy to provide as a means of avenging Brook’s perceived slights to him from high school.

This book has a lot of revenge plots. Matteo wants revenge against Brook as much as she does against him, based on a huge series of misunderstandings. Brook also wants revenge against her father, who brutally pushed Brook and her mother aside when they most needed him.

But that all gets swept aside into the insta-lust that these Brook and Matteo feel for one another. That drives their connection, and how Matteo shifts pretty quickly into wanting Brook forever. Brook’s revenge seemed a bit naïve to me; I didn’t understand how a newbie lawyer would have the skills to overcome an experienced judge (and why he kept sabotaging Book made no sense to me). There are some two-dimensional characters, and others who show up pretty much as a plot convenience.

But if there’s one thing Bonds can do, it’s write this type of crazy, OTT love story. It’s that ability of hers that sells Ruthless Mr. Ricco—as long as you don’t think about some of the plot elements too hard.

I thought I was going to really enjoy this story, but.... the fact that the MCs had not seen each other since they were in high school and that was when they fell out of favor didn't make much sense to me. The reasons they were angry with each other was silly and the fact that Matteo used it to motivate himself to get rich was ridiculous. There was so much ambiguity. Why did her father blacklist her, why dump her and her mother, why the animosity between Matteo and his brother and Brook and his brother?
It seems the author was trying to cover a few tropes instead of focusing on one or two. Why was it relevant that Brook's step father was a couple of years older than her. Why didn't she just change her name in NY? why did he need to adopt her...at 18? Brook kept talking about getting revenge, yet she had no plan and we were not privy to her father's dirty deeds, not even at the end. When the villians were revealed, their motivations didn't make sense.
I was not onboard with the NC. Matteo had no self control when he should have. What was with her and clawing him?
The good thing about the book was that Brook seemed resilient, as Matteo kept calling her.

It didn’t take long for Matteo to turn from ruthless to begging for Brook to be his girl among other things. Brook played hard to get due to a misunderstanding in their high school past and her quest to destroy her father.

I was surprised how nasty she would speak to him sometimes but he kept coming back for more. I thought because his character was supposed to be ruthless he would have had a stronger reaction to this but this seemed to enamour him more. Well I guess love is blind and all of that…

I enjoyed the storyline very much. Bonds has a way of creating a story that is original and intriguing. A thought came to me near the end of the story that a chapter or two would have been interesting to get a glimpse from the villains point of view (her father, Angelo or possibly Ms Lynn. All we get is a chapter or two of the attack but it would be nice to have more information about the “why” or the pysche of villains. Regardless I enjoyed this book as well as the Mafia books Ms.Bonds has written. Looking forward to Audrey and Mr. Diamonds book. This author is turning into an automatic “one click” author for me!.

Do you ever think about your high school crush and what became f them? Matteo and Brook get to do that and more. Years after high school and the breakup of their friendship the two find themselves back in each other’s lives. Matteo has made something of himself while Brook is struggling. He sees his chance at getting revenge on Brook for what he sees as a betrayal but soon things come into light and all is not as it seems. Brook works hard and will prove that she is a survivor. When Matteo finally sees the truth, it may be to late but he will do what he can to prove that he is the one for Brook.
The two are good together and I enjoyed seeing their story unfold. There is a lot going on in this book and it would have been nice to have a bit more back story on some of the issues. The book moves at a good pace and kept me engaged all the way to the end. Brook is a strong woman and a good match for Matteo. The two work hard to find their happy ever after and find the strength in their love. This is an engaging read and a good start to this new series.

This starts out weird as f.

FMC's stepfather who is 4 years older than her (she is now 29) adopted her when she was twenty, so he was 24 at that time🤯. WTF

I gave Matteo Ricco my first kiss only for him to shove me away and call me a shallow, selfish bitch.

How sweet 🙄

After 11 years, they fall into insta-lust. Which is ridiculous, because he actually hates her. And after the things he did and said it makes no sense for her to want him too immediately.

There is barely any meaningful conversation and the little there is doesn't flow very well and makes no sense, a lot of inner thought and storytelling. The writing is also very bad. The plot is a mess. She is supposed to be working at a lawfirm, but then there are marketing reports, security stuff and innovation. She is squeaking every chapter and they are both horney on literally every page. Those last two chapters where things went down were just to ridiculous.

Just awful 🤡.

I wrap my fingers around her head and cover her mouth with mine. She squeaks and pushes against my chest, but I sneak my tongue between her teeth and groan at her sweetness. Her fists close in my suit. I nip her lower lip, lick the sting away, and dive back into her mouth.

Ruthless Mr. Ricco is a spicy billionaire romance that brings together leads Brook and Matteo in a romance filled with their past history now coming to collide in the present.
Brook didn’t have it easy growing up after her father disowned his ill wife and daughter.
Out celebrating the good news from her mother’s newest health diagnosis she is surprised to find out when leaving the restaurant that her class reunion was going on inside also, and Matteo her first love who left her brokenhearted is there.
Matteo is now a billionaire CEO but still feels the burn from what he believed in the past as Brook using him to get to his older brother, and knows just how to exact revenge…she needs a job.
Enjoyed the story which was dramatic, fueled by misunderstandings, family dynamics, spicy romance, emotion, revelations, good writing, and well crafted characters.

Matteo and Brook knew each other in high school, were rivals in the classroom, but Brook had a crush on Matteo. Pretty quickly we discover there was some "BIG MISUNDERSTANDING" and they lost touch. Eleven years later they meet up again at their reunion (totally accidentally on Brook's part). Matteo is STILL holding a grudge (dude, it was eleven years ago). Brook gets drunk (or was drugged) and ends up signing an employment contract with Matteo, which he takes to humiliate her at every turn. On top of all this, Brook is out to get revenge on her father for how he treated her mother. There was a lot going on in the book, it felt it could have been more simple. The connection between the two MCs was so-so, wished I could have connected more with them. They do get a HEA, although I wished I had seen more about the vengeance plotline. Hoping for more from the second story in the series.

A deliciously captivating romance, where revenge turns to obsession and then love. I think this is probably my favourite V.T Bonds book, the characters were fantastic and I really liked there history. The chemistry felt off the charts with some great steamy scenes. The book was a quick read, compared to some of her others but it left me feeling happy and satisfied. I was so engrossed I read it in one sitting. If you are a fan of V.T Bonds, second chance love, obsessive MMC, workplace based love stories you'll adore this story.

This was a fab series opener that's full of a mistaken revenge plot from their teen years. Matteo and Brook both crushed hard on each other as teens but, yeah, things went sideways. He sees Brook needing a job, now, as his perfect chance to get even for how she 'used' him back then. No matter how poorly he treats her, she gives it right back. She was way tougher than he expected ;) Once he spent more time with her, though, he saw cracks in their past... Expect to get caught up in the family drama, emotions, tension, fun banter, intense chemistry and hot romance as these two finally get their second chance romance. So good and I can't wait for the next book :D

V.T. Bonds gives us a wonderful new series with Brook and Matteo's story. I enjoyed the chemistry burning rivalry between the two. Every challenge issued, accepted, and won was fun to read and had me rooting for both to come up on top even when you know only one can win. I cannot wait to see what the author has in stored for us next. Definitely recommended!

Crush – Hate – Love
Matteo and Brook had a crush for each other in high school until a calamity hit and a misunderstanding developed that hurt both and turned their feelings into hate. And a wish for revenge. The latter rose first when there was a unexpected meeting eleven years later. Through daily proximity the situation changed rapidly and a romance was born.
A lovely, spicy story that was a bit too short to my taste, but gave me a very satisfying read none the less. Highly recommended!

I loved Brook and Matteo’s second chance romance. Brook and Matteo were once friends in high school, both having a crush on the other, but after a huge misunderstanding, the once friends are now enemies. Now eleven years later they are reunited and things get interesting from there. This book is a quick, fast paced, well written story filled with great characters, and plenty of chemistry and heat between the characters to keep you entertained throughout. Can’t wait for the next book!

I absolutely inhaled this book. I hesitated to read it at first as the blurb made it sound like the MC was going to make the FMCs life absolute hell.

He tried but dang she beat him at every turn 😂

Liam takes the cake .. I want more of him as the relationship with Brook was perfect. And the fact that it made Matteo jealous priceless.

Revenge is best served cold but these two have enough heat between the two of them the revenge happens sooner than later.

I was instantly engrossed in the rivalry between Matteo and Brook. Brook is caring and determined to prove herself where Matteo is caring but won't be fooled again; a misunderstanding from their past has turned their friendship into arch enemies. The attraction between them is explosive and when they finally burst it's fireworks. This book had tension that was explosive, bitter revenge, and some of the hottest spicy moments that made it hard to put this book down!

FRIENDS. ENEMIES. LOVERS.

Mr. Ricco may be ruthless in business but when it comes to the heart, he is a big softie. This MMC tries so hard to maintain the aura of ruthlessness, heartless business tycoon but when the FMC falls into his arms he is a goner. The FMC while strong, independent but vulnerable, she cannot maintain her air of indifference. The characters in this book are well written but there could have been so much more to the backstory and the overall outcome. I still really enjoyed this book and as a quick, easy weekend read, it was perfect for my reading needs.

I enjoyed this book with its riveting storyline. The characters had amazing chemistry which bled through their relationship immediately. I loved that the author made the story come alive by adding detail and depth from the past which heightened my curiosity and interest and added to my enjoyment. The moments of suspense were well written. I would have liked to see comeuppance for a few more characters from the book yet the story felt complete and satisfying even so. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

I love enemies or rivals to lover trope with a passion and this one was definitely up my alley. It's a novella, but had plenty going on in the story that I didn't feel like I was missing out on things because of its' length. It was well written and well paced, with MCs that were relatable and likeable. The whiff of bully trope that was woven into the story was also appreciated as well. As always with this author, the spice is off the charts and will leave you breathless. Overall, a fun read.

This is a good read. Matteo Ricco is just what you expect in a ruthless CEO. Brook is resilient and fearless. She doesn't let anything get her down for long. I liked the chemistry between them. However, it left a lot of questions, such as why did her father kick her mother and her out, why did Matteo get so upset in high school when they were not even seeing each other? Why did she need to be adopted at 18 when she could just legally change her name?.

Great story! Brook and Matteo meet up again by accident at their high school reunion. It’s a workplace romance with a touch of bullying but ultimately a second chance romance. Matteo was a bit of a jerk but he straightened himself out when he realized Brook was always going to be “ the one” for him !

The tension and heat in this book was dripping off the pages. A misunderstanding from their senior year in high school made Matteo hold a grudge against Brook. After mistakenly stumbling into their high school reunion Brook comes face to face with her first crush and the man she thought betrayed her. Brook is a strong minded character who makes Matteo beg for what he wants. Matteo is single mindedly focused on what he wants and when he decided he wants Brook there's no getting in his way.

A Delicious Romantic Read

Matteo and Brook, once best friends, until misunderstanding and misfortune entered their lives. Now years later, Brook is still Matteo’s one obsession but this time he was out for revenge.

Ooh, I just loved this storyline, the chemistry and sizzle is off the charts, revenge and obsession turning to love with some action, danger and a super wonderful HEA.

Although the initial chapters seemed somewhat slow, as the development of the couple's relationship and the build-up of romantic tension took a little while to fully ignite, I was ultimately completely engrossed by the expertly crafted suspense and intriguing mystery that permeated the entire storyline, making it a truly compelling read.
