The Sin that Lies Between Us

Rate this book
Nashari Henderson has never had it easy, but she’s always made it look good. Raised in the trenches of the foster system with nothing but grit and her will, along with her best friend Tyti by her side. The pair are no stranger to surviving the storm. Beautiful, sharp, and determined to be more than a statistic, she finally found something real in Sincere “Sin” Copeland a flashy, pill-popping street star who lives for the spotlight and swears she’s his everything.

What started as a whirlwind romance turned into real life fast. Now with twin daughters and a man who moves how he wants, Nashari is fighting battles no one sees—against fake friends, silent betrayals, and the creeping feeling that her place in Sin’s life might not be as solid as she thought. As she tries to keep her family together, hold her crown, and stay ten steps ahead in a game that don’t play fair, Nashari learns that loyalty comes with a price… and not everyone is worth the cost.

Her best friend Tyti? She’s the fire to Nashari’s calm. A wild, carefree stripper who don’t chase ‘em—she replace ‘em. With money on her mind and a heart cold as the diamonds she dances for, Tyti lives by one Cash Rules Everything Around Me.

In a world where love is war, trust is earned, and snakes wear familiar faces, Nashari will have to decide who’s really riding for her—and what she’s willing to do to protect what’s hers.

Or does all she need in this life of Sin is her & her boyfriend?

4.5 ⭐️ | This story was messsyyyyyyyyy and I loved it! Easy to love (and hate) characters that brought just enough drama to keep me intrigued from start to finish.

I loved Nashari, she was very relatable & keeps you rooting for her the entire time! I really enjoyed seeing her evolve & how she handled herself under pressure. I love how Myesha Smith took a deep dive & explored how trauma bonds causes us to allow people in our lives that shouldn’t be. I was happy when she finally realized that everyone didn’t earn access to her, and I was glad when she learned that life lesson. With a best friend like Tyti & a man like Mr. Sincere Copeland, she needed that tough skin that she found!

Demi & Dior are so stinking cute! The author did a great job of conveying their little personalities and making you feel as if you were seeing their sweet faces in person.

Last but not least, Mr. Diesel Everhart aka PAPA! Although he had a lot of growing to do as well, the character development was real! Not sure how this was even possible, but he was an even better man by the end of the story!

My favorite quote, this truly showed loyalty from Nashari, even when she was loyal to those she shouldn’t be!
”Although she would be in the wrong, she was still my sister and best friend so if she was rocking, I was rolling. We could figure out the other shit after but in front of people she was always right.”

If you’re looking for a messy, entertaining, pearl clutching, I know I didn’t just read what I thought I read, just one more chapter kind of story… I highly recommend this one! This my first read by Myesha, but certainly won’t be my last.

Title: The Sin That Lies Between Us
Author: Myesha Smith
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

GIRL. I had no idea what I was walking into with this book—but whew, I was NOT ready for the mess. The secrets. The back-and-forth. The audacity! The Sin That Lies Between Us is a tangled-up tale of love, lust, loyalty, and straight-up bad decisions… but baybee, it’s addictive from the first page.

Let’s start with Nashari. Lawd. I wanted to hug her and slap her upside the head sometimes. Sis is stuck in a dead-end relationship trying to convince herself it’s “for the kids,” meanwhile her heart is somewhere else—somebody who actually wants her. Like, wants her for real for real. But instead of walking toward what could heal her, she clings to what keeps her small. And that broke my heart.

Now Papa? Mr. “I just wanna be loved out loud.” He’s out here hiding relationships, acting up, and spiraling while secretly just wanting someone to choose him boldly. His emotions were loud, but his actions? Whew. Questionable. Still, I lowkey felt for him.

And then there's Sincere. CHILE. The name? Ironic. This man had the gall to leave Nashari in the hospital after giving birth talking ‘bout “I gotta make money”?? And then gaslights her through her postpartum depression like she was just being dramatic? Yeah nah. 0/10. Would not recommend.

Oh and let’s not forget Tyti—Nashari’s BFF who had me squinting at the page like, “Is this your friend??” Whole thot. No loyalty. EWW.

But bestie, the twists?? THE TWISTS?? I was reading this book like I was watching a messy Black soap opera and couldn’t look away. Every secret that came out just made the situation messier and I was here for every damn reveal. The tension was real, the spice was spicing, and the drama had me clutching my Kindle like it owed me answers.

✨ The heartbreak?? Raw.
✨ The love story?? Complicated.
✨ The spice?? Chef’s kiss.
✨ The ending?? Satisfying in that “finally!” kind of way.

5/5 stars from me. If you love your romance with messy secrets, complex characters, and hard-earned growth? The Sin That Lies Between Us will grab you and not let go. Myesha Smith? Sis did what needed to be done.

That Sin

The Sin That Lies Between Us is an emotional rollercoaster that hits every note—passion, betrayal, love, heartbreak, and redemption. Myesha Smith delivers a gripping tale of secrets, lies, and complicated relationships that had me hooked from start to finish.

From the very first chapter, I was pulled into the tangled web of friendships and romantic entanglements that blur the lines between loyalty and deceit. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another secret would surface, leaving me shocked and eager to keep turning the pages.

This book gave me all the feels—from moments that made me laugh and smile, to scenes that made me pause in heartbreak, and even parts where I said, “what the hell?!” out loud. Yet despite the chaos, there’s a warm core to the story—one that reminds you of the power of love, forgiveness, and truth.

Smith writes with authenticity and intensity, and the chemistry between the characters feels real. If you’re a fan of urban fiction with emotional depth, explosive drama, and plot twists that keep you on your toes, The Sin That Lies Between Us is a must-read.

The Sin That Lies Between Us.

I've been eagerly anticipating Myesha's "The Sin That Lies Between Us," and it completely lived up to the hype! The visuals alone promised an incredible story, and this book has undeniably earned its spot as one of my favorite reads of the year. It was so captivating, I couldn't put it down and finished it in a single sitting, craving more of its intricate plot. The title perfectly encapsulates the layers of secrets and intense drama woven throughout. Myesha took me on an exhilarating ride; just when I thought I had a handle on where the story was going, she delivered a shocking plot twist that left me genuinely surprised! While I didn't care for the characters Sin or Tyti, I felt a sense of satisfaction in how their storylines resolved, as everyone ultimately faced the consequences of their actions. And Papa is simply the best—no arguments there! Myesha truly outdid herself, and this book is an absolute must-read.

Papa and Sunshine

This book was a great read! Sometimes the people you love really be plotting on your downfall and stabbing you in the back. Sometimes what you think is love and settling for less than you deserve can leave you bitter and depressed! He wasn't ready, she wasn't ready, life throws you into situations with other people to make you realize you have to be with the one who you love and holds your heart! Everyone else is just a temporary place holder! The love and drama throughout the story made this a book you didn't want to put down until the end.

Amazing!

There was laughter, love & can’t forgot those plot twist. I was not expecting the plot twist but yess Nashari did her big one for sure. I would have loved to see more of her & Papa from their beginning. I should have known there was something there with their angry interactions all the time at first. I really enjoyed reading this story and would like to see more from these characters, even the side ones!

Babee the sin the sin

This book was fire from start to finish. Sharing was too loyal and nice to the people she cared about. When I say she gave Tyti that issue, karma was right on time. I'm just glad she made PaPa realize the worth she had. Heck, I'm glad she realizes her worth, and now she didn't have to settle for anything. I'm must say I will be reading more of this author books.

(I’m a lil slow sometimes)cause Sin got on my nerves and sunshine too for a minute But I’m glad they dad was who I thought it was cause I couldn’t take that other fool. That’s the energy sunshine should have been on.

Messy.

If you’re in the mood for high drama, toxic behavior, and trails of secrets; this is the read.

This is a new to me author, who I hope to read more from. While the story was all over the place and the errors were annoying. I enjoyed the crazy.

Some aspects need to be cleaned up, but this was a quick messy read.

This was good

First book from this author and I was thoroughly impressed. She’s going in my list of automatic reads when she drops new books. I laughed so hard throughout this book especially when she didn’t know Papa was in the house. Girl how you clueless and scary? I’m going to go check out the rest of her catalog.

Big Papa

“I love it when you call me Big Papa” okayyy Papa and his sunshine had me hooked BAD 😭 And let me just say this… this is a cheating trope I stood behind 100% because everybody in this book had AUDACITY. Every last one of them 😂

Myesha always knows how to keep me laughing, entertained, and fully invested. I had such a good time reading this one.

Not my cup of tea. Felt like two different stories meshed together with a lot of telling and not enough showing. 50% in was when I was disappointed and lost interest just wanted to see how it would end. 🥺

Good combo of toxic, entertaining & messy❣️

Liked Sin until I didn’t but Diesel was strong from the start! Lively cast of multigenerational characters from Mimi to the twins kept the entertaining dialogue flowing as drama unfolds around them. This one pulls out every emotion as we meet & follow Nashari as her life evolves. Unexpected plot twists definitely kept me guessing❣️📚❣️
