Knot the Last Chapter: A Cozy Omegaverse Romance

Rate this book
Losing my dream job sucked. Crawling back to my tiny hometown? Even worse.

At twenty-eight, with nothing but a severance check and a half-finished novel idea, I return to Starling Grove—the one place I swore I'd never live again. I tell myself it’s a fresh start. A chance to finally write the book I’ve been dreaming about.

But inspiration doesn't come easy, even surrounded by springtime charm and small-town quiet. In a moment of frustration, I reach out to my old best friend… only to find she’s changed her number. The stranger who replies? Surprisingly easy to talk to. Supportive. Kind.

Then I meet him in person, and realize he’s Tyler, one of the alphas from my childhood. Along with his packmates, Rhys and Corwyn, they were the boys who once made my life hell.

Now they’re grown. Still alphas. But different.

They say they’ve changed. They want to make amends. And worse? They want to help me find my voice, and maybe, just maybe, my place...with them.

I’ve always written my own story, and I certainly never planned for it to include a pack.

But maybe these alphas could be more than just a chapter in my life… maybe they’re the whole happily ever after.

This standalone Cozy and Steamy Omegaverse romance is filled with slow-burning tension, found family, and sizzle that'll leave you breathless.

UPDATE:

2/5 ⭐️

I like the idea for this story and it's sweet, but i think this book can use an editor and maybe some beta/arc readers.

-----------------------

I’m currently reading this book and I’m a bit confused.

Tyler: I grin. God help me, I don’t even know her name. She came into my life on a random Tuesday with a text about hiding a body in the lake, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about her since.

But a couple pages before the FMC sends him this:
I’m Lila, by the way. What should I call you, mystery person? There’s a long pause. Just enough time for me to feel a little foolish for asking.

So he should know her name…

Honestly I really tried with this one but I just couldn't take it anymore. The idea was great, and the writing itself wasn't bad... but there was just way too many inconsistencies that caused me to be annoyed at every moment.

First her brother is 2 years older than her, then later on he's 5 years older than her. Lila tells the mystery person she's texting that her name is Lila while also asking for his, but then chapters later he says he doesn't know her name. Tyler keeps flipping saying he's certain he's texting Lila, to the next chapter saying he doesn't know who he's messaging at all. Lila originally hated Tyler because he told her her writing was childish after an open mic festival when she was 15, then it flips to her showing him her writing while visiting with her brother when she was 14. Tyler tells his brothers he's been texting a mystery girl, revealing that it's actually Lila, then a few chapters after that he's recounting how he starting accidentally texting a mystery girl weeks prior and didnt know it was Lila until he met her.
Also, somehow even though Lila is 5 years younger than Tyler she still supposedly went to school with him? Then there's the fact that she used to tag along with her brother all the time and would visit the Carver brothers at their place when they were teens, yet somehow literally none of the brothers could recognize her on sight. And the fact that Tyler supposedly had a crush on Lila when she was 15 (making him 20) is icky.

It was all just too many inconsistencies for me that I just kept getting more and more annoyed, which is unfortunate because the idea was good.

Ehhh

I really wanted to like the story, it had a good start but fizzled out really quickly. The FMC is just so one dimensional and the MMC are worse.

This was a cozy small town Omegaverse story. Both sweet and steamy with interesting characters.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The story itself and the characters were well done. This isn’t your typical Omegaverse book with intense heats, with bonding and packs though, so be warned if you are expecting that. It was still steamy, but more in a relationship building way.

There were issues with plot and character developments. The fmc’s character was really confusing and the world building and dynamics between brothers/ packs were not clear as well. Also, there was so unnecessary fillers.

This book had a promising setup and enjoyable moments, but a number of inconsistencies and underdeveloped elements made it fall short of its potential.

One of the major issues was the age gap between Tyler and Lila. The story mentions that Tyler made a comment about liking her when she was 14, and while the author tries to brush it off as him being a “dumb kid,” the math doesn’t quite work. If Tyler were five years older, he would’ve been 18 or 19 at the time—an adult. That makes the comment less thoughtless and more inappropriate, and it weakens the credibility of their dynamic. The story might have worked better if the age gap were smaller or if this part of the backstory had been reconsidered.

Another area that felt underwhelming was the portrayal of heats. In this version of the Omegaverse, Lila’s heat is more like a high fever and persistent arousal than something truly incapacitating. There’s no real consequence to her going without a partner, and it never reaches the intensity or urgency that’s typical in the genre. As a result, the tension is diluted, and it feels like she could have just stayed in her room until it passed with minimal impact.

I also noticed occasional references to events that didn’t happen on the page, which created confusion. At times, I had to stop and wonder if I missed something or if there was supposed to be an off-page interaction that was never clarified.

Timekeeping throughout the book was also inconsistent. For example, Lila calls her family after the storm and notes it’s past midnight—then immediately starts cleaning the kitchen and suggests a movie night. Sure, stormy conditions can throw off routines, but the timeline here felt implausibly stretched.

As for the emotional arc, the ending felt like it was missing something. Lila’s brother, who had been vocal earlier about distrusting packs and viewing them as controlling, barely reacts when she decides to stay. There’s no real emotional reckoning or meaningful conversation to close that thread, which leaves her decision feeling rushed.

Throughout the story, there were subtle hints—from her mother, her brother, and even Lila herself—that suggested she feared losing her identity in a bond with an alpha. That kind of internal conflict could have added rich depth to her journey, but it never really materialized. She doesn’t wrestle with those fears or work through them in a meaningful way, which makes her arc feel a bit flat.

Finally, if the mystery subplot was meant to be a driving force, it didn’t fully land. Clues weren’t laid out clearly for the reader to follow along or piece together, resolving feels more like a background element than a satisfying reveal.

All in all, this book had potential and some enjoyable moments, but it would’ve benefited from stronger continuity, deeper character exploration, and more consistent worldbuilding.

great read

Lila is a small-town omega who once tried to chase her dreams in the city. But after being let go from her job, she returns home to Starling Grove to pursue her true passion—writing.

In a moment of desperation (and maybe a little humor), she texts her old best friend asking hypothetically how to hide a body. The twist? The number now belongs to someone else. What follows is an unexpected texting friendship that becomes something more.

While visiting her family’s cabin on the lake, disaster strikes, and she’s found drenched on the shore of Carver Island by Rhys—one of three alpha brothers. Rhys is the dependable protector, Corwyn is the charming, book-loving alpha, and Tyler is the one who once shattered her heart as a teen.

The three men are convinced Lila is theirs, but Lila isn’t sure what—or who—she truly wants.

This story weaves mystery, romance, and self-discovery beautifully. I genuinely enjoyed the characters and found parts of Lila’s journey relatable. While the novel could use a bit of polish in places, it was a compelling read—and I’m definitely looking forward to what comes next!

This book had so many inconsistencies it read like a middle/high schooler wrote it. There were so many simple spelling errors that it didn’t even seem like there was any proofreading for this book. Maybe if it had been gone through as whole before publishing a lot of the mistakes could have been fixed. Why does the beginning of the book have the MCs with a 2 year age gap then all of a sudden halfway through they now are 5 years apart. I think there should have been more world building because it didn’t make sense in my brain the geography. Does every family have their own island with a house on it? Because that is how it read to me. Then that storm, what was it a hurricane? Because there is no way a storm will last days being that severe. Also, maybe I missed it but when did this family secret/treasure hunt come into the story? I don’t remember it being mentioned early in the story then all of a sudden they are on a quest looking for clues about a family secret that felt rushed and unexplained. 🌶️🌶️

The book was ok. Cozy vibes. It really needs a continuity editor though. Several details would change part way through. Like the different times Tyler “realizes” Lila is the girl he’s been texting. Also just an editor in general would be good cause there were some sentence structure issues and typos.
And the blurb doesn’t quite match the book. It says that “along with his packmates, Rhys and Corwyn, they were the boys who once made my life hell.” But it was just Tyler. She hadn’t met the other 2 when she was younger. And it was some mean words (literally one throwaway sentence) about her writing. I know words can hurt but “made my life hell” implies much more consistent bullying, which was not the case.

Also a little grossed out by the fact that Tyler is 5 years older than Lila and said he liked her when they were younger. Not a fan of a 19 year old having a crush on a 14 year old.

Syper cyte and cozy

This was a good book with a cute storyline. The alphas were sweet. Despite the blurb do not expect major drama or major groveling.

The downside and whay lost a star for me are the number of errors in the book. A lot are classic typos that can be easily ignored, think when she means thank, who when she means how. If that was the only issue then I would let it go and not mention it but there are a plethora of timeline issues. How the guys met, one of the MMCs saying he doesn't know her name a paragraph before and a paragraph after he literally says her name, and some other things that were just hard to ignore. This author would definitely benefit from an alpha team and an editor.

could’ve done with an editor or re-read

I won’t lie, this book contained many small things that affected the continuity of the book, small details would change (eg. Colour of the cats eyes and the storm, and conversations would be had like they were a surprise when the characters had known a couple of chapters ago, eg Pine).

But in spite of that, this was an enjoyable read, cosy, romantic, low spice. The author did do a good job of writing and building the angst between the MCs.

Romance? ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Story 3⭐️ Spice 2.25🌶️

First her brother is two years older then he becomes five years older a few chapters later. And that’s just the first of many many many inconsistencies. Don’t forget the typos as well. The idea behind the story is solid, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It’s also a very different take on packs and heats.

Sweet and heartfelt

I find this book to be very sweet. There is even a treasure hunt. I love treasure hunts. Kind of wish there had been more of it, but that's just me. But the relationship between them was nice and not much tension involved. Good ending and epilogue. Overall a feel good read.

Carver Island

This was a very enjoyable book I can't wait to read the next one. I liked that there wasn't a lot of emotional scenes. Book isn't that big and can be finished quickly. I will definitely be recommending this to my sister. 💕
