My ex cheated. My job sucks. And my apartment smells like old takeout and despair.
a 3 A.M. infomercial promising the Scrubbie Dubbie will change my life. Desperate and half-delirious, I order it.
The next day, a sponge arrives—hot pink, dual-textured, and paired with a cleaning liquid that smells suspiciously like seduction. Then things get... weird. And wet.
One steamy scrub-down later, I slip, hit my head, and wake up to a six-foot-something alien Adonis with abs for days and an obsession with cleaning. And with me.
He’s strong, sudsy, and ready to polish more than just my floors.
He came to tidy my apartment—and he just might stay to deep-clean my soul.
Content Scrub Me, Daddy is an erotic sentient object romance that includes a sponge and a human woman. It’s a sweet and spicy story, all in good fun.
🧼I would tell you this is filthy, but it’s supposed to be squeaky clean.
Anyway, this is exactly the kind of brain rot I like to engage in when I am looking for short LOL books. 🧠 Honestly, it’s actually quite well thought through. The author developed an entire world, a species, and even their education system for this story, which I have to respect.
But in the wise words of Paul (who I of course sat down and made listen to me narrate this): “This is so corny it should be on a cob.” 🌽
I did find myself cackling at times. It absolutely has that ridiculous charm. But in the grand scheme of things, I wasn’t that intrigued. There were moments where I definitely wanted to skim forward.
Still… entertaining brain rot is entertaining brain rot once in an alien moon.
-- Pre-read: I've done too many dishes today and need to associate sponges with something else.... I think? We'll see if I live to regret.
Maite por la ciencia. No fue mi idea leerlo, me lo sugirieron y no puedo decirle que no a investigar qué puede haber tras una historia de un alien esponja. No juzguen.
Scrub Me Daddy by April Showers is possibly one of the most ridiculous books I’ve read yet somehow it works. The story follows Dahlia when a sentient sponge named Savon lands at her doorstep. What sounds completely absurd becomes a short, chaotic read where a household object becomes her forever companion. The premise leans fully into the bizarre that now has me looking at sponges in a new light.
This book is only about 80 pages long, but the amount of smut packed into those pages is incredibly impressive. Normally that level of spice would overwhelm a story, but in this case the sheer ridiculousness of the premise makes it work. The entire thing reads almost like a sitcom that I’d be genuinely excited to watch.
Honestly, it was a hysterical yet thought inspiring story that kept thinking to myself, where can I buy this sponge? Immediately, that’s how quickly I need one. Where do I click to order a Dubbie clearly every woman needs a Dubbie in their life. Dahlia as a character was also oddly too relatable. It gave me chills that I could absolutely see parts of myself in her. Give me a Diet Cherry Coke and a basket of chili cheese fries and I am a happily content woman. The idea of a man, or apparently a sentient sponge, who has the energy to clean the house and make sure everything in life is fulfilled. It taps into something a lot of women probably secretly wish for inna man. One who washes dishes jezz! Sign me up!
Now, I am not saying the plot or the prose is groundbreaking or inspired. I have definitely read other stories that play with similar themes. But for what this book is, an eighty page sentient sponge romance, it actually delivers. It gets the point across, even gives us a bit of pegging and fully commits to the absurdity of the premise and it manages to be good and entertaining the entire duration of the book.
This is part of a little universe where there are other characters who have their own “dubbies.” This book is so random, ridiculous, and a very enjoyable read. It has me curious enough that I will probably pick up book two at some point.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your dish sponge was actually a sentient object? Has it ever just gave you ✨the✨ look? If you said yes, Scrub Me, Daddy is for you!
It’s a short, but packed erotica novella by April Showers. And I absolutely LOVED it. It’s not my typical read, but I’ve been branching out lately. 💁🏻♀️ This one had me giggling thought the entire thing and was filled with puns that had me laughing out loud!
Overview:

Scrub Me, Daddy by April Showers is an Out of This World read! I thought this was a super fun sentient object romance. Never did I ever think I would be reading a book about a sentient sponge! BUT I definitely don’t regret it! It is full of spice and super wholesome at the same time! I enjoyed reading this story and I can’t wait for the next one to come out!
I definitely recommend Scrub Me, Daddy by April Showers to all the sentient object romance lovers! I would also recommend this to alien romance lovers, since it’s kind of a mash of both! I definitely will be picking up more of April Showers’s books to read in the near future!
Oh I'm definitely going to side eye my Scrub Daddy Costco pack for awhile.
This book was great, I love a good alien book and I can definitely say I'm down to read some sentient object books. It was cute, fun and steamy. The FMC needs a little help in her life and let me tell you her new sponge is down to help with anything she needs. Definitely helps that he is a hunk of a man in his alter form too.
I was not expecting as much plot with this one lol. I personally read these kinds of the books for the absurdity and this one felt weirdly tame?? Like I was expecting more sponge content rather than him being an alien with a humanoid form. Some may not agree with me but I feel like the spice was pretty tame, the ribbed pp was the most spicy thing about the book, the actual acts were pretty tame in my opinion outside of the actual activities that happened while Savon was a sponge. The plot minus the spice itself was meh. Dahliah's friend needs her mouth washed out with soap(pun FULLY intended) with all her cussing lol. I feel like I have a potty mouth but her texts/conversations were giving 'a middle schooler who can cuss bc there are no adults around.' Dahlia also running out on Savon for being a virgin was really weird lol, like of all the events that have happened THAT'S where you drew the line?? I am happy Savon got to have a happily ever after on earth with Dahlia despite the plot. I'm also happy he was able to have a friend.
I have been in a reading slump but my book brain has been raised from the dead. A sentient sponge? Aliens? Wicked good spicy times? This little story had everythingggggggg. The sponge puns were top tier. I was giggling and fanning myself all at the same time. Perfection. 10/10. No notes.
Well, sentient romance is always a wild ride. I didn't open this book with super high expectations but honestly, thus book kept me hooked. It was quite... titillating. You wanna be shocked by end up kinda tingly. You wouldn't expect something meant to clean to be so... dirty. Honestly, it was a fun, easy read.
This book is a fantastic short read! A steamy Sponge Daddy Romance that involves a sentient sponge that turns out to be an Alien from another planet what else do you need. This book was amazing April Showers did a fantastic job and I cannot wait for the next book to come out on April 1st 2026. ( I may or may not have already pre-saved the book)

If you’re looking for a fun read, this is a great one! I went into this expecting some weird sponge sex, which we do get. But, we had a surprisingly fun story with a green flag alien/man/sponge. I wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised with how invested I got in the story. If you want a fun short read and are open to trying something new, I recommend this!
Shakespeare is quaking rn now. His pussy is shaking the roof of every house across this nation. His bones are rattling. He is tearing his hair out, just WISHING he had written something as legendary as this piece of artwork.
This was what I chose for one of our book groups monthly reading prompts. I was unsure of what I was really getting myself into. I obviously knew it would bring a few giggles but it turned out to be a dirty but sweet story.
This book definitely deserves a higher rating and humorous erotica. This was a fun cute read that absolutely had me screaming in the shower. it made me want to go to Walmart and pick up a scrub Daddy or a scrub. mommy, great job April showers. happy reading guys!
For how short this book it, it rocked this world. I found myself chuckling quite a bit. The story line is there and the characters are great! Maybe I need my very own Dubbie
This was so corny and so funny a nice awkward read for an hour, I enjoyed the characters 😅 it made me laugh. I could do with a man who will take care of me .
