The whole class now knows that Luna isn’t good at sucking blood, and Ootori keeps offering himself up for “practice.” A busy summer is on the horizon, filled with tests and club activities!
This might be too boring for me to continue with, sadly. It has really just the one joke, that Luna sucks at sucking, and then she chibi-fies herself at times. Okay, there are two jokes, my mistake.
She and Ootori continue to get closer and everybody knows and it’s all very cute, possibly veering perilously close to twee at times. These stories really need a little oomph and this doesn’t quite have it.
This is so blatant at times that it’s mildly cringe. When Ootogi even utters the word beach, well, the rails snap onto the narrative and it goes every single place you’re thinking it will. I mean, at least it doesn’t let you down, I guess?
I will say that Ootogi’s thoughtful gesture at the end of the volume almost makes up for the banality of the rest of it. It’s a burst of clever that is seeded by the story’s lore and its character development and it was rather perfect. If the whole thing was on this level it would be transformative.
2.5 stars - eh, I will let it round up because it doesn’t actively offend, but even The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses was better than this and that was pretty middle tier at best. Inessential.
