I actually made a mistake when picking out this book, assuming it was going to be an adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes novel simply going off the title. Had I stopped and read the blurb, I never would have requested this book from NetGalley, and that would have been a terrible mistake, since this is an amazing graphic novel. I loved it so much (even if I was confused for the first few pages until I realized it had absolutely nothing to do with Holmes and restarted the book) and was so upset when it ended. Can't wait to read the next one!

Need to mention that the illustrations are stunning.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Editor. I received a copy of this book in exhcange for an honest review

This is a revenge story with psychos as characters. And it is beautiful!
Think Jorg by The Broken Empire (by Mark Lawrence) but he doesn't want to conquer the world (at least, for now), he just wants revenge on his House. He is a man on a mission (or a child on a mission, more on this in a moment) and he won't be stopped.
It's really calling for some popcorn while you sit back and watch all this develop before your eyes.
And it is also a pleasure to "watch" because the art is beautiful. It is pretty dark, but grim tones are so perfect for this story and these characters. Everything is well balanced, and each element complements the others.

That said, it is also pretty fun. Our MC dies and he wakes up again, not in another world (shocking, right?!) but he is taken back in time, at the moment of his birth. So now we have a baby with the memory and the abilities of a man (who was also one of the best Bloodhound of his House). Shenanigans ensue, and I was there for them.
It is a pretty cool idea. Sure, I would have loved to see more of the MC growing up, but I don't really care.
It's pretty engaging, and I had fun. And I will be continuing this series!

Vikir, our MC, is so cunning and always a couple of steps ahead of everyone (duh) and it was so satisfying following him around. It was fun. Quite bloody, and mercyless, but oh, so good!

Ooh I did like this one. The malice in the eyes was really well done. Really vibrant on the red. Classic vow of revenge before rewind but the way they test the infants from the get go was brutal. Some Hercules and Achilles like stuff going on. The triplets made me laugh with their names and hair styles. Looking forward to the next one.

"The Baskerville Family is often referred to as the House of Berserkers."

Vikir's served the family faithfully for years, knowing nothing other than being a loyal dog. Until his accomplishments and services land him in a betrayal plot against him and his execution. Before the blade falls he vows that if he were to redo it all he would do it better and serve justice to his "father".

Something hears his resolve because he is thrust back in time to his baby self. Vikir realizes he truly does get a redo at this storyline, only all his memories from his past life are with him. Causing him to know things and adapt faster than before! Some things remain the same while there are other plotlines he wasn't prepared for. Will he be able to accomplish his revenge plot?

I was intrigued by this title because I grew up with the great Sherlock Holmes and had read "The Hound of the Baskervilles". I was drawn in but this read is in no way a retelling of the classic. It has some elements and names but otherwise it's an original story.

Vikir was an interesting character, though he is very much overpowered. But I mean that's to be expected when you have the memories from your previous life. Though he understands he cannot show his hand too soon or else he may be removed from the narrative again. It was fascinating watching his mind work and how he accomplished that carrot on a stick method. Securing his place and keeping "father" invested in him.

This is a dark graphic novel with dark themes. Vikir has to survive a very harsh environment, and things don't get better. The artwork is beautiful, but it also helps to depict the intensity of this family. There's no sympathy for infants or children. They go through brutal training and are forced to remain in a constant state of survival mode. Violence, blood, gritty, and dark.

We do get hints and understandings of Vikir's past life to clarify some of the choices he makes in this new one. But I do like that even though he follows a plan and makes better decisions than he did ripples happen. Causing changes in the timeline he knew that place new obstacles in his way. Will be interesting to see how far things will change and if he will even be able to remain on his designated path. Or if things go astray too much, will he have a new goal to aim for?

Cliffhanger and a new turn of events for Vikir to navigate. Enjoyed the fighting sequences and how his warped mind worked. The manga is in full color and again the artwork is so phenomenal!

Do enjoy the first volume about a redo of life but with a bunch of psychos and mind games. Don't forget to give the collection of people who brought this manga together some stars!

Thank you, Yen Press and NetGalley!

I have received an ARC of this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, thank you!

Actual rating: 2,5

Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound is about a guy who dies, gets reborn in his infant body and a mind of a full grown adult and decides to min-max his second life for revenge. The endless cycle of aura farming and hype moments was so ridiculous that at some points I wasn't sure if I'm reading an actual story or a parody of one. The main character has powers of a well-trained adult man at the age of eight (because somehow his body is on par with his eight-year old brain) and no matter what happens, he is always ready for it because he has five backup plans in a trench coat. It's not about if he's powerful enough, it's about how much of this power he can show to optimize his keikaku best (keikaku means plan). The amount of hype is proportional to the amount of references to mythology, religion and literature mentioned in every chapter. We don't pick and choose here, everything is fair game - we've god the Baskervilles as the obvious reference to Sherlock Holmes, river Styx, Beelzebub, cerberus and hellhounds, even Cain and Abel. And it's all there to sound badass and make the reader point their finger saying "Hey, I understood that reference!"

WATCH OUT, SPOILERS AHEAD

And honestly, it would be all in good fun, albeit quite ridiculous if not for the last part where the mc (who is an adult man in a body of an eight year old that looks like at least twelve year old) completely destroys verbally and in a fight a girl his age, as a result of which she falls for him and wants to marry him. And while he has no real interest in anything besides hype moments and aura, it's still a very weird choice on the author's part, especially when they choose to destroy some of the girl's clothes and have the MC cover her up with his jacket.

All in all, I feel like I was not a target audience for this. I expected something like ORV or S-Classes that I Raised, with a fun cast of characters and interesting worldbuilding but instead I got a mary sue on steroids. I'm sure someone out there would love this but my biggest joy was looking at the MC's father, who was the most interesting character to me.

After being slandered and sentenced to death, Vikir swears revenge on those who wronged him.

This was an amazing story about being given another chance at life. Vikir was sentenced to death because he knew too many secrets. Now he uses the knowledge acquired in his previous life to become the strongest in the Baskerville family. Baskervilles raise their children as "hounds", soldiers who can be used and then easily discarded. Since birth they are put to tests that will endanger their lives. They are seen as tools and their only aim in life is to serve their master, Hugo Baskerville.

Vikir is a very morally gray, clever and cunning character. He uses his knowledge from previous life to get stronger but shows his progress only when it suits his plans. He pretends to be servile and only following orders but at the same time plots the family's demise. He waits patiently till he becomes strong enough to defeat Hugo.

The world building was amazing. The use of mana in sword fighting though not unique was very exciting. I especially liked the different levels of using mana and the special abilities given to Vikir by Beelzebub. The plot is fast paced and action packed. The artwork was beautiful and atmospheric.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next volume. This is a great story for those who like to read about villains in the world where rules are made by those who are the strongest and the character who will use any means necessary to become the fiercest of them all.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGally for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC for this manhwa.

This was a solid 4 stars for me!! If you love dark and twisted time travel revenge stories then BOY is this for you!

Our story begins with the sentencing and death of Vikir - one of the best illegitimate “hounds” of the Baskerville family. In his last moments, he laments how he spent his life working himself to the bone for a family who just used him and used him as a scape goat. Vowing to live his next life differently, he wakes up in the past as an infant where he immediately delivers on using his knowledge to his advantage.

The first volume follows Vikir until he’s about 8 years old, showing the connections from his first life and how’s he’s turned it all around to being one of the family’s best students - to the point where he’s being compared to the legitimate children and allowing him to somewhat represent the family.

The story is told from Vikir’s POV and so far everything going according to plan for him. It’s too early to say that it will continue this way but you kinda want it to so he gets his revenge.

The plot is pretty standard for a revenge story but what sets it apart is the art and the unapologetically twisted way of thinking that our morally very very very dark gray MMC is.

I feel like volume 2 is where the story will pickup and as long as the story isn’t dragged out by repeating formulaic arcs - this is could be really great!

✨ Manhwa Review: Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound ✨

A brutal family. A loyal “hound.” A betrayal that ends in execution.
And then… regression.

Vikir Von Baskerville spent 40 years serving his family faithfully, only to be killed by the very man he called father. Reborn with all his memories intact, he swears revenge and prepares to destroy the Baskerville family from within.

The premise is dark and intense, and I can definitely understand why Vikir is so focused on revenge. His anger, his coldness, his calculated moves—it all makes sense considering what he went through.

But personally? I’m not really fond of it 😅

I tend to gravitate more toward villainess tropes and character-driven emotional arcs. Here, Vikir feels extremely overpowered right from the start. He’s always several steps ahead, rarely shaken, and almost too perfect in executing his plans. And while that can be satisfying for some readers, I usually prefer characters who struggle more visibly.

The heavy revenge focus also makes the tone very intense and serious throughout. Maybe regression + overpowered male lead just isn’t fully my cup of tea.

That said, if you enjoy:
🔥 Cold, calculating MC
🔥 Power fantasy with revenge plot
🔥 Dark noble family politics
🔥 Strong “I will destroy them all” energy

Then this might be perfect for you.

As for me, I’ll probably stick to my chaotic villainess girls 😌✨

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound, Vol. 1 throws you straight into one of the darkest, most brutal family dynamics I’ve read in a while. The Baskerville children aren’t raised, they’re turned into weapons, stripped of everything except loyalty and the will to survive. What makes this volume so compelling is how it uses the reincarnation hook not as a gimmick, but as something that actually carries real emotional weight. Vikir already lived and died serving a family that never saw him as anything more than a tool, and watching him re-enter that world with forty years of baggage and a quiet, burning grudge makes for a really gripping read.

The tone is dark through and through, and honestly, that’s what makes it work. This isn’t a revenge story that pulls its punches. It makes you feel the cost of Vikir’s first life before his second one even gets started. If you’re into dark fantasy or stories where the main character has to take down the system from the inside, this one is worth your time. Vol. 1 does a solid job building the foundation, and I’m already hooked on watching Vikir dismantle the very machine that created him.

Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound surprised me even though it does have the same tropes as other similar works. I liked the setting and how the Baskerville children are trained to be these hound dogs for the family and do its dirty work. Vikir Von Baskerville served the family only to meet his destiny as a traitor and got executed by the guy who was his supposed father. He then got born again his memories intact and now he seeks for a revenge. In a sense this is your basic reincarnation with full memories. The thing that sets this apart though is that Vikir actually plans everything as he was over 30 when he originally died. He makes adult decisions and hides his abilities and that's perfect. But, perhaps putting him in a 8-year-old body with rippled muscles is weird in too many ways. I wish he was at least twelve.

The art looks interesting and the manhwa is in full color, so the reading experience was quite good. The cover looks very fine too! Some minor changes would've made this work better, but overall the plot is interesting and I'm glad to see Vikir acting like an adult for once. Let's hope there's interesting times ahead, since the potential is surely there!

Despite the name, this has nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes, or our world either. Vikir van Baskerville is one of many bastards of Hugo Le Baskerville, a family called berserkers for their bloodthirsty ways. Children are pitted against one another since infancy, but because he’s illegimate, Vikir isn’t given the same chances as the legitimate siblings. He’s a loyal hound though—until he’s betrayed at 40 and executed. He swears revenge and is reborn.

Finding himself as an infant with all his memories intact, he sets out to become the strongest. Vol. 1 follows his journey to an eight-year-old, as he uses all his skills and cunning to become more powerful than he was in his first life already as a child.

This was a good start. The world is good but not unique, and it’s constructed like game with different level monsters, dungeons, and final bosses. The story is bloodthirsty and Vikir doesn’t really have redeeming qualities, but neither do the other characters, and he’s interesting in comparison. I’m not sure I cared enough about it to continue though. Art was full colour and good.

Thank you to NetGalley and IZE Press for the free access to a Digital Copy of this manhwa in exchange for an honest review.

I will admit this title is not one usually in my target demographic but that is why I wanted to try it out despite this. The first good chunk of this volume was more explaining how the hounds are trained when born to Vikir (the main protagonist) doing some angsty aura farming. Overall it wasn’t bad for action and intrigue. I think for me personally I found it hard to connect with Vikir’s character and care much about him cause they never give you much about him other than that he was killed and he wants revenge. I don’t feel like this volume fleshes his character out well is what I’d say.

Now for the last chunk of this book I actually started to get into it. With the entry of Camille I started to be eager to see where things went. I was sad to see it end cause I wanted to know what happened next so I can give them this I definitely was hooked I just had to give it time to get me to see it’s potential. I really liked the little dynamic between Camille and Vikir that I wanted to see how all that would work out.

This collection consists of the first fifteen chapters of Vikir’s story, covering his reincarnation into his newborn self to the duel with Alfonso, Sixth-Circle Master as he earns himself a betrothal. Covering the usual genre tropes of the main character craving power, being smarter than everyone because he has decades of knowledge even in the body of a toddler and knows all of the major events that are going to happen — and how to manipulate them to his own advantage — this book, so far, does nothing really new with the genre.

It has an interesting protagonist with a young man who doesn’t want power for it’s own sake, he just wants to kill his father. He’s not out to make friends or take over the family, he just wants to kill his father. He’s not interested in making a life for himself … he just wants to kill his father. He’s refreshingly single minded. There are no real plots in his narrow head, no Machiavellian schemes. At least, not yet.

While I’m unfamiliar with this comic, I’m interested enough in the story and the world it’s presented to want to read more; this is a series I’ll be keeping up with! Thank you so very much to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC.

First I would like to thank NetGalley the Author, Illustrator and the Publisher for this ARC.

This was BLOODY brilliant!!!
It's a revenge story with psychos and serial-killers as characters, most of them are currently children btw.... And it is beautiful!
He is a man/child on a mission and he won't be stopped.
It's calling for some popcorn, John Wick style, while you sit back and watch all of this develop before your eyes, it's also a pleasure to "watch" because the art is stunning, although pretty dark, but the grim tones are perfect for this story and its characters.
Our MC dies and he wakes up again, not in another world, but he is taken back in time, at the moment of his birth. So now we have a baby with the memory and the abilities of the man he was.
Vikir, our MC, has to survive a very harsh environment, and things don't get better the older he gets but he is so cunning and always a couple of steps ahead of everyone, obviously😜. And it was so satisfying following him around. It was fun, bloody, and merciless, but good, so, sooo good!
I will be continuing this series!

Vikir is reborn, after a life of struggle to rise to the top to get whatever reward he could and the praise of someone who would never let him have it he’s taking this new life and getting his revenge. He will use what he lived and learned in his past life to succeed in this life, he’ll surpass the one he wants to defeat. The one that took his life after wasting his past life.

I’m excited for the next volume, I did not see that ending coming and I’m very excited to see how that progresses in the next volumes. We have a MC that lived a past life that he regrets and will do what he can to do everything the right way for him, which he deserves. The art is out of this world I can get clear picture of attacks and creatures from this world.
P.s - “warrior” babies was not what I was expecting .. at the start 🤣. Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound, Vol. 1
is an action packed graphic novel that hits from the starts, it takes you in and makes you want to read it from start to finish in one sitting.

Thank you netgalley and yen press.

ARC Review

Vikir was betrayed in his past life, but when he wakes up after his death in the body of his infant self, he decides this time will be different. Vikir is a good main character with solid goals and a plan. I enjoyed seeing him make steps to better his chances in this go-around of life. There is plenty of action, but this first volume does spend a good amount of time giving backstory (one of the side effects of the MC having foreknowledge of events and a desire for revenge). The last few chapters helped flesh out the world-building by introducing a different ruling house beyond Baskerville.

The art style is really good and I liked the lighting and color changes of scenery. Topic-wise, this is a darker story than I am used to, but the journey is intriguing enough that I need to know how the story ends. Looking forward to see what happens in volume 2.

Thanks NetGalley and Yen Press/ Ize Press for the ARC!

Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound, Vol. 1 is a brutal, razor-sharp revenge fantasy that grabs hold from the first page and doesn’t let go.

The premise is instantly compelling: children raised as weapons, a lifetime of loyalty repaid with betrayal, and a second chance at life fueled by memory and rage. Watching Vikir navigate the same cruel system with foresight, patience, and a burning desire for revenge is deeply satisfying, and the Baskerville family is convincingly monstrous.

The worldbuilding is dark and unforgiving, perfectly matched by S.arang’s striking, visceral artwork. Action scenes hit hard, and REDICE Studio's adaptation keeps the story tense and fast-moving.

Intense, unapologetically dark, and incredibly satisfying—this is a must-read for fans of revenge-driven fantasy and rebirth stories.

Firstly, I admit that I am biased to full-color graphic novels; they are so elite and fun. It was masterfully crafted with deep colors, especially red. Sigh, so good. This is an honest review sponsored through NetGalley and Yen Press.

Sadly.

Huh, I wanted to connect with the character and find some shred of morality, but kept coming back to the thought, “this is how villains are made.” Why might you ask? Well, it’s extraordinarily unhinged, revenge-focused, and combines with a start-over reincarnation. If you squirm over violence at a young age, this is not for you.

The story has potential and offers a rich world in which you sort of jump in and crawl out of the protagonist's old memories. I wish Vikir well on his quest for revenge. It will probably have to move on without me. I had a hard time emotionally investing in someone so angry.

Anyone who enjoys regression revenge stories would likely enjoy this! Vikir von Baskerville is subsequently given a second chance at life after being executed by his father. The Baskerville children are raised to be loyal hounds, so we see some of this training through the eyes of an 8-year-old Vikir. I will say that some scenes can be quite far-fetched and fast-paced, but they are common for the genre. While I lean more towards romance manhwa, I did enjoy this. There are a lot of elements that are shared throughout all the manhwa categories, so I feel this is a story that a lot of people would enjoy. The art is also beautiful, which makes it an even nicer read!

This was a good start. The buildup of the plot seemed stagnant, but interesting. I liked the information giving about the stats of monsters on what level they're at and the ones Vikir absorbs into the sword he acquires to level up. It reminded me of a video game. The plot is transmigration, which follows a strong revenge of the main protagonist plotting to kill the person who betrayed him in his past life. The story is slow paced and has a lot of inner dialogue. There is potential in the story and would like to know what happens next.

This is a fun leveling novel.

Vikir betrayed and reborn to live his life all over again, but w/ all his past knowledge.
Altering his fate to exact his revenge, he must undergo tests and trials.

One of the trials being Camille Morg lol!!
I loved the introduction to another family, and I can’t wait to see the other heads.

I love that Hugo is still himself, but also I’m curious to see where this growth leads to. Barrymore gives very much Alfred vibes lol.
Alfonso is such a fun character too, especially when he switches from house representative to doting uncle lmfao.

Can’t wait to read the next volume!! 🫶🏽

Vikir wakes up reborn back in time, and immediately starts to enact his plan for revenge to those who wronged him in his previous life. Great full colour illustrations and action sequences. Love a character with strategies to get stronger. This was so good! I am excitedly looking forward to the next volume and seeing where Vikir’s revenge plot takes him next. I will definitely be purchasing this volume for my book collection upon release and will be greatly anticipating the next volumes of the series.

This is a revenge and time-travel story where our main character is killed and suddenly finds himself reborn as a baby, back at the beginning of his life. Determined to change his fate, he sets out to take revenge on his father, who had him killed for something he didn’t do. This time, he works to become stronger and outshine his siblings in every way.

The story is full of intense action and violence, with art that perfectly matches its dark and dramatic tone.
